They pressure washed the house. Sanded , caulked and primed. He would only paint if weather allowed. He meticulously prepared the house. I love the colors.
Description of Work: This is an exceptional company. The owner was very detailed, hard-working and actually listened to our needs. My house looks amazing. I am recommending his company to all my friends. Wonderful work ethic. The paint job brought my house forward and took away the "old" house. I have a beautiful new home. I would definitely hire them again!!! Thank you Kelly and partner.

Response from Rainier Painting Co
We really enjoyed doing the work for you. It's always great to see the big difference good preparation and paint will make to a house. You picked fantastic colors. Hope you don't get tired of having the nicest looking house on the street. :) We used a top quality primer and a top coat paint with primer because of the peeling paint. Primer makes a big difference. I see so many houses with peeling paint because the previous painter did not use a primer. That will make your paint job last 20 years instead of 5 like it did. Removing mold and mildew from the house yearly and making sure your gutters are working properly are two other factors and extend the life of paint. Paint will only last a very short time in standing water. Thanks for trusting us with your home.

[Member name removed], When you called, I was driving in heavy traffic and asked you to call me back or email me. I is my intention to give an estimate to all who request one. I for some reason, I am unavailable at the moment you call, please call back. It takes less time to call back then it does to write a negative review. It is also my intention to give excellent service to all who hire us. All reviews by those who have hired us give our service an "A" I hope you had a good experience with your contractor.

I put in a review for this Company when they finished the painting job last spring of 2012. The pressure washed the house, garage, and decks. Painted the house, trim. Painted the garage and decks. When the job was finished it all looked to be fine. Now this Spring i noticed that the paint on the deck is real thin in many places and you can see the wood underneath. I called the person who did the painting and left a message describing my situation and to please call me and come and look. I never got a call and no one has come to look.
Description of Work: Rainier Painting Co. Painted my house, garage and deck last spring. When the job was finished it looked good, so I gave them a good review, even though the job took longer to complete then it should have. They gave me a written proposal and it reads: "We use the highest quality paint. We guarantee this paint application to last 8 years." About 2 months ago, i noticed in numerous places on the deck where the paint was real thin and I can see wood and in places there is no paint coverage. Approximately 3 weeks ago I called Kelly Ormsby (that is who did the painting), and told him what the problem was and for him to please call me and come by and look at the paint job on the deck. I have not heard from them at all.

Did not receive (member name removed) 's first call. When she called again, we responded the next day. The deck has dense growth of vegetation around it. This was keeping the deck wood damp. She has sense trimmed many of the trees and bushes. This should allow the deck to dry out. When I arrived there, water was standing on the deck. The paint on the house still looks great! The deck wood is soft and water saturated. Once the deck dries out, we'll scrape the flaking paint and put a few coats of primer on it. That will be followed by a few coats of solid body high quality deck stain. Decks should be painted at least every 4 years. When maintenance is not kept up, cracks appear in the wood and that gives water a place to get into the wood and sit. Eventually, the deck has to be replaced. (member name removed) said it had been quite a few years since the deck was painted. She said it was built in the 80's. Our intent is for all customers to be completely satisfied with the work we do and we'll stick to our guarantee.

I was very impressed with Kelly and his team. I called to get an estimate and Kelly was able to make it out the very same day and was one of my lowest bids. They did a great job painting, very impressed with the work. He used high quality Sherwin Williams paint. Walked around the house when he was done to do a review and he touched up any spots we found. Cleaned up everything when the job was completed. Would definitely hire Kelly again.

Contacted Kelly for an estimate to paint the exterior of my home. He got back to me and within a day or two visited my house. My home is rather large with a very steep roof line and a great deal of trim work and lots of caulking. I contacted 6 painters in total and Kellys bid was about the same as two others. Incidentally, two of the other painters let me know that the job was too big for them and one never gave an estimate after coming out to look at it. One other was double the price. After meeting with Kelly, he didn't seem phased at all by the size of the job or the high roof lines. I selected him for the job and he explained the different paint choices as I wanted the top of the line paint. About two weeks later he was able to start and everything was completed in a little over a week. I didn't realize how badly my house needed painting until after he was done. He did a terrific job and always kept the job site clean. I would highly recommend him!

