All Day Haul Away

I had some difficulty getting my messages and phone calls returned. Finally, we arranged the pickup of the trash. But only one person came to perform the service. He arrived about 30 minutes late. He did a good enough job, but seemed uncertain of payment and was unsure whether he would be able to get help if it was needed. However, the price was good for what they did. I purchased the service through Angie's list.

I am not likely to use Hunks Removing Junk ever again -- not because the movers were not polite, courteous, careful and efficient, but because of the owner?s attitude and customer service. Note that for nearly each item removed, there is an added-on recycling fee. I had purchased a discount via Groupon and the additional cost was unexpected. But the movers showed me their recycling cost list before they moved anything and I agreed to pay knowing that the movers had no control over charges. I probably would not have purchased the discount had I known their were additional fees, but the nice ?Hunks? were here so I agreed. Before handing them cash, I told them I expected a receipt. They were unable to print one for me so they phoned ?The Boss? to have one emailed to me. To eliminate any confusion (so I thought) I asked to speak to ?The Boss". Before giving the owner my email address, I said I just wanted him to know that the recycling fees were a surprise to me and I felt there should some brief mention of additional fees on Groupon. Well, politely giving feedback was a big mistake. ?The Boss? became highly argumentative, making comparisons to coupons for his other business, a Red Lobster franchise. I tried to explain that I had already agreed to pay and that I was only giving him my feedback but he was already invested in his tirade. He would not stop ranting and would not let me explain my intentions to pay the movers what it cost and send them along to get out of the hot summer sun. It was embarrassing but the movers were taking it in stride. On a couple occasions, I had to put the phone down and let the owner s*** on while I talked to the movers saying that I could remedy the situation by paying by check with the check being my receipt. They apologized profusely for the owner?s behavior, I handed them the phone and asked them to let the owner know we have resolved any problems. I could still hear the owner spouting on the phone as I walked in the house. I wrote out a check, walked back to the alley and ?The Boss? was STILL arguing to the air! In addition, I may have been naive to think that Hunks Removing Junk would reuse certain items. One of the items I had removed was a like-new leather recliner. I cringed when I learned it would not be saved and reused. But, as I said, the ?Hunks? who were doing the work on one of the hottest days of the year were complete gentlemen, experts in what they do, considerate, understanding and -- above all -- patient in the heat of the day. Sadly, I?d rather give my business to someone who appreciates me as a customer.

It went great. I ended up sending off much more with them than originally planned, and no problem! They took the old fridge from the basement which was difficult to bring upstairs, but no complaints.

It took them about 2 hours and 2 employees came out. They were very nice and got the job done. There was less cleaning than I thought there was going to be, but all in all I was pleased with what they did.

I found them on Angie's List. They were good, and I had no problems. I was happy with their work.

The service was fine. A couple of guys came out and did the job in a few hours, and they were prompt. They were fine. They did exactly what I needed them to do.

I first called last Friday to schedule the dumpster delivery. At this time they asked for my credit card number to have on file in case of additional charges, which I understood. The day of delivery came and they did not show up. I gave them an extra day and they still didn't show up. I then emailed, no response. I called again on Thursday and Friday. Today (Friday) I was finally able to speak to someone at their office who said they don't have any record of my delivery. I asked if they could have someone deliver the dumpster today, and he agreed. This was at 11 am. I called back at 4:30pm when the dumpster still hadn't been delivered and person in the office stated he would call her right back and has not called back.

Very well. I put the stuff in the drive the night before. Next day when got home from work it was gone. Called me with a couple of questions when arrived to get the stuff, which I really appreciated.

There was some miscommunication about when they were supposed to come. It took us a few days to figure it out but we finally did. They brought us a very tall dumpster and I couldn't see over the top. As tall as it was we needed to throw everything over the top. I ended up needing it for one more day which cost me an additional $7.00. It wasn't the safest piece of equipment.

