 + 0 moreWe have started for just about everything. We saw several doctors locally and got conflicting opinions from each. They tried to treat it and couldn't get it taken care of. Once you are in the system you can see just about any specialty you want and you can also see them very quickly. They were able to figure it out once I got there. They are incredible productive and efficient. They dermatology department is set up perfectly.

They pay attention to me and they treat me like I am the most important person there. They care about me every step of the way and they have people out there through every step of the way. The people are very, very personable people. It is a very nice place.

 + -1 moreThe business in town is the Mayo Clinic. It covers 4 blocks by 6 blocks. There are 9-12 floors. If you want a vascular surgeon, there are 47 of them. People come from the mid east, Iraq, Iran, Syria, and the Saudi Arabians bring in a whole plane of people once a month who have serious conditions. I highly recommend them. They run a shuttle bus from the Minnesota airport to Rochester. It is a lot cheaper and a lot more frequent, but, you have to make reservations. I took my husband there. They gave my husband a 2 day exam, as he had a stroke, and thought he might have to have surgery on his arteries. He saw a specialist for that condition and the specialist decided who he was going to see and when (pertaining to the other doctors there, during that 2 day exam). You see them, they report to him, and he sends a report to your hometown doctor. They are the best in the world. It depends on how sick you are as to how fast you can get an appointment. I recommend their website. They have clinics in Arizona and Florida, and feel they are equally as good. I give them the highest ratings and will continue to go there in the future, if needed.

 + -1 moreThey are set up so that as soon as you enter, an entire team is assigned to your care. I have received excellent care there. It is much more affordable than other places as well. They have given me a lot of hope over the years. There are reasonable accommodations throughout Rochester connected by tunnels so that you can get to a hotel or restaurant in a wheelchair.
Description of Work: They saved my life several times! I've been going there on and off since 2004. I have congestive heart failure and had a follow up appointment. I've seen them for my diabetes, cancer treatment, and edema in the past as well.

 + -1 moreI would give them the highest rating possible. The Mayo Clinic is world-renowned and kings from other countries come to them. It is an incredible place. My girl had a severely broken leg and we had first used another hospital where they did three surgeries over a period of time. They then referred us to Mayo Clinic and they did another surgery and fixed her. They didn't send her home until she could travel comfortably in the car. She had the surgery in May, and by August, she was running three miles. It changed her life. Our insurance covered it, which was even better. The Mayo Clinic will treat you regardless of whether you have insurance or not. It is just an awesome place. It would be the first place that I would go to in the future if I needed.

Mayo is the best medical service provider we've ever used. They are top of the line in every respect. I would return to them in a minute, and can't recommend them highly enough.

Description of Work: LUNG DISEASE In 1992, I went to the clinic for lung issues that had been misdiagnosed by 5 prior doctors (including a lung specialist who thought the trouble was in my head) to the point that the illmess had become very serious. The Clinic had me examined by a Pulmonologist who told me during that first visit he thought that I had a rare disease similar to emphasema. I was 35 years old. He immediately - and I mean that day - got me in for an extensive battery of tests that confirmed his diagnosis. I was there for the week and left with oxegen and a whole team to support me while I waited for a lung transplant. They were amazing, seeing me montly and monitoring me until my transplant a year later. There is no question that I would not be here to right this review with out the Mayo Clinic Transplant team. During my 20 years with the Mayo the medicine has changed a lot in this field and the clinic is a leader as always for instance the Transplant group now is doing Regenerative medicine for some transplant patients - This is really miraculous medicine - look into it. I have had my transplanted lung for 20 years - an extrordinary outcome and I credit the great, personal care I receive from the clinic. I could not have had a better experience in my situation.

 + -1 moreI had a positive experience with them. I like them for a lot of reasons. The doctors are on salary and it's not that they don't respect your treatment. They are organized in their record keeping and the billing is excellent. There is always somebody available. The office environment is good. I would use them in the future.

Description of Work: About 8yrs ago I had pancreatic cancer and was terminal at my local hospital. I went to this Mayo Clinic and today I am 81/2 years free of that cancer.

 + -1 moreI check in to the clinic and usually wait for only a few minutes. An assistant takes me to a room and gives me a quick visual exam, takes the intraocular pressure, and performs routine updates (prescription changes and so on). Then I'm taken to Dr. Maguire's examination room. At that time, I prepare a hot compress for my eyes, which helps loosen the oils in the meibomian glands. Dr. Maguire then comes in and talks with me about my eyes, examines my eyes and eye lids, and tends to the glands. Dr. Maguire is the first ophthalmologist to successfully treat my blepharitis and corneal complications, and reduce the number of days and weeks where I have to take lots of steroid drops and ocular antibiotics. He is patient, empathetic, and communicative -- I've learned more about my eye and eye problems from him than from all the other eye doctors I've seen in the past (at least 4 other ophthalmologists). The support staff is competent and, for the most part, friendly -- but it is Dr. Maguire's knowledge, treatment, and caring that make the difference for me. Highly recommended, especially for corneal problems and persistent blepharitis.
Description of Work: I have chronic eye problems -- glaucoma and blepharitis. The blepharitis is complicated by dysfunctional meibomian glands, and a flare up of the blepharitis often spreads to the cornea. Treating the corneal problems requires steroids or antibiotics, medications that can (and did, in my case) negatively affect glaucoma and cause loss of vision. I have regular appointments with Dr. Maguire where he examines my eyes, especially the cornea and tends to the meibomian glands. The exam and treatment, along with medication and personal maintenance, helps the glands better produce and secrete their oils, which helps prevent blepharitis, which in turn reduces the occurrence of corneal problems.
