Justin did a great job though it turned into more than just the disposal. The water lines running into the sink were deteriorating and the plumbing running out was faulty. It turned into more of a job than expected, but he did a great job and cleaned everything up preventing a larger problem “down the road”.

Our aging water softener failed, which really negatively impacted our water quality. Dan Wood was able to get someone out to look at the problem the same day we called, which happened to be the day before Thanksgiving. The technician quickly identified and thoroughly explained the problem, then walked through several options at a variety of price points for both repair and replacement, without pressuring us into any one particular option or trying to upsell us. We eventually chose to replace the old water softener, and Dan Wood was able to schedule someone to come complete the job the morning after we got home from vacation. Everything got done promptly and correctly, with an immediate improvement in our water quality to an even better level than before the old softener failed. We paid a little bit more than we might have with some other providers, but we made a conscious decision to install higher quality and longer lasting products in our home in this case.

Contacted them by email. They responded by phone within an hour. Explained what I wanted done. They advised that there was a charge of $ 69.00 just to visit snd provide an estimate. Went ahead and scheduled an appointment for the next day. They showed up on time. I explained what I needed done, and they let me know the cost. The work took about an hour. Checked out the work they had done, and we found some leaks in previously installed piping. They went ahead and fixed those leaks with only a minimal additional charge. Very satisfied with the work.

Did not use after the plumber quoted a high $$ amount for the work: Trip charge $69 Time $120/hr Cap a pipe $150 Sign off on paperwork $25 Unfortunately, I did not ask for opinions from neighbors and coworkers, if I would have I would not have contacted Dan Wood. There are a lot of other high quality plumbers in the Kalamazoo area that will do the work for a reasonable amount.

On Christmas eve our hot water heater started leaking and we thought we would be able to baby it along through the holiday and weekend-nope. It just died. We had tried to call other places on Christmas and got through to their answering services but didn't get a return call. So we figured it could wait until the next day. We called DanWood, got their answering service, a return call within minutes and a technician (plumber) here within an hour and a half. He said if we had called them on Christmas that they would have replaced it then. Very professional, efficient and nice. We paid a little more than usual because it was on a weekend, but my family just has to have their hot water-they're spoiled. Between the time we called and the time we had hot water it was 3 hours.

Our property is a rental. Dan Wood Co. was informed of this and yet they failed to pull a permit with the city for inspection. This resulted in several phone calls and a follow up visit to our property. It would have saved them over $100 by not pulling a permit but our property was up for inspection this year.

I called Dan wood for an appraisal. Unfortunately the price that was quoted was outrageous . $500 for 40 feet, straight 40 ft. of black pipe (plus the connection and valve). The tech also left out many details about the project that would have saved a lot of time and money with another company. I ended up going with another company that offered several of these options at a fraction of the estimate I was given . I could not recommend the technician they sent as I felt he was very misleading and was only interested in charging me the $77 call fee.

TJ arrived right on time, was courteous and professional - assessed the project and got busy right away. He kept the house and the work space very neat and tidy with booties on his feet and sheets on the kitchen floor. He had to drill through the cabinet to tie into the water/drain line and through the floor to tie into the electrical. Both sites were neat, tidy cuts and the mess was cleaned up. Even the basement where he needed to get at the pipes and electrical was clean (even though I had a mess around the area :-)) TJ was careful to test the dishwasher after it was installed, making sure that it ran and drained checking for leaks - none were found. He also gave me some pointers on how to ensure that the machine would clean most efficiently and tips for general maintenance. TJ worked independently, only needing to ask me minimal questions which allowed me to work from home while he did the installation. I highly recommend TJ and Dan Wood Company.

I had a kitchen clog that was pretty severe - both kitchen sinks would not drain in spite of my best efforts the day before to resolve the problem on my own. I called Dan Wood first thing in the morning and they were able to dispatch CW quickly. CW arrived at exactly when the dispatcher said he would, and he was courteous and professional - assessed the project and got busy right away. He kept the house and the work space very neat and tidy with booties on his feet and sheets on the kitchen floor. He had to access several clean-outs along the run of piping to gain access to the clog and each site was clean when he was done. He had to pull everything out from under the kitchen cabinet and when he left, it was all put back away - even the shelf liners were returned to their proper place. CW was careful to test the drain line, making sure that it ran through, drained and checked for leaks - none were found. He also suggested an enzyme product to use to prevent such a severe back up in the future. CW worked independently, only needing to ask me minimal questions which allowed me to take care of my 2 younger children and other things around the house. I highly recommend CW and Dan Wood Company!

