Rod called back after 1 or 2 phone calls. He had other projects and agreed to come out at the end of the week for a quote. (not sure I got the date right, but it was close) We didn't clarify the date or time and unfortunately I was on the way back from out of town training. He did however stay on the phone at my residence as I explained the areas of work we wanted done. He said he would get me a quote and I assumed he'd either mail it or call. I did not hear from Rod again. I had asked him to include stamped concrete as well as regular poured concrete in the quote. His company does not do stamped concrete. This in addition to the odd way of obtaining the quote is likely the reason we had no additional contact. I do not hold that against him.
Description of Work: Quote to widen driveway, replace approach and pour a large patio area near the house and garage.

All aspects of the job were handled with complete professionalism and promptness. We got exactly what we paid for, and the finished product looks terrific (strangers have told us this). When contacted, Rod promptly visited our house and gave a careful estimate for each part of the job (driveway, steps, walkway, apron, curbing, debris removal). Prior to the day he would start work, he came over to see how our plumber was progressing and determined that he could start the job on the day scheduled. On the scheduled day, he and his team of several workers arrived and they worked non-stop the first day to remove all parts of the existing asphalt and concrete so that they could commence with the new concrete they would install; some of this demolition work required using a backhoe, other parts required using a chisel and mallet to remove concrete that had gone underneath the house's front steps into a void beneath the clapboards. He offered to revise the work in progress to meet new specifications (we decided that a wider 4-foot step would be nicer than the 3-foot step he was removing, we decided with his advice not to replace the curb to the driveway that had previously been there). Rod worked carefully to grade and prep forms that would drain water away from the foundation of our house and away from our garage. At the end of the first day, the forms were in place and on day two, he and his men showed up at 6:30 to start pouring concrete due to the extreme heat (he wanted to insure they could work with the concrete and get the top coat to look right before the heat baked it too hard to shape) and worked steadily through the day to lay the concrete. At the end of the job, some harm to the neighbor's yard and ours (busted sod, trampled grass, excess dirt) needed repair, which he agree to return and take care of the following day. On day three, he showed up with top soil, grass seed, and straw to repair the yard areas adjacent to the concrete that were harmed during the project. Although this required extra payment, it was worth it to see the job through to a positive conclusion.
Description of Work: The contractor removed part of our asphalt driveway using a backhoe, removed the front steps and front walk to our house, and removed the driveway apron that connects the driveway to the city street. After removal, he leveled all areas in preparation for pouring concrete, built forms, laid steel tie rods to strengthen the concrete, and then poured the concrete for our driveway, new front steps, front walk, and driveway apron.
