They provided a fair estimate of their work, and they held to their estimate. They were punctual. They said they would come at 8 in the morning, and they came at 8. They finished the job in the amount of time that they estimated. They were polite and easy to deal with.

John Armstrong was extremely professional. When he came to the house, he spent some quality time asking me what I was looking for, not just in an estimate, but in the company I was looking to hire. He then spent some talking about his philosophy on painting and customer service, work ethic, and his role as a crew member on his team. He spent nearly an hour walking around the our humble rambler with me, pointing out needs, checking for exterior damage, answering questions. He was very detailed in his assessment and walked me through the bid process, and what I should expect. Two business days later I received the bid in the mail, and a phone call a week later following up to see if I had any other questions. I would highly recommend this company to another if asked. His pricing ranked 2nd of four bids. The only reason I chose another company was based on a referral from a coworker who had recently had his home painted by another contractor and was very happy with him.

Way too expensive. I was discouraged with the cost, thinking the estimate to be reasonable, I didn't have the work performed and didn't get anymore estimates. This spring, I got estimates from two more highly rated Angies List painters, both which were 1/3 or less the cost of the Magic Painting estimates. Subsequently, the house has been painted and I couldn't be happier with the results.

Met with owner for ideas and estimates at our convenience. The owner is very pleasant and informative. He has direct oversight of every project. The painters and carpenters gave consistently reliable and personalized service with great attention to detail. Their craftsmanship was superb. They were very prompt and stayed on the job until they completed their goals for the day. Work areas were thoroughly cleaned up each day. Our job was personalized with some lovely murals on the pillars of our porch.

John gave a thorough, clear bid, which ended up in the middle range of the three bids I considered. The crew arrived on time and ready to work each day. They were pleasant to have in my house, kind to the dog and kids, and willing to work around whatever daily circumstances came their way. The quality of the work (both prep and painting) easily met my expectations. I would definitely hire Magic Painting again.

John Armstrong's professionalism, sense of color and style, and right-on intuition of what we were looking for, made this project more fun than work. His crew's enthusiasm for each new color choice added to our sense that we had all gotten it right!

The project took about 2 weeks with 3 painters for most of the time. Prep was well-done. They paid attention to detail. They were respectful of our space. Clean-up was excellent. The crew touched-up some wood work for us and secured a piece of art to the wall that had not been secured properly.

Magic Painting painted my house a few years ago and I was very happy with the service and quality of work. When hail damaged the paint on one side of my house this spring, I did not consider calling anyone else but John. While he was assessing the hail damage, I asked him to look at another part of the house that was showing some wear. John came out to my house at least twice to determine which areas needed attention and he gave me a couple of repainting options to consider. The painting crew was very professional and accommodating. When there was a question on whether the paint was matching correctly, they worked with me to ensure it was a match. After other hail repair work was completed, such as the roof and windows, John touched up the paint where needed.

John came out, learned about our project, and gave us an estimate within a few days as promised. We selected Magic Painting Company based on our conversations which made us comfortable that they would pay attention to details, and take care with the prep work so that the painting job would look great. There was significant prep work needed, because the old paint on the wrought iron trellis had been half stripped. Magic Paint Co. also prepped the door by filling in dings etc. The work was completed over several days, and John kept us informed of the progress and schedule. The final amount exceeded the quote slightly, because we needed a 3rd coat of paint, since we were going from green to white. John told us this would be a possibility, and it didn't come as a surprise. We are very happy with the outcome, and recommend this company without reserve.

John and his crew were very friendly, easy to work with and professional. They are definitely at the high end cost wise, but we wanted the job done right and they did not let us down. We will hire them back for any painting we need done in the future.

We could not be happier with the results of this project. John + his crew were extremely patient with the back + forth with the insurance company as well as juggling other work that impacted the painting (new roof, gutters, downspout, screened porch, etc). This was a large project that was completed during several very hot summer days... John's team worked hard + took special care to complete the project just how we wanted it. He also came back to do touch-ups. Another impressive aspect of Magic Painting's work was how tidy their work area was kept... several neighbors commented on this in addition to how hard they worked, even when we were not home. I would recommend John's Magic Painting to anyone!

I have used them 4 separate and have been very happy with their work. They are very professional and good with detail.

They were clean and did a wonderful job of matching the new paint to the kind that was on there before. The house looks like new. When my chimney needed repair and I couldn't get it done before they started, they came back and painted it later.

