Modernistic

They did a fantastic job! The whole experience, from initial scheduling through final cleaning, was beyond my expectations. When they arrived, they carefully reviewed the areas to be cleaned and worked patiently to get all of the spots out of the carpet. They were not in a hurry and were clearly concerned about their service and if it met my expectations. My family room had a large stain from a roof leak from a few years ago and I told the technicians that I wasn't expecting them to get it out. Much to my surprise, they were able to remove the stain. They also cleaned a foyer rug at no additional charge. I will definitely use Modernistic again.

The technician arrived in a timely manner. We were surprised that only one technician arrived to service our cleaning project. We left the sofa and love seat in the den; all other furniture had been removed from the room. The technician made it seem that all furniture should have been removed from the room. In order to clean the carpeting, the technician tipped the furniture forward so he was able to service the area. After the carpet was cleaned in the den I was surprised to see that no Styrofoam blocks had been placed under the legs of sofa and love seat. When I inquired the technician said that the blocks weren't required under the legs. I chose not to question his response since I thought he was the expert in cleaning carpet and I am just a customer. By the way, there were a couple of small spots, about a sixteenth of an inch, that the technician did not pre-treat or take any special steps to remove. More about the spots later. The area rug was cleaned without any problems. Unfortunately the technician could not quote a price for the scotchguard service since he did not have a price list on hand. He did contact the office to find out the pricing information. We agreed to have the scotchguard applied to the cleaned carpeting. Apparently the technician didn't think it was appropriate to apply scotchguard to all of the carpeting in the den. Scotchguard was applied only to the areas where there was no furniture. I guess he thought we would never move the furniture in the room! I didn't argue the point since I was becoming more disappointed in the modernistic experience. After the technician made his quick exit we noticed that the truck had leaked oil on our freshly seal-coated asphalt driveway. I did contact modernistic about this issue. The lady in the office offered her sincere apologies about the oil spots on our driveway, but seemed more interested in having the truck serviced by their fleet manager than cleaning my driveway. I did mention the lack of styrofoam blocks after cleaning, which she mentioned should have been installed by the technician. It was apparent that modernistic was not about to offer win my future loyalty. The spots that I mentioned are still there. According to the modernistic work order they offer a 100% customer delight guarantee, but the customer must call within seven days of job completion. That means that since we went out of town the day after the rug cleaning I am out of luck in having this problem resolved. Will we use modernistic in the future? I don't think so the experience has proven to be much less than satisfactory. By the way I did use angie's list to select modernistic for this service. Upon further reflection I think I will lower my ratings at the beginning of this page. A message was let on my answering machine on August 2nd by Jill McDonald. Ms. McDonald did express concern about the service we had received and asked for a return telephone call. Unfortunately we were out of town when the telephone call was received at our home. Upon returning from our trip I did telephone her back to discuss this matter. I was informed that Ms. McDonald was not in the office and I left her a somewhat lengthy voice mail. I did note the service problem, left my name, address and telephone number. Since that time I have never received a return telephone call. As a consumer I am deeply disturbed by the lack of courtesy and professionalism I have been extended by Modernistic. The spots that I had mentioned in my earlier review were eliminated by using Rosenthal's Carpet & Upholstery cleaner. This cleaner which we have used with great success in the past was sprayed on and worked gently with a medium bristle brush. Rosenthal's unlike Modernistic did not disappoint; it removed the spots. If a on-the-shelf cleaner removed the spots, why was the technician unable to do the same? Needless to say this experience will probably be the last business we do with Modernistic. What a waste of $147.45. Hopefully others will be spared this experience.

Modernistic Cleaning did a horrible job. There were spots that weren't removed from the carpet. The upholstery has spots on them still. I'm not happy. I certainly won't go with them again. Basically, they didn't do much at all. It's like I threw $500.00 away. The guys were fine. They just didn't do a good job.

Good cleaning. They said they did what they could do to clean the carpets. Some traffic patterns/stains could not be removed, previous owners had pets. We have now decided to replace some of the carpets. The kids had allergies being in the house before the cleaning and after the cleaning they have not had any problems. It appears the carpet cleaning & anti allergen worked.

They arrived during the designated time, two men came in and one did the work upstairs while the other worked downstairs. They were quick, efficient and very curtious.

Sean, the technician, arrived minutes before the time scheduled. He was very professional and started in on the carpet right away. Despite the oppressive heat, he worked diligently and thoroughly until the job was complete. The job was completed without any undue interruptions or inconvenience. The carpet looks new again and we are very pleased with the results. We will definitely use Modernistic again and would certainly recommend them.

It went very well. I would have appreciated it though if they had informed us ahead about the scotchguard and deodorizing services as each separate extra fees for each area so I could have gone and taken advantage of the promo with Angie's List and purchased it and still saved a little. We were at our new house and had no computer access. Anyways, David Doyle was very courteous, professional and did a wonderful job! We thank you and appreciate the good work.

