They were able to remove some stains that had been there for a while. They were able to get them out.

They travel 25 miles for pick-up/drop-off which I appreciate. I think everything looks and smells refreshed when it comes back.

We have used this company many times to have our Oriental rugs cleaned. I'd say at least four or five times over the years, which we think adds up to a lot of business! Yet, when I called this morning to schedule a pick up and cleaning of our rugs, the staff person answering the phone was borderline belligerent and certainly unprofessional. I realize they have certain dates when they pick up in a given metro area, and I did say that we could wait at least a month or longer until a day when one of us could be home in the morning on the appropriate day of the week. The staff person on the phone impatiently said, "Wait wait wait, I offered you Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week. You can't do that? Don't you have a husband who can stay home for a few hours?" First of all, yes, people WORK. I was able to arrange to come in late on Wednesday, but would run into problems transporting my kids in time for their morning activities/childcare. Both my partner and I work with medical patients, so it is not as easy as just coming in a little late. So I said we could wait until August or even September. This was apparently not good enough for the staff member. I don't get it. Why does she care how long we wait?And by the way, about the husband. I don't have one. I have a female spouse. When I indicated that to the person on the phone, she said, "WHAT?" I'm sorry, this is Minneapolis. It's not such an unusual family situation.The worst part is that my spouse is scared to send our rugs anywhere else, because obviously they're expensive and we don't want to risk having something happen to them with a company we haven't used before. I'm inclined to just let them be dirty. I have zero patience for someone being rude and unprofessional to me on the phone when I am spending my hard-earned money with them!

We brought in two Oriental rugs for cleaning and repair; one of them was a family heirloom and I was told it was from Iran (Persia at the time) and was probably about 100 years old. We had an internet coupon which was great because deep cleaning and repairing damage to the edges of both does not come cheaply. The finished prodect was worth the price. We had been warned that the worn patches on the antique rug woudl look a little more so once the accumulation of dirt was washed out, however the brightness of the colors once cleaned, more than compensated for that. They also told us we might have to wait up to 4 weeks to get the rugs back but they were done within 2 weeks which exceeded our expectations. I would certainly recommend American Rug Laundry - especially if one has valuble rugs that need a little TLC.

It was fine overall. Everything looks great and smells great and I'll be using them again. They do a good job and are careful with what you bring to them.

They have been in business for like 200 years. They are very good and professional. The rugs are clean and it is convenient because I can drive them over. Sometimes they run coupons on the computer. We will absolutely continue to use them.

We had a large 10' x 14' rug which they picked up. We had them do a deep wash and were very pleased with the quality of service and the condition of the rug once we had it back home. They are fine and friendly folk,s and I highly recommend them. We shall return.

I brought in a 5' x 8' Kazakh rug. Amer. Rug laundry pointed out damage by moths. They froze the rug to kill the moths and larvae. Used cleaning process that would not cause the vegetable dyes in the rug to run. Pleased with their expertise and will trust them to clean our other rugs in the future.

They did very well overall. One carpet needed some edge rebinding after completion which they did without hesitation.

I called for an estimate, and was told that I'd need to bring in the rug to be sure about the cost. When I arrived, the person who helped me was prompt and knowledgeable, and was careful to manage my expectations about how effective the cleaning may be. The rug was done well within the time estimate provided, and I was satisfied with the quality of the cleaning. Overall, those who dealt with me were matter-of-fact (not chatty or perky), but professional and honest.

I was able to have a pick up on Friday because one of my rugs was "oversized". Usually Minnetonka area is on Wednesday, and that date didn't work for me. I had to have the edge of one of my rugs re-done because my dog ate about 8 inches of the fringe. Only a small amount of the rug was damaged, but enough so they had to figure out a way to attach the fringe to make it look good. They called me with an estimate, which was reasonable (around $200). A couple of weeks later my rugs were delivered and they were so nice & clean....go for that deep cleaning...it's great. But, the fringe area looked a little rough....a little puckered and didn't seem to integrate well. I was glad that I checked it immediately (it was rolled in such a way we had to unroll the entire rug, which was a minor nuisance, but the driver was awesome). The driver and I discussed it and he called Mike at the shop and was told to bring it back to have it looked at. It was delivered back to me in a week & looked much better! I was impressed with their responsiveness and appreciated their fine-tuning the area that was damaged. As far as cost, to repair the fringe was cheap, only 125. The cost to clean the rugs seems high, but this is a deep clean, some areas of the country do not have that service & you may end up having to throw away rugs that these guys can clean!

