We had Value Carpet install sheet linoleum in our kitchen area. Estimates were very timely and priced competitively. Plus, we like giving business to local companies. Scheduling much easier with them too. The installer came as scheduled and completed the job that day. It did take several hours longer than expected, but that was due entirely to the complexity of the layout of the area. He was meticulous in the cutting such that I do not even need to replace the quarter round molding if I don't want and there were A LOT of corners and cuts that had to be accounted for. They even worked around a built in desk/cabinet set in the kitchen area that has a post. I would have had to remove the counter and possibly replace it. I can't even see where the seam is unless I look very close. I did have a minor concern relative to the seam. The pattern does not match. Installer explained why. Followed up with Al at the store and he adjusted the price to compensate. I just would have liked to know before hand. All and all, extremely happy with the selection and the installation. It exceeded our expectations. Kind of nice for a change.

The experience with Value Carpet and More was an absolute nightmare. It started out as a simple transaction, and wound up causing us a great deal of inconvenience and hardship. We had to convince him the work was substandard, never mind that there were gouges in the floor and the finish had been applied after sanding without cleaning up the sawdust (I have photos to prove how horrific it was). There were workers who drank our alcohol (wine, vodka and whiskey) as well as our orange and cranberry juices, and it certainly looked as if the work was done by people who were drunk. We had furniture that is now ruined from improper moving, and we keep finding more damage. We had to spend time in a hotel (which Value Carpet paid for) when we should have been settling in from our recent move because the work was not done right the first time. The floors had to be refinished again (he used third-string subcontractors the first time) and we were told the nail holes would be filled in (they were not) and that the transition from the kitchen to the dining room would be finished (it was not). We had to convince Ali that the workmanship was poor -- he did not realize it until we showed him how terrible it was. He had the subcontractor to our home in the aftermath, and the subcontractor thought he had done a terrific job (!). We had to ask for several pieces of the vinyl to be re-installed because of shoddy installation and had to keep after the workers ourselves until it got done correctly. There were things that Value Carpet agreed to do and then did not. They disconnected our gas dryer in the basement in order to install the vinyl and failed to reconnect it. We used it, and the fumes from the gas were terrible. We are lucky that nothing caught fire. Value Carpet did bring someone out to reconnect it appropriately, but it should not have occurred in the first place. Here is a copy of the correspondence I sent to the owner and received no response in return: I'll be quite frank with you - given the inconvenience, danger and negligence (unvented gas dryer), damage and frustration we have experienced, I am quite unhappy to give you the full amount for the job. We are still finding damage to different furniture. It is because of [my husband] that you are getting the full amount. For whatever reason, we had to convince you that the initial job was grossly substandard and WE had to continually follow up with your installers to get the job done right. You agreed to fix the transition between the kitchen and dining room and then found that you couldn't do it. You agreed to remove the linoleum and then claimed that you didn't. At this point, we are glad to be done with the transaction, but I want to express my disappointment. As someone who was in retail management for nearly 20 years, I have a keen understanding of what should have happened here, and did not. I would suggest that consumers stay away from this company. In response to the provider's commentary: How DARE Value Carpet and More Flooring respond in this way! You want to talk photos? I would be delighted to post the photos of what was here when we walked in after you told us the floors looked beautiful. I've never in my life seen such shoddy work and for you to deny the workmen stealing the alcohol goes against everything you admitted when you were in my home. You have no right to discuss the and quot;conditionand quot; of my home, your company knowing full well he had only been in the house LESS THAN TWO WEEKS prior to you doing the work. In addition, you casting doubt on the scratches to the furniture also goes against everything you admitted to in our home. We were very clear on what were previous scratches and what were new. You are a disgrace to your profession.