I contracted with Kelly in the spring to paint this house with a body color, trim color, and a porch paint. He was my low bid by a lot, and did a great job, even replacing a broken gutter for me at a nominal fee (after getting my approval for the work). Here is my one caution, and I take part of the blame for this: because it is a rental and I don't live near it, I did most of my communicating with Kelly via email. I picked colors at Lowes even though he uses Sherwin Williams paint because he said he could color match any brand. I emailed him the numbers and descriptions from the Lowes color cards I chose, and never went to the house to check color until I got an email from the tenant saying the fuscia colored porch seemed odd. Since I had wanted more of a brick red porch, I went to see, and the porch was indeed fuscia. Since I didn't give Kelly the actual color card I had chosen, and his bid was so low, I paid him to repaint the porch. This time, I went to Sherwin Williams and chose one of their colors. Now the house looks great. I would use Kelly again, and the lesson I have learned is to actually check the color before letting the project go too far. But he is a very nice, honest guy and works hard to do a good job.

Kelly did a very nice job of painting the house, large decks and garage. He is very meticulous about his work, and I feel very fortunate to have him paint my house. He worked long hours and finished the job in a timely manner (of course--weather permitting ). My house has a great number of windows, which required time consuming masking and painting with hand brush. His bid was lowest of the three bids i got. I would highly recommend Kelly for any painting job, and wouldn't hesitate to hire him again in the future. Thanks Kelly for a job so very well done!
Description of Work: Kelly Ormsby pressure washed my house and the garage. He spray painted and used the paint roller on the two buildings. A different color was used on the trim and doors. He cleaned the pine needles from the house roof and did a repair on a exterior door, also.

The job was intiated when the weather permitted and he worked in between bad weather days as rapdily as he could. The entire job was done excpet for a few end-tasks, in about 4 weeks, encompassing about 10 actual days of work when rain did not prohibit.
Description of Work: Mr Ormsby first bid on the house in the fall but the weather prevented starting until the spring. He stood by the initial bid and started as soon as weather permitted. Ours is a 1940 house and the last painters (Sunnyside, based in Tacoma--avoid like the plague) were, in a word, nightmarish. As a result, Kelly underbid the job, and shortly into the endless scraping that was needed, realized this. He never said a word but continued doing the thorough, professional job of prepration he had done all along. It was only with my prodding that he admitted he had underestimated the job but said he can't do a less than full-effort job regardless, and had simply accepted his error. His painting was as well done as the prepration--excellent. He didn't exactly tiptoe through the tulips, but was a lot more respectful of our plantings than the hobnialed painters we had before. The end result is very attractive, and this time, will undoubtedly last much longer than the 4 years the previous job endured, peeling all the way. Preperation is the key to a lasting paint job, and between the extremely concientious work and quality primer and final coat, I anticipate a long respite before the next painting is needed. Kelly is a personable man, who is honest, works hard, does excellent work, and can be completely trusted to adhere to his word and to give accurate and honest information to the home owner. You don't need to know much about what makes for a quality, cost effective job of house painting because he will tell you the truth about your situation and offer reasonable solutions.

Kelly's bid was the lowest of the three bids we obtained, but only slightly less than another company. With 2011 being a very unusal summer Kelly's firm was backed up with jobs. Unfortunately there were several delays to getting the job was started. I had to leave town for a family situation and then Kelly started the job. My husband was on hand to over see the project along with my best friend who lives next door. Unfortunately neither of them had paid much attention when i spoke about where the trim colors were supposed to be. When I returned from my trip I was delighted to see the freshly painted house. The new paint brought out the texture in the Hardy-board that had been invisible. Kelly used a satin finish on the paint, which I would not have thought to have done. He used Baurer Paint so that it will be easy for us to match and do touch ups in the future. Other contractors had suggested specialty paint that might have been an issue. There were architectural details in the front porch supports that were only painted with the base color because of the misunderstanding on where to paint trim, also most of the fascia was the base color instead of the trim. When I brought the issue to Kelly's attention he made a special trip out to discuss the situation with me. I told him that if he painted the fascia and left me paint, I would be happy to do the trim on the paint because my absence had contributed to the original misunderstanding, but he went ahead and paint that trim too. There were a couple of overspray areas and drips on the driveway, which he cleaned up with no problem. I would be happy to recommend Rainer Painting Company to anyone desiring a good quality prep and exterior paint job. I will also consider this company when I have a large interior painting project.
Description of Work: Full exterior painting on our 1800 square foot, two story home. This 2001 house had not been maintained well by the previous owners. The clap boards are Hardy-board, but the trim was OSB and rough cut wood. In some places bare wood was exposed. The previous paint job had a four color scheme. Kelly was willing to work with my goal to maintain the original look, with fresh colors.

