I did not tell Alpha & Omega what the diagnosis was from Dr. Sweep so he would be objective. He looked up my chimney and said it had soot but no bad creosote build up. Then I told him that Dr. Sweep said I had a level 3 creosote build up and I needed a $350 chemical cleaning. Alpha & Omega told me I was being ripped off. My chimney was fine to use.
Description of Work: Second opinion. I was suspicious of Dr. sweeps diagnosis. Dr Sweep wanted to charge me $350 for a chemical cleaning. Alpha Omega said I was being ripped off, just as I suspected.

,Servicemen were irritable and defensive. The repeatedly criticized former chimney sweeps that we had used and argued between themselves. Discovered that they had not sufficiently latched the front door to our wood stove, when part way through burning, the door burst open and a burning log rolled onto our wood floor and carpeting. An all-around miserable experience

Dear Member We were sad to read your review. Customer satisfaction and quality service are the top priorities at Alpha and Omega LLC. We wanted to explain to you our process and how it was different than other providers you have used to make sure you understood why it was the most effective way to sweep you chimney. Yours was a difficult chimney sweep due to it being a very tall and step roof. Our apologies if it came out as criticizing the other providers. We simply wanted you to be aware of our process and why we believe it is the most effective solution. Rest assured, we always close the doors after we have completed the chimney sweep. Rest assured we were not arguing between ourselves. We were struggling a little bit with the 12 foot piece of piping we had to take down inside the house. We had to take down the pipe to properly remove the creosote on top of the stove baffle as that's the only way to get to it. The same process was done in last year’s chimney sweep. We also recommended to you after the chimney sweep to get a new wood stove and to not use the one you have because it's warped, burnt out, and is a safety concern. We welcome you to reach out to us directly to discuss this matter further if you wish.

The experience could not have been better. They guys (I should have written down their names), showed up right on time, they were very friendly and neat. The job was completed promptly and they cleaned up after themselves. They even gave me very helpful tips on installing the gas insert. I will definitely use their services again, and recommend them to others.

It was fine. They had to come back out because they didn't have the parts. It turned into a $400 job. Parts weren't there for them and I got charged for a service call for them to come back. The gentleman who came the first time was very good. The technician who came the second time was great. I was shocked that they didn't have the actual sensors on the truck. I actually had to call them a couple of times.

I phoned for an appointment in late September and got the first available appointment which was October 15. He arrived on time, did a cleaning and was given a list of repairs that were needed in order to use the fireplace. I paid him for his services and agreed to the repairs. I was told his boss was out of town, they would meet on Monday(October 19) and he would call me to let me know when he could come back out to do the repairs. He indicated I would hear from him Monday. He never phoned so on about October 23 or 26 I contacted the company to inquire about when they were coming. The person I spoke to said he didn't know anything about it but someone would call me the next morning. The serviceman did actually phone and he indicated they were very busy and he didn't know exactly when he could get to it. He also said there was supposed to be really nice weather the next week and because the job involved cement work they wanted to do it that week and he would call on Monday to let me know which day. The week came and went and, once again, no phone call. At this point, October had come and gone and the fireplace was still unusable...and twice I'd been told I would be called and given a date, but they had not done so. When I called them this time(a week after being told I'd have received a call) I was told how unreasonable I was and how busy they were. I was told I was a very difficult customer. I never complained about having to wait three weeks for their first visit. I didn't complain about the price. I am EXTREMELY PLEASED AND SATISFIED WITH THE JOB THEY FINALLY DID. But, their communication was unprofessional, and to tell me I was difficult was true only in the sense they simply never called back when the voluntarily told me they would call... THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEM IF THEY HAD PHONED AND SAID, I CAN'T COME THIS WEEK BECAUSE SOME JOBS HAVE TAKEN LONGER THAN WE THOUGHT AND I WILL COME NEXT WEEK...OR I WILL CALL NEXT WEEK. They need to schedule their customer's jobs more accurately, hire more repairmen or take less jobs. Of, stop telling customers they'll call if they have no intention of calling. From my initial call (last week of September) to the completion of the job(November 13) two and a half months have passed. I think anyone needing chimney repairs deserves to know they do not complete the work in a timely manner and they do not communicate clearly or accurately with customers. The quality of the work is good. I