My personal belief is they may be getting into areas that should be farmed out . I believe the use of a framing square could have cut time spent on shake installation as much as 50%. When I picked out the shakes an employee stated the nailing needed to be left loose to allow for expansion and contraction, the same as if you are siding a house . The product has elongated nail holes for this. The nailing I witnessed was not loose but nailed tight against the house. I was surprised the final bill was $2141.00 higher then the estimate, all of the increases were in areas other then painting. This, in my opinion, reflects badly on project management appearing to be a lack of understanding and knowledge in areas other then painting.

The workman was very prompt and worked quickly. The quality of the work was excellent and the clean up was above reproach. We were very pleased with the whole experience and have recommended them to all our friends.

I called John for an estimate and he responded promptly. After we agreed on a price he scheduled a start time in a short time (given weather conditions) and he and his crew arrived promptly on the expected date and got right to work. The crew was exceptional. We did encounter a couple of problems with old wood as work progressed so some additional costs were incurred, with which I agreed. The finished product is very good and I would hire them again.

All of the guys from the owner on down were very friendly and helpful and seemed to know a lot about what they were doing. All the workers seemed to take great pride in what they did.

Although The Magic Painting Company is properly insured and included a copy of their insurance certificate, their cost was almost double that of most other estimates. We decided to go with a company with an estimate closer to $11,000 (a middle estimate).

This was the most absurd bid I have ever received from a contractor. The two other bids, which were firm prices, were for approx $7,900 and $8,500. The bid from Magic Painting was over $28,000 or almost 4 times what others quoted! That was for only one coat, not two like the others and the proposal was not a firm price. About half of the total was based on a time and material estimate, that would be charged based on actual time spent. I went back and reread their reports here after receiving the bid, hoping to find out what I missed. What I found in most reports was that virtually everyone ended up paying more than the original bid, because the time and material estimate was always exceeded. I can only speculate that they are very busy because of their A rating and have raised their pricing. I also believe that they saw that the house (average size) was on a lake and several other contractors were on site doing extensive high budget renovations. My guess is that he saw dollar signs, thought I was not getting competitive quotes and thought he might catch a big one. The fact that he is the only one that did not followup days later, reinforces my feeling that they knew they would look very foolish if I got another price. Anyone who gives these guys an order without getting two or three other prices and a truly firm price is a fool.

John came to give and estimate and was on time. He was very professional and gave me a very detailed bid for everything that I had mentioned. However, his bid was more than $500 more than I had hoped to spend on interior painting. I have no doubt that I would have had a great experience with this company but due to cost I had to go with another company.

Evan arrived on time. We walked through the house and showed him what we wanted done. He participated and offered thoughts if there was a better method. He wrote an estimate, we agreed and he started immediately. The bedroom ceiling was first. He covered everything with tarps or plastic. He warned us the patch compound he used would generate a lot of dust when sanded; and it did, but the plastic and tarps kept the mess to a minimum. He also did a great job in matching the texture of our ceiling in the area he d patched. He ticked off the other handy man jobs quickly and confidently. He installed the doorknobs and sanded/planed the problem doors. No more binding! Evan got sick while working here, but John Armstrong, Magic Painting s owner, came over, and spent an afternoon helping get the work done on time, which we appreciated. In the end Evan asked for feedback on everything he d done. He wanted us happy. All was perfect. He cleaned up after himself and left.

Everything went smoothly from start to finish. The 4 painters that worked on the house were focused, detail-oriented and overall easy to work with. Due to weather, the project was delayed for a few days but the change in schedule was well communicated to me by John. After things got going, the crew showed up when they were expected. Everyday, the progress and general clean-up at the day's end met my expectations.

It went very well. We are very happy with the finished job. We were particularly impressed with the attention to detail and their willingness to work with us on anything that needed touch-ups (including one more round in the spring to fix very minor imperfections). The company is very professional and easy to work with.

If you are going to have guys crawling over your house for a week, these are the guys you want. We can't say enough good things about John, Evan, Bobby and Sean. From the initial power-washing to the finishing touches, they were courteous, convivial, immaculate in their work and clean-up, nice to our dog, totally patient with our inexperience (this is the first time we have ever hired anyone to do anything like this) and they just generally did a great job. From the beginning, John was sensitive to the needs of our project and the issues inherent working on an older home. He always calls when he says he will. The end cost was higher than the original estimate, but some of the wood was in worse shape than anticipated. Before doing the extra work, John discussed the options with us and made some helpful recommendations. He also picked out some great colors; our house is not only better protected, but so much prettier.