I called at 7:30 AM to report that my furnace was not working. I was told that they would send someone out sometime that day and that I would be contacted by a dispatcher to keep me updated on expected time of arrival. My wife stayed home from work to be there for the technician.I received no update call throughout the day so I finally called them at 2:00PM and was told they were on their way. The wait was not really a big deal considering the recent low temperatures. They furnace started working on its own around noon but we kept the appointment because this had happened in the past and we still wanted everything checked out. When the technician arrived, my wife explained that this issue had happened in the past and it was the result of the furnace intake pipe on the side of the house occluded with snow. He looked at the furnace and commented that is recently had a checkup so that wasn't needed and he went outside and looked at the furnace intake pipe. He then wrote out an invoice for $128, $69 for the service call and $59 for "snow removal". Total time spent at the house: 15 minutes. I have no issue with the service call charge but the $59 charge for snow removal was a joke. There was no snow to remove and I took pictures to prove it. There was not snow within 2 feet of the house and the pipe is approximately 3 feet off the ground. I called to complain and finally talked to Steve, whom I believe is the service manager. I explained the situation and he said he talked to the tech and was told that he removed snow. I told him I had pictures showing no snow in the area but he didn't want to see them. Going forward, I'll look elsewhere for my heating and air conditioning needs and and encourage others to do the same. I question the ethics of the Dan Wood Company ****Addendum 1/25/2015**** The response from Dan Wood Co is laughable. Over $59, they've resorted to calling two of their customers liars. Facts: furnace was working perfectly when they finally arrived, snow did not exist withing 3 feet of the intake pipe, no work was done. For this an additional $59 was charged. My wife was able to competently describe the experience to me, in fact she helped me write the initial review. Your contention that I was not home therefore I don't have all the facts is a straw-man argument at best. I will go out of my way to discourage others from using Dan Wood Company in the future. There are far too many other choices for HVAC/plumbing needs in this area.
Description of Work: Nothing. They were responding to my call for a non-functional furnace.

Our customer’s wife was the one at home at the time of the call and when our technician went over with her what the issue with the furnace was and the cost of $59 for the repair and she agreed with these charges. Our technicians are all very honest, and even in the customer’s comments, our technician did not try to offer a furnace check up as he could tell one had recently been completed. Our technician did remove snow from the intake. The gentleman who is leaving this review was not home at the time of the service call and took some pictures after the fact, stating there was no snow to remove and it had melted. At the time of the call there was snow to remove. Our technician arrived at 2:40pm and was complete at 3:15pm.

Called and set an appointment on 18th Dec 2014 for Saturday 20th Dec 2014. The time set was flexible. A call from the company was to confirm the appointment for any changes. I had to announce the type of payment either over the phone or to wait for the representative to show. The company charges a fee just to come out and do an evaluation. The representative called to let me know when he was going to show. Very pleased on the professionalism. When he arrive he introduce himself as Don. I thought this to be ironic "lol". I then showed and communicated my issue or issues with the problem I had with the sink. He quickly assessed the situation and went back to his vehicle and returned in a few minutes with three alternatives to what I may want in fixing my sink. I really liked having a choice in what and how much money I may have to spend in the type of repairs. Don then proceeded in fixing my problem. He did not complain or get upset over any difficulties. Very patient. He remained professional through out the whole time. It roughly took about two to three hours but well worth the wait. My plumbing was slightly out dated but after Don was done I was back in the twenty first Century. Very please with the craftsmanship. He even cleaned up after. It may have been a little costly but would rather have it done the first time around. I recommend Dan Wood for any type of plumbing.

After having a national water treatment chain try and try to clean make our difficult well water usable we gave up on them. I was tired of them sending out "Water Techs" that most likely couldn't fix a sandwich let alone our water problems. I went next door and asked who put their water system in. Dan Wood was the answer. The salesman came out and was very knowledgeable about our problems. When the installer came out he was a actual plumber and did a excellent job. After the system was up and running the salesman returned to check up and fine tune it after a week or so. Over a year later the system is working great and I like knowing that if I do have a problem Dan Wood is local and will sent a plumber, not a tech to solve any issues I have. Calling a water treatment national chain was a huge expensive mistake. Calling Dan Wood was the answer.
