Salesman was very rude. Cocky, arrogant and unprofessional. Basically came in and told us all other carpet places were crap, and that they were the best. There's a difference between being confident in your product and being rude about it all. Never once did he show us a breakdown of fees or really show us any prices. Just told us that it was going to be this price. Not great carpet selection either. Don't think I'll ever call Empire again. This sales guy ruined for me.
Description of Work: Had a salesman come out to measure a bedroom and show us carpet samples for the room.

Empire is the biggest scam next to the Kirby door to door salesman! They charge 5 times more than any other company, deliberately over measure the room sizes, refuse to provide a written estimate and they use 3rd party installers, not their own and pressure homeowners to accept overpriced bids. Their so called price match guarantee is a joke, they can't come close to meeting any competitor's bid. Warning: They will demand a hefty $200 or more deposit after they present you with the highest estimate in the industry. AVOID them at all costs! Per Empire's response: There is no resolution, I already had my carpets replaced at 75% lower through a quality installer. There are hundreds of bad reviews for Empire from outrageous overpricing to bad installation and more. Jeanette Ramey, National Customer Service Manager certainly has her hands full trying to cover up Empire's scam operation.

Salesman was very knowledgeable and helpful. Measured everything and quoted us for multiple styles and types of carpet. We finally settled on a hard-wearing grass-style in Cocoa. We arranged for installation the next day. Next morning, the installers called, and apologized, but said that the weather was borderline for doing the job properly (55F) as the glue might not set properly. They recommended waiting until Friday to have the work done, as it was expected to get into the mid to high 60s which would make the glue cure quicker, and ensure that any seams in the final installation were properly hidden. Installers came on the Friday afternoon as promised, had me verify the new carpet was what we expected and then proceeded to remove all the old carpet, and cleaned and prepped the surface prior to installing the new carpet. Once complete, they tidied everything up, had me inspect the job and pointed out some care items for the next few days to ensure everything setup and cured properly. They were done in about 2 hours start to finish. The new carpet looks great, the seam is invisible, and we are very happy with the job.
Description of Work: Remove existing carpet from 20'x25' Florida Room. Prep underlying deck surface. Apply adhesive and lay new Cocoa Grass-Style exterior carpeting. Clean up and haul away all debris.

We have used Empire Today on several occasions at our house. They have carpeted our basement twice (due to flooding). The second time, they gave us a significant break on price, since we had so recently gotten new carpet from them. We most recently used them to put a wood floor into our master bedroom, and then to repair it when we had water damage there too. Every time, our dealings with them have been efficient and professional. Installation is always done well and promptly. I see many negative reviews of their services on the web, but we have never had one. They deliver a good value.
Description of Work: Repaired a small area (about 100 sq ft) of manufactured wood flooring that had been damaged by water.

Installation went absolutely awesome!! Installers were very professional and courteous. Knew what they were doing from start to finish! Couldn't ask for anything better!! Quality of the carpet is wonderful!! Overall, we were extremely proud of the job Empire Today did! Love the new carpeting! We will definitely use them again in the future.

Very nice and polite salesman. However, company sales tactics were a bit too and quot;pressuredand quot;. (Especially when ordering $10,000+ in carpeting) We were pressured to make a commitment right then and there. Gave a $20.00 deposit, (instead of the standard $100/$200 deposit) We were given 72 hours to cancel our order. We decided to go with another carpet supplier, within the 72 hours. Empire did refund our initial $20.00, deposit. No problems there. Again, sales tactics were a bit pressured. Pricing and quot;appearedand quot; to be: too good to be true. Definitely low and competitive. But, this made us question the and quot;qualityand quot; of the carpet and the accuracy of the pricing / salesman's ability to and quot;cutand quot; the price so drastically.