Response from Value Carpet and Flooring
This letter is written in response to the Member complaint. Value Carpet and More have gone above and beyond the call of duty to please this customer. We asked the Member to move out of the house during this process for her and her family’s convenience and she agreed. We received the key for the property on Thursday. Upon arriving at the Member’s home, our first crew walked out from the job cite due to the fact that they are flooring installers, not a housekeeping service. There were dirty diapers and cups, toys, crayons, and books strewn throughout the house. The house was extremely unkempt (WE HAVE PICTURES). Cleaning the house was not part of our contract. My second crew was willing to do the job, by hiring more employees to move furniture and clean the house. A simple two hour job took up the whole day, which delayed the process of installation. As my grouped worked on the site I stopped by often and unannounced as I always do on any job I contract. Not once did I see or smell any alcohol on both of my crews. Both crews have been with my company for over 11 years, and I have NEVER heard these horrific accusations before. To make the Member’s happy, we paid for her and her family to stay in a hotel at a cost of $200.00 plus $160 for two days of food for the family (I've got receipts)so they would not occur any additional cost. Please keep in mind this was all done because she wasn't happy with the floors, so we refinished it again to make her a happy customer. The following morning the Member called again to complain about her dryer. Within half an hour of receiving her complaint, I arrived with the Heating and Cooling contractor, we checked the gas line on the dryer. We found an overwhelming amount of lint buildup inside the vent tubing. I explained to the Member that although this concern was not a problem of ours, that I paid the contractor $125 to clean up her lint( FORTUNATELY, I PREVENTED HER HOUSE FROM CATCHING ON FIRE). The Member also complained about her furniture being scratched. I went back to the house to asses the damages. Incidentally, they were not sure which scratches were accidentally done by us, due to the abundant amount of pre-existing scratches. To satisfy her, I called a furniture repair company, and had the damage taken care of, which the Member’s paid half the amount of (?). At Value Carpet and More, we strive on customer service. Unfortunately, I could not satisfy the mmeber. Every complaint was met and exceeded within the same day, but for every complaint we've met, the Member had something else to complain about. It was never-ending. I felt that there was nothing more I could do for the Member. In my 20 years of floor covering experience, I have NEVER had such a hard time finishing a simple job. On hindsight, I do admit one mistake: I should have walked out from the job with my installers on the first day (LESSON LEARNED) .

The guys at Value Carpet on 8 mile were great. I had looked at a few companies before deciding on using Value Carpet on a home in dearborn. I opted for better grade of carpet to be installed in the upper bedroom of a bungalow and down the staircase. I also had a more durable carpet installed down the stairs into the basement - on this house and another house I have in the area. When they arrived we noticed the wrong color carpet was cut for the basement stairs. They immediately went back to the wear house and exchanged the carpet and even thought the installer was now running later into the day - he stayed to finish the job quite late rather then rescheduling. The carpet looks good and the price was great!

Everything went well. I haven't seen the carpet yet because it's a rental, but the tenant says the carpet is ok (it's commercial grade to last).
Description of Work: They came in on budget and we scheduled a install with the tenant.

They were very accomadating, offering design suggestions. They were freindly and knowledgeable. I was impressed with the pride they took in their work. I will be using the company again in the near future.
Description of Work: I must admit I was a bit skeptical initially when my husband told me about the amazing showroom at Value Carpet & more. It was a tiny building and the outside does not do it justice. After going in and meeting with Ali, the salesperson and owner. I was impressed. I wanted carpeting done on my stairs and 2 landings, a small bedroom and my husband's mancave. The quality of the carpeting is excellent and the price was exceptional, as I have 18 large steps and the 2 landings are the size of small bedrooms. We paid $1300.00 with the removal of the old flooring and installation of the carpet. Two weeks later, we'd planned on retiling our 160+ sq. ft foyer. They removed the old tile and then installed a sub-floor, which was not there with the previous floor and then installed the new tile. It was beautifully done, the workers were so polite, timely and they also cleaned up each day when they were done. I was truly amazed. Ali even replaced my old, damaged shoe mouldings at no additional charge. I am so pleased with his company and I'm proud to recommend them. I will be using them again soon.
