I had seen an advertisement from MedicalAIert System and contacted them. My questions were answered and the service was very helpful, friendly, and responsive to my needs. The cost was reasonable and in a matter of a few days I received the unit and was able to set it up myself. The unit I chose can be used not only in my home but also it is in touch with satellite so it will work when I call no matter where I am in the United States. When I made a test call, the response was immediate so I know I will be able to have assistance quickly whenever and whereverI may need it. I am grateful for the service and support provided by the folks at MedicalAlert System.
Description of Work: I am in my 80's and home alone most of the time, or am out in my car shopping and doing errands on my own. My family suggested that they would be less concerned about me if I had a medical alert system in an emergency.

We have a lock box on the front door so if someone needs to get in, they can get the key without having to break any doors down. The buttons are waterproof so I can take it in the shower with me. I'm never without it, and it works anywhere in the yard and has a rechargeable battery. Everything they say about the product is true. I test it once a month to check the dial tone, which they encourage you to do. You can also press the real button and talk to someone in their service center anytime. Thankfully, I haven't had to use it for an emergency yet, but in the beginning we had a lot of questions and they were very knowledgeable about their product. As long as you have enough energy to press that button, you're in good shape.They are great. I would give them a "double "A"" in communication if I could.
Description of Work: My wife and I have been using their services since January. My wife wears the necklace and I wear the watch. It is monitored 24/7 and I can press a button and it acts like a walkie talkie. If I can't talk, then they send the paramedics or a neighbor.

It turned out fine. She never had to use their services, but we had the system just in case she ever did need to use it. We don't use the product anymore because my mother in law is now in a nursing home. When she was using Medical Care Alert, she never mentioned really liking or disliking anything about the product or the service, but my mother in law is pretty low key.
Description of Work: We used Medical Care Alert's service for a short time for my mother in law. She wore a necklace that tied into their medical alert program.

I think it would have been OK had my mother been able to use it. They were friendly and they followed up with us as they were concerned that the equipment wasn't working. There were no issues with the product or their service, however, again my mother just wasn't able to use the product because of her dementia.

Thank goodness we haven't had to use it in an emergency situation, but during the setup process the customer service reps were very helpful and very kind. She tests the system periodically to make sure it is working, and she has never had a complaint.
Description of Work: My mother in law uses their services and product as a home medical alert system. She has a necklace and a band that can wear, and also a box that hooks up to her phone that she can use the contact the company in an emergency.

They sent out a device which looked like a box that hooked up to her phone line. The only place my mother could possibly hook up the box was to her phone line in the den, as there were no other options. I called to test the system for my mother every 2-3 weeks, and I was always able to reach someone who was very nice, and could hear clearly. I also had my mother call to test the system, and because she is hard of hearing, she was unable to hear the operator, and they were unable to hear her. She was on the plan for 3-4 months until we stopped because it just didn't work for our situation. She is hard of hearing, which we explained to the company. They were very good about working with me to try to resolve the issue, but we ended up getting a refund and will be trying another company soon.

The machine and bracelet provided to me for my grandmother arrived a day earlier than anticipated. While the unit doesn't look brand new (okay because I'm only paying for the service not the equipment), it works well. It was easy to hook up and the directions were simple to follow. We called the company to put it in test mode and had my grandmother speak to them until she felt comfortable that she new what to expect if she needs to push the button on her bracelet. They are very professional and helpful.
Description of Work: My grandmother needed a medical alert machine in the event that she falls again and cannot get up.

I called and left a message that I was interested in learning more about the company. Very soon I was contacted by one of their agents who was an excellent salesman for the company. She answered all my questions carefully and thoroughly, and I never felt she was putting pressure on me. (I was honest about my comparison shopping.) Over the next few days, other questions came up which I emailed to her.....again, I always received a prompt response. After signing up with Medical Care Alert, the equipment arrived as advertised with clear instructions. Where necessary, it had already been preprogrammed. For several days I tested the equipment to learn the practical distance between the voice conveyor and the alert button. Every operator who answered the call, has been excellent, efficient and helpful. When I told them the equipment was new to me and I was testing its range, they worked with me in determining how far away I could get from the base and still communicate verbally. One time I took a walk away from home and pushed the button to see how the WI FI reception was going to be. The voice came right through with about 50 seconds. Then I asked if, with the GPS she could tell me where I was. Within 5 seconds she gave me the names of the 2 nearest cross streets. I was impressed. With a medical alert system, the operators who take the calls are every bit as important as the equipment. I have great faith in the expertise and compassion of the operators at Medical Care Alert.
Description of Work: The purpose of my contact with Medical Care Alert was to gather information about their mobile (both in and away from home) medical alert system and service. I had the search narrowed down to four providers and was talking with each of them before making a commitment. I eventually chose this company, Medical Care Alert.

They are very satisfactory. Their pricing and services is really good. They really fit the bill. They offer a lock box and install it for free. When I push the button, EMS will call them and get the combination of the lock box to be able to get to me. I’ve had them for 3 months. I test their system once a month. You can’t ask for better service.

provider was very helpful and professional. I have not yet had to signal my provider (thankfully). My only negative is that the necklace is long and not comfortable when I`m sitting and/or eating and sleeping.

They were great on the phone, sent their box quickly after I ordered. The lockbox wouldn't open; they talked me through trying a few things on the phone, then said they would ship out a new one and I could just consider the first one a paperweight (or throw away). The new one arrived quickly and worked fine. We tested out the system, and it seems to be as promised and working well.
Description of Work: Chose this company based on their great reviews on Angie's List, and their price of under $1/day (and no contract, can stop anytime). Got the Medical Care Alert system for my dad, who's 89, healthy so far, and lives alone.

