They left when finished and gave no suggestion for watering as seed germinated. I looked on web for watering preferences. All did not go well as more than half of seed did not germinate and I was left with large patches of yard with no grass. They agreed to return in the Spring of 2014, and in May of 2014 they returned and applied topsoil to bare spots and hydo seeded. However, before they were more than half way into the re-seeding it was raining and they finished in the rain. That rain soon became a torrential storm which washed most of the new seed and topsoil into the street. Since then I have been given assurance that they would come back to do the job again when optimal seeding season arrived in late August or September. I have been contacted once and told they would be coming to re-seed. I asked about topsoil and was told that would have to be approved by someone else. Since then my only form of contact has been in the phone calls I have initiated. I have phoned many times to see when they will be doing the job. ALTHOUGH THEY TAKE MY NUMBERS EVERY TIME I CALL, THEY HAVE NOT RETURNED ONE OF MY CALLS!

I have less grass now than before they stripped the lawn last year, and leaves are beginning to fall.

The first time they plowed was $75, the next time was $150, so they prefer to have a yearly contract. This balances the risk because if you don't get a lot of snow, and you have paid for this contract, you have overpaid. Last year we didn't plow at all, and this year we had to plow 6 times, so there is a risk issue, you are taking a gamble. You prepay for whatever snow removal you need. The way Margolis Nursery operates, is that they have a crew with highly maintained equipment, they hire people and pay them very well, and they are incredibly reliable. When there is an inch of snow on the ground, the contract says they have to plow within 12 hours, so they dispatch all these trucks, and they go and plow. My needs are very different because I am a senior citizen and I don't have to get out, and I don't have to have the snow cleared within 12 hours. We live in a rural area, and my driveway is well over half a mile, so there is a substantial amount of plowing to be done, although because it is a straight shot, they can move very quickly if they know what they are doing. It generally takes 20-30 minutes to plow. If I pay somebody $100 an hour for somebody to do that, they are making $200 in 2 hours. They are in the business of having a yearly contract, and so it is very expensive to do it one time. If I was going to have my road plowed on a one time basis, they are the most expensive people to use. They base their price on the quantity of snow that there is.They are wonderful. I don't need a top grader snow plower, I need someone to come in a day or so and do it. They offer first rate service for commercial rate service. They are very professional.

Overall, I was exceptionally pleased with the service. Removal was sometimes done in the middle of the night, which was fine with me because I needed to get to work in the morning, but I did not find them noisy at all. Only when my dog barked did they awakened me, and they shoveled right under my bedroom window. The first time they came, they did not open my gate and shovel all the way to the garage. I called, they returned right away, and I never again had a problem. In fact, when my gate became too frozen and encased in snow to open wide enough to get my car through, the young man shoveled inside the fence anyway so that my dog could get into the back yard. He did not have to do this as the contract clearly states. But as a senior who could not have kept up with the shoveling this year, I was grateful. Although I only spoke to those shoveling a couple of times, when I did, they were very polite and eager to accommodate. I will definitely use this service next winter, and I plan to sign up for unlimited plowing.

This is for unlimited snow plowing services. When you pick this option you have to project that you will use it many times, in other words that you will have 5 snowstorms in which you will need plowing. It is a gamble that may or may not pay off. I decided to go for unlimited snow plowing. The plowing that was done was satisfactory.

From start to finish, we could not have been more impressed with Margolis. Dan was our primary contact. We were working with him simply to purchase the materials for our patio project, which he was happy to sell to us. But when I showed him our plans, he expressed some concern for us about whether we'd be able to complete it before weather was an issue (we have 2 young children, so we could only put in so many hours). He gave us the quote for just the materials, and also gave us a quote for one of their teams to complete the work. The remarkably low price difference was compelling, and we contracted them.
Once we signed the contract, their team began work within 3 business days, and then completed work by the end of the 4th business day. The workers were timely and respectful, and the foreman (Rob) was obviously a very dedicated, talented individual who knew his job extremely well. Our project was not the simplest, and they executed it flawlessly, exactly as we had planned it and infinitely better than we could have done it.
I would hire Margolis a hundred times over, and would recommend them to anyone. Based on our experience, we intend to have them come out to build a brick paver sidewalk in the next few years, and will be hiring them to tend our yard. A great company.

The company appears to be geared to commercial service. After the first push they came and plowed at 3AM. Had to discontinue service due to neighbor complaint. They were good about returning unused portion of the contract fee.

I was really happy with the work. They subcontracted to another company who did the sprinklers in about a day, and then they came in about a week later to lay down the sod, which took a day.
They installed and programmed the lawn timer for me so I wouldn't have to do it. Their prices were very cheap compared to the others in the area and I plan on using them again for basic landscaping and a patio in the spring.

The men doing the work were on time, they were very friendly, as was the owner of the company. When the work was finished, I noticed that the patio area was about 7 inches shorter than it was originally because some of my existing bricks were broken and couldn't be re-used. When I told this to the owner, he didn't hesitate to tell me that he'd send his men back out, provide me with some more bricks, and not charge me for it. At that point, I asked him to add another two feet of brick work to the patio which I would pay for. The original price was $700.00, and the extra length was $100.00. I considered that reasonable. The men were there the next day to complete the job. I was VERY happy with their work.
