Estimate was ridiculously high compared to others received. The sales rep had a long phone call with his and quot;bossand quot; to see what he could do about the high-priced estimate that I was surprised to get. He came back with a huge slash in price, but it was not good enough. The quality of the carpet was the worst I have seen, and I would not have been happy to pay more than Lowe's pricing with poorer quality.

They did a good job. The only thing that I had it fault with them and it turned out to be a lifesaver is that they measure high. They gave me way too much carpet which turned out to be wonderful because I ended up having them replace part of it because I have a dog. They did a flying job on the carpet.

Terrible! Too complicated to re-live by posting here, but very poor craftmanship in terms of molding installation and customer service in the main office in Detroit. My salesperson was fine, she felt terrible, but could not get me the help I needed to resolve damage done to molding, and floor, they should stick to carpet. They are no less expensive than anyone else, I had other quotes, so don't think you are getting a deal, it is all the same in the end.

I ALWAYS SEE EMPIRE ON TV AND SINCE I WANTED CARPET INSTALLED RIGHT AWAY FOR AN UP COMING EVENT, I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE MY BEST CHOICE. THE MAN THAT CAME OUT WAS PROFESSIONAL, A LITTLE PUSHY, BUT OVERALL NICE. HE FIRST QUOTED ME A 3500 DOLLAR QUOTE TO CARPET MY BASEMENT, (ABOUT 860SQFT AND VERY CLEAN) I TOLD HIM THAT WAS VERY HIGH AND MORE THAN WHAT I EXPECTED. SO HE GOT ON THE PHONE WITH SOMEONE AND CAME BACK WITH 2119.00 DOLLARS. WOW WHAT A DROP. I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT WAS THAT MUCH CHEAPER, WHY? FOR BEING SO COMPETITIVE YOU SHOULD DO BETTER WITH THE FIRST QUOTE. TO ME THROWING A HIGH NUMBER OUT THERE AND HOPING SOME SUCKER WILL BITE IS AN INSULT, AND THEN TO DROP IT ALMOST 1500 DOLLARS WAS NUTS. BUT I DECIDED I WOULD HAVE THEM INSTALL THE CARPET. NOW I PLACED THE ORDER ON WEDNESDAY AND SCHEDULED THE INSTALLATION FOR FRIDAY. THEY TRIED CALLING ME ON THURSDAY AND BECAUSE I DIDN'T ANSWER, THEY DECIDED NOT TO SHOW UP FRIDAY MORNING LIKE SCHEDULED. I WAS VERY UPSET AND I CALLED THE 800 NUMBER WHICH THE PERSON I SPOKE WITH WAS RUDE TOLD ME THAT I SHOULD HAVE ANSWERED MY PHONE AND THAT THEY WOULD JUST RESCHEDULE ME. WELL THAT WASN'T GOING TO WORK BECAUSE LIKE I SAID I HAD A WEDDING SHOWER GOING ON AT MY HOME THE NEXT DAY! SO I CALLED THE MAN WHO SOLD ME THE CARPET, HE CALLED HIS GM AND APOLOGIZED, TOLD ME THAT IT WOULD BE OUT THERE THAT THEY WOULD CALL ME SOON. HOURS LATER THE INSTALLERS FINELY CALLED ME AND SAID THEY WOULD BE OUT SHORTLY. SOON THEY STARTED CALLING MY PHONE OVER AND OVER BECAUSE THEY WERE LOST AND I HAD TO GIVE THEM DIRECTIONS. IT DID NOT HELP THAT THEIR ENGLISH WAS VERY POOR AND I COULDN'T UNDERSTAND THEM. WHEN THEY FINALLY SHOWED UP AT THE HOUSE, MY HUSBAND LET THEM IN THE BACK (TO THE BASEMENT). AS THEY STARTED TO BRING IN THE CARPET, THEY WERE THROWING IT DOWN MY BASEMENT STAIRS. MY HUSBAND HAD TO RUN OUT AND TELL THEM and quot;I WOULD APPRECIATE YOU NOT DOING THAT.and quot; SO NOW INSTEAD THEY STARTED TO BRING IN THE CARPET AROUND THE CORNER AS THEY CAME IN THE BACKDOOR, REMOVING THE PAINT OFF OF MY MOLDINGS OF THE BACK DOOR. I HAVE PICTURES OF THE PILE OF PAINT LEFT BEHIND. NOW WHAT I WAS TOLD WOULD ONLY TAKE A COUPLE OF HOURS TOOK MORE THAN THREE. THE MEN KEPT USING THE BATHROOM AT THE TOP OF MY STAIRS SLAMMING THE DOORS (BACK DOOR AND BATHROOM DOOR) INTO EACH OTHER. THEN BECAUSE THEY TOOK SO LONG MY HUSBAND HAD TO LEAVE FOR WORK AND MY MOTHER STAYED AT MY HOUSE, WHERE THEY MADE HER FEEL EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE BECAUSE THE MEN SPOKE LOUDLY IN A FOREIGN LANGUAGE THE ENTIRE TIME. appearance was very nice. but only 3 years later (8/12) there is so much water between the liner and tub that it feels like a water bed, and is spilling out onto the floor! I called Empire on aug 28, they were to call back in 1 -3 days. they did not call lback. I called again Aug 28 - they claimed that they had 1 wrong number, and the other number I had given them blocked unknown callers, so I again gave them 2 phone numbers to call me on. Again , no callback. I had to call again on Sept 4, explained the issue, and finally got a call back that day. and guess what - after all this, I was told that they don't do this anymore, and furthermore, their work was only guaranteed for 1 year!! I waited all this time to hear this, with water spilling onto the floor, have spent $2600 of our hard-earned money, and now this. After only 3 years of light use, we have a repair estimate ( from another company) for $225!