Empire called the day before to confirm apt. Installers call to inform me they were on there way. From here on things went down hill. After the new carpet was installed I noticed a molding around the a closet was damaged from the carpet installation. Next a day or two after the installation, the carpet started separating and a seam became very noticeable. Call to complain about poor quality of work. Called sales rep, left massage about damaged molding and poor installation. She did not return call. Next called and asked for a manager. Was told an Empire rep would come to my house and inspect work. No one ever came by. Called 800 number again and asked for a manager. Was told Empire's General Manager would call me by end of that day. He never called either. Next the manager of customer complaints department call to see if issues resolved. Explained molding was still damaged and carpet was still coming apart. I told them at this point to postpone kitchen floor installation since I was concerned about the quality of their installation. Several days later two carpet installers came to fix the seam and the area where the carpet began to fray. Next Empire told me purchase a molding and stain and they would cover the cost. Next they sent out someone to replace the molding. The company that replaced the molding was also a floor installers sub-contractor. Was impressed with his professionalism and quality of work. Called Empire and requested his company for floor installation. Kitchen floor went in without any hitches. Basically the kitchen floor installation saved the total Empire experience. My poor marks are a reflection of carpet installation and the number of Empire managers that do not return phone calls. I would not refer this company or use them again for future work.
Description of Work: Call for a quote on new carpet for a bedroom and new kitchen floor. Sales rep came to house with different samples. Picket out what I liked and received quote. Price Empire's price was approx $400 higher than other quote for basically same products. Told sales rep that. She tried explaining their was superior than my other quote. She asked if we could get closer on price, if I would sign with them. She called boss and garnered to match price. I also asked rep if Empire has their own installers or sub-contract them. Was told Empire has their own installers. This is not the case, sub-contractors were sent to install. Once I signed paperwork, they provided installation dates. Carpet was installed first and kitchen floor later.

It went terribly wrong. I had an in-home appointment with Empire Carpet on 3-19-14. The rudest salesperson I have ever met in my life came to my home. He started right in with and quot;when do you want the carpet installedand quot;, without showing me anything. I asked him to write an estimate for me to carpet my living room. He refused, he gave me a verbal quote and told me that he didn't get paid to write estimates, he gets paid to sell carpet. He told me that the appointment was a waste of his time and his gas. I needed a written estimate for my insurance company and he refused to write one. Furthermore, he did not even mention any of the specials that Empire had (buy 1 room, get 2 free), even though the television commercial was running on my TV at the time!!! This was a complete waste of my time and it was very insulting to have a representive from a company I attempted to do business with come to my home and not do his job and insult me as well. I contacted Empire online on 3-20-14 regarding this, and I have not heard from anyone there as of yet and today is 3-21-14. Stay away from Empire carpet!!!!

The sales person was pleasant and was able to entertain our various needs, yet still focus us down on important matters and decision points. I was never too convinced on pricing because the sales pitch forces your behavior a bit; but, I knew this going in. I needed carpet ASAP and Empire Today was able to do just that, while making us feel like we looked at many colors/styles. Installation was done the next day for the vinyl tile and the following day for the carpet, which is the quickest timeframe they can offer due to the tile/carpet combo. I received a follow up call from the sales person to check on the final product; I did not return the call because I was satisfied and moving on.

Empire called back after I received my 2nd quote. They offered to beat the price given to me from the Carpet Guys. i declined their offer. I would have hoped that they would have given me their best price up front.

First we visited the kiosk in local mall, the woman there was very enthusiastic and helpful in color choices. Salesperson came over at the stated time which was appreciated. The negotiation process is as others have described in other reviews on Angie's list - first super high price, some negotiations, agreed on a price. Were able to give a deposit to sales person with balance due when installers show up before they start work. Installers called to say they were on their way, came at designated time. Showed us the carpet so we could verify correct color. Next they did some sort of electronic withdrawal right then over cell phone when I gave them the check (make sure you have the $ in your account as the salesman warned us that money deducts immediately). Very efficient installation team, they knew how to work together and were in constant motion! They took old carpet/padding away and cleaned up afterwards. They completed the job quickly, just about hour and half for whole process. Room was carpeted in less than 18 hours from when salesman came over. We have had no issues in the two months since installation.

I got up at my usual time of 7am and, after my morning 'routine', I vacuumed and straightened up a bit, expecting the Empire and quot;representativeand quot; to arrive. Silly me. I busied myself around the house, keeping an eye out for the Empire Rep. Finally, after no representative and no telephone call, I called Customer Service (again at 1-800-588-2300) and spoke with and quot;Janice.and quot; Expressing my disappointment, I asked why they didn't seem to want my business. She asked me to hold while she contacted the Rep to determine why my appointment had been missed. After a couple of minutes, she came back on the line and said she was unable to contact the Rep. (Funny about that.) She then said she would call me back as soon as she was able to contact the Rep and find out what happened. After standing by all day, 4:30pm arrives. Nothing. I AGAIN call Customer Service and ask (Ian) to speak to a manager. After some resistance, I'm connected with someone who identified herself as Maria Rivera, a Customer Service supervisor. When I asked (again) to speak with a manager, she told me the manager had gone home and she could give me her voice mail. (Ha!) Seeing an impasse, I described the events of the day and Empire's total failure to keep their promises. In a manner that made it clear she couldn't care less about my business (or Customer and quot;Serviceand quot;), she informed me that they had a policy/procedure that gave them one (1) to three (3) business days to give me a callback. Even after I told her that no such time period was mentioned and I was clearly expecting a promised same-day callback, she seem unperturbed about wasting my entire day, saying they only inconvenienced me for two hours(!!!) -- the time period of the missed appointment. Needless to say, I'll NEVER do business with a company exhibiting such disdain for a potential customer. (I'll call CostCo instead.)
Description of Work: On Thursday, 9/26/13, I called 1-800-588-2300 to arrange an in-home estimate for whole-house carpeting, pad, and installation. The representative (Sergio) told me they could have a representative visit between 9am and 11 am the next day, Friday 9/27/13. I agreed and provided extensive information (name, address, telephone number, nearest intersection, etc.) to facilitate the appointment. All information was read back and verified. So far so good.