They have coupons and they do a really good job. They are the best in town and I would continue to use them in future.

It went well. The drop off went quickly. They told me it would take 10 to 14 days and I got an email 6 days later notifying me that the rug was completed. It was wrapped and ready for me when I arrived to pick it up. I was able to use a 25% off coupon as a result of me dropping the rug off.

American Rug Laundry has an excellent reputation in Saint Paul for being the place to bring fragile, expensive rugs. Nevertheless, it was with some trepidation that I brought the beloved, high quality, hand-woven silk and wool Persian carpet I had inherited from my grandfather for cleaning. I was greatly reassured by the knowledge which my service person displayed while we were examining my rug. We discussed several different cleaning possibilities before settling on the one we thought ran the least risk of damaging my carpet, given that we did not know exactly what dyes had been used. I left nervous (this carpet is not only valuable but has important sentimental value to me) but satisfied. I received email a week later, as discussed, and came in to pick up my rug. However, my timing was unfortunate and I arrived just as several other customers were collecting *their* rugs. A different service person (Mike) came to help me. He took my ticket number--and, somewhat to my dismay, I found myself bustled efficiently out to my car and my rug stowed in the back seat before I could say anything about opening the rug or examining it to personally inspect how the cleaning had gone. I did not feel right about this, but assumed all would be well. It is difficult therefore to describe my feelings when I opened up the rug the next morning and discovered that the fringe on one end had been extensively ripped out and damaged--a u-shaped chunk about two feet long was simply missing. I immediately contacted American Rug Laundry (it happened to be Mike who answered the phone) and described the rug. His response was completely calm, and focused from the beginning on resolving my complaint. He wanted to look at the carpet as soon as possible, and gave me the choice of having someone come to my house, or me bringing the rug back to their store, for examination. I opted to bring the rug to them. Before bringing the rug in, despite Mike's reassurances, I was nervous and upset--and of course felt rather silly, having failed to have taken a photo of my rug in the condition in which I had brought it to them when I first arrived at their company (how difficult would it have been to take a snap or two with my cellphone?). Wanting to have proof that the fringe, when I had brought it in to them, was in good condition, I combed through my photo archive, and of course there was no clear recent picture of the rug in its undamaged state--though I did find one or two where it was possible to see that the rug at least HAD fringe in the area where it was now bare. I printed several of these photos out to bring with me to American Rug Laundry. I was fully prepared to pay for the damage myself, but I wanted it to be clear that THIS WAS SOMETHING THEY HAD DONE, and, of course, that I was very upset that they had sent the rug home to me in a damaged condition without giving me forewarning that damage had occurred. When I arrived, Mike and had a frank and--from his end!--calm discussion about my rug, and what could be done about the situation. My primary complaint was not that the rug had been damaged, but that I had been sent home without having a chance to inspect my rug to DISCOVER that it had been damaged. My primary concern was that the rug be fixed, with the highest and most appropriate level of craftsmanship available. Mike went above and beyond addressing both these issues. American Rug Laundry took full responsibility for the damage to my rug, and rewove the fringe completely and beautifully. There is, of course, a gentle color difference, owing to the use of new materials, but the weave is very nicely done and integrates well. This, despite the fact that there is always a risk of damage when a delicate older carpet is cleaned. I appreciated so much that Mike, rather than argue about the miscommunication that had ensued, simply made things right. He did not want to look at the photos I had printed out, and he did not question my integrity when I told him that his company had damaged my rug. He simply took responsibility. Next time, for the safety of my vendor as well as for myself, I will take some pictures. In the meantime, in future, I would be happy to trust my rugs to American Rug Laundry.

