Greg's Lawn Service

I don't know why it has taken us so long to write this review/  When the last flake falls the crew is there.  We have usually stayed in touch via email.  Greg responds very quickly.  Today, as an example, I sent him an email about plowing snow piling up at the end of the driveway.  I sent it about 3 PM.  We returned at 6 PM and the job had been done.  This is normal for his service.  Many people like to pay by the month.  We prefer to pay for reliability.

This is the 6th time I have called them.  Terrible terrible job with the last snow removal.  So bad that my dad asked me when he came over in the afternoon if they were supposed to shovel.  It looked like they hadn't done anything.  The crew took off only the top layer and left 1 1/2" inches below completely untouched.  Haven't received a call back yet and will call them again today.

During the last big snow, we had problems as well.  The crew shoveled the front of the house but didn't shovel the back or the driveway.  I called the owner who did answer and told him.  Even he thought it was dumb that they didn't shovel the back.  Quite a while later, they shoveled the back walkway and stairs.  But not the driveway.  A 2nd call ensued.  3 calls and 3 hours later, the driveway was finally shoveled.  And this was well into the afternoon even though we signed up for the "expedited" service.

They do a fine job when the snow is less than 1" but that's not the main reason to have a snow service!  The price is reasonable but not if the snow doesn't actually get removed.

The company charges by the job, not the season and this is one of the reasons I chose them.  They have come three of four times this season. I chose to have it shoveled when it is two inches of snow, or more.  The first snow was 11 inches and they came early in the am, around 5:30 and cleared everything using a combination of snow blower on the driveway and shovels on the rest.  The next couple of times in was less snow and they used only shovels.  I appreciation this because they did it around 4:30 am.
The price depends on several factors which they spelled out in the written service agreement. I am billed by mail after the completion of the job. I have been very satisfied with their work.

My regular snow removal guy had a lot of trouble with his trucks on the day we got a ton of snow dumped on us. I waited at home for him to come and clear my driveway, at least, but after a day and a half he still hadn't shown up or called me. I called him and cancelled his services and went to Angie's List and got Greg's Lawn Service's information. I called and left a message, he called me back, and within hours the work was done.He mailed me a service contract that I signed and returned. I had to leave town for a couple of weeks and even though I had not yet paid him a single penny, he continued to keep my property clear while we were gone. When I got back, I called to thank him for giving me the benefit of the doubt and he was very friendly and gracious. I am thinking of having him be my new yard person when spring comes. He is cheaper than my old person, just charging by the job and the time it took rather than a flat rate. So far, I couldn't be happier with his services..

For the past two years I had been traveling for work an awful lot. I was in desperate need for a snow removal service. I contacted many and none would take me--they were already over-committed. I would contact Greg via phone and leave a message on his voicemail. Occasionally he would contact me if it would take 2-3 days before they could get to me but they always got to me. Their prices were reasonable. I would use them again.

Fine.

I was trying to arrange for a one-time lawn service before I went out of town.  We were abel to transcat the whole thing by e-mail.  Fast, courteous, thorough service!

They are absolutely outstanding! Greg is a wonderful person to do business with, and is very customer friendly!

I had my knee replaced and was unable to do any shoveling or snow removal.  Greg and his workers often came during the overnight, before I even realized the snow had fallen, and almost silently cleared all of my sidewalks and the apron for my garage in the alley.  I live on a corner lot with a handicap-accessible corner.  They cleared the sidewalks to the concrete.  Greg and his workers were my heroes last winter and I have contracted with them to do the work again this year.  I paid about $50.00 per snowfall and it was worth every penny.

Poor service. It was difficult to get them out, then as I watched, they blew leaves around (including into the neighbors yard), threw a few sticks into the woods, and left. We were unable to reach Greg, although he did send someone back out who, when I answered the door, rudely asked if I had questions. I said no we would hire another service and he turned and left.

I like everything about them. They were accommodating and timely. They did a good job.

They do what they say they will and they are on time. They are quick and efficient and price wise they are great.

I recommend them.

