I WOULD LIKE FOR THIS COMPANY TO LIVE UP TO THEIR AD THAT STATES "YOU WILL BE ASTOUNDED BY OUR SERVICE AND PROFESSIONALISM OR THE SERVICE CALL IS ON US." I WOULD LIKE THEM TO COME OUT AND SERVICE THE UNITS AND I DO NOT WANT TO BE CHARGED AS PER THEIR ADD IN THE ANGIE'S LIST PUBLICATION.
Description of Work: THEY INSTALLED AN AIR CONDITIONER. THIS COMPANY SOLD ME A NEW DUCTLESS A/C UNIT. ON THE DAY INSTALLATION, I DISCOVERED THAT WE WERE UNDER-QUOTED. ONCE THAT WAS RESOLVED, THE ONE DAY JOB TURNED INTO A TWO DAY JOB. IT TOOK THE ELECTRICIAN 3 WEEKS TO FINISH HIS PART OF THE JOB, LEAVING US WITH ELECTRICAL WORK THAT WAS NOT UP TO CODE. THE ELECTRICAL WORK WAS FINALLY BROUGHT UP TO CODE. A FEW WEEKS LATER, A PAINTING CREW ON A SEPARATE JOB PULLED THE INTERIOR TUBING OUT OF ALL THREE A/C UNITS. THE TUBING WAS EXPOSED ON THE EXTERIOR OF THE HOME. MY CONCERN WAS THAT THE UNIT COULD BE DAMAGED BY HAVING THE INTERIOR COMPONENTS EXPOSED TO THE ELEMENTS. NOBODY FROM TOTAL COMFORT KNEW THE ANSWER AND THEY WOULD NOT COME OUT TO ASSESS THE PROBLEM. IT'S BEEN ABOUT THREE WEEKS SINCE I CALLED TOTAL COMFORT ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND I STILL HAVE NOT HEARD A RESPONSE. I HAVE TALKED TO THE TECH AND THE SALES REP AND RECENTLY LEFT MESSAGES. THEY ALL PROMISED TO GET BACK TO ME BUT NOBODY DID.

DAVE, THE SALES PERSON, WAS VERY THOROUGH. THE INSTALLERS WERE A LITTLE LATE ARRIVING (ABOUT 1/2 HOUR). THEY WERE PROFESSIONAL AND LET US KNOW ABOUT ANY MODIFICATIONS THEY WOULD NEED TO MAKE TO THE CEILING IN OUR FURNACE ROOM. THEY SHOWED US THE OPERATION OF THE FURNACE AND ANY MAINTENANCE REQUIRED.
Description of Work: REPLACED OUR FURNACE AND AIR CONDITIONER. DAVE DID A THOROUGH JOB OF DETERMINING THE SIZE WE REQUIRED AND ANY ISSUES WITH BUILDING CODES THAT MIGHT BE AN ISSUE. WE PURCHASED AN 80% EFFICIENT FURNACE BASED ON HIS RECOMMENDATIONS.

THEY HAD THE SECOND BEST PRICE OF THE THREE ESTIMATES WE RECEIVED. WE CHOSE THEM BECAUSE THEY HAD A BETTER RATED BRAND OF AIR CONDITIONER, AND THEY HAD SERVICED OUR FURNACE PREVIOUSLY. THEY DID A GOOD JOB, WERE FAST, AND THE NEW MACHINE WORKS GREAT.

HEADQUARTERS OPERATOR WAS PLEASANT TO DEAL WITH OVER THE PHONE. SALESPERSON, DAVID ROTH, WAS EXCELLENT. VERY PROFESSIONAL, FRIENDLY, AND GIFTED COMMUNICATOR. I THOUGHT HE DID A PARTICULARLY GOOD JOB ASSESSING WHAT WORK WOULD NEED TO BE DONE IN THE UTILITY ROOM AND I LIKED THE DESIGN HE PROPOSED FOR AMENDING THE FURNACE COMPARTMENT HOUSING THE INDOOR COIL. BID WAS CLEARLY PRESENTED, BOTH VERBALLY AND IN WRITTEN FORM, AND COMPARABLE TO OTHERS. ULTIMATELY WE DECIDED WE JUST DIDN'T WANT TO GO WITH THE BRAND THEY SELL (TRANE) OUT OF CONCERNS WITH THE SPINE-FIN COIL DESIGN THOSE PARTICULAR UNITS UTILIZE. NONETHELESS, THEY'RE DEFINITELY A COMPANY WORTH RECEIVING A BID FROM.

