I took my computer to T & T Computers because they had good reviews on Angie?s List. Well, good reviews don?t always mean you?ll get good work done. 1st problem: I was told by the man behind the counter that his technician was sick and it would be three or four days before my computer would be fixed. A few days later I was told his technician had pneumonia and it would be awhile. 2nd Problem: I was told the problem was the hard drive. He said he didn?t have the 500 Gig hard drive I had in my computer, but he had a 250. He said if I wanted a 500 I would have to buy it myself and bring it to him. I know he should be able to call or email his supplier and have whatever part he wanted the next day. Why would he make the customer?who might very well not know where to buy or what to buy, as I don?t?go out and buy the parts? Go figure. But I said go ahead and put in the 250 because I don?t need 500 gigs anyhow. 3rd Problem: The CD/DVD didn?t work. I was told it was the motherboard and it would cost $200. All the Dell programs weren?t put on the new hard drive and the driver for the CD/DVD are on the Dell software. 4rd Problem: I took my computer to T&T on July 2 and finally picked it up on August 1. He said he couldn?t install Microsoft Office 2010 because he didn?t have a disc. I gave him the activation code, so he could have downloaded Microsoft Office and activated in five minutes. I know because I took the computer to Compass Computer Co. and the owner, Jeff Babbie, downloaded Microsoft Office and activated it in five minutes while I waited. 5th problem: While Microsoft Office was downloading Jeff look around my computer and found that Windows had not been activated. If Jeff hadn?t have caught this problem my operating system would have shut down, and I, not knowing much about computers, wouldn?t have known what to do. Activating Windows took Jeff five minutes. While I waited. 6th problem: I specifically told T&T to install Anti-malware. When I got my computer back home I was online for a couple hours before I started looking around it see what all was wrong. I had McAfee on my computer when I took it in, but I was told he couldn?t transfer it and he would install AVG. He didn?t. Compass Computer Co. installed Microsoft Security Essentials. Luckily, I didn?t pick up a virus. 7th Problem: I tried to turn off my touchpad, but I couldn?t because the driver for the touchpad was on the Dell software. I spent aeons fixing the problem. A learned technician could have done it in five minutes. I don?t know what else I?ll run into. 8th Problem: I have four printers and one scanner. I can only install two printers and my scanner. Before I took my computer to T&T everything worked fine. 8th Problem: I can?t get into Angie?s List?s website on the computer I took to T&T. I can get into all the other websites I do business with, and I can get into Angie?s List on the other computer in my house, but I can?t get into Angie?s List on the computer it took to T&T for repairs. Sure looks funny. I?m getting curiouser and curiouser and curiouser. The work was performed at T&T Computer repair. I?ll update this review as time goes on.

Response from T & T COMPUTER REPAIR
Customer computer hard drive was dead when brought in buy customer. No software was recoverable. Loaded new windows using customers serial # on machine. Fresh load of windows when customer left. Customer never gave serial # for office and we can not install with out this number its against the law. Customers dvd player on system didn't work had to load using external dvd player. The bios wouldn't see the dvd player on boot up. Which shows problem with motherboard. Tech showed customer booted system and went on line at shop and customer signed workorder to accept system fully working when left. Never heard any complaints after repairs. Untill this rediculous review. We install avg on every system because its free and covers against viruses, Why would we not as customer said. ??

Description of Work: T & T installed a new battery and more memory. I was told they had to send away for the battery. I was without my computer about 2 weeks. I was also told that problems I had been having: slowness, odd cursor jumps, problems installing updates, were due to my computer's limited memory and would be resolved with an increase. When I finally did get my computer back and began using it, I saw no difference in its performance. I checked and there was a new battery and more memory, but the problems still remained. Maybe these problems are due to my server but it seems to me I should have been warned of this. I was told that the computer was fine and no problems had been found.

Customer was showed computer work fine when she picked it up. We boot all systems and have the customer use it before they leave and are happy. She was happy. She never called and told us she was still having slow downs. We would have been more than happy to recheck. We can not diagnose someones network at there home or business we put it on our network and if it works fine the problem is not with the system.

After the virus protection on my desk top computer expired, I tried an online service that was advertised to kill viruses ($100). When that didn't work I tried a service that sends a technician to the house ($200). I cancelled that when I received a preliminary call to be sure I understood there was only a 50/50 chance of success & to ask if I had the orginal disks, in case they had to clear the drive back to the manufacturer status & reload the system. Didn't like the odds; didn't have the disks. I took the computer (no cables, no disks) to T & T Computers. They said they would check & clean the computer, would not have to take it to manufacturer status, and would install free virus protection ($60), but they'd need three days. In little more than 24 hours they called & said it was ready. The computer is operating well. Next time I will START with T & T Computers.
Description of Work: They checked the computer for viruses or other invasions & installed virus protection.

We dropped it off on Saturday they said to give them 3 days we called back on Tuesday and they said it was a bad hard drive. We picked it up and called the manufacturer and they agreed to replace it. TNT Computer quoted $40 but since they did not fix it they only charged $20. Overall a good experience.

T&T had to replace the hard drives on each and the power supply on one. Each computer repair was less than $200 and that included labor.

They quoted the price of $69.00 and it was completed within 3 business days. They were also able to restore the contents of the hard drive from another computer (older) for $35. Pleaese note that if they are not able to restores hard drive (eg., forensics or complete restoration of hard drive), this would cost much more ($1,000 if sent outside their shop). But normal computer use and virus removal is $69.00 They do not wish to quote hourly fees but a fixed price.
Description of Work: T & T cleaned the components of my Toshiba laptop and had it back running perfectly. This was especially important since I had 2007 tax data on it.

Description of Work: The USB ports on my PC would not recognize storage devices. In trying to repair myself, I caused the keyboard and mouse ports to shut down totally disabling the computer. T&T fixed the problem without losing any data or applications. They charged a flat fee of $69.00 minus $10.00 for a coupon they have on their website. They were pleasant to deal with and they took care not to scratch the PC case. I would recommend them to anyone.