We ordered a Five Cubic Yard dumpster for delivery to our home in the eastern suburbs of St. Paul, and collection of the same five days later. We placed the order on Friday and telephoned at 9:30 am on the following Monday to confirm receipt of the order, and make arrangements for delivery of the dumpster. The telephone listed on the advertisement is a cellular phone whose voice mail box was full and could not receive additional messages. (This was a bad sign, because it says something about their business practices: Either there are lots of dissatisfied customers, like me, or disorganized operations, or both.) The phone system did permit customers to enter their telephone number, which would be sent to the company phone, so that customers could receive a return call. I entered my telephone number but did not receive a return call. (Another bad sign.) After two hours, I telephoned again and was able to reach Mr. Peterson. He noted that beyond a 20-mile service area from Osseo, Minnesota, it was not "worth it" for his firm to perform at the price they posted to Angie's List. He was, however, willing to perform if we paid an additional 20 percent "fee" above the price we paid. The term limiting performance to a "20 mile area from Osseo" is not listed in the "Fine Print" conditions on the Order. It is bait and switch. "Hunks Moving Junk" is disorganized and disreputable. In order to avoid being held up (on your project) or shaken down (for more money) Angie's List buyers should beware!

Because I had roofing, they thought that it would be too heavy. They offered me an upgrade which I accepted. Everything went fine.

They explained very well why they couldn't service the big deal I bought through them and offered to do work instead just outside of the big deal.

The scheduling was difficult . They offered a different deal. I purchased a three day rental and they didn't have a dumpster so they only had a truck. They took and did the job in one day. However, they couldn't take a mattress which wasn't listed on their list of things that they could not take. They were friendly and easy to work with .

They were prompt, respectful and efficient.

They showed up promptly at the scheduled time and quickly loaded my discards on the truck and gave me a receipt. The guys were polite.

I was told they would be at my home at 10:00. They got here at 10:30, but they called around 10:15. They removed the junk quickly and carefully. They were friendly and professional.

I was concerned the day before the service as Brent and I had a robust discussion on the phone about the meaning of "weight load " and what the certificate really included . However, when the "hunks" arrived they could not have been nicer or more helpful! They were cheerful about moving some very cumbersome junk. There were a couple of things that clearly did not fit the specifics of the deal but they young men moved these items to the cub for me so I could have the regular waste hauler collect them. I would have to think about the price without the deal, but it is a huge advantage to me to have someone to do the heavy lifting.

It was a really, really good experience. They were prompt in contacting us. They came out on time. 2 guys came out and it was over very quickly because they were very efficient. There were no problems with it at all.

I had trouble connecting with Hunks to schedule our appointment. Once we connected - all went well. I had all the junk out on the driveway so all they had to do was load it into their truck. The driver/hunk was polite and got it all done.

Rented a 5 cubic yard dumpster, using Angie's List deal. Very difficult to arrange by Angie's List, finally had to call twice to arrange. Took over a month to arrange. My wife was very careful to ask about what could be placed in dumpster, but still had $20 additional charge. Very beat up dumpster, that did not close at the bottom, allowing debris to sift through. Overall, only fair experience.

Things went fairly well. I had a treadmill that stopped working & they needed to get a saw to cut it up & take it out of the basement. The 2 guys were very friendly & helpful.

I was very satisfied with this company. I specifically requested a dumpster to be on wheels so that it would not damage my newer concrete driveway. The dumpster was delivered on the day it was promised and was on wheels. The representatives were always very professional and friendly. It was a great experience.

Provider sent two inexperienced young men that appeared to be very tired from the previous job and told me they had to go back. They were nice and polite. The appointment was set for between 12-2 pm. They arrived at 4:15 pm. The young men worked very hard and got the job done. It did take longer than I expected. The price was not a "Big Deal". They wanted to charge me an additional $38.00 to move the TV hutch but after the wait all day we negotiated the price to $20 which I felt was more than fair. Also, later I noticed there was a gouge in my wood floor from a piece of dropped furniture. I would not use them again.
