Hage Concrete Works

They were absolutely great. They were on time. They did a neat job. The boss himself came out in order to do they laying because he enjoys the work. He's professional and highly skilled in every way. They responded very quickly. I was incredibly happy with what they did.

Work yet to be done but the work will be outstanding.

Concrete stamping on patio is a poor match in several places. Driveway color very uneven because different loads of concrete not blended. Manager not very responsive to owner concerns.

Good! They built our home and was done very fast.

The estimator was very professional, knowledgable, and punctual. This is the first time I've ever had to pay for an estimate though ($25). That seemed odd to me. I'm sure they do quality work, but the estimate was about 25% higher that the company I eventually went with.

The steps turned out great. It was a tricky piece of work as the house is 100 years old and has two circular concrete buttresses on either side of steps. They were able to replicate original design exactly. The driveway also turned out well. Halfway into the project we requested an addition of a piece to be poured between ours and our neighbors driveway to replace existing asphalt and they made the addition without batting an eye. This company is extremely easy to work with. A feature I found interesting was that they stamped the finished driveway with their company logo. They know the work is quality and will last!

I contacted Hage Concrete for a bid on some concrete repair work at my home that I estimate will cost $2000 or more. Hage wanted me to pay them $25,00 to estimate the work for me. Granted that fee would be refunded if I had them do the work but I find it very offensive that they do not believe in themselves and their ability to sell their services enough to offer free estimates.

The quality of their service was high. They are very professional. They've been around for hundred years. They know what they're doing. They're not cheap but they're the best.

They were just excellent. I speak very highly of them. They were not the cheapest, but throrough and really had to do some designing when they took out my old steps and did a lovely job of blending the new with old.

All appointments were kept punctually, both for the estimate and for performing the work. There was a little glitch at the beginning of the project: due to an ambiguity in the way the contract was worded the man working the digging machine dug in the wrong spot for the refuse pad. I told him about it, and after a brief and agreeable discussion about the relative worth of pictures and words he smoothed out where he had dug and put the hole where I wanted it. That was all I needed to say; over the course of the project they smoothed out the hole and put in sod to make it better than it was. I glanced out occasionally to watch the people as they worked, and was impressed with the care and time that they took make sure everything was done properly. For example, I watched the man set the forms where the sidewalk would abut an existing driveway. The interface was complex both horizontally and vertically, and he spent a long time with level and straightedge going back and forth adjusting things until he had the forms just how he wanted them. There were no wasted motions; the people clearly knew what they were doing, and they took the time to do it right. The results were evident in how the sidewalk turned out. The project was completed on time, and the sidewalks look perfect.

We signed a contract with them and they'll be doing the service in a couple of weeks. I have used them before and we pursue on using their service because of their warranty and we were pleased with their work before. They were very knowledgeable and seem to do the job properly.

I called for a bid on some concrete work needed in front of my home. While the person answering the phone was respectful; after hearing the description of the work to be done, she promptly said there would be a $25 fee charged if I wanted a bid. This was not something that I saw contained in their Angie's site description. Disappointed to say the least!

Hage charges a $25 estimate fee. Since I wanted estimates from multiple providers I wasn't willing to incur this fee, and fundamentally I don't want to work with a firm that charges me for sales calls. I am providing this review so that other Angie's List members that feel the same way don't waste their time communicating with Hage.

The Bid was prompt and professional, very friendly.Lots of input on design and detail options to enhance the job. The bid was thorough and detailed. I know Hage does good work and I really wanted to use them. High quality concrete, coated rebar, sealing ect. They provide a life time guarantee on their work..... if you never put any kind of salt or salt substitute on it.... Although I usually use grit and sand, i know there are times when that is not enough. like this last winter. Forever sounds great for somethings, but other things the next homeowner may not keep or like. In the end I just couldn't afford Hage, although I sure they do good work. Their bid was at least 30-40+% more than the next most expensive bid. I just couldn't afford them.

They were prompt, courteous, and professional. They arrived when scheduled for the estimate, assessed the area, and provided the estimate. They kept us informed about when the job was done. After the concrete had set, they returned and did a very nice clean up. I didn't rate the cost because they were the only company who was willing to provide an estimate for pouring the relatively small patio.

I cancelled the estimate appointment as I was told there was a $25 charge to do an estimate. No other vendors charged for an estimate. I was told that the $25 would be credited for any services performed.

Fabulously. Came in days ahead of schedule, very well done. Personal attention by the owner, who was very personable, honest, and a pleasure to work with.

They came in at an excellent price, we started working on the quotes in the summer and actually got the work done in the fall. We actually got the owner, one of the original owners to come out, so it was kind of a kick to see him. They were very punctual, the people came in and did really good work and cleaned up very well afterwards. Everything worked out really well. A+

Owner Ole Hage contacted me and got the idea of what I was aiming for. He came up with material ideas for the front steps. He arranged for the concrete forman and the stone mason. These gentlemen, very experienced in their respective crafts, came up with designs. A third forman, the landscaper, provided a design for the paver patios. THe workd started about 3 weeks later and took 1 month to complete. Each group of workers was very respectful, punctual and easy to communicate with.

We were extremely pleased with Ole and his crew from Hage Concrete. Ole responded promptly to our request for a bid. After providing an initial estimate, he arranged for us to meet with his designer to flesh out our project. (Hage was the only contractor of the five who bid on our project that provided the services of a designer.) The designer helped us put our ideas onto paper, and crystalize our view of the project. Hage's final bid was extremely competitive, especially considering their guarantee (lifetime guarantee against cricks) and the high quality concrete they use (proprietary mix designed specifically for this climate with higher psi than the typical 400-450 psi). Work started within a week of signing our contract. The crew was polite and hardworking. Whereas all of the other contractors said they would need to use a Bobcat to complete the project, Ole's crew did all of the work by hand, saving us from having to repair ruts in our lawn that the other contractors acknowledged their Bobcats would make. The project was completed promptly. The foreman gave us daily progress reports and consulted with us regularly to make sure things were being done was we wanted them. We are very pleased with our new patio and highly recommend Ole and Hage concrete to anyone in need of concrete work.

We did not go with them because they were quite a bit higher than everybody else. They do unbelievable work and guarantee it which nobody else does. It was based on their reputation that we invited them out for a bid. Our overall experience with them was really nice. The gentleman that came out was very cordial and nice; he came out in the course of time. We had a nice talk. We have no negative vibes whatsoever, other than the cost. If we had the money they would have been our first choice.

They do a first class job and you get what you pay for. The salesman was timely, courteous, and got back to me quickly with an estimate. The cement guy who performed the work did a great job, the worker who followed up and did some sealing, also did a great job. Everyone who was associated with them was friendly and punctual. It was just a positive experience all around.

Hage's estimator was friendly and helpful, but we did not use them because their price was too high.