This was a horrible experience and I will try another medical alert system as this is not a luxury item but a necessity.
Description of Work: I bought this device for my mother who lives in Florida. I was very unhappy with the customer service of this company. The sales rep said they would call me back with information, they never did, and I had to constantly call them back. They did not seem interested in my satisfaction or my mother's. They were supposed to send a lock box in addition to the medical alert devices, it never came in the mail. When I requested it by phone to remind them, they said they would ship it, I still did not receive it, 10 days later. The GPS device did not work well in the house. The operators were not patient on the phone and were rude. When I used the device for a trial run, it took them over 10 minutes to call me back to make sure I was okay. I told them I wanted a refund, they didn't care. I am sending everything back. I called the company and they were supposed to send me postage labels and boxes. Only the boxes arrived, without the return labels. I am surprised this company won a Super Service Award, they do not deserve it! Shame on them for not following through on anything they promised.

I was concerned that my father (83) who lives alone would not use this but one night he was having chest pains and pushed his button on the transmitter he wore around his neck. A dispatcher/paramedic answered his call , after talking with my father he dispatched an ambulance and stayed talking with my dad till help arrived, This was very comforting to my father. The paramedic then called me and left a very in depth message (as I was at work). My brother was the next emergency contact and was promptly called. This situation was handled to a tee. My father also has set of his alarm by accident a few times and the responder has always been very professional and kind, I have had nothing but good contacts so far with this company. I almost forgot, when I received my package initially, I was sent a key box that didn't work. I called and they sent me a new one in two days time.
Description of Work: I got this for my father who is living alone and is 83 yrs. old. I called and was given all the information up front, no hidden cost. The person I spoke with helped me choose the correct package deal as I would have chosen the wrong one initally. Also given 30 day money back if not what I wanted.

They are so reasonably priced. Less than a dollar a day. It would cost more than that to have someone stop in and check on her every day and then that is only for the few minutes that they are there. This is coverage 24 hours a day. Since mom uses a walker she is a little unsteady on her feet and so we worry about her falling and then not being able to get up. This device and service eliminates that concern from our lives.
Description of Work: We are currently using this service for my mother who still wants to live independantly but is not as mobile as she should be, as she uses a walker. We see her almost everyday, but we are not there 24/hours a day yet this makes us feel like she has someone looking in on her all the time without being too intrusive into her life. This is the same service we used a few years ago with my grandmother, back when she still lived alone, when she fell and broke her hip they called an ambulance and us. While we have not had to use the service with my mom thankfully, we are confident about them because they worked so well with my grandmother, When she used the service she had some dementia and occasionally hit the button by mistake and they we always so good and polite about that happening.

I talked to a woman who helped me very patiently. She seemed to know the product well. The working light on my unit was yellow. She said it should be green. We worked for some time plugging and unplugging the device in different wall outlets. I had to move the couch and a large wooden cabinet to do so. It was very tiring. No matter what I did the light remained yellow and did not turn green. Finally She decided we should go ahead and test the unit anyway. It worked. I was very disappointed that she had me do all that work for nothing. But in the end, she was very helpful and polite and we did get it working and I believe it was just one of those things that randomly happen. It is working and I am very pleased with the price which is about half what the local hospital here charges for the same services. Time will tell if the savings is worth it. I am still pleased with the service. They furnished me 2 call buttons and 2 cords to wear as a necklace and one wrist band to wear on my wrist if I so choose. The local service here charges $10 a month for one emergency button. I have 2 for no extra charge.
Description of Work: Received monitor in the mail and set it up myself. Had some problems getting it working so called customer service. I did not have a home appointment, just help from customer service over the phone.

The equipment was shipped immediately and I received it in 2 days. Instructions were straight forward. Connected main unit to phone line and plug into ac outlet. Batteries were already charged. Performed a test of the remote pendant. It took about 45 seconds for the test call to be answered. The representative that answered was very polite and verified my mother was ok by asking a few simple questions. Voice quality was very clear and loud. The pendant can be clipped to my mothers clothing or connected to a holder that she can wear as a bracelet or wore around neck with a lanyard. All in all ,it was a very good experience with this company. Would highly recommend them. Just remember to perform a test call with the company once a month to ensure operation and to make your loved one get in the habit of using the pendent. The company will not contact you to follow up to verify operation.
Description of Work: I needed a medical alert system for my 93 year old mother who is recovering from a heart attack. After researching all the companies available I chose Medical Care Alert Systems. The company seemed to have the most up to date technology and offered a portable pendant that allowed my mother to be able to communicate through that pendant rather then communicating across the room to the main console. The representatives were very knowledgable about their products and took the time to explain my options in selecting the correct equipment for my needs. The initial conversation with the representative included answering all my questions ,taking my order,explaining the entire process of operation and connection of unit took only about 20 minutes over the phone. The salesperson Lainie was very patient , courteous and professional.

We had decided we needed an item like this after moving back home. several years ago, she had a bad fall and broke her wrist which made her unable to use her walker so she had to move to a nursing home. No matter what the cost of this system is, no way is it more than nursing care! Of course, keeping Mom home and safe is the important thing. My peace of mind is no small thing either! If there is anything to be improved upon, I would say the style of the pendant and bracelet. They are not uncomfortable, but I do not see why they can't be thinner, less bulky? I highly recommend this system. It has been in place for a year without any issues.
Description of Work: This is the system my mother has (so I do not know the cost). Mom did the research and set the appointment with them, they came to her home and hooked everything up. They showed her how to use it and tested the equipment to be sure all was working as it should. It comes with a base unit that requires a landline phone jack, a necklace pendant and a bracelet. Mom keeps either the pendant or bracelet on her each day. At night, she has the pedant on her bedside table and the bracelet on her walker so it is there if she needs it.
