Let them describe their whole process up front, or be sure to ask for details, so you are not chasing 2 workers throughout your house. If it concerns you, which it does me, ask them to remove their shoes.
Description of Work: $99 duct cleaning deal, wasn't super impressed. Felt like workers were kind of all over and it was stressful trying to move the pets around. Left a mess at one vent that was admittedly totally clogged and messy (my bad) but for them to just replace the vent and not reference the mess felt dismissive. They used what looked like an air compressor down each vent (something i could do on my own) along with a vacuum at the trunk (which required cutting a hole in my trunk line that they then taped over), the whole process looked like something i could do on my own.

John and his assistant arrived punctually according to his estimated arrival time. The stackable washer/dryer unit was very out of balance and no matter how much I tried to equalize the washer load no matter how large the load was the entire unit shook during the spin cycle. The unit was in a small closet, but John and his helper patiently found a way to check the mechanics of the washer and found the shaft was quite severely bent and the transmission also had to be replaced. The estimate to repair the washer was nearly half the price of a new unit and since the unit was about 12 years old I opted to get a new washer/dryer. They put the washer/dryer back carefully so that I could move around it easily and cleaned up after themselves. I appreciated both their considerable patience with the "tight" working conditions and their honesty in discussing the needed repairs. They left me a neatly printed estimate of cost to repair, in case I should decide to repair the existing unit.
Description of Work: Inspected my stackable washer and dryer as per Angie's List Big Deal Offer. Found that the orbital transmission and shaft needed to be replaced.

Fantastic service!!! Do yourself a favor and hire John.
Description of Work: I was scammed by a previous duct cleaning company. My CC company required a letter to be written by a new duct cleaning vendor to authenticate my claim. John came in, took pictures, and wrote a detailed letter explaining the condition of the ducts, as he found them. He then went on to clean them so well that the whole house smelled better and the AC flow was stronger.

It was a Big Deal that I purchased. It was a man and woman that split up. They cut a couple of holes about the size of my fist in the duct and put in some hose and vacuumed. I talked to people later and found out that there is no way to clean the ducts like that. You have to open it up and have a lot more suction. It takes like 4 hours so it was a rip off. For the time they put in and the number of holes they put in, they didn't do it. They were here less than 2 hours and they were gone. I doubt they really did anything. The diameter of the hoses they used was too small. I think they faked it. What they did was nowhere near what other companies did for other people that I have talked to that had it done. The price was very attractive but sometimes you get what you pay for. They were friendly but they ripped me off. They were responsive.

Response from Andersons Mechanical Service LLC
I am sorry this customer has taken 6/7 months to comment on his experience with us. We do guarantee our work 30 thirty days after leaving the home. I would like to explain how the duct system starts and how the process is done. First we bring in a 6 inch round vac hose that is 100 feet in length. This is either plugged into a 6 inch opening we make or a heat duct that is already there off the trunk line. The vac is flex hose so we can manipulate it to fit in the opening made or provided. We try to make the least amount of openings due to many home owners not understanding they need to be made to do the cleaning correctly. We then loosen all dust from heat vents and returns with a commercial air compressor and force 200 pounds of pressure forcing it all to the main trunk line. We then use the holes that are fist size to insert the air snake to force all debris to the commercial vacuum which then goes to the vac bag outside and off the back of the van. The dust that collects in the lines are very light in weight and easy for us to remove. We do a two step cleaning process. It is not about just the vacuuming. It is about the whole process. We do provide a rotto brush method for homes that have smoking or candle burning, due to the residue that is left behind and holds the dust to the trunk line. You had only purchased the standard cleaning so that is what we did. We did not try to up sale you or rip you off. We start the cleaning at the vents and we end the cleaning at the trunk line. Talking to people later about the job that was completed is obsolete. They could of had a different process or different equipment. We are the owners and we do the work and the only time we have someone make this type of report is because they do not understand the duct system or the process. We do try to explain things the best we can before leaving the property and we do give ample opportunity for our customers to ask questions before leaving each home. We also give the best advice we can for the furnace system and which would be the best efficient way to keep it clean and less cost effective. I was not able to find this customer in our records for the date stated work was completed????

