CHAMPION GARAGE DOORS

It went good. They came out on July 14, 2014 to evaluate the situation as my new garage door (which I accidentally backed into) would not always open. We did not know if it was because I backed into the door and may have bent some rails or if my garage door opener (installed in 2002) was just getting old. We had to co-ordinate a time when either I or my roommate would be home so he could install the opener. They gave us a specific time frame that agreed with my roommates schedule, but it seemed like they had not arrived close to the end of the time frame so I called the company and she said she would call the technician and he would call my roommate when he was on his way. He did arrive within the timeframe and installed the new door opener and took the old one away with him. He also set up the remotes and installed a new outdoor key pad with a code that we know and showed my roommate how to reset the code on the key pad.

He did all of the above. He was on time, polite and efficient.

The deal stated that the company would contact me by a specific date and they did not. When Angie's list sent me an email asking if I had been contacted, I stated I had not been contacted. They must have reached out to the company directly because I received a response in my account inbox stating that I needed to call them to set up an appointment. Frustrating. The front desk was very nice and worked around my schedule to get someone out to my home. I had to reschedule a couple times and I appreciated her flexibility. When it came time for the service, the technician came out and performed the service and provided a recommendation that we could probably upgrade to new rollers. Our main issue was that the light was not working and we wanted to get an assessment as to what was wrong with the light. He replaced the light with another bulb (which we had already done) and the light still does not work and we still don't have any assessment as to what is wrong with the light. He did want to stay and install new rollers and was prepared to do that service. I wasn't overly thrilled with the price for services overall, but what really made me upset was the sticker I discovered placed over the existing garage door information for the company that installed the system when our house was built. I tried to remove their sticker and it tore off the underlying information. I never gave Champion permission to place this sticker on my garage wall and I most certainly would not have allowed them to put it OVER the existing information. That was very presumptuous on their part. They could have left the sticker with me or asked if I would like it put on the wall and where I would like it placed. This was not a courteous or professional action and a poor reflection of the company.

Only issue was with scheduling. The scheduler promised to call back about bringing in the date to do the job, but never did. She was a bit mixed up on the job when I called back, but eventually we were able to set a time/date which I was satisfied with. Other than that, I was pleased. The day of the job, I got a call from Mike confirming a time that he would arrive. Work was done quickly. He gave some advice on door maintenance and operation. I was happy with the service and the door works great again. Ratings would have been all A if I didn't have the confusion with the scheduling. Bottom line: I would recommend them and would use them again.

It cost me a couple of hundred dollars. They found some problems with things that needed replacing. I can't tell if it needed replacing or not so I did the tuneup but it ended up costing me a couple hundred dollars more than that. It was just hard to say. I don't know if I would use them again.

It was good experience. When they arrived the evaluated my garage door and came to the conclusion that it needed more done to it than the refurbishment deal covers. They also noted that it would make more sense to buy a new door than to sink a bunch of money into refurbishing it. I appreciated their guidance and plan on buying new door through them later this year after I've had my garage sheet rocked.

My husband liked the technician a lot. My husband felt that he was honest and not pushy. He had to come back out to finish the job because he was missing a part for one of the repairs. Their repairs held up well!

The torsion spring on my garage door broke. They were able to come out a couple days after I called and fixed the door for the price quoted. They were easy to work with and took care of everything without me being onsite. They recommended a few other updates based on wear and tear of the door, but I didn't move forward with that during this visit due to cost.

I did have work done by Champion. I bought three of the garage door tune-ups from an Angie’s List coupon. The technician arrived on time and as scheduled. He did the tune up and noticed a few other problems that needed to be addressed. As he was already there and had the appropriate parts with him, he didn’t charge me anything for a trip charge or mileage. He installed the parts for a very fair price and everything is in good working order now. I would definitely give them an A rating and would definitely use them again in the future. In fact, I have already recommended them to a friend who needed service.

Purchased the $39 tuneup deal through Angie's List and thought I would only be able to do one of my 2 doors. Champion honored the same price for the other door as well. Rob from Champion came out to do the tuneups and noticed a couple other items that needed attention. Prices seemed very fair, so I had him replace bearings on one of the garage doors and the rollers on the other. He also answered a number of questions for me. Very nice guy and great service. Would use them again.

