Description of Work: Walt came over to review our home, discussed the process and timing, and provided a quote. He was very knowledgeable and helpful. After reviewing his estimate with others, we went with Walt and ARS. Walt, Ben and Sam arrived on time, walked us through the process, and then started working. They were very considerate, did a great job installing the radon mitigation system and cleaning up. The system looks good and works great. Walt provides a short term radon test that we used to ensure our radon levels dropped to what was expected (which they did). We would highly recommend Walt and ARS for radon mitigation services.

Description of Work: We needed to have our radon tested because insulation and new storm windows were added to our house. Walt gave us a free test. When the results came back as a six, Walt told us that it would be more appropriate for us to get an air exchanger then have radon mitigation, Walt is not licensed to install air exchangers in Minneapolis. He was extraordinarily knowledgeable and professional. I would recommend him to anyone and would use him if I needed radon work done.

Hey thanks! Maxing the reduction to super low levels goes hand in glove with ensuring all suction is relegated to below slab. Again, much appreciate the kudos.

Thanks for the review, but I'm afraid you might be confusing us with another radon company. (They all sound the same!) From the price ($195), doesn't sound like something we charged for. We get so few service requests -- out or warranty or withing -- we don't generally charge for them.

Description of Work: We hired Advanced Radon Services LLC, a state-certified mitigation contractor in Minnesota, to help us address a radon level of 16 pCi/L in our new home. Mike from Advanced Radon Services helped us convert our passive system to an active one by installing an attic fan, pressure gauge monitor, and sump pump access panel, as well as better ceiling our sump system. Mike arrive on time and was very friendly and helpful. He even cleaned construction debris out of our sump pump system and gave us advise on how to maintain it better. The best part, our post-mitigation test revealed a radon level of 0.6 pCi/L. | |I would strongly recommend this company to my friends and neighbors. | | | |Minneapolis, MN pCi/L: |The bid includes the fan |and visual function indicator, as well as a high quality quick check |access screw down cap over the summa basin. And the bid includes any |tweaks necessary to ensure the builder¹s work is done correctly.

Response from ADVANCED RADON SERVICES
Thanks so much for the thoughtful comments. With regard to cost, "activating" a new construction "passive" system always seems to involve more than just sticking a fan and a function monitor on the system. There are almost always builder's mistakes that need to be addressed in order that the system work. These include re-routing pipe, sealing cracks, re-doing sump basin covers and installing a user-friendly access caps for periodic inspection. So the $200 additional charge is pretty good value because it allows us to get the system functioning correctly, eliminate heat / cooling air loss and offer a warranty of radon reduction instead of simply on the fan component (as is the case with most other contractors). Thanks again! Walt n crew

Cheers, thank you. Especially appreciate your comments about fair pricing in light of the relatively high cost (due to the high complexity and labor involved). Sometimes a $2500 price can be a "value" where half that price represents very little. Thanks again!

Description of Work: Walt did a complete inspection of the basement and drew up a remediation plan that included a challenging clean-up and membrane in a crawl space, explaining everything in detail. Thank you! We especially appreciate "shout outs" with these types of pricey mitigations -- that customers appreciate quality work, and recognize that it sometimes costs a little more. This was another complicated one we've had lately -- a system requiring multiple suction points and earthen floor crawl space sealing. These types of mitigations require dotting all the "i"s and crossing all then "t''s. Good outcomes follow: Reductions to very low levels wherein less attentive work would likely have not produced good results. Breathe easy in the basement now with the kids! And wishing you and your all the best. Walt n Crew.

Thank you kindly! Good to see radon levels were reduced to basically ambient (outdoors) levels. Expect nothing less than a good ten years of worry-free operation from the fan. Warranty calls are very rare for us, but if you ever have any concerns, we'll respond immediately. Thanks again, Walt

Thank you. You're very generous with your comments. We do practice being up front with customers. Once in a while we encounter situations where a customer can make a few tweaks to HVAC systems like cold air returns or clogged air intakes on air-to-air exchanges that effectively deal with the radon situation with need of our installation services. Again, thanks much.

Thank you so much for the positive review. As we always do in homes sans drain tile, we conducted advanced diagnostics to ensure system efficacy, and the sub slab soil conditions we kind to us -- resulting in a super low reduction, low energy cost, long fan life and no vibration noise -- the total of which are ingredients for happy customers. Thanks again for entrusting us with the job! Walt, Ben and Sam

Walt and his crew were very nice and on time. Work was completed in the time frame given. No hassles with the payment, even though part of the money was in escrow at the title company (Walt collected directly from the title company. We did not even have to make a phone call). They laid down a tarp and did not make a mess anywhere (or they left it cleaner than when they arrived). We were truly impressed...I did not know service like this still existed today. Walt treated us like family. (Thank you Walt).
Description of Work: During a home purchase we learned there was a radon problem. In an agreement with the sellers we had a radon test. If the results exceeded the 4.0 pCi/L, a certain amount was being put in escrow for a radon mitigation system. Walt performed the test prior to purchase (the results confirmed the radon issue), and within days of closing he completed the work. Walt came over before the work was done to discuss placement of the pipe, vent, etc. and answer any questions. The actual job took one day (Walt brought an electrician and the total price included all work). Walt returned after the job to seal some additional spaces and even spent a significant amount of time explaining minor home repair to my husband (we are first time homeowners). We now are looking to completely remodel the basement, and have water issues. Walt made some suggestions and offered to come back to the house if we have a sump pump installed since it can create additional radon entry points. Amazing!!!