They were both very nice and professional. They need to do a more complete job.
Description of Work: Inspection of washing machine. Inspection of dryer and vent. I was very disappointed with work on washing machine as they didn't even clean the inside lid top edges and now the bleach and powder cups seem to hold water after done. When they left, I was really surprised they didn't even attempt to clean it up. Only threw some cleaner in and left me a couple extras which was nice. Price way too high for service and time spent.

This is what the coupon included. 15-point maintenance check-up for both washer & dryer which includes inspecting all connections, operations, balance and more, diagnosing any issues while insuring your laundry machines are operating efficiently and correctly. No issues were found at the time of the appointment. - Thorough clean out of your dryer vent, which will drastically increase the efficiency of your dryer and greatly reduce the risk of fire. Dryer vent and dryer were cleaned of all dryer lint. - Clean and sanitize your washing machine. Over time bacteria, mold and other nastiness builds up (inside) your washing DRUM and DRAIN LINE causing very unpleasant odors, leaving your clean clothes not quite as fresh as they should be. We will clean the inner parts with a cleaning conditioning agent called Afresh. This is especially common on front loading washers and it is recommended that all washers be cleaned and disinfected every month. Start your spring cleaning now by refreshing & revitalizing your laundry room with this special offer! We do not clean the lid or the outer parts of the wash machine. This we consider to be normal everyday cleaning.

Initial contact with company was fine. Andersens did not call to confirm appointment a day or two before the service date, which is OK for us but not typical of other vendors we've used. Although they did call 1/2 hour before arrival as promised. Owner told us they would remove all vent covers and reinstall as part of the service. They did NOT do that. We were disappointed that they did not do exactly what they said they would regarding the vent removal. The night before the appointment I checked their profile on Angie's and discovered that was a common complaint so I contemplated cancelling but figured it was too late from a fairness point of view. Their response to the complaints was that the technique they used did not require vent removal. We decided to call the morning of the appointment to reaffirm the procedure described when we booked the service- they were not open yet so we left a message. Someone got the message because they called the alternate number we left during the message to notify us when in route but never addressed the vent removal question I had asked for confirmation on- not known to my wife- which put undo pressure on my wife to pay attention to the technique used. She did not feel comfortable challenging the technique once they started work without removing the vents. They showed up on time as scheduled. Took 40 minutes for our 2200 square foot house and left. Minimal communication occurred after initial meet and greet. We wondered if our vents were really dirty, a little dirty, full of pet hair or what. Price was good but forgot to reinstall the furnace blower plenum cover. Good thing we checked the the work. Bottom Line: We got what we paid for $99.00. Will pay closer attention and check the list for customer satisfaction ratings before we buy Big Deals on Angies List in the future. They made no attempt to up sell us into more services.

Pleasant conversation by phone led to the service call. The two men were friendly and got right after the work. They answered the few questions I had. My only beef is that after they left I found dust and the like below some ceiling vents. I feel like it's AAA's job to clean up that sort of thing or at least alert me to it. Otherwise, from what we can tell, they did a solid job.

The two men arrived promptly on time on the appointed day (my date is approximate because I've forgotten the exact day they came). They appeared ready to get to work. One man connected their 'vacuum' to the furnace while the other used a very small hose and nozzle to blow air into the vent (through the duct work and into their vacuum/collection unit). What surprised me is that no attempt was made to remove grates or to reach in to the duct work. There was no visual of the duct work at all. Also, the "sanitizing" was only a small, hand held, spray bottle of something they sprayed through the grate into the duct work. I seriously doubt it sprayed far enough to do any real "sanitizing". One bedroom had a closed door and so instead of asking if they should do that room they opted to neither ask nor enter. Had I not asked them if they had done that room they would have left without doing it. Since I didn't follow them throughout the I'm not even certain they blew-down and "sanitized" all the duct work. Overall despite this service being $99, it was very mediocre. I will not recommend this service or company. Sorry.