Jimmy from Alpha Omega came and installed the fireplace remote on June 8th, 2015. Because of the season, the fireplace was seldom used until September. In October I was away, and my son was looking after my home. His first day over, two days after I left, he came in and found the fireplace on, and he thought I had left it on. He turned it off with the remote and informed me. The next day, he was over and he about to close blinds on either side of the fireplace. As he was walking toward the blinds, in clear view of the fireplace, it spontaneously came on. He turned off the gas to the fireplace. After I came home on November 5th I called Alpha Omega. Whomever I spoke with said they would come on Saturday, November 7th. They did not show. I called and spoke to Brian. He was very hostile and angry. He said they do not make Saturday appointments, and that they were too busy with work in other areas and didn't have time to take care of this. I called back the following Monday and spoke to Jimmy. My son spoke to him and told him the facts. Jimmy had never heard of this problem, and wanted some time to research it. My son, in front of myself and my daughter-in-law, just asked Jimmy to commit to a callback on Wednesday, November 11th, to provide a status update. He agreed to this. On Wednesday, November 11th, he did not call. I called back Alpha Omega on Thursday, November 12th and spoke to Jimmy again. He denied making this promise, but said he would come out and give us a call when he knew more. Nobody ever called or returned any of my calls for several days. I finally got a hold of Jimmy again, and I asked if he had called the manufacturer, and he said he was too busy and I should call the manufacturer, and that he would call back. He never did. I did phone the manufacturer, Skytech. I spoke to Andy, and they have heard of this problem. He thought it might be a thermal couple device on the pilot assembly. On a later call with Skytech, Debra also indicated that they have heard of this problem. Based on photos I sent them, they believe the problem has to with the installation, in particular that it is too close to the heat. Alpha Omega is NOT a licensed installer of their products, so they are unable to assist me in that regard, but they will recommend a competent, licensed installer if I need one. Immediately after my initial complaint to Angie's list was posted, Alpha Omega has made several attempts to contact me.It is my belief that without the negative review, they would have completely ignored me.
Description of Work: On June 8, 2015, Alpha Omega installed a Skytech brand remote on/off switch on my gas fireplace. The price for materials and labor was $375.

Customer satisfaction is our number one priority at A Alpha & Omega. Rest assured, we attempted to reach this member to rectify the issue several times and unfortunately did not receive a response (even prior to her writing this review). Because of no response from this member, we had assumed that it was no longer an issue, until we read this review. As soon as this member called about the fireplace, we called our distributor who rushed a new valve to us. We immediately called the member to schedule a time to replace the valve. She wanted to talk to her son about the best time for us to come back out, but unfortunately, we never received a return phone call. We reached out a couple more times but did not receive a response. We were concerned when we read this review so we also spoke with Debra and Andy at our distributor about this issue, and they shared with us that this is NOT a common problem. The distributor asked that we send the malfunctioning remote back to evaluate, but we have been unable to reach the member to do so. We invite the member to return our phone call and we will happily come out and replace the remote valve. We will always stand by our work.

Craig was very professional from start to finish. We have a gas fireplace that we haven't used since we purchased our home almost 5 years ago. We called Craig and made an appointment to come give us and estimate. He not only gave us an estimate but he gave us a lot of good suggestions on how to make the fireplace look good. So agreed to have him do the work. Craig came back after 2 weeks and did the following work. 1. He painted the inside of our fireplace black so when the new fireplace doors are installed it will look like a tv screen and it made it look darker and nicer. 2. He removed some of our ceramic logs and replaced them with better ones he had at his shop at no charge. 3. He cleaned all the junk stuff that had fallen into our fireplace. 4. He added new pebbles/fireplace dirt 5. He rearranged everything that made the fireplace flame look bigger and brighter. 6. He purchased a door for us that we selected from the brochures he should us at the time he did the estimate. He installed the door and showed us how to use it. 7. He replaced our chimney cap with the new one he purchased for us. He also some a few issues with my chimney that he mentioned he could fix down the road which we appreciated him telling us. From start to finish it was a great experience to deal with Craig. Would use him again.

