When we initially purchased our home in early 2013 we discovered through our housing inspection that the radon levels in our basement were 2.8 pCi/l over the state recommended level of 4.0 pCi/l. Our primary focus when selecting a vendor, given the nature of the job, was quality and results. My wife and I were very impressed with Advanced Radon Services' professionalism and how thorough they were. Their focus was on quality and ensuring that we knew exactly what work they would be performing. The mitigation system ran from our utility room, through the garage and outside the back of our garage roof. The new pipe to remove the gases is hardly noticeable. Following the installation we retested the basement (approx month later) and the results averaged 0.4 pCi/L. We're VERY thrilled with the results. I've also passed along Walt's name/number to my brother and friend who have both hired Advance Radon Systems to install their mitigation systems. Both have also mentioned they are satisfied with the results and have reported lower radon levels.

The team at Advanced Radon Services is superb. They are experts and they show it. The main contact is Walt Fitzmaurice who comes out to your home and assesses the situation. They will not do the work if it is not needed. If a system is appropriate, then Walt takes great care to walk you through all the options. We had an interesting pipe routing problem and Walt and the installation team figured it all out. The installation team has done thousands of installations across the Twin Cities. They showed up right on time, did the work as planned and clean-up was immaculate. I highly recommend Advanced Radon Services. I know I will not need to use them again, but i will recommend them to anyone who needs this mitigation service.

Walt and his team were wonderful! Walt and his team really helped us out. The company that origianlly installed our radon system refused to come out and look at the radon system after we had a Sump Jet installed. The original company said that the sump pump area could not be resealed. Walt sent Mike out to look at the issue and Mike was able to reseal it so that the radon system was working properly again. We really appreciated Mike's ability to problem solve and think outside the box. I would strongly recommend Advanced Radon.

This project was of superior quality from beginning to post-mitigation testing that demonstrated that the system was working as intended. The scope of the work included: an initial evaluation of the sub slab situation that would make the mitigation a success; evaluation of the layout of the system for the existing house basement floor plan; basement sub slab depressurization testing; installation of the system including sealing the crawl space; routing of the system piping; installation of the attic fan and exhaust in roof flashing and stack; crawl space sealing and depressurization; and post-mitigation sampling which demonstrated that the system worked as designed. This work requires special training to meet requirements under ASTM 2121 and EPA radon mitigation protocols. The work also requires that the installer have a comprehensive understanding of how these requirements are to be met by the installation of the system and can explain the same to the customer. The company met these requirements as demonstrated by the results. The representative answered all of our questions and thoroughly explained the work as described in the contract. The work was completed by a crew that worked quietly and efficiently to get the work done in one day, including all cleanup.

Everything went well. I had Walt come to give an estimation. He went through what the system would look like, where they would drill into the foundation, where they would vent it through the garage and up through the attic. He also subcontracted an electrician to install an outlet in the attic for the fan. They came right at 9am, and started the work. They installed the entire system and went through what they did and how it works. They did a great job in cleaning up as well. Thanks!

Walt and his team were fantastic. They were punctual, professional and thorough. In addition, they treated our family and home with the utmost respect while they were installing the mitigation system. All said and done, they brought our radon level from a 5.3 to a 0.8. Could not be more pleased with how things went. Would highly recommend. Walt is really good at what he does and it shows.

This was one of the best "hires" we've done for a home improvement project. Walt Fitzmaurice was terrific through the whole mitigation process. And the results were even better than we had hoped for. He's busy; we waited about a month once we decided to go with Walt. But if you need radon work done, it's definitely worth the wait. We did a home radon test and had levels above the EPA safe limits. We called Walt and arranged a time for him to come to see our home and suggest a course of action. He was right on time---as he was for all parts of the process. He is extremely knowledgeable and very thorough in explaining the science of radon. Our basement has a crawl space in one area and a traditional cement floor in the main part. Walt gave us a very detailed proposal explaining exactly what he planned to do to address both areas. And he conducted several field tests in the basement to confirm that his plan would work. Walt and his team were totally professional on installation day. They kept us informed about their work, and they cleaned up all messes completely. They did a great job of making the PCV pipe as inconspicuous as possible and finished work on schedule. We conducted follow up tests to see if the work was successful. Yes! better than we had hoped for!