Summary: Poor quality of work. Poor professionalism in going to the wrong house and then telling me rudely that I was not at home. (They said my "dog was barking his head off", when they rang the bell -- I don't have a dog) Took two trips to try to fix a fridge issue and could not fix it. Third time, they went to a wrong house and accused me of not being at home. Had to call another company to fix the issue. The second company who fixed the issue said that the original repair (the new electronic board) had not been installed correctly (a wire had to be severed and was not). Details: 1) The refrigerator freezer was not working. Called AAA-Anderson, they scheduled a time, and came as planned. I was told that the electronic board behind the fridge was not working as needed and had to be replaced. So it was, and this visit + parts cost me $301.81, which was fine. I was told to wait 24 hours for it to cool down. 2) After a couple of days, we noticed that things had still not cooled down. As a result we had to throw out groceries (milk, frozen stuff etc) that had gone bad. I called them again. They scheduled a time. I specifically told them that the right hand side (of the GE side by side fridge) which holds the regular food stuff (not frozen) was not cooling either. This time they told me that they always suspected the fan in the freezer was an issue. So they replaced the fan. This time they did not charge me anything, which I really appreciated. (They said the part cost $85). I asked if it would cool the right hand side down, and i was told yes. Wait for 24 hours. 3) Now the freezer was working well. But the right side was still not cooling enough. I waited 2-3 days for it to cool down but to no avail. Another round of food got spoiled. So I called them again. This time they we scheduled to arrive on Friday between 12.30pm and 2.30pm. However, I was at home the whole day and no one came. At 2.45pm and onwards, I called their office a number of times, but no one answered. Neither did they answer on Sat morning. I finally had to get another repair company to come in, since more food was getting spoiled. The new company looked at the electronic board that was installed by AAA-Anderson, and told me that for the GE model that I use, a particular wire had to be severed. After they did that, both sides of the fridge started working correctly. So it was poor quality work the first time round from AAA-Anderson that led to this repeated issue. 4) They called my landlord and said that they had dropped by at 1pm on Friday and that there was no one in the house. This is not true. I was at home the whole time (and anxiously waiting for them, since I wanted to issue fixed so urgently) They again called me on Monday, and the person asked me rudely why i was not at home. I told them that they did not come at all. Then they said that the "Dog was barking its head off, when they rang the bell". I told them, I don't have a dog -- my neighbor (who lives on house down) has one. So they went to the wrong house! Overall, I think that these guys wasted a lot of my time and the quality of work they did was not good. I especially don't like the idea of being told that I was not at home when I was -- they should have at least called, if no one answered the wrong door that they went to. I will not hire them again.

It started off rocky; I had requested immediate call back and instead it took hours for a return call. Apparently they are unable to perform to the level of commitment they agreed to. They weren't able to get me in for over a week, so I chose a Friday afternoon. Big mistake. They got stuck in traffic between jobs. When they arrived, the workers were pleasant and went through the house room by room to clean all the vents. They moved the dryer to clean those vents, and somehow couldn't put everything back where it started. The biggest issue was once they left and I turned the fan back on. There was a whistling sound that wouldn't stop coming from the furnace. I ended up having to call for service on my furnace, only to be told that they didn't put the front back on the furnace properly after cleaning it. It took all of 3 minutes to fix, but cost me almost a hundred dollars. For me, this was not a good experience, and I will not use this company again. Instead, I will go through the company that installed my furnace in the first place.

The initial phone call could NOT have been more pleasant. These folks really want your business and will work with any request you have. They are punctual, professional and knowledgeable. The house was efficiently finished with the dryer vent being an after thought. I would have never imagined so much lint could escape the filter. The amount of lint that blew out the roof vent was incredible. It was a very satisfying experience from start to finish.
Description of Work: All air ducts and return airs were blown/sucked into a large truck mounted container. A very lightly scented air sanitizer was sprayed into the ducts and circulated with air. The dryer vent was an after thought and well worth the additional $40.

