We were concerned about one of the fireplaces because the pilot light had been burning with quite a large yellow flame that seemed to be getting larger over the past months - this prompted our call to Dr. Dave. Scheduling the appointment was quick and easy. Dr Dave got hung up in traffic on the way to my home for the appointment, but he called promptly to let me know what happened and when he would arrive. When he arrived, he handled our 2 barking dogs extremely well - they became quick friends, and Dave was very careful going in & out with his tools to make sure the dogs didn't make a run for it. He cleaned and did routine maintenance on 2 gas fireplace inserts that had been neglected for years. Not only did he clean them out and check to make sure everything was in good working order, he even touched up some of the paint for us. The fireplaces haven't been this clean and looked this good since the day they were installed! In addition to the regular maintenance, he made sure I knew how to take the glass off to clean it and how to make adjustments to ensure the fireplaces would continue in good working order for many years to come.

Dave went far beyond cleaning the fireplaces. He also fixed the remote controls and thermostats. The fireplaces were well cleaned, and new material was placed in them that glows nicely when they are lit. They look like new! I also mentioned to him that the flame on one of the fireplaces would suddenly jump on occasion. Dave traced the problem down 2 levels in my house to another gas appliance that needed a regulator in order for my fireplace to work correctly. Both my fireplaces now work perfectly.

They scheduled a saturday call on short notice which was much appreciated. Dave was great and very thorough. Dave was a nice guy, very much the engineer type and methodically (yet quite quickly) got us up and running. Communication in scheduling was great, price reasonable and service was thorough. I would recommend to anyone.

Dave identified several possibilities and told me to call a roofer to have the snow and ice removed around the chimney, which I did. The roofer said there was no problem on the roof. Due to severe weather conditions, he did not return until 2-19. The fireplace was working when he left, so I paid him. He said he may have to return to make some adjustments but, that was all part of the same service charge. On 2-20 the fire was slow in starting and 2-21 would not start at all. The pilot was out. I called Dave on 2-24. He did not return my call. I called 2-27 and he said he would try to make it late afternoon 2-28. He did not call or show. I left a message on 3-3 but received no reply. Finally, on 3-10 I hired someone else who happened to be Dave's friend and former partner. He fixed the fireplace and called Dave. Dave called me a few hours later, apologized and said he was in an accident and had truck problems. Did not identify a phone problem. Also, in the 3-1 review, that customer reported excellent service while I was ignored.

I was truly impressed with Dr. Dave and strongly recommend him to service your fireplace and/or your gas stove heater. I was very impressed in the thoroughness in systematic, comprehensive approach taken. The care he put in restoring our fireplace and basement stove was as if he was working on his own. Our fireplace and gas stove basement heater are now looking and working like new. When he was leaving I joked with him and said ?It looks so nice, too bad winter is ending!?

I called the Fireplace Doctor when my fireplace stopped working, and he was the only person I called after seeing his rave reviews. I called on Friday evening, left a message, and Dave's wife called me back first thing Saturday morning. Great response and exceptional customer service from both Dave and his wife. Dave showed up on time, and he knew right away why the fireplace wasn't working. Once he took it apart and we could see how dirty it was, I asked him to clean it, and he did a fantastic job. The fireplace looks brand new! Dave takes a lot of pride in his work, is very knowledgeable, and really seems to enjoy educating customers.

Dave was amazing! (We were given incorrect facts by a previous provider who was supposed to clean and fix our fireplace.) After numerous calls to different fireplace stores, we were given The Fireplace Dr. number. We called them and the receptionist was very helpful and reassuring when I explained the problem. When he arrived I again explained the problem and that we most likely needed a new coupler. He asked numerous questions and examined/tested every bit of the fireplace. He kept looking for another solution because it didn't make sense that our coupler was already bad. In the end, it wasn't. The thermocouple connection was loose! Saved us lots money: no parts charge plus a reduced labor fee because he didn't need to do the cleaning--(which was done by a previous provider...who had put the fireplace incorrectly back together!) He also gave me numerous tips on how to use/care for the fireplace. Very helpful!

It works great now. I have and will continue to recommend the Dr. to friends.

Dave is my regular fireplace service/repairman and, once again, he came to the rescue. Not only does he do a great job cleaning my gas fireplaces, he backs up his work. A short while after he did the annual cleaning of my 20-year-old gas fireplace, a part that I knew would need replaced soon (due to the age of my fireplace) finally stopped working. He returned to replace the part and did not charge labor because he had just been at my house a week or so ago. When I initially found his company on Angie's List, I saw that he had rave reviews. I was skeptical that someone could be that superior, but the fact of the matter is, Dave is one of a kind. He's the repair man who is an expert in his field, a true professional, and an honest worker. I wish there were more service people like him. I guarantee that you won't be disappointed in his work. I've already told all my neighbors and friends about him. He just started repairing gas grills, too, which is good to know for the summer. He's a good guy and he really knows what he's doing. Most of all, he is honest. Because he owns and runs the business, you may have to wait awhile to get him but he is WORTH it!!