Walt is extremely customer focused and willing to take all the time necessary to answer your questions and make the best recommendation for you. After initially inspecting our home he explained what he could do. We were also interested in installing an air exchanger. He let us know that if the exchanger was installed correctly it might also solve our radon issue since the test showed it was just over the recommended limit. So rather than push his own service, he actually suggested another option. In the end, the companies we approached about an air exchange system did not follow through and didn't have expertise on how to set up a system which would address the radon issues. We contacted Walt and he had the work done promptly. Walt has outstanding followup and is very responsive. Recently we noticed a small issue with the seal for the radon vent on our roof. I left a message on Sunday and he had a worker on our roof and fixed the problem by Monday afternoon. I would recommend Walt to anyone. He is very knowledgeable, honest, and focused on his customers. As far as contractors go, he is one of the best in all respects.

They arrived on time, took time to answer remaining questions, consulted with us for all decisions that needed to be made as part of the install. They finished on time, cleaned up very well and we will no longer glow in the dark.

I got estimates from two contractors. By far, Advanced Radon Services (Walt) did a better job of explaining the what was required, how they would do it and why. Walt called the day before the project to verify that I was ready. On the day of the project his installer arrived a few minutes early and started getting setup. Walt arrived and we walked through the project and discussed everything that they would be doing. Walt made sure that I understood everything they would be doing and why. The installer completed the project in about 6 hours which was what they predicted. When he completed the project we did a walk through and everything was done that we talked about. The installer left my house cleaner than when he arrived. All of the work was professionally completed. I will recommend Advanced Radon Services to anyone requiring Radon remediation services.

Walt did a great job giving an assessment of our home and explaining how Radon levels could be reduced and took extra time to try to find the least intrusive place to install it. Outstanding. Walt Fitzmaurice was extremely knowledgeable, professional, courteous and went out of his way to explain any and all answers. The job was done with the utmost care and professionalism. They worked with me to make adjustments to the plan according to my specifications. The only slight negative was that the price was a little higher than some competitors but it was worth every additional penny. I don't regret paying a slight premium for the level of quality, expertise and service that they provided. A++++

Very prompt, friendly, and courteous. Walt, the owner, understood all technical aspects of his work. I read the technical standards governing this field, to quiz his knowledge. He was easily able to answer all questions. His mitigation methods meets the Standards. The radon mitigation system works fine. It was 14 piC/L before. It is now less than 0.5 piC/L. I measured with a purchased device to confirm his measurements. His measurements agreed perfectly with mine.

Walter was great to work with. Very responsive to questions and concerns we had. He worked with us as we were closing on our home and we set up a date to have the system installed. Walter was very good at explaining how radon enters the home and was very informative- never pushy. He explained the system he thought would work best for our situation and gave us a reasonable estimate. Instal went very smoothly. They found a crack in the sump pump drainage pipe and fixed it without us even asking. The subsequent radon tests showed our radon dropped from over 9 pCi/L down to .9 pCi/L- well below the risk level. So Walter's system definitely did the job.

Walt was extremely professional when he came to bid the job. He was thorough and took the time to answer all my questions. He was very conscious of not only mitigating the radon, but also visual appearance of the piping and helped us create a venting system that would be as unobtrusive as possible. The crew showed up promptly as promised and did a fantastic job. They cleaned up the area completely, were very considerate of our home and flooring, and performed their work with extreme care and attention to detail. The crew explained what they had done at the end of the job and they took the time to show me all the work that had been done and go over all the features and warranties. I would definitely recommend this company and wish every contractor experience could go as well as this one!

Advanced Radon Services showed up on-time and were extremely professional throughout their stay. The work looks EXTREMELY clean and for somebody like me, a perfectionist, you couldn't have asked for a better company for this job. Advanced Radon Services did everything they could do to minimize the visibility of any piping and you could simply tell that this was not a rush job. I couldn't have been happier with the results and my brother is using Advanced Radon Services for his radon mitigation as well. I would strongly recommend Walt to any of my closest friends. I have not performed my post measurement test however I'm 100% confident that Advanced Radon Services will deliver on their estimate of 2.0 pCi/L or lower. Again, a job well done!
Description of Work: Advanced Radon Services was hired to install a radon mitigation system in my home. During Walt's visit, he educated me on radon and the available radon mitigation options (since I already knew that I was over the limit at 6.8 pCi/L as I had hired another company who performs these types of tests). After evaluating the home, he walked me through his recommendation and what would be included in the quote. His plan was to run a pipe from underneath the concrete (a tile piping already running around the house) through the garage out the roof of my garage. A detailed quote was provided promptly in 1-2 business days.