The workers arrived and asked permission to run the hoses through the garage. They backed their truck up to the garage and then started up a separate motor that powers their powerful vacuum (filling the garage with the exhaust fumes from the engine). They hooked the vacuum to the duct by the furnace and then went to work cleaning each individual vent. I assumed that they were going to use a rotary snake that would go through each duct, but instead they simply sprayed compressed air into each vent, reaching down only 18" to 24". The workers were pleasant, but after observing their cleaning method, I really don't feel at all confident that our air ducts are clean because the method has no chance of working. Here's why: No matter how powerful their vacuum is, it's power is divided by the number of open vents in the house. In our house there are at least 12 vents, so when they were cleaning a particular vent by shooting compressed air into it, there was very little chance the dust they dislodged with their high pressure wand would actually be drawn into their vacuum cleaner, since that particular vent is only getting 1/12th of the vacuum's power. (Here's another way to think of it. Suppose you are trying to drink soda through a straw. Now suppose there is a hole in the straw. Chances are that you'll probably give up and find a better straw before trying again. Now imagine how successful you'd be if there were 11 other holes besides the one at the other end of the straw.) The only way their method could work is if they concentrated the power of the vacuum by placing simple cover over all the vents in the house and then remove the cover from one vent at a time for cleaning, and being sure to replace that cover before proceeding to the next vent. Then the power of the vacuum would be discernably more effective since they would be trying to force, say 5,000 cubic feet of air per minute through each vent, one at a time. This would improve the method, but there is still the issue of the length of the high pressure wand which only goes a couple of feet into the duct. So I learned my lesson about researching the method before I hire. Perhaps they can use the suggestion to improve their method for cleaning air ducts.

Response from Andersons Mechanical Service LLC
In response to this comment we would first like to apologize to you that you did not have the experience that you expected. We do run commercial gas powered equipment to complete the cleaning. This does let off exhaust. If the garage filled with carbon monoxide it would be no more that warming up vehicle in garage, that can be aired quickly by leaving the door open for 30mins or so after cleaning. We do offer a rotto brush cleaning for an extra charge and I believe this was offered and refused. So we did proceed with the cleaning process. Our vacuum is plugged into the trunk line (which we can feel/hear vac at each vent in the home). Then causing negative pressure through the system, we use and air tool/wand that forces 210 pounds of pressure through the system to force all the dust to the main trunk line, not to the vacuum. After doing this with each individual vent we then clean the trunk line with an air snake that runs the distance of the line. This forces all the dust in a reverse fashion to then bring it to the vacuum. We do the cleaning from top to force to trunk line and from under to force trunk line debris dust that we just forced there from above to vacuum. We have the vacuum plugged in during to cleaning to ensure that is the direction the dust with go to. The dust that builds in the system is very light weight and easy to remove from the system with our commercial equipment. Our air pressure has no problem making the short distance from the heat duct to the trunk line. Unless smoking, candle burning, or incense burning is currently happening in home which causes a sticky residue that will hold the dust. The soda can theory would be true if we were only cleaning each run without cleaning the trunk line also. If your furnace fan can force debris through home our commercial vac and air pressure will surely remove dust from system. Even if we were to close each vent in the home the duct work and the individual runs are not air tight at any connection or seem. This is a two part cleaning. Our objective is not for the dust to immediately go to the vacuum. Again we apologize for any misunderstanding with our cleaning process.. We have been using this method with commercial equipment for 25 years and we have over a 1500 satisfied customers. Thank you, Kim

They were able to come out when we needed. The date of the cleaning they were running a little late but called to notify us. There were 2 people total, they were very thorough and fast.

They called after I requested the service online. They were prompt and called when they were on their way and came when they said they were going to be there. They were pleasant and fast and did a good job.
