Crickets. They never responded to either the request sent through Angie's list or phone messages I left on their phone. Completely nonresponsive. Which was very disappointing, because since they are very local, I wanted to be able to do business with them, and because they advertise as specializing in older homes, I wanted to have them look at my house. Maybe they're so busy they don't need more business. Maybe they should say so. Maybe you should quit referring business to them. I didn't want to leave an overall review, because that should represent actual work done, which they never did. But the system forces some review, so, "D".

I received three bids that were all competitive with each other. Walt differentiated himself, however, with his detailed, knowledgeable approach, elegant solution, and follow-up upon completion. His team stood out with their focused, diligent efforts to complete the work the day they started while overcoming some unforeseen challenges. Highly recommended.

Professional in every aspect. The owner, Walt Fitzmaurice, is very knowledgeable and took the time to explain what would be done and when. Top marks for communication, timeliness and quality of work. Easy, no pressure sale. Walt and his crew did an amazing job mitigating radon from our basement! Very respectful working in the house, and there was nothing for me to clean up after they left. All around a good experience. Walt left a measurement device to assess success of the mitigation. Radon level went from 5.8 pCi/L to < 0.3 pCi/L. Two visits (quote, installation) and it was done. Walt come to our house to look at how to route the system. He wasn't in a hurry and explained everything to me in layman's terms. On the day of the install, they arrived promptly, at 09:15 and explained what they were going to do. No electrical work was required. Existing outlet in attic from a 1985 project. The vent pipe runs from a basement store room into the attached garage and to the attic where the fan is located, the roof vent is on the back side of the garage and is not noticeable. You cannot hear any fan noise. The installation was finished by 2:00 p.m. I would highly recommend Advanced Radon Services.

From quote to install everyone was professional and took the time to explain what was happening. Easy, no pressure sale. Two visits (quote, installation) and it was done. And now my kidos can play play play in their playroom without me worrying! Took levels from 3.8 down to 1.4 for about $1,800.

Right on time and very knowledgeable. Our numbers were borderline and Walt made some no cost suggestions to improve our situation without installing a Radon mitigation system. Suggested a retest in a few months and followed that up with a written estimate in case we wanted to move forward with an installation. Appreciated the fact that he explained everything in detail and did not force feed us something we may not need.

Walt and technician arrived promptly. We looked at a couple of install site options. Install took most of the day. After radon test, post mitigation, house is at 2.8 and they are coming back out to add a stronger fan to the system. After that, we will do another test. Walt was very concise about system, very professional. This company was not the least expensive. I used Angie's List to locate three companies for estimates.

We moved into a new build a few weeks ago. The house had a preinstalled passive radon mitigation system and we wanted to convert it to an active system, just to be proactive and err on the side of safety given we're planning to be live in this new home for a long time. After making contact through Angie's List, ABS responded quickly, our options were explained to us at the beginning of the consult (via email which was my preference).... We scheduled the job, they turned up and boom! All done. ABS did a great job, extremely professional at a very reasonable price. I would certainly hire them again. Thanks folks!!

The estimate, discussion, and installation process was transparent and professional. We first called the provider to test and he then directed us to have a preliminary test on our own for integrity reasons. Once we did that and decided to mitigate our mom's house, his team did the work in less than one day, with minimal intrusion and at reasonable cost. The post installation testing is so low as to be nearly undetectable.

Walt Fitzmaurice is very knowledgeable and takes the time to explain the process of radon mitigation. He provided a quote and kept to it, despite having to install a second vent pipe to reduce radon to acceptable levels. The company takes one day to install the system, then leaves measurement devices for 3 days to assess success of the mitigation.

They came out and gave us some advice. They weren't pushy about it, they told me what they had to offer. I think it was them that suggested, I had done a short-term test, they suggested I do a long-term test and so I did. So, yeah I was very satisfied with them. They were very helpful and very knowledgeable, they didn't charge me anything.

It was awesome! Post radon mitigation test results confirmed levels of 1.2 pCi/L basement and 0.5 pCi/L main floor. Walt is highly knowledgeable about radon in homes. And his crew (Ben and Sam) were very skilled and professional and quick. They took care of everything. They hired a licensed electrician to install the outlet for the fan motor. They mounted the fan on rubber couplings so you cannot hear the fan noise. The installation crew were great. There job was very difficult as our basement slab was very thick. And they climbed thru a long attic to install the roof vent. The roof vent was chosen to be black to make it less noticeable. Walt understands the unique radon characteristics of various slab and basement designs, and was therefore able to mitigate the radon in both the basement and the bedroom which is on a concrete slab on grade. The crew carefully explained the operation of the system to us. Walt then did the same after his final post-test inspection. I cannot say enough good things about this team.

The sealant that they use gives off an odor for a period of time. I don't think they could have done any better. I think they were a little higher than others, but I think I got what I paid for. even though it was a little higher than others, it wasn't that much higher and I got what I paid for. It was really only a couple of hundred dollars difference between the high and the low. This stuff is almost textbook prices.

I was very impressed with Walt's knowledge and responsiveness. He ensured that all codes and Department of Health recommendations were followed. While some of the other quotes were a couple hundred dollars cheaper, they did not include a visit to the house to talk with me about our specific situation and the mitigation plan in advance of the work. This was important to me. The system was guaranteed to lower limits below the maximum health standard, which it did. We were also offered free kits in the future to use to verify that the radon levels remain within health standards.

Excellent. Walter was very professional the whole time. He would always respond to my emails within a day and completed the job in one day. Before mitigation, the radon level was 4.8. I just got my test result back and it came back as 0.6. Before him, I had first contracted SWAT Environmental, but the day they were supposed to do the project, they said they needed some special license and did not do the work. I found out this is not true. The next contractor I worked with, Halet Home and Remodeling, came by 3 times and barely did half the job. Everytime he came by, he would never schedule another time to continue the work. He also never returned my calls after taking my deposit. Walter was straightforward. He did not request payment until after the job was complete. I had to leave for work and would not be home until long after his crew left, so I had no choice but to pay him beforehand. He did the job and did not take my money and walk away without doing the work. He assured me multiple times that his crew does good work. If I need radon mitigation in my next house, I will hire this company again.

I still need to complete the follow-up test but I am very happy with the appearance of the mitigation system. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking. Looking back, I wish I would have done this a long time ago because it really was a very easy process and now I have peace of mind that my house isn't putting my family's health at risk.
