They sent the system along with instructions for hooking it up to the phone line, for using it, for testing. They have been available by phone for questions, additional equipment, etc. Sales and Customer Service Reps have been pleasant and helpful.

Absolutely no problems except on our end trying to make sure grandparents use the device when needed. Also with keeping the battery charged, which again, is a problem with use and not service. But Medical Care Alert always sends reminder emails about the battery.
Description of Work: Medical Care Alert provides an in home monitoring system for my grandparents. It includes a remote that can be worn as a necklace around my grandmother's neck, and an emergency button that has been placed in their bathroom in case of falls.

The service is fair. I like the ability for them to be notified when there is a fall without having to get in touch with them. The biggest downfall is they are not able to use the provider in the area that is most reliable. They are tied into one provider and in my area that provider is extremely poor.

We were disappointed that when we activated it, it took the person at least 2 minutes to answer the phone and then they put her on hold and never came back. The fire truck showed up in about 5 minutes which was too long.

I wanted to get a system for my sister who is now living alone after her husband passed away. Got the basic system so she can push the button if she has any issues or needs help. Pretty easy - found them on line and called in to get prices. They sent the system and it just plugs into the phone line and its all set. Fast response time. I like they are a Michigan company. Would use again.

Unfortunately, things haven't gone as well as I'd hoped. Specifically, we've had customer service issues, and the company doesn't follow up or check in on my father like other companies that we've used. Ultimately, it seems like they're doing the bare minimum.

Initial interaction was positive. The Reps were thorough and pleasant. System arrived when promised and was easy to set up....until the live test. We initiated the live test as arranged but instead of being connected to an operator, we heard a recording announcing it was rerouting the call and this happened multiple times with long pauses in between. We didn't know if we should hold on or hang up! After several minutes of this we did finally reach an operator. The live test was completed and we were assured that the system was active and functioning properly. When I asked if all the rerouting was normal, the operator said he didn't know and that I would have to ask a Systems person. Then today I completed a survey at Medical Care Alert's request and I mentioned the difficulty in getting an operator during the live test. Medical Care Alert called me to discuss the problem. However, as our records show, I work during the day and cannot take calls unless it is an emergency so the caller left a voice mail leaving her name and number (877-913-3680). After work I called the number. It rang more than 20 times. I hung up and redialed. Again it rang more than 20 times but I held on, got a recording and was then put on hold. When I finally got connected to a person, he told me I had not called the right number and that I needed to call 248-946-8557. It would have been nice if he could have just transferred me. I hung up and called the new number....yep....which rang more than 20 times and was again put on hold. This time I got a young lady who said I had called the wrong number and I needed to call 877-913-3680. The first number I called!!! When I explained that I had called that number and they sent me to this new number, she said she would connect me with someone who could help and put me on hold. I was on hold for 10-12 minutes and finally hung up. And while all this was going on, someone else from Medical Care Alert called to discuss the problem and left me another voicemail telling me to call the 877 number. Now we are left wondering.....if they can't get their act together as far as service calls....how can we know they will react quickly and appropriately in an emergency?

Thank you for your detailed feedback - we really appreciate it! The two numbers you called are for our Customer Service team, and we are looking into why you experienced so many rings. In the event a Customer Service team member is unavailable at the time you call, your call will normally route to our non-emergency monitoring center agents or to a Customer Service voice mail box. Clearly that did not happen on this day, and we will find out why. Please note this is different from what happens in an emergency when you press your button. There are multiple levels of redundancy to make sure your call goes through and is answered by one of our EMT Certified LifeSafety Operators. Your Medical Alert System is programmed with two different numbers to dial our emergency response centers (in NY and CA), and your call will be dynamically routed to the center with the most available LIfeSafety Operators to answer your call. "Actual Alarm" emergency calls have the highest priority and are answered right away. Please let us know if you have any questions, and please test your system weekly. Thanks! Bryan

We've had them for years. They're very good. It's peace of mind for us. Their prices are competitive. I researched more than one company. The salesperson was just wonderful. They've never had any issues with it working.

It's affordable. The testing is a little bit awkward. They seem a slight bit bothered by the fact that we were just testing it. Otherwise, they're polite.

