There was a couple of days lag between the time I left them a message, and they contacted me back. I explained the situation, they are local to the area and said they'd come out and leave an estimate, which they did. The estimate was $350, which I thought was very reasonable and did not seek any more estimates. I contacted them back and gave them the go ahead. This was sometime in May. They said they were backlogged due to a very wet spring, and the weather part was correct. I never heard from them again until late June when they called to ask if I still wanted the work done, and I said yes I do, haven't heard from you, what is going on? They referred again to the weather and other big job going on elsewhere. Since this was not an emergency (more lousy cosmetics than a danger) I didn't push them. Going into mid-July they came out to the house on a Saturday, with no notice, and it happened to be when the subdivision yard sale was taking place, and my wife and her daughter had things out all over the place, including the front porch. They were told it wasn't a good time and indicated they would be back the following weekend.
It wasn't the following week end, but during a week day maybe 1-1/2 week later. They came out to do the work, unannounced. Fortunately my wife was at home and told them to go ahead. They explained that they had tried to call my cell the previous day, and I didn't answer it. BUT, they didn't leave a message. It is possible that they tried to call me. I am in meetings usually most of the time at work and the cell is turned down or on silent. If I don't recognize the call I will reject it. So maybe in their defense I can say this may be correct.
The work was good and thorough. Instructions were left with my wife to stay off the repaired pavers for 48 hours or so to let them set. Also indicated they would be back in a week or so to check that all the bricks were set, and to sweep poly sand into the cracks to fill them. They did come back out, re-inspect sand spread the poly sand, left instructions not to wet the brick for a few days until the poly sand had set. Job over! Paid them $350 as originally quoted.
The bottom line? They did what they said for the price they quoted and the work was good and it looks just fine. I noticed that they had done a number of other jobs that were rated very well on here, but for thousands of dollars more. By comparison to those, this was a teeny job! Perhaps that is why we fell off the radar screen? They were polite and professional and did good work, for a good price. But I would say the lengthy intervals between contacts can certainly be improved on. All in all, I was happy with the job and would use them again. My advice is that if they give you a good price, you can expect very good work. But leave plenty of lead time to get the work done.
The price was about in the middle of all the contractors but that is not what sold us. It was the owners knowledge and hands on detail that really sold it for us. In fact the year after they completed the back yard we rehired them again to finish up the sidewalk, remove a cement walking path, expand a flower bed, sod over the new bare spots and extend the downspouts.