WE called Rainier Painting on approx. August 4th and set up a date of August 7th for him to come and give us an estimate. We waited and waited, yet he never showed up , nor did he have the courtesey to call to reschedule or let us know. Very bad customer service and would never reccommend them to anyone. If he was busy, he just had to say so and we would have moved on. Don't make an appointment then just "forget" to show up. Our time is valuable too.

Sorry Member, the reception was bad in the area we were working in and I couldn't reach you. The NW rains can have us working long house to get back on schedule. We get really busy after May. Please call and make apointments ASAP if you know your planning on having your house painted. May, April and June are the best times to plan and get scheduled. We can help you with colors if needed. :)

I had initially gotten three estimates for the job. We really liked Kelly after meeting and talking with him and decided to use him for the work. Everything about the paint job was thorough, from the prep work to the cleanup. The job was finished in a timely manner, and the house looks fantastic. The two guys who work for Kelly were very nice as well. The whole experience was great from start to finish. I was very pleased with the price I paid as well; we definitely got our money's worth! We will recommend Rainier Painting to anyone who asks.

The owner came out to give us a bid and was detail oriented as to what needed to be done. What services he would provide and a specific timeline regarding the process. After getting several bids I went to Angie's list to see what their ratings were. I am very glad I did this because my husband wanted to go with another company that had awful ratings. The owner and his staff were very professional and stuck to exactly what we asked for at an affordable price. Upon completion the house looked absolutely beautiful. My husband was a little fearful that the color I had chosen would not look good, but after they put the vibrant white trim on, it popped! The owner made sure to have both of us examine every inch of his work as he follower with a brush to touch up any tiny thing we saw. Needless to say, there were maybe two tiny areas that needed a dab of paint. The job was done quickly, efficiently and most of all professionally. He came to the home each day with the same crew (no subs) and did exactly what he said he was going to do. I would recommend this company to anyone and plan on using them again.

Disappointed. Tried to get an estimate on 12 JUL at 4:30PM. By 5:30PM he had failed to show and give me a call as I asked if there would be a change in time. I called Kelly (the owner) to see what the problem was....a job was taking longer because of rain interruptions. I asked if the next day would be ok...at 10AM. He agreed. On 13 JUL he failed to show again, but he did call at 11:10AM and asked if he might reschedule the ...10:30AM....appointment. I corrected him on the time we agreed to the previous day. I followed that with, "No need to bother with meeting me at all". He sounded discouraged. At no time did I get an apology from him for his tardiness on either occasion. I guess he doesn't need the work.

Sorry for the disappointment member. We were behind because of the rain and we had other contractors waiting on us to finish. I left your phone number at the office and didn't have any way to contact you. I called the office it took about an hour for the return call with the number. When I called you, I tried to explain but you were very short with me on the phone. This is our busiest time of the year the rain hasn't helped but I also understand your frustration. We understand your time is important too and we make 99% of our appointments or we call to reschedule.

I would not recommend Rainer Painting as I am very busy and do not appreciate my time being wasted.
Description of Work: I am currently looking for estimates to paint the interior of our newly purchased home. The house is roughly 3400sqft in size. I called and left Rainer Painting a voice mail on 11/29/2010 at 11:55AM that I was interested in having them provide me an estimate for services. Kelly, I assume the owner, responded later in the afternoon and we setup a meeting for 11/30/2010 for 8:00AM. 8:00AM appointment - Kelly called at 8:05AM and stated he was running 5 - 10 mins late. Then he finally called at 8:35Am stating that he was lost. How can you be lost with Google Maps, Mapquest, and GPS systems? Also, the property is very easy to find as the connecting street is a major road. I told him the night before that I had another contractor coming at 9:15 to help with flooring so time was critical. Obviously the job of painting the interior of a 3400sqft home, which I would think would be a fairly good job, was not important.. I would not recommend Rainer Painting as I am very busy and do not appreciate my time being wasted.