This was a first class service experience from start to finish. Our salesman Eric was very helpful, He even made a second trip to our home to verify that our selection was good after we had our counter tops installed. The installers were exceptional. Brant and Will arrived early and worked straight through the day to complete our job. They were very organized and went out of their way to ensure everything was done to our satisfaction. After I told them that I had recently had back surgery, they would not let me lift a finger to move anything. When we have our house re-carpeted later this year, I will ask for this install team again. My hats off to the entire Empire team that help with this project.

Quote process went as expected. They were on time and explained the products. I had Empire out the year before for a quote, and the "buy now pricing" process was in effect, but this quote was fair and seemed reasonable. Carpet seemed of a lower quality than competitors, but I think that is was actually the age/condition of the carpet samples. For a company that does all of the furniture moving, price was competitive. We went with a lower quoted local business.

They did an excellent job and cleaned up after themselves. There was no fuss, no muss! They were even 10 minutes early. They moved my furniture for me and ndash; some of it was very heavy! Everyone who comes to my house says and ldquo;Wow I really love your floor!and rdquo; They left me extra flooring in case I had a problem or needed to replace anything too! You pay for the materials but labor is free so the extra laminate was great because I won't have to pay labor for repairs! The job ended up being bigger than expected - They brought in an extra worker to finish the job and didn't even charge extra.

To start he came late, but that was the least of it. During our initial talk about what he offered he answered his phone twice for 3-5 minute calls and didn't seem apologetic about it. Finally he measured 100 sq ft more than every other estimate I received. He only showed us 3 wood color options and said the other ones are "very expensive." Did his sales pitch of "normally I only discount 10% but for you I'm doing 25%......" Then he told me for his 400 sq ft of space (312 with everyone else) it would be 3200 for laminate (Over $10 a sq ft for laminate?) . When I told him that was significantly higher than anybody else, he said all their laminate was garbage and became agitated and we were done with him at that point.

I was given various quotes by competitive carpet salesmen. Except Empire was high priced. I mentioned this to my Empire salesman and my quote dropped $500. on the spot. Why not be competitive to begin with?? O.k. so he could install the next day. Good! I have an upcoming social event and would like to make my house more presentable. I decided to go with Empire. I was expecting installation to be today or tomorrow and had been waiting for the salesman to contact me to confirm . I called him yesterday hoping to get such confirmation. He texted me back that he is no longer employed by Empire and gave me a managers name and phone number. I called and left a message. No response. I texted him, no response. I went elsewhere! Very disappointed!

Overall the expierence was great. Jeff was the salesman and he came originally to give us a quote. While he was measuring the spaces, my husband and I were looking at different carpet samples. Jeff was very knowledgable in the different types of carpet and even steered us away from some of the berbers that would not stand up very well. The original price that he gave us was very high so don't be afraid to negotiate...in fact it is a must! We actually ended up with a price that I was originally concerned that may be too good to be true, but now that we have had part of the installation performed, I am extremely happy with. We still have the second install of the basement and living room but I don't anticipate there being any problems. I was surprised though that it wasn't empire employees that installed the carpet; in fact it was a carpet company out of Dearborn that did the install. Either way, they did a great job and cleaned up after they were done working.