It worked out very well. It is ongoing. I think it is $380 a year. I give them a B because the only problem I had with them is because I had a problem and they said I needed to call this number and they weren't very helpful. If it would have been a medical emergency it wouldn't have been good at all. They are pretty competitive with there price.

Everything has gone good so far with the service. All I know is what she has told me and she likes them. I was told the button got pushed by accident and they called my husband and where happy to know it works.

We ended up not using the service because the person we wanted to use the button for refused to wear it. However we were pleased that we could return it easily. The Angie's price was very much in line with other competitors and The kit included everything. Not just a button but a receiver and microphone and lockbox.

It went well. I wear the necklace and the equipment they sent was very easy to set it up. Once a week I change the batteries and there is voice that tells me that the batteries are active and if I press the button they will call me back. I accidentally pushed the button once when I leaned against the sink and they came on and I said that it?s working. I paid a year and we saved 27% from Angie?s List recommendation and I think it is going to be fine. If anything happens all I have to do is push the button and they will come. They told me that when I feel that something is not right or if there is an emergency like a fire in the house, I can also push the button and they will notify the fire department or the police. They are excellent. I have no complaints. They are very professional. I was able to talk to someone else but it was difficult to even get in touch with them that is why I didn't go with them. They gave me annual which I read. I can call them anytime if I have a problem. I called them once to say that I will be on vacation and they suspended the services for the period that I was gone. I will definitely recommend them.
Description of Work: I used the big deal of Medical Care Alert. They just sent it through mail and there were no installation at all because all I had to do is put the battery and take the battery out of the main component which is the equipment and then take the battery out to be charged. Then put it on the necklace which I wear, the little compartment, and it activates right away. There is no installation involved other than plug it to the wall. Last Sunday I changed the battery and the battery said that it works and it is activated.

My parents are resistant to new things and to strange people in their house. But by telephone, they managed to complete the testing and placing of the device quite smoothly. Great service working with difficult customers!
Description of Work: We were worried about our parents continuing to live on their own into their upper 80s. I communicated with the company by phone a number of times setting up the installation.

I chose the Medical Care Alert company based on the reviews that said they were very responsive and that they would arrange for cost free return of the equipment and cancellation of the contract if it did not work for the customer. Well that is definitely not what my brother found to be the case. My brother looked at their website info, called and talked to the sales person and settled on a year's contract for the GPS system. When the equipment came he realized that it was not going to work for our mother because it needed to be in a charging stand when at home and then she had to remember to put it into her handbag every time she left the house. He called to cancel the contract and was on hold for 20 minutes before speaking to a customer service person. They would not hear of cancelling but kept trying to give him a better deal. When he asked to speak to a supervisor, they hung up on him. He called again and again waited 20 minutes to speak to customer service. Again he was given a hard sales pitch for a better deal. When he asked to speak to the manager, he was put on hold again, and then, when they said they were transferring him to the manager, he was disconnected. He called again, this time to the billing department. He finally got someone who said they would help and would reverse the charge on Mom's credit card. They also told him that he had only 15 days from when they received the equipment to send it back or Mom would be charged for 3 months use. This information is not on their website or in their contract and was never mentioned by any of the sales or customer service persons. They did not offer to pay the cost of sending the equipment back. Now our Mom is afraid to try any other service until she sees the charge removed from her credit card, so she is alone without protection for much longer than would otherwise be necessary.
Description of Work: My brother asked me to find a medical alert system that my mother could have with her at all times since she has been having small strokes.

Had it for almost two years, and never had to use it in an emergency, but tested it and that went fine. When I needed to end the contract because mom moved to assisted living, I was told to send everything back in the original packaging on my own expense and only then would I get a refund of unused months. Well, my mom had lost one of the monitors which is a cheap plastic transmitter, and they charged me enormously for it. Just BE AWARE you need to keep everything and send it back at your own expense and insured for $350.00. If you don't they will charge you $350.00. I spent $700.00 for this, and they were not even nice about it when I questioned it. Won't use them again.

However, representatives are very professional and were very attentive when we moved our mother and the system to another residence. Also, when the monitor started malfunctioning, they immediately sent a replacement.
