Description of Work
Contractor sales rep. visited our home and gave us a near 4 hour presentation, most of which was developing trust leading up to his presentation telling us about installation of windows, a presentation demonstrating the construction of the windows leading up to a price quote that was not broken down by product and labor cost or window size. When I explained I would not a contract that evening, but wanted to obtain other quotes, he refused, required I give him back his worksheet, stating "that's mine bud, and I need it back. He said he would rather go to other future appointments that he could close and not come back to our home if we needed to get other quotes. Further research has proven his product was very good, but his price is too high for the services to install 7 windows for us. We continue in our search for another provider as time permits.

The installer Dave, was a really nice guy and worked quickly. He did great work and did not leave any mess. He even put back our custom blinds and cut them to fit the new space.

This review concerns sales tactics and professionalism . They were supposed to come out for an estimate. We were starting the process of shopping for 8 new windows. My wife handled the appointment and they stressed that WE BOTH BE THERE. The day before the appointment they called to remind us and again stress what both husband and wife be present The supposed quote turned into a high pressure sales pitch. I would not recommend this company.

They said they would install a bathroom fan and insulation in our attic within 2 weeks. It took over 3 months for them to finally come and do the project. The fan that they put in wasn't the fan we had asked for a signed the agreement for. I was not happy with the company and would not use them again.

First of all, they called me for a "no obligation/free" consultation/presentation. The week prior to our appointment, I received a phone call every day to confirm and was reminded each time to have my husband present at the appointment (presumably so I couldn't say, "I'll have to ask my husband before I sign any contract"). Second of all, they showed up 45 minutes late - and then proceeded to chit-chat for another 1/2 hour before finally getting down to business. My husband and I stated right away that we were not prepared to order anything or make any decisions that night, we were only looking for bids. After listening to their whole pitch, we declined at least 5 times, and the salesman continued to push to the point of condescension and borderline rudeness. We requested a copy of the quote, and he said he'd email it to me. It has been almost 3 months and I have yet to hear from them regarding the quote. We were actually considering going with them, but now I would absolutely not.

We ended up not using them because they were very expensive. They quoted me $25000 for the work. I went online and verified their company and they had bad ratings everywhere. The guy showed up on time to do the estimate though but he was very pushy.

We got a quote from Your Home Improvement Co for a cabinet, toilet and a tub. They were even supposed to put up a drywall.

The installer, Dave, was great! We had a problem with the plumber who didn't install things correctly. Luckily he put the water on backwards in the tub (hot right and cold left instead of visa versa) and I happened to notice the shower-head was leaking, or we would have had alot of damage to our house because water was leaking. I hope they never use him again as Dave was also complaining that he took twice as long to complete his work. All I saw was that he seemed to always be outside smoking a cigarette. My biggest complaint, and something I hope they will determine a solution for is our tub. Sorry for the lengthy comment here. We had a tub we loved, but had to replace it because the coating was eaten through because it was 24 years old and I used CLR to try and clean the hard water stains on it. It was oversized (42" wide) and both of us could take a shower easily together. The sales person could not show us a picture of the replacement, but we talked about what we loved and my husband and I assumed he listened and would get a reasonable replacement. Instead, we received a tub that is actually narrower than most 32" tubs (20" wide at the bottom) and is very high as well. It looks nice but there is 12" between the inside of the tub and the edge - combined with the height it is difficult to get out of. That wasn't at all what we wanted! Only other complaints are that there are already water spots on the tub/shower faucet (in less than a month) and that the faucet in the sink is overhanging so much it's hard to wash your face - not what I would have selected. That is why I said above we wouldn't use them again, although it is really more of a maybe at this point. This was our first remodeling ever (another fact we told the sales person). I hope they find something that can be done about the tub. Lesson learned - make sure you see real picture or are able to select the products before the work is done. This was a very expensive lesson for us. We felt their price was fair for the products, even if we aren't happen with the styles. What sold us and caused us to not look at another vendors (besides Bath Fitters that's product looked cheap) was that they had 10 year financing at a very low interest rate. We needed that as we couldn't do a home equity loan due to housing prices.