I called around to several chimney repair places and Alpha and Omega had the best price. To be fair, one other place had the same price, but that company also insisted on doing a full chimney inspection for another $150 on top of the damper price even though I told them we had just had an inspection. Anyway, Alpha and Omega was very friendly on the phone and just needed to wait for another shipment of the dampers to come from their supplier. They called me back the day they came in and we scheduled the installation for two days later. Well, it was -22 with the windchill that day (schools were cancelled) so I called them and told them we could reschedule because that is way too cold for them to be outside up on the roof! They said they would be fine and came. They called to let me know when they would be here and they did a great job even though I know they were frozen solid! They even inspected our furnace chimney while they were up there. Very nice people...will definitely call them again. Took our Angie's List coupon they offered for 5% off and then even lowered it a bit more! Thank you Alpha and Omega!

This company went over and above to make sure I had my fireplace by Christmas. We orginally was going to have a family friend run the gas line, and at the last minute he had said he could no longer do it. So I called Craig at Omega and he came out the next day to quote running the gas line, we order the insert the next day and on Monday the 22nd he ran the gas line and all of the other things to make sure that I would have my lovely gas fireplace by Christmas.

The tech arrived on time. He removed his shoes at the door (which I really appreciate). He proceeded to lay down a tarp in front of the fireplace covering the hearth and the surrounding carpet. He vacuumed the logs and adjusted the flame. When restacking the logs, he showed us that the logs have a flat side that should be resting on the andirons. We didn't know this so the info was very helpful. When he was finished, he removed the tarp and his equipment without leaving any residue of soot. He was very professional and a very nice young man.

Great company! I actually called Alpha & Omega , the Williamston, Mi. location and set up the appt. for Friday Sept. 5th. The guys showed up and did a great job, very efficient, clean and very nice. Come to find out that the guy that came out is the older brother Craig of the one in Williamston, Mi., Steve and he was doing the job for his younger brother. They are both Alpha & Omega fireplace contractors that actually share everything about the business. Craig's # is 248-349-1881 or 734-451-3512. When I called Alpha & Omega in Williamston, Mi they were so polite and I even talked to Steve himself because we had had chimney swifts that took up residence over the winter and I wanted to make sure that they could sweep out the poop left from them and their nest, which is tiny and he said absolutely! So nice! (I had called and had Jimney Cricket sweep company come out and although the guy was very nice he said that he didn't have the tools to do that or it would cost over a 100.00 more and also that they didn't vacuum the bottom!) So when Craig came out he asked, do you want me to vacuum out the bottom also? I said yes please and he did the job I was so impressed and very happy to know that whichever brother you get you will be very happy from the phone call to the job well done. Both Craig and his co-worker, that worked from the roof and helped inside did such a great job! Thank you!!

The employee who arrived did only the easiest part of the work and did this in a cursory fashion. He said he did not know how we could clean out the bird nests and droppings but that we should do it before using the fireplace – and then he left. After this bad experience I hired Clean Sweeps of Michigan for the same work. Clean Sweeps was terrific (see my separate review for this firm). I do not recommend Alpha & Omega. Glenn Nelson

I talked to Craig and lined up a Mendota gas fireplace install. He was able to do a full install for about the same price as just buying the unit from a showroom. He was all over the map on pricing though. He gave me a quote on the full install and then tacked on a $65 service call fee. OK, not a big deal, but you'd think if you're about to spend $4,000+ on a fireplace with them they would charge you $65 to come to your house for 15 mins to check things out. So then I told him I thought we could live without the fireplace screen since we both didn't think it was used in the brochure picture. So he decided to take $95 off the quote for no screen. Weeks later after the install -turns out the screen is nice to have since it covers some electrical switches, so I said I'd like to order the screen. He wanted to charge me $130 for the screen that he just took $95 off the quote. He gave me some BS story about the manufacture changing prices mid way through the install. This guy has some of the worst people skills I've ever seen for someone who is trying to run a business. He ends up giving it to me for $112 and has one of his workers drop it off because he told me off on the phone and is 1) too mad and 2) probably too embarrassed that he conducts business like that. He gave his worker explicit instructions to only drop it off and not install it. You can tell this guy would do anything to screw someone over for a buck. He quoted me $85 for a chimney cap which I passed on and he sold it to my neighbor for $95. I'm happy with the fireplace and to an extent the install, but this is the last guy I would call to do any service work on my fireplace in the future.
