Mike was the only contractor who would guarantee I would have no future ice dams if I followed his protocol. He just completed the project a few hours ago and my home is notably warmer. I had two other contractors out and neither of them walked upstairs to view the knee wall. His estimate was higher than the other two, but after speaking with Dave I knew the job would be done right.

I called SOL-CON and talked to Dave Mitchell. In short order, I realized I wasn't talking to a run-of-the-mill contractor. It was more like talking to a doctor trying to diagnose an illness. Questions about how the house behaved in winter and summer. Cold spots? Warm spots? Conditions causing excessive run times for furnaces and air conditioners? Dave was able to isolate root causes for the problems we were having and develop a comprehensive plan to address them. Looking back, I am stunned at how poorly the original builder insulated this house. Now, the problems have been solved and I'm not dreading those single-digit temperatures that have characterized Michigan winters over the past few years. My only regret is that I didn't do this five years ago.

I have 3450 sq ft home built in 1998. The master bedroom is upstairs and has always been uncomfortable when the temp gets above 80 degrees. The central air unit would not cool the house uniformly. The down stairs would be freezing and the upstairs would be hot. I thought my solution was going to be to add a second air conditioning unit but based on reviews I decided to give Dave a call and see what options were available. I was glad I did. Dave explained that my roof was not properly ventilate and lacked insulation. I was a little leery at first. When I had a new roof installed I went with ridge vents. Read a lot of info on vents. Dave directed me to new construction in high end subs in the $500K to $900k range, sure enough they were all using roof not ridge vents. Then I worried about mixing ridge and roof vents. Again, not a problem, if you know what you're doing. Do I spend the money with Dave, find out the master bedroom is still hot and then have the additional expense of the second air condition unit? Well I'm glad went with Dave. As luck would have it, after Dave installed the insulation and additional roof vents, it never got hot again. I had to wait to this latest round of + 80-degree weather to see what happens. Dave was correct, the temperature difference between the upstairs and downstairs is about 1 degree. As an added bonus our heating bill dropped dramatically. Sol Con is not a large company with sales managers and someone else doing the install. The person you talk to and does the install is Dave. He is very knowledgeable and passionate about his work. Yes, you may have to work with Dave on scheduling, but it is well worth it. Thank you, Dave, for providing us with cool nights sleep!

Dave and his assistant Blake did above and beyond what I expected. Dave did a great job explaining what we needed and how it was to be done. They were very neat and showed up when they said they would. The job was done exactly when they said it would be. Another plus for us was that we were able to use our charge card!

My problem was not only did we need insulation, but we also had major raccoon damage, and From the start Dave was quite knowledgeable about solving our problems. He's honest, hardworking and truly cares about his customers. We were very pleased with the quality of his work, and I would most definitely recommend Sol-Con to anyone looking to install or upgrade their blown-in insulation.

We needed to do something because of the ice dams that formed on our roof last winter. Dave was very professional, he inspected our attic and explained his recommendations, which included additional roof vents and a bathroom vent, The product he uses is earth friendly and seems top notch. They were in and out of our house in no time. I'm happy we hired Sol-Con. I can't wait to see how this affects our heating bills this winter!

I Dave and his crew did a great job. they were neat and clean. I hired hime to do insulation but he ended up doing much more with proper roof nents, vented my bathrooms vents and he also redid dyer vent to another location in order to have it away from roof events. Dave was very professionl and honest. the only thing was I had him out three times and all three times he was about an hour to an hour and half late.It was no big thing because I had no place to go.