I joined Angie's list because I was overwhelmed by Google - how do you find the right place to use? I called 2 places on the list. The first place, Champion Garage Door, I left a message. The second place, Metro Garage Door, I was able to speak to Amy. She provided me the quote for emergency and business hours appointment. I scheduled my appointment with Metro. Then Champion Garage Door (I think her name was Mindy?) called me back. She was very helpful and also provided the quote for emergency and business hours appointment. She was able to get me a technician within 30 minutes to my house. I contacted Metro and cancelled my appointment with them. Champion was more then half the price for an emergency call. The tech called me to let me know he was on his way to my house, and gave me an estimated time of arrival. He was very nice and able to make the garage door functional. He also gave us a quote for a new door and explained the costs, process to install, etc. I wanted to give the repair man a hug! I think he was there a total of 1 1/2 hours at the very most.

My experience was wonderful. They were super to work with. He was knowledgeable and curteous. He was very fast on the job.

We are not using this service but we are hiring them to replace two garage door openers.

Champion saved the day for us! We had been dealing with another company to fix our garage door opener, which broke during a cold snap in January. The other company sent representatives 3 different times after we complained about their inadequate repair. They overcharged us, then told us there would be more charges, then told us our door could not be repaired. We became frustrated with them, and called Champion, whom we found on Angie's List. They sent a repairman that day, who fixed our door, charged us minimally for the repair, and was professional through and through.

Champion was very prompt in returning my calls, scheduling the service and letting me know when they would arrive. My garage doors have never worked better. I would highly recommend Champion Garage Door. Excellent to work with.

As I recall, they were able come out quickly. The technician completed the tune-up and left no mess behind. Everything worked out fine.

Also, he pointed out some issues from when it was installed years ago that contribute to the problem. This information will be useful when we replace the door in the future.

When they came out to perform this service, they said that I could not use the deal. I had to purchase an entire new door. They did a good job installing the door, I just had to have this deal refunded.

They were great! I had purchased the tune up however a few days later, the coil springs broke on one side of my garage door. They came out the next morning. He was very professional and helpful. Told me what I should look for going ahead. Highly recommend.

Champion was great to work with. They showed up on 7/3 to assess the work that needed to be completed on the garage door of our new home and then were willing to come out on 7/5, taking time out of their holiday weekend, to make the repairs. They did a great job explaining to me the work that needed to be done and why, and were true to their estimate. I'll definitely call them again in the future if needed.

I THOUGHT THE EXTRA PARTS ON OPENER WAS A LITTLE SPENDY, BUT THE INSPECTION AND NEW SEAL FOR $99 WAS OK

That went fine. There was some extra too over the Big Deal purchase. It was more than just an adjustment. It was actually put in wrong, back in 2003. So, he is actually redoing part of the garage door as opposed to adjusting it. My husband talked to him about it. I think he is very reliable. He came exactly when he said he was going to come, and it didn’t take very long.

I initially looked for garage door service companies on Angie's List to solve an issue with my main garage door; when I would open the door it would lurch open and jerk to a stop, then pushing the opener again the door would close and open fairly smoothly. Finding an offer on Angie's, I contacted Champion and set up an appointment. Mike came out as scheduled on a day when it was pouring rain outside. He did a good job tuning both garage doors, and then discussed some things I could do to solve the squeaking and the lurching issue. I had him replace my rollers with new vinyl rollers, and the garage door seemed to be in great shape after he left. But within a day the issue of the lurching door returned. I called Mike back at the number he called me from initially, but after a couple of days of no returned call, I contacted Champion again to explain that the issue was not resolved. Late that afternoon, another tech left me a voicemail. I called him back the next day, and explained to him what was happening. He had someone in the area that morning who stopped by promptly and diagnosed the issue. When the garage door was painted prior to me purchasing the home, the door had been closed before the paint was dry. There was paint on the garage door seal all the way around the door, and this was causing the door to stick and lurch when opened. The tech suggested removing the paint to solve the issue. I bought some solvent and removed the paint residue, which took longer that I hoped, but it does indeed seem to have solved the problem. Champion did a good job tuning and quieting my garage door; the only thing I would have liked to have gone differently would have been for the initial tech to have explained the paint issue so that I would have been able to solve it the first time, without having to have a second visit. Overall, I'm happy with the job Champion did and would use them again in the future.

I called them Saturday morning the day after Independence Day and they were out same day to replace the springs.