Greg is awesome.  He is always there for me.  A couple of years ago I needed to get my lawn mowed quickly before a party.  Greg was able to have it mowed the same day that I called him.  I loved it so much that I hired his guys to come weekly.  Since then I've had another guy come into my life who wanted to take on the lawn care duties, so I didn't renew Greg's weekly service.  However, there are those times when my hubby hasn't done his chores, so I've called Greg.  All I need to do is leave a message with my address and what I need.  I'm happy to say that Greg's lawn care has always come when requested and done a great job.  It is such a nice sight when I get home and the yard looks beautiful.

Greg was prompt and great to deal with on email!  Very professional.  I was excited to get some help with our lawn while on maternity leave.  But his crew arrived and told me they couldn't mow because their main machine was broken.  Not a big deal, but 5 minutes later they just started mowing my larger lawn with a very old push mower without saying a word to me. 

Mind you, they did a GREAT job on my lawn and one person trimmed with absolute precision...but the problem was their price kept changing.  At first he told me $60, then halfway through the job told me, "actually it's closer to $65 with tax and stuff."  Finally, when I went to write them the check, he said the price was somehow up to $70. 

It takes my husband about an hour to mow our lawn with a push mower, so it was strange to me how the price kept rising.  I did not appreciate the price fluctuation and wanted others to beware that the crew may adjust your price.

It went really well. I've not met anyone from the company, so I appreciate the great reviews he had received. We've not had a lot of snow this year, so I wondered if they'd show up when it finally did. I came home from work and it was all done! I was very happy to not have to deal with the snow after working all day. I plan to use him for lawn work, as well.

It was sub par.  I would not recommend them to anyone.  I would not use them again.  I feel they did not do a good job on my yard and they were not friendly.

The service did a great job.  Arrived verly early AM after the snowfall and removed more than I even expected. So far, so good.  I would definitely recommend.

Was surprised to learn that the original estimate didn't include them hauling away the cut off branches and debris. Was charged an extra $10 to have them dispose of it. I had assumed that when you hire someone to trim, they automatically take care of it.  I guess they charged me according to how many bags they filled. 

They are very cordial.  I think they are excellent in every way.  Greg is very friendly anc completely reliable.  And they do a good job.

****This is just a quick update to let folks know I hired Greg's Lawn Service again just this week to finish out the 2012 lawn mowing season for us. I called yesterday and said we were looking for weekly help for the rest of the season. Since they provided our service last year, they knew the property. I asked if there was any way they could start yet this week. And -- the crew was at our house today! I highly recommend Greg's Lawn Service!

This is the best money I spend each week! I left a voicemail for Greg, he followed up with a letter and contract in the mail after coming out to look at the size of our property. After that we had one phone call about details and they have been working like clock work each week. I was able to request a specific day of the week for my service to coincide with our garbage pick up (for the lawn clippings).

We have a slightly oversized Minneapolis city lot (we don't have an alley like most in the city). The lawn mowing is straight forward. When it was wet early in the summer, they bagged the grass each week and left the bags in our driveway for us. Now, they just mulch the grass. I did call ask them to start bagging the back yard again last week because the grass gets pretty messy in back - I just left a voicemail and the next week the grass was bagged. I also had to change the schedule one week - just left a voicemail and they came at the new time.

While our mowing is straighforward, our lawn takes a lot of edging - we have a fenced yard and numerous flower beds. They do a wonderful job making everything look perfect!

They send a 3 person crew - one mows the front, one mows the back, and one does the edging. I am usually not home when they are there, but they often are getting started as a I leave for work. I think it takes them just about an hour. This same work takes my husband and I about 2-3 hours working together.

I did a lot of research and Greg's was the most affordable lawn service that I found - and they do spectacular work!

When I came home from work they had already been there and my lawn looked so nice. That's prompt service!!!!  It just really makes my day to come home to a mowed lawn. I've used Greg for about 3 years for lawn mowing and snow removal. They're reliable, quick, leave the yard tidy - no grass on the sidewalks, and do a marvelous job of trimming around the fence.  I've also used them to clean up brush and trim bushes.  I do all my arrangements with Greg by email - I just send him a list of what I need done, he sends me a quote and when I get home it's done.  I'm a very happy customer and I highly recommend his service!
