Heatcraft Heating & Cooling

Tom from HeatCraft was punctual, clean, courteous and did a great job. He helped us understand the problem was that our AC was very old and the repair was not going to be cost effective. He found a great energy efficient replacement at a price we could afford. The work was done quickly and we were without AC for only 1 day. I would recommend Tom and HeatCraft for any HVAC job. They were great.

I called this company because I like to give business to small, local businesses. This turned out to be a mistake , costly to me and a hassle. I called originally because my hot water pilot was out. Bob Lindquist, the owner, came by and relit the pilot for a $100. I told him that it seemed coincidental that the chimney to which the heater was vented had just be rebuilt but he didn't react to this. Within a matter of hours the pilot went out again and I relit myself; after it continued to go out , I called Bob and he said the H/W htr would have to be replaced. When his workers came to do this , a brief check by them showed that the heater wasn't the problem -- instead the chimney vent was blocked by debris left from the chimney rebuilders. This was a dangerous situation because both the furnace and heater would have been returning carbonmonoxide into the basement and not up the chimney. The Heatcraft guys took ten min's to clear the debris from the bottom of the chimney and I haven't had a problem with the pilot or the h/w htr since. So: and gt;and gt;and gt; Bob didn't diagnose a dangerous situation on the first visit. and gt;and gt;and gt; He sent his guys to install a h/w htr that I didn't need and which would not have solved the real problem. and gt;and gt;and gt; Instead of owning up to his original diagnostic error, he continued to bother me later with phone msgs , trying to say that the chimney vent was clear when he first visited and that the chimney rebuilders must have disturbed it after he left. I told him this was impossible since they were finished, removed the scaffolding and paid before he first visited. and gt;and gt;and gt; He wanted to charge me $275 for his workman's time even though it was his mistake that brought them to my house and they actually only spent and lt; 45 min's here. and gt;and gt;and gt; Bob is difficult to get ahold if there are issues like these. He doesn't allow customers to call his cell; you have to call an answering svc which painstakenly takes down all of your info and then Bob calls you back. This whole encounter with Heatcraft was an aggravastion.

Went well. Company always performs efficiently. And accurately.

They came in to check for an air conditioning problem when our air conditioner went out on the hottest day of the month. The unit worked smoothly in the beginning, but stopped again. They came back again and said we had a cracked pan. They fixed it again, but they said we'll still have a problem. They were contracted to put in a new unit. They said they would come same day to do the installation. They came the first day and removed the old unit, but said they would have come the next day to install it, which was bad for us. I think they should have shown us the problem instead of just telling us about it so we really know what is going on.

They provided great service and follow-up on the work they did. They called us several times to try to fit in our service call, called to state that they might be late, and then did come.
