Dominic and his crew exceeded our expectations with their professionalism, courtesy, hard work & integrity. Each day, we were kept informed about the job progress and we really appreciated the daily phone calls, even on bad weather days. The quality of work completed by the crew was beautiful and they were very careful with the surrounding gardens and landscape. Our questions and concerns were always handled patiently and respectfully throughout this project, and we had many! Over the 30 plus years as home owners, we have endured many construction and remodeling projects, so we recognize a great business and highly recommend Dominic Palazzolo & Sons Cement!

Contractor poured cement when it was raining. I asked about this at the time and was told that it was not a problem because they would cover the new cement with plastic sheeting and rain was light. After the first winter (less than 6 months from date of work) driveway exhibited scaling and , cracking and chipping. My wife and I made numerous calls to contractor. None of which were never returned. Customer would have sued contractor, but for the fact that cost of litigation would be too expensive. Customer's wife did file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau; however never received a written response. Consumer's wife did a phone call from the BBB in which she was told that the contractor was denying liability because of certain disclaimes written in small print on the back of a contract printed on colored paper. Although, we do not beleive that any court would uphold such disclaimers, under both state and federal law, we did not pursue this matter further because of the cost of litigation. When selecting this contractor we did not chose either the highest or lowest bidder, but chose this contractor based upon certain representations and statements he made that led us to believe that he was knowledgeable in the field. I BELIEVE THAT THE MERE FACT THAT MR. PALAZZOLO REFUSED TO RETURN ANY OF OUR CALLS IS INDICATIVE OF THE FACT THAT HE NEW HE WAS WRONG, THAT HIS WORKMANSHIP TO NOT MEET ACCEPTABLE STANDARDS; OTHERWISE HE WOULD HAVE AT LEAST HAVE THE COURTESY TO RETURN OUR CALLS AND EXPLAIN HIS POSITION, RATHER THAN SIMPLY IGNORING A CUSTOMER WHO HAD PAID HIM THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS. I WOULD NEVER DO BUSINESS AGAIN WITH HIM OR RECOMMEND THAT ANYONE ELSE DO SO..

Response from Dominic Palazzolo & Son Cement
In response to Member's "complaint", Unfortunately, when situations occur the customer always seems to blame the contractor! We are knowledgable with over a 50 year combined experience, we have an exceptional track history with clients. Phone calls were returned and a representative was sent out, but customer did not like the answers they were given. Weather is unpredictable, we follow the forecast likes a religion, we purposely NEVER will pour concrete if there is a significant chance of rain. Unfortunately these situations may occur and we are prepared for unforecasted showers by keeping the correct materials to handle such an event. Concrete covered in time and correctly will have no effect on the integrity of the concrete. Our contract that ALL customers sign has many directives as to what we do and do not cover, as well as information about proper care and maintenance on the homeowners part when we leave the job. You do not need a microscope to read the print. We do not offer any warranty or guarantee of any kind, it is in BOLD print on the contract. We live in Michigan we cannot stop salt from being brought onto driveways from vehicles, we cannot stop customers from de-icing there driveways, we strongly suggest no use of such chemicals of salt, de-icing chemicals and also fertilizers, these all have chemicals that will react directly with the concrete surface, especially within the first year. People fail to investigate the products used around there home and the ill effects that will cause, even though they are labeled to look safe. Member claims this happened after the first winter season. Member while bashing our company fails to mention that he was injured in a car accident, which had left him at the time, somewhat physically impared. Member also failed to mention the garage floor in his statement, that is directly attached to driveway and leading into his home, that he has had no issues with. he also fails to mention we lowered he steps leading from garage floor into his home due to his imparement. Member also fails to mention in his complaint that his driveway is at a ridiculous incline from the road, which leads me to believe due to his condition, unknowingly he may have been doing harm to his driveway with de-icing chemicals for his own safety. We also did the front walk which again was not mentioned in the complaint and had no problems when the representative went out and looked at it. Everyone one of us is a consumer at some time, none of us like a product we pay for fails, I find customers become aggressive and attack our company personally, even if the liability falls onto themselves. They want to point the finger and hold someone else responsible. Our company is not responding to bash the Pollacks, we are responding to this because we were paid for a job that was well done, they were happy with our service, timeliness and employees. Our company left there property proud of the work we preformed, like we do with every project. We have an A+ rating with the BBB. The complaint was responded to and closed. The BBB received the entire contract, not just the invoice. They must have felt our contract was sufficient and not microscopic, because they did not find us at fault for any of the Members complaints, and we have an A+ rating with them to this date!