Dave came out in the evening to fix our gas fireplace insert which is ~20 years old. He had the required parts in stock and stayed for ~3 hours to complete the repairs, clean it and make sure it ran properly. It looked almost like new afterwards and once again works great. Highly recommend Dave and would definitely use him again.

Dave came by on a bitter cold Saturday morning. He called ahead of the scheduled appointment to see if he could stop by early as his last stop finished early. I agreed. When he arrived he assessed the situation. My fireplace pilot was blowing itself out. I told him about the new gas meter than got installed. This lead him to the conclusion that the new pressure was too high and that I needed to have a regulator installed on the line. So, he went outside, cut the copper line, flared the ends and installed the regulator. Then, he came back inside and did a thorough cleaning and testing of the fireplace. All while Dave did his work, he was explaining the do's and don'ts of gas fireplaces and told me a bit about the model I had. Furthermore, he told me how I can improve the fireplace installation on my own in the Spring and reduce drafts. The overall visit took no more than 1.5 hours, and he was off to the next job. Dave is very friendly, knowledgeable, thorough, and does high quality work from my experience. I'd definitely recommend him to anybody.

Dave inspected, cleaned and tuned an Extrodinaire fireplace that possibly hadn't ever been cleaned by the previous owners (we bought our house not long ago). When I called to schedule the service, i spoke with Dave's wife, who was very friendly and explained everything he would potentially do and what it would cost and the cost was as expected. He was very thorough and professional and gave us a list of all the tasks he performed. Our fireplace looks new and is running great. He also called to let us know he was running behind due to a previous job and called to let us know and then showed up earlier than expected. Very satisfied with the experience and would definitely work with him again.

Service call was promptly returned within an hour. They scheduled an appointment a week later. Arrived a few minutes late, but ahead called to tell us. Both gas inserts had easy to fix wiring issues and only took 15 minutes to fix both. They charged us the cost of only fixing one since they had the same issue. He removed his shoes without being asked and was very friendly.

It works beautifully now and he explained everything effectively He was wonderful and the price was half of what another provider quoted. He was very honest and told me he would not need to return for another three years. He was late for the appointment but he called ahead. He explained he had to do more work than anticipated at another job which was fine with me. I have no complaints and the clean up was excellent.

Dave did a great job. Our fireplace glass had a sooty substance on it. We had never had any maintenance on the fireplace in the past. Dave was able to come out within a week when other companies were booked out until the end of December. He was professional, careful, and did a great job explaining what he was doing and how to maintain the fireplace in the future. Not only did he do a quality job, but the price was great. He charged 40% what I was quoted by another company.

After purchasing our house we discovered that both fireplace would not work. Dave was very responsive and personable, he took the time to show us why they were not working and what we should do to maintain them moving forward. He also installed two wireless controllers. I found his prices more than fair and would recommend his services to anyone.

Dave arrived at 4 P.M. and stayed three hours. He cleaned painted and did a great job. He was neat, efficient. Highly recommend.

I called Dr. Dave concerning my gas fireplace lighting and burning issues. He called back the same day. He came out to my home on the date and time he promised. He identified the issues with my burner and circuitry as well as the gasketing issue with my the glass on my built in fireplace. Dave looked all over the country for the right gasketing. When he received the first gasketing, he decided it would not be the quality he wanted and kept looking. Once Dave found the right material, he came out to my house, fixed all the burner fixtures, repainted the firebox, added in new embers and replaced the gasketing. Everything works and looks like new. I can not be more pleased - over the moon. The alternative was a new built in fireplace which would have meant all the beautiful stone front would have had to come off and a new fireplace installed costing thousands. Dr. Dave is great to work with and he knows his stuff. I would use him again and I highly recommend you call him too.

Dave did a great job of cleaning and servicing our gas fireplace. He was very professional and helpful. We will definitely use him again!

It went really well. We have two gas fireplaces and one of them had been recently cleaned/refurbished. I told Dave that I didn't think the one that had been recently been refurbished should need too much attention, but he said he would do a quick check on it anyway. Well, I'm really glad that he did. The gasket had failed, and we were having Carbon monoxide leaking into our home. Dave cleaned the fireplace, replaced the gasket, and checked the Carbon Monoxide levels again (which were now within acceptable limits). He also was able to adjust the flame setting on this fireplace, and it looks a lot better. Our other fireplace had quite a bit of soot built up all over the screen. Dave mentioned that that level of soot indicates that something isn't working properly. He took the whole thing apart, discovered the problem, and was able to remedy the situation. I was really impressed with his level of knowledge regarding fireplaces. I will definitely be calling him in the future for general maintenance of our fireplaces.