Please see above for details. I had purchased 5 other windows from this company in late 2009. I have not had any issues with any of the windows from that purchase. And that is why I used this company for my most recent purchase of 3 windows for my kitchen.
Description of Work
The service purchased was Replacement Windows, not Roofing. These windows were installed in late fall of 2012. The person that actually installed them was very professional, as was his assistant that day. However I firmly believe that they forgot to seal/caulk the top of the double windows in my kitchen. When I called the company early last week to ask about someone coming out to see what was causing the leaks in both windows I was treated as though I was inconveniencing them by asking to have someone check out the problem. Though they did actually have someone check the windows the next day, I called on a Monday, but I was first told that no one was available until Friday. And with the warmer weather we had early last week, the windows were leaking quite alot. When the guys got here to check the windows the first thing they did was check the seal around the windows on the outside of the house. As soon as the one guy was up the ladder his comment was '' these could use some more caulking." He immediately got off the ladder, got the caulking gun and put caulk on the top of both windows. The other gentleman kept telling me it was due to the ice dam on my roof. And I readily admit I have ice dams on my house, however no worse than in past years. And in past years the really crummy old windows that I had did not leak into my kitchen. The same gentleman that kept telling me it was due to the ice dam kept talking to me as though I did not understand and as though I am hard of hearing. Grey hair does not equate to dumb or deaf. While it has not been as warm this week so there has not been as much roof snow melt, I clearly noticed in the two days of warmer weather after they sealed the top of the windows that I did not have more water in my kitchen at that time. I will keep a close eye on this. Plus I have not received a follow up call from the company to ask me about the service call.

Terrible. We chose them because the salesman promised quality work with professional attitude. We signed our contract and paid them 1/2 down in early spring. They were to come by May, but when they hadn't even called to set up the time by then end of May, we had to call them over and over to get them to come. They finally came in July. The salesmen we had worked with were gone by then, they forgot the type of shingles we ordered, and sent a crew of 3 guys who knew nothing but how to rip off the shingles. They could not consult us on gutters and were completely unable to give information or advice on ventilation. They came at 10 and left at 4. We were told the job would take 2 days; it took 2 weeks. The crew did not clean up after themselves. Daily, my husband would follow after them with a magnet picking up nails, and we were still pulling pieces of shingles out of our landscaping months later. They trampled our bushes, crushed 2 gutters, ruined our lightweight wheelbarrow, and would randomly not show up. On the last day, the city inspector came to tell us that we didn't have a building permit (something Your Home Improvement Company assured us they would take care of) and that the crew wasn't doing a good job. This was our first big home repair, and didn't realize until too late that our contract was much too vague. I found out it is standard on most jobs to replace drip edge and flashing, but YHIC did not agree. They refused to do so. The inspector fought with them for days to come back out and repair a piece of flashing and to cover an area of exposed roof boards. The crew claimed it was YHIC's fault; YHIC claimed it was the crew's fault; we were stuck in the middle. There was no way of decent communication, and YHIC made it clear that they did not care whether or not they had done a good job. In the end, we got the flashing & exposed area fixed and they took off a measly $150 from our bill. But it wasn't over. Months later we got a call from the industrial dumpster company they had used to dump the roof materials in -- the bill was still unpaid and they were about to put a mechanic's lien on our house. We ended up having to hire a lawyer to threaten legal action to get them to pay it off.

They were to "replace shingles and necessary roofing materials" and "consult on gutters".

I am quite disappointed with my overall experience. It took 3 months for the work to begin after initial estimate. I did receive updates during 3 months. However, no one called me to inquire which dishwasher to purchase. I gave that info to Saleman Paul the night before work was to begin. Carpenter found dishwasher color to be discontinued so all 3 of us agreed to their boss sending me a check for credit towards dishwasher. Said check would be to me by end of week - it's been 19 days since most work was done. Have called twice about check. Electrician didn't show to wire dishwasher & microwave. Doors to cupboards were wrong color/style - had to be reordered. 2 of 4 doors installed now. Carpenter did excellent job of installing/grouting tile backsplash, faucet, new counter top, and vinyl flooring. Even did extra by scraping unexpected old tile/grout under carpet w/o extra charges. Both Paul & Darris were polite, courteous, gave me updates, & promised to talk to boss about credit.
Description of Work
Salesman Paul did estimate. Carpenter Darris removed old carpet & grouted tile from kitchen floor. He also installed new cupboards, added a corner-like cupboard to replace the lazy suzan cupboard that wouldn't fit, installed new subfloor & vinyl tile, replaced counter top with new one, installed new faucet, and added ceramic tile & grout to backsplash area above counter top. He was supposed to install a dishwasher and make shelves for the cupboard that replaced the lazy suzan cupboard. The electrician didn't show up to wire the dishwasher and place for range/microwave. Dishwasher color was discontinued so Salesman Paul & Carpenter Darris said they would have their boss send me a check for credit towards dishwasher. Shelves for replacement of lazy suzan cupboard were made of subflooring scraps with glue on bottom. Shelves are about a quarter inch thick & don't meet with other existing shelves. No cupboard top installed & bottom shelf is not flush with bottom of cupboard frame.