I purchased the whole home cleaning from an Angie's list advertised deal for $299. This covers 10 heating ducts (and all cold air returns). I had 12 heating ducts so it was a little more. I scheduled the service for a few weeks later, however I had to make a schedule change 5 days before the scheduled appointment. The schedule change was easy and "no problem". They call the morning of the scheduled day and provide a 2 hour window for the cleaning. They called ~ 8am, we agreed on the time, and they were right on time for the cleaning. The cleaning involves cutting one large hole and several small holes in accessible heating and cold air return ducts in the furnace area. Then a large truck mounted vacuum cleaner hose runs to the basement and attaches to the large holes to remove dust and dirt while high pressure air is blown into each register opening sweeping the dust and dirt to the large vacuum hose. Protective floor coverings were used where necessary. All holes a re-sealed with tight fitting rubber covers. The furnace / AC is turned off during the cleaning and turned back on at the end. I was able to peek at the before and after heating ducts with their fiber optic camera. I could see that the dirty ducts were cleaned as expected. A 2 person crew completed the project in under two hours and left everything organized and clean.

They knew what they were doing, well-prepared, efficient and courteous.

The work turned out fine. They were clean, neat, and quick.

Delay was communicated, arrived 1 hr past the 1-4pm window promised originally, cleaned with care and was helpful, professional. Carpet dried within 24 hours.

They did a really good job. It was a fair price. They were here before their appointment. I would use them again.

They broke a fan and didn't let me know. They left a duct hanging off and had to send someone back to fix. The reviews are mixed on this company. They broke something without notifying me and they had to come back because they left some duct work unconnected.

I have been using them about four years and they are excellent. I am about ready to call them again.

They were polite and professional, from the Customer Service staff to the Technicians that performed the actual service. They showed us our ducts before the cleaning (YUCK) and after (spic and span). They explained what they would be doing step by step, made sure our pets were safe, and completed their work in about an hour and a half. Very impressed with them! They even wore booties over their shoes so they wouldn't track on our carpet. Will definitely use them in 5 - 7 years!

I purchased a Big Deal for Modernistic Cleaning. We like them. He did a very nice job and he seemed to know what he was doing.

Good carpets but were visibly dirty in traffic areas. They look clean now!

My experience with them was good. The person who came was friendly.

The technician was polite, professional, and thorough. We have a puppy and some of the carpet needed extra attention....which it get! We were very happy with the outcome and would use Modernistic services again.

I called to schedule a carpet cleaning the week prior to the cleaning. Told the very polite customer service rep that we were going to be having the carpets cleaned for our new house prior to moving in. I needed to take the day off work to coordinate the event and be present at the empty house. I was instructed that I would get a phone call from the technician that morning to finalize the appointment time. My wife and I make the 1 hour commute to the new house early in the morning expecting a phone call. Late morning is coming around and I gave them a call inquiring our service time. They inform me very politely that they have new software and lost my reservation. They informed me they would call me in within an hour and were very apologetic. I waited two hours for a phone call before I called them back. Again very apologetic, but this time they said they were working with all their service technicians to see if they could come back out. I never received a follow up phone call at all, after their repeated promises to do so. I understand that mistakes are made, but please call back when you say you are going to and make your mistake right. You wasted an entire day of mine.

They always answer the phone when I call. The appointment setup is quick and effortless. The crew was quick and did and great job.

great job, but expensive

I called Modernistic to schedule a date/time and was impressed with the availability of the crew and their ability to accommodate my schedule. The technician called me in the morning to let me know the approximate time they would be there. They arrived on time and were very courteous and professional. The carpets looked great while they were wet but, as they started to dry, I noticed that there appeared to be yellowish/brown stains on my carpet where there were not stains before. They also were not able to get a stain up that I was aware of from my upstairs hallway. When I called to discuss this with them, the girl was short with me and tried to tell me that my hallway was not included in the original order and that she talked to her manager who said I would have to pay for them to come back to re-clean the hallway! Now why would i have the whole house cleaned and not one hallway! She also acknowledge that it is possible that stains that were not visible before could be "brought out" during the cleaning process (WHAT?!)! I told her that it was ordered as a whole house clean and that the whole house was cleaned by the techs who never stated that the hallway was not part of the order. She insisted I would have to pay for the hallway but that they would come back out for the other spots for free. My house was about to go on the market on Saturday (I called Friday morning) but they couldn't come back out again until Monday. I am very disappointed and ended up re-cleaning the spots myself. I will not use them again. I feel my carpet actually looks worse now then before they cleaned!

They were prompts efficient and very polite. They cleaned a 14-year-old sofa that looks very bright and clean. I was very happy with their service.

Overall the experience was positive. First, I was very happy with the scheduling flexibility - I essentially picked the time. The technician showed up on time and was very careful and diligent in his work. He was interested in my concerns. He worked very hard to get a very tough stain out, which I appreciated. Did not find any areas that were missed (which I have experienced with other carpet cleaners in the past) - especially difficult given he did the work in the late evening without the benefit of natural light. Overall, I was favorably impressed compared to other carpet cleaning services I have used in the past. I will use them again.
