Description of Work: EES installed a radon mitigation system in our house. The project included the installation of a pipe that runs from a collection point in the basement drain tile, up through a closet upstairs, and ultimately up to an exhaust fan in the attic and out through the roof. The work was done neatly and professionally. I felt that the price we paid was very fair for the quality and complexity of the services rendered, and I am very happy to be able to recommend EES to other homeowners needing the same service.

Mr. Frank gave us an accurate and complete description of his work and what the remediation system was intended to achieve. We especially appreciated how carefully he performed his work and his neatness. Most importantly, the system works and has brought the radon level down to an acceptable level. Installation included a fan unit located in the garage attic. The whole system is unobtrusive. The fan is inaudible.
Description of Work: Performed radon remediation by installing a vent from the basement floor through the roof of our garage.

From start to finish, Robert was professional, thorough, and friendly. He was the ONLY person (we got three bids) who considered how this would look and worked with us to make sure we were happy with how it was vented with PVC piping. Because of the way our house is, the piping could not be hidden in walls and has to be on the exterior of our brick house. He ended up having to do more work to have this look the way we wanted and he was happy to do it. We even offered to give him more money since the job took longer than he expected, but he would not take it. His work was very well done, from how it looked, to how it works. Our radon went from 7.4 pCi/L to 0.9 pCi/L! On top of it all, his bid was the lowest, by $500-$700.
Description of Work: Robert installed a two suction point radon sub-slab mitigation system, with one suction point in the laundry room and the second under the radon barrier (that he also installed) in a crawl space under an addition.

I found Worth in the local Yellow Pages and called him among several others. Worth came to the house, did a visual check, left literature (including information about Angie's, which I checked and joined), and promised a written estimate within a week. The estimate arrived just days later. I called to schedule the work; he asked me to sign the estimate and return it to him. He called me when he received the signed estimate and we scheduled a day for the work. I was unable to be home the full day he did the work; I was fine with leaving him here to do the work. I came home at lunch to see how things were going, and our three dogs had befriended him in the garage. When I returned home again at the end of my day he was just finishing the job and he took about 15 minutes to walk me through the full system, from basement to rooftop, explain how it operates, how to visually monitor it to assure it is working properly. Clearly labeled in basement with in instructions and his contact info.
Description of Work: Installed radon sub-slab suction system with the suction point coming off the sumb pasket in the basement, into the front corner of the garage, up the garage wall to the joists, into the garage attic storage area, and out the roof through dark pipe and watertight flashing. Ducting through PVC pipe with the garage portions insulated. An in-line fan sits on the pipe in the garage and is plugged into an existing electrical outlet. Fire stop surrounds the pipe where it enters the garage from basement utility area (sump) on opposite side of wall. Pressure gauge on the pipe in basement monitors the system performance. Accessible radon entry points such as open cracks over 1/16 inch in slab sealed. Radon re-test kit with a Gallipot charcoal canister included, plus five-year transferable warranty.

Fine, the installation did place the discharge pipe next to a future toilet rough in. If the installation proves to be in the way of future finishing, contractor pledged to move at his expense. All I can ask for. He was a responsive, very nice contractor to deal with and earned the trust of myself and 4 other neighbors who had the same work performed.

Mr. Frank proved to be a competent knowledgeable person who is very friendly and outgoing. It was a pleasure to have him around. The only problem is he is very busy. He is worth waiting for however. Based on my experience if you choose someone else you have probably made a mistake.
Description of Work: Installed a Radon Mitigation system that exceeded what competitors stated they would provide at a lower price.

A very small company provided excellent service. My initial phone call & message resulted in a promptly returned call. The appointment for my property inspection was made & the provider arrived as scheduled. The provider explained that he would not do the work based solely on one test. When he saw the commercial grade tester I had purchased & the results of the testing, he explained several options. He recommended a system that was in the mid to lower range in prices. The system was installed in one day. Test results completed after 36 hours dropped the radon level by 5 points. One month later, the radon is barely detectable. I'll be using Angie's list to locate an electrician to do the follow-up code compliance work.
Description of Work: Provider inspected my property. I had already done 2 tests for radon. One from the health department & several with a commercial grade tester I purchased before I contacted the service provider (This company would not perform the work without the commercial grade testing). Provider installed radon reduction system. The system runs from the basement floor up into the ceiling & into my garage where it is vented through the garage roof. It works as a vacuum to draw the radon out of the foundation & the earth below it. The system is currently running on power through an extension cord. City codes require that I have a separate outlet. The provider does not do the electric work. He did, however, give a thorough explanation of the required wiring.

ROBERT WAS ABLE TO ACCOMMODATE ME WHEN I ASKED TO MOVE UP HIS WORK DATE BY A MONTH SO I COULD CLOSE ON MY HOUSE. HE AND HIS ASSISTANT WORKED A VERY LONG SATURDAY. THEY CAREFULLY COVERED MY FLOORS AND CARPET WITH DROPCLOTHS. HE OFFERED TO ARRANGE FOR AN ELECTRICIAN TO HOOK UP THE FAN OR I HAD THE OPTION OF HIRING ONE ON MY OWN. HE GAVE ME THE RADON TESTING CANISTER AND INSTRUCTIONS ON ITS USE, PLUS HOW TO GET THE RESULTS BACK QUICKLY. MY RADON LEVELS NOW MEASURE BELOW .5, WHICH IS VERY GOOD. HE GAVE ME THE LOWEST PRICE ON A DIFFICULT AND HARD JOB AND I'M A VERY SATISFIED CUSTOMER.
Description of Work: INSTALLED A RADON REDUCTION SYSTEM WHICH INCLUDED SEALING 3 CRAWL SPACES WITH A SPECIAL COVERING, DRILLING A HOLE INTO THE BASEMENT FLOOR, INSTALLING PIPING FROM THE BASEMENT, THROUGH THE CRAWLSPACE, UP THROUGH THE GARAGE AND INTO THE ATTIC WHERE A FAN VENTS OUT THE ROOF. THIS WAS A 2 MAN ALL DAY JOB.

FANTASTIC. MR. FRANK RESPONDED QUICKLY AND WAS ABLE TO INSTALL THE FAN WITHIN A WEEK OF CONTACTING HIM. IT WAS IMPERATIVE THAT THE FAN BE INSTALLED AT THE TIME IT WAS, AS WE WERE IN THE PROCESS OF FINISHING OFF THE BASEMENT. FRAMING AND DRYWALLING WERE TO BE COMPLETED WITHIN DAYS, AND HE WAS ABLE TO FIT THIS PROJECT INTO HIS BUSY SCHEDULE.