My experience with this company was fine. They were very knowledgeable about my rug and they told me what they would do to clean it. They were finished on time and the rug looked good.

Price seemed a little high but quality of serivce was good and personal contact with staff went well. They courteous, knowledgeable and did not try to give us the "hard sell" which we appreciated.

I chose them because they are the experts on Persian rugs and we had inherited them and we wanted to make sure that they were going to be properly cared for. I figure that the price was worth it. They did an excellent job. They were really nice about off the record information.

I felt that I received good attention on drop-off and additional services were presented, like carpet protection and a deep wash. I accepted both extra services. The rugs were done in a week and I got a phone call, and picked them up.

The rug was a prized possession (not mine...) and I was very concerned with getting the rug repaired (you could even say I was desperate)! The American Rug laundry is in my neighborhood so I gave them a try. I did not know the original cost of the rug. They estimated the cost of the rug to be more that $1500.00 (the original purchaser of the rug reports that the actual cost of the rug was 1/3 of that -- and less than what I paid to repair it). One corner of the rug was gone and needed to be rewoven, the other "bites" could be repaired. The process was explained to me in detail (thanks!), and I was clearly told that it wouldn't look exactly like the original rug. The quoted price of $600.00 seemed high to me, however I did not have information regarding the original cost of the rug, and I wanted to repair it quickly. The work described seemed fairly laborious - so I consented to pay this amount. I was told that the rug would be ready in a minimum of 4 weeks. I was called about two weeks later and was told that the rug was done. I was very pleased with the repair work on long side of the rug, but I was VERY DISAPPOINTED by the work done on the corner, considering what I had paid. The corner curls, is not nearly as thick as the original rug (I don't care that the pattern doesn't match), and doesn't look like it was constructed with similar materials (as I was told it would be). The day I picked up the rug I was told that the person I would need to speak with about my concern was gone for the day. He did return my call once, but I have not heard back from him again. I feel like I was taken advantage of: I was given an inflated estimate of the value of the rug, then was overcharged (I was asked to pay up front) based on the work that was done (which was then done is less than half the time I was told it would take). I would like a partial refund from the American Rug Laundry because I believe that the work done does not match the work described (and paid for) in the original estimate.

They were friendly and easy to deal with. They honored a coupon they had in the paper and also emailed me to let me know the work had been completed and the rug was ready to pick. They did a great job.

When I got the rug back it was bright and the colors really stood out. They rug was ready at the estimated time and the price was as estimated as well. I had a coupon that saved me some.

I dropped the rug off on Friday afternoon. The person who checked it in said to expect it to be done the following week, and I would get a call. You pay when you drop it off. The next week passed, and it got to be Thursday of the week after that, so I called. The rug was ready. I can't be certain whether they failed to call me or I misunderstood. However, I do not regard that to be terribly important. The rug looks great, the dog smell is gone. Our trusty old dog seems to be attracted to this particular rug so we're putting it away for awhile. It is wrapped in brown paper and ready to store. It wasn't cheap, but is 1/3 the price of a new rug. I think you are paying for expertise here, and you tend to get what you pay for.

It was ready in about 1 1/2 weeks. It seems much better. The stains and odor are gone. The cats have not revisited the scene of the crime so we are hoping it pretty much came out. Tried to pick up the carpet once at about ten minutes before closing but they had already left. Call ahead if you are cutting it close.

Cleaner was prompt, asked questions professionally & cleaned regular carpet. Work was excellent.

Overall things went pretty well. I dropped off my rugs and they were cleaned in a shorter period of time than I was quoted (about 10 days). The drop off and pick up process was very organized and easy. A very nice group of people run the business. I was a bit disappointed in the cost and the fact that my rugs don't lay flat anymore. There are a few places that buckle a little bit. But, I can't say for sure it is due to anything the launderers did. I might hire them in the future, but with the cost I am going to try avoid it for as long as possible.