IN GENERAL THEY WERE VERY PROFESSIONAL & CLEAN. ALL TECHS INVOLVED (4 TOTAL)WERE VERY COURTEOUS AND WORKED VERY HARD TO INSTALL OUR ERV UNIT CORRECTLY. IT DID TAKE TWO VISITS (IN A 10 DAY PERIOD) TO COMPLETE THE INSTALLATION AS SOON AS WE HAD A TECH THAT WAS FAMILIAR WITH THE WIRING FOR A SYSTEM THAT BOTH VENT BATHROOMS AND EXCHANGES AIR, ALL WAS WORKING WELL. TO THEIR CREDIT, THIS WAS ALL BECAUSE THEY WANTED TO DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME. THE FIRST SET OF TECHS, WHEN UNSURE OF THE PROPER WIRING FOR OUR SYSTEM, CALLED IN THE SUPERVISOR FROM VACATION (BOAT& FISHING GEAR IN TOW)TO MAKE SURE ALL WAS DONE RIGHT. WHEN THEY INFORMED ME THEY NEEDED TO SEND ANOTHER TECH THE FOLLOWING WEEK, I WAS A BIT ANNOYED, BUT THEY DIDN'T BAT AN EYE WHEN I SAID I WOULDN'T PAY UNTIL THE JOB WAS DONE. WHEN THE INSTALLATION WAS COMPLETE AND I WAS SAYING GOODBYE TO THE TECH, THE DOOR BELL RANG & LOW AND BEHOLD IT WAS THE SUPERVISOR THAT WAS CALLED FROM VACATION STOPPING BY TO MAKE SURE ALL WENT WELL - NICE.

MITCH AND ANOTHER TECHNICIAN CAME OUT TO INSPECT MY FURNACE. HE HAD BEEN AT MY HOUSE TWO AND HALF YEARS AGO WHEN MY A/C HAD BEEN REPLACED AND A GOOD DEAL OF WORK HAD BEEN DONE ON THE DUCT WORK TO TRY AND IMPROVE THE AIR FLOW IN MY 3-LEVEL TOWNHOME. MITCH REMEMBERED THE PROBLEMS THAT I HAD ORIGINALLY HAD, AND STILL HAD ALL THE SPECS THAT HAD BEEN COLLECTED IN THE ORIGINAL WORK-UP OF MY HOME. THE OLD FURNACE WAS 15 YEARS OLD SO IT WAS NOT EXACTLY A SURPRISE TO FIND THAT I NEEDED A NEW ONE. IVAN AND DRISS CALLED TO LET ME KNOW WHEN THEY WOULD ARRIVE. WHEN THEY ARRIVED, THEY CAREFULLY LAID OUT CLEAN DROP CLOTHS FROM THE PATIO DOOR TO THE FURNACE ROOM. THAT WAS MUCH APPRECIATED AS I HAVE OFF-WHITE CARPETING. IVAN INSTALLED THE PROGRAMMABLE T-STAT, AND MADE SURE I UNDERSTOOD HOW TO USE IT. THEY CLEANED UP THE WORK AREA BEFORE LEAVING, AND THE FURNACE WORKED THE FIRST TIME I NEEDED IT. I'M ANXIOUS TO SEE HOW EFFICIENT IT WILL BE THIS WINTER.

STEVES HAWES WAS THE SALES REPRESENTATIVE. HE SEEMED TO BE MORE A TECHNICIAN THAN A SALESMAN, WHICH HAS PROS AND CONS. HE REALLY KNEW TECHNICAL THINGS, ESPECIALLY ABOUT WAYS TO IMPROVE AIR FLOW. HOWEVER, HIS ATTENTION TO DETAIL IN THE ACTUAL BID WASN'T AS GREAT. AS WE CONTINUED DISCUSSING HIS PROPOSAL, HE KEPT THINKING OF THINGS TO ADD (OH, YOU WANT A NEW THERMOSTAT, THAT'S $X MORE). HE DID NOT LEAVE US WITH A WRITTEN QUOTE--HE HAD TO FAX IT, AND IT ARRIVED A WEEK LATER. THERE WAS ALSO A MIXUP ON THE APPT TIME--I THOUGHT 5PM, HE THOUGHT 6PM, AND SINCE HE DIDN'T CALL TO CONFIRM UNTIL HE WAS ON HIS WAY, WE WERE LEFT WONDERING IF HE WAS COMING (AT THAT TIME OF DAY, THE OFFICE WAS NO LONGER OPEN TO ''LIVE'' CALLS TO THE SALES AREA). I INDICATE I WOULD NOT HIRE FOR FUTURE WORK BECAUSE I PREFER SEDGWICK AT THIS POINT, NOT THAT I FEEL TOTAL COMFORT IS ''BAD''.

THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN WAS PUNCTUAL AND VERY COURTEOUS. HE PERFORMED THE REPAIRS IN A TIMELY MANNER AND EXPLAINED THE SERVICE AGREEMENT WELL.
Description of Work: THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN CHECKED THE OVEN TO DETERMINE EXACTLY WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. THE DETERMINATION WAS THAT THE OVEN'S IGNITER WAS NO LONGER FUNCTIONING. HE INFORMED ME OF THE COST TO REPAIR (PARTS AND LABOR) AND ASKED IF HE SHOULD CONTINUE. UPON AGREEING, HE BEGIN THE WORK. IN TOTAL, THE WORK TOOK APPROXIMATELY 25 MIN. AFTER CHECKING THE OVEN TO MAKE SURE IT WAS IGNITING, WE WENT OVER THE SERVICE AGREEMENT, EXPLANATION OF THE BILLING AND HE WAS KIND ENOUGH TO TELL ME A COMPANY FROM WHOM I COULD PURCHASE REPLACEMENT TURN-ON KNOBS. HE WORKED EFFICIENTLY AND CLEANLY. PAYMENT WAS MADE BY CHECK AND HE DEPARTED.

OUR TECHNICIAN COMPLETED A FURNACE AND AIR-CONDITIONER TUNE-UP. HE FOUND THE HEAT EXCHANGER VERY RUSTED AND STRESSED. THE AIR-CONDITIONER DESIGN WAS POOR. OUR TECHNICIAN STRONGLY RECOMMENDED ANNUAL MAINTENANCE TO ASSURE GOING FORWARD THE SAFETY AND EFFICIENCY OF THE EQUIPMENT. OUR MAINTENANCE PROGRAM PROVIDES ANNUAL TUNE-UPS FOR FURNACE AND AIR-CONDITIONERS, ALONG WITH SAME DAY SERVICE. ALL MANUFACTURES RECOMMEND ANNUAL PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE TO MAINTAIN EQUIPMENT OPERATIONS AND EFFICIENCY. WARRANTIES ARE VOIDED IF ANNUAL MAINTENANCE IS NOT COMPLETED ON A REGULAR BASIS. I WAS VERY PLEASED WITH TOTAL COMFORT'S WORK. THE SALESPERSON WAS ON TIME AND THOROUGH, NO PRESSURE OR GIMMICKS. OF THE FOUR COMPANIES WHO GAVE ME QUOTES, THEY WERE THE ONLY ONES TO TAKE THE TIME TO INSPECT MY ENTIRE SYSTEM INCLUDING DUCTS AND RETURNS, AND AS A CONSEQUENCE THEY WERE ABLE TO FIX A BOTTLENECK IN MY RETURN DUCTS WHICH HAS IMPROVED THE AIR QUALITY IN MY HOUSE SIGNIFICANTLY. THEY WERE ALSO ABLE TO DO THE JOB WITHIN A FEW DAYS OF MY DECISION, WHEN OTHER COMPANIES WERE QUOTING WEEKS. THE INSTALL CREW WAS ON TIME AND PLEASANT, AND THEY DID A GOOD JOB OF CLEANING UP AFTERWARDS.

I SELECTED TOTAL COMFORT FROM FOUR BIDS THAT I RECEIVED FROM TOP COMPANIES ON ANGIE'S LIST. I AM VERY HAPPY WITH THEIR WORK. MY IMPRESSION FROM OTHER ANGIES LIST EVALUATIONS WAS THAT TC HAS A PARTICULAR EMPHASIS ON UNDERSTANDING HOW AIR FLOW IMPACTS BOTH COMFORT AND THE HEALTH OF THE FURNACE. MY EXPERIENCE CONFIRMS THIS IMPRESSION. THEY WERE THE ONLY COMPANY THAT DISCUSSED THIS AT LENGTH IN WHAT I FELT WAS A KNOWLEDGEABLE WAY. THEY ALSO HAVE A SERVICE IN WHICH THEY TEST FOR CRACKS IN THE HEAT EXCHANGE. I MADE USE OF IT AND WAS REALLY SURPRISED AT WHAT THEY SHOWED ME. I HAD THE GAS COMPANY COME OUT TWICE WITHIN RECENT MEMORY AND THEY NEVER EVEN CHECKED FOR THE CRACKS THAT TOTAL COMFORT FOUND. AFTER INSTALLATION THEY CAME BACK THE NEXT DAY TO MAKE SOME ADJUSTMENTS. TOTAL COMFORT INSTALLS TRANE FURNACES, AND AS FAR AS I CAN TELL, THERE'S NO REASON TO DOUBT THE QUALITY OF THESE UNITS.

THEY RESPONDED PROFESSIONALLY, PROMPTLY, AND GOT US UP AND RUNNING AGAIN. I WAS SO PLEASED WITH THEIR SERVICE, I SIGNED UP FOR THE DIAMOND PLUS PLAN FOR ONGOING MAINTENANCE. SCOTT HORN WAS COURTEOUS AND APPEARED QUITE COMPETENT. ANSWERED ALL MY QUESTIONS TO MY SATISFACTION. I WOULD RECOMMEND THEM.