This company was always really professional. Walt took the time to really explain all the factors necessary to pick the right system that was going to work. He always called before coming and was very punctual. They did excellent work and cleaned up after themselves. They even let my kids watch them work and were very nice to them. When I wrote the check incorrectly, they sent it back to me with a self-addressed stamped envelope, even though the mistake was mine. They are an upright and wonderful company that I would highly recommend to anyone.

The owner and a crew of two were here for about 1-1/2 hours running their tests. In addition to patching the holes they drilled, they also patched another old 4" x 4" hole in my basement floor. They charged me nothing for the testing or fixing the extra hole, though I was willing to pay something for their time and effort. The owner did not use any high pressure sales pitch, but gave me lots of information about radon and their mitigation process and let me decide for myself. He came across as being trustworthy. He provided me with information about other means of reducing the radon levels in my house.
Description of Work: While getting an estimate the owner told me that the first thing they do is to test the airflow under my basement floor to see if their type of radon mitigation system would work at my location. Their system sucks out the air from under the basement floor, preventing radon from entering the basement. On the install day they found that the soil under the basement had limited airflow ability and that their system wouldn't work. They had drilled a few small test holes in the floor and patched them and cleaned up afterwards. Thus, we did not proceed with the actual installation of the system but only did the test phase.

Communication was great from the start with scheduling the estimate and the actual work. Walt called to confirm and let us know he was on his way. The estimate was conveniently scheduled on a Saturday. Walt took a lot of time to explain the process to help us make a decision to go forward with the work. The crew arrived on time to complete the work. What was really appreciated is the fact that Walt (the Salesman) took the time to make sure the install crew understood our expectations and stayed on site through the pressure field extension testing process and coming up with the best route for the PVC. The crew did an excellent job with the installation. They cleaned everything up afterwards and took time to explain the completed work. Best of all it lowered our Radon levels well below the acceptable maximum level. Would highly recommend Walt and his crew to others in the future!

Walt showed up on time to provide a bid for a radon mitigation system... he walked me through the radon mitigation system and how it works, expectations and possible alternatives. The first option discussed involved installing an interior unit in the upper level of our 1 1/2 story home, but since the entire upper level is sealed with insulating foam the alternative was to install an exterior unit. Walt explained the fan unit needs direct access to an outside vent in an attic area in case the unit were to fail or leak in the future. We walked through the basement area and he had a couple ideas for where the suction point(s) would be, but explained a test on installation day would determine one or two suction points and what it would like look in the basement area... I was concerned about large amounts of pipe taking up space. On installation day Walt and the installation crew arrived promptly, ran the suction test and determined two suction points were necessary. The installed system is much less intrusive than I initially thought it would be and the outside fan unit runs quiet and is hardly noticeable. The crew was polite and they cleaned everything afterward, could hardly tell they were there. I'm completely happy with the results. Radon readings have gone from 6-8 to less than 1 pcl.

These guys were very prompt and professional. They had to spend a lot of time in the basement sealing up cracks in our foundation that were the result of water treatment we had done years ago (and probably part of our radon problem). We were at about 7.5 picocuries before the treatment and with the follow up test were at about 2.5. I have to do another test now in the winter, but they offered to come in and put in a larger fan if the radon levels don't drop. All in all, very friendly and responsive.

Walt is fabulous (owner of Advanced Radon Services)! It is hard to find service people who are professional, articulate, polite, and respectful of the homes they work in. Walt has done a careful job hiring his employees (kudos to his workers!) and in the case of electrical, hiring a sub. We had a radon level of 7.1 in a basement level bedroom. He carefully assessed our situation and determined that we needed to seal up our 2 sump pump basins and put in a double suction point SSD system. The suction points are in our unfinished laundry area. They broke through the floor below the foundation, installed a PVC pipe (in each area) which runs up along the wall. The two pipes join together at ceiling level, and have been routed up through a closet in the main level and then through the attic out to the roof. The shelves in the closet needed to be cut to accommodate the pipe..... it was carefully and neatly done. I was very thankful not to have pipes exiting on the side of our home. Our fan is placed almost at the roof level, so we don't hear noise from it. His competitors planned to route pipes out the side of the house which would have looked bad as well as taken away the peace and quiet from our patio area. Walt is an esthete and obviously takes care in making sure the home isn't "dirtied up" (tarps and vacuums well used) and that the end result is unobtrusive and neat looking! More importantly, his goal is to bring radon levels down below a 1. I would highly recommend him to anyone I know!
Description of Work: We had a 2 suction point sub slab depressurization system put in after finding radon levels at 7.1 in our home. Now our levels are down to .7 and 1.0