I am extremely disappointed with how this went. The sales rep that came over showed us all the samples they had...which were very little, and we pick the one we liked the most. He then went and took measurements of where they would be installing the new carpet. After that we went and sat down so he could run the numbers. The first quote was for around $5,300.00 and he said he would give us 35% off bring it down to around $3,400.00 I thought great! But this was just are first quote. He told us that they would do 18 month 0% financing but had to sign today. I told him we are paying cash but this was just are first estimate we had gotten and I did not want to sign today. He then asked me how much I was thinking it would cost. I told him 2-3K. He then ran the numbers again and said he could drop the price to around $2,900.00. Again great! But I told him I do not like to go with my first quote. This is where it got even weirder. He just sat there and told me that he had sold on his two other quotes and that he can't give me any paper quote so that I can compare. After that he was out of our home in less then a minute. I understand they need to make money and it's a business but wow! Thats all it was... he only wanted the sale. Very unprofessional, and very little selection. I will not be calling back. The problems started during the install...The installers were late and told one story to my wife and gave me a different reason as to where they were and why they would be late. When I checked in on the progress, I found that the installers were attempting to piece together the family room (11 x 16) with three pieces of carpet. I did not confront the installers, but called Empire directly and talked to the customer service folks who put me in touch with a 'manager'. He agreed that they should not be doing that since the carpet is twelve feet wide. The installer said they did it so the texture of the carpet would be the same in the family room as in the adjacent dining area. In theory that is plausible, except there is a step down and a set of french doors between the rooms and with a monotone plush carpet, the slight variance would not matter. The carpet seam for the pieces was just off center of the opening for the french doors. The living room is large enough that they had to seam the carpet and they did put the seam in the best location. However, the seam was very obvious and when we pointed it out, we were told that it would flatten out as the carpet relaxed. This has not happened. Empire did come out and replaced the carpet in the family room and the second crew was much more professional than the first crew that installed the carpet. While they were there, they did attempt to fix the bad seam in the living room by stretching the carpet and trimming the height of the carpet at the seam. They also worked on the seam in the doorway to the hallway by the bedrooms. Once again, it has not corrected the problem and the seam in the doorway to the hallway by the bedrooms has spread and is now very obvious. We once again complained to Empire and they sent a 'carpet inspector' out to investigate our complaint. The inspector did come out and looked at the carpet and talked to us about our concerns. The inspector did a comprehensive review (my opinion, but I am not an expert) and told us he would send his report to Empire. Two weeks went by and we had not heard anything from Empire and to make matters worse, a new seam issue made itself known. There is a seam in front of one of the bedrooms that is separating. This prompted another call to Empire where we got voicemail again and left a message stating our displeasure and requesting that they fix the problem replace the carpet or remove it and refund our money. A week later and we still have not gotten a response from Empire...we contacted the 'Carpet Inspector' but he would not give us the results of the inspection as it had been paid for by Empire. I must admit, that I was not surprised that was the case. On 12/30/2010, we contacted Empire's corporate office and opened a complaint telling them we have been unable to get in contact with or get a response from the people handling the Michigan area. We were given a complaint number and told we would get a call back within 24 hours. Given the next day was New Year's Eve, I as doubtful that we would receive a call and I was not disappointed. As of 1:00 p.m. on 01/03/2011 there has been no call from anyone at Empire. 1/14/2011 update, after the New Year holiday we did hear from Empire Today and we were given the name and number of the head installer who would come and also look at the carpet fiasco. I talked to him on Monday (01/10/2011) to set up a schedule for him to come to the house at a time that would not require my wife or I to take any more time off of work. He said he would check his appointments for the week and get back to me when he would be in the area. It is now Friday and we have not heard back from him and no appointment to come check out the carpet has been made. During this time, a new seam showed itself in front of one of the bedroom doors which makes for a hallway installation that is at least three pieces of carpet. To recap the installation, they put two pieces of carpet in the main living/dining room area as expected. They used three pieces of carpet to finish an 11 x 16 family room, which they have since replaced with a single piece of carpet. The hallway outside the bedrooms which is roughly 3 x 20 was pieced together with three pieces of carpet. The smallest piece (8" x 36") in front of the bedroom door.

Great, wonderful, nice people and Installers. They were here about 6 hours but they cleaned up very nicely before they left and hauled away everything. They really do move everything and put it back exactly where you want. I liked the quick service and yes...it is a little more in cost but it was worth it! Who wants to move furniture, tear up old carpet, haul it away, etc. They were good and I like the carpet.

The sales representative who came to our home figured out exactly what we wanted and recommended a selection of carpets. As between two similarly priced carpets, she recommended that we buy the thicker one, and we followed her advice. The installers, however, said that the carpet was really too thick for the installation we wanted. We asked them to do the best they could, and everything looks okay so far.

Sales rep called and came on time. Gave me an outrageous estimate. Told me the floor had a 25-year warranty. His company would not move the stove - that was my responsibility. I told him I would think about it. The company kept calling me to try and get me to buy the flooring. After about 2 weeks of high-pressure calling, the company offered to reduce the cost of the flooring by $1,000. It was still too high but at that point I felt I was being ripped off in the beginning if they could reduce it by that much. Someone has to pay for all those "Empire Today" commericials - I guess its the sucker customers.