All our calls are documented. The Member called at noon and left message requesting a quote. His call was returned by us within an hour. We got The Members voice mail and left him a message to call us. We tried once again before 5:00 and got his voice mail again. The Member returned our call at 8:00pm that night. He requested a quote for the next day. He said that the only time he had available was 8:00am in the morning because he had contractors lined up all day. We had a tight schedule the next morning but agreed we would come by at 8:00am. We should have let this one go. The main street leading to The Members’ house goes by two names. Our directions (from Google) had the name that was not on the street sign. Some of the streets in that area have been built recently. We were about 10 minutes late so we called to tell him we were having difficulty finding his house, and he couldn’t give us any assistance with directions. He didn’t know that the street had a second name either. He was very short and let us know that he had many painting contractors coming that day and one was going to be there soon. It sounds to me like he overbooked his day. We would have been happy to give him a quote, but it sounds like he had it taken care of with plenty of painters scheduled. Normally, 3 quotes are recommended. A Contractors time is as important as his! We have very high ratings on all our jobs because we plan ahead. We appreciate a one day notice for appointments. We always put our customer first and we expect the same treatment. We have recently purchased a GPS system.

The house looks really nice! Kelly was great to work with. He was helpful with the selection of paint and trim and most of all calm and patient during the process that took longer than anticipated due to the rainy September weather this year. Kelly has a kind manner, is flexible and has a good sense of humor. He always took time to talk and listen to my concerns or general conversation. He fixed everything on my list to my satisfaction. His price was better than most of the estimates I received. I would definitly recommend him to my friends and hire him again when I have a painting project.
Description of Work: My tri-level home last stained in 1992 was prepped, primed and spray painted with two coats of paint. The trim was painted another color by hand. Kelly did the work himself with the help of two other workers. Some siding was replaced on the chimney at no additional cost. Special care was taken to prep new siding on the steep south side of my home.

Description of Work: Kelly painted a rental house that hadn't been painted in a long time, for about half what the other two companies quoted. They pressure washed & painted the outside, and painted a hallway & large room inside. The paint job looks very nice, I'm very happy with the work. Hard working professionals are hard to find, but when you do find one, they stand out and you do whatever you can to make sure you have the opportunity to work with them. That has been our experience while working with Kelly Ormsby, owner of Rainier Painting Company. He is professional, extremely talented, and efficient in the use of everyone?s time and resources. Kelly returned our call within a 24 a hour time span, kept his scheduled appointment time to give us a bid for the exterior painting of our home and his bid was reasonable. His work is clean and he even provided a specialty faux paint service for a section of the exterior decor shingles. We would like to express our personal and my professional endorsement for Kelly Ormsby. Anyone who has the opportunity to retain his services and benefit from his expertise should do so with out hesitation. We have kept several of his business cards should anyone we know need his services. Sincerely, Karen I. Kelly came to give me an estimate which was in the ballpark with others I'd received. I chose his company in large part because they could do the window trim. Kelly was most patient when I had problems choosing a paint color that I liked and actually did a partial "do-over" without complaint. The job was finished within the week, clean-up was done and the result was great! Within a few days, Kelly called to see if there was anything else that needed to be done which I really appreciated. I'm a very satisfied customer and would recommend Rainier to others.
Description of Work: My two-story, daylight basement house was pressure-washed, primed and painted in three colors with latex paint. Some fascia board needed some sanding. Beams on the upper level required working from the roof. Also, they installed trim around the windows in the front and around those in the back not complicated by cedar siding.

Kelly did an excellent job of pressure washing our house a couple of days prior to painting. He and his crew painted the exterior of our house and the backyard shed to match over the course of three days. We had decided to keep our house and trim the same color so he took samples to order the paint and the match was perfect! He and his crew are very nice people and very easy to work with. They even went the extra mile to do a repair on the wood under our front living room window prior to painting as well as doing double coats on everything. They were very neat with their equipment and were careful to do minimal damage to bushes and plants near the house. We are very pleased with their work and would definitely consider using their company in the future for other painting needs.