Let me start by saying the installers that actually did the work were amazing. Very accommodating and made sure everything was done to your satisfaction. On the corporate side, there were a few snags. We had our install date more than a month in advance, but that didn't stop corporate from calling us almost every week it seems to confirm a date that was wrong. The carpet installers actually showed up three weeks early because we missed one of their confirmation calls. We had to send them away. Beyond that, we are very satisfied with the end result and the house is completely different.
Description of Work: Replaced all floors in a split level 3000 sq ft house. Much of it was tile. Replaced with hand scraped solid hardwood and medium pile carpet.

Estimate was ridiculously high compared to others received. The sales rep had a long phone call with his and quot;bossand quot; to see what he could do about the high-priced estimate that I was surprised to get. He came back with a huge slash in price, but it was not good enough. The quality of the carpet was the worst I have seen, and I would not have been happy to pay more than Lowe's pricing with poorer quality.

They are punctual and the staff is nice. They were educative and told me about the carpeting. They gave me instructions about how to take care of my flooring and carpeting.

They did a good job. The only thing that I had it fault with them and it turned out to be a lifesaver is that they measure high. They gave me way too much carpet which turned out to be wonderful because I ended up having them replace part of it because I have a dog. They did a flying job on the carpet.

I ALWAYS SEE EMPIRE ON TV AND SINCE I WANTED CARPET INSTALLED RIGHT AWAY FOR AN UP COMING EVENT, I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE MY BEST CHOICE. THE MAN THAT CAME OUT WAS PROFESSIONAL, A LITTLE PUSHY, BUT OVERALL NICE. HE FIRST QUOTED ME A 3500 DOLLAR QUOTE TO CARPET MY BASEMENT, (ABOUT 860SQFT AND VERY CLEAN) I TOLD HIM THAT WAS VERY HIGH AND MORE THAN WHAT I EXPECTED. SO HE GOT ON THE PHONE WITH SOMEONE AND CAME BACK WITH 2119.00 DOLLARS. WOW WHAT A DROP. I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT WAS THAT MUCH CHEAPER, WHY? FOR BEING SO COMPETITIVE YOU SHOULD DO BETTER WITH THE FIRST QUOTE. TO ME THROWING A HIGH NUMBER OUT THERE AND HOPING SOME SUCKER WILL BITE IS AN INSULT, AND THEN TO DROP IT ALMOST 1500 DOLLARS WAS NUTS. BUT I DECIDED I WOULD HAVE THEM INSTALL THE CARPET. NOW I PLACED THE ORDER ON WEDNESDAY AND SCHEDULED THE INSTALLATION FOR FRIDAY. THEY TRIED CALLING ME ON THURSDAY AND BECAUSE I DIDN'T ANSWER, THEY DECIDED NOT TO SHOW UP FRIDAY MORNING LIKE SCHEDULED. I WAS VERY UPSET AND I CALLED THE 800 NUMBER WHICH THE PERSON I SPOKE WITH WAS RUDE TOLD ME THAT I SHOULD HAVE ANSWERED MY PHONE AND THAT THEY WOULD JUST RESCHEDULE ME. WELL THAT WASN'T GOING TO WORK BECAUSE LIKE I SAID I HAD A WEDDING SHOWER GOING ON AT MY HOME THE NEXT DAY! SO I CALLED THE MAN WHO SOLD ME THE CARPET, HE CALLED HIS GM AND APOLOGIZED, TOLD ME THAT IT WOULD BE OUT THERE THAT THEY WOULD CALL ME SOON. HOURS LATER THE INSTALLERS FINELY CALLED ME AND SAID THEY WOULD BE OUT SHORTLY. SOON THEY STARTED CALLING MY PHONE OVER AND OVER BECAUSE THEY WERE LOST AND I HAD TO GIVE THEM DIRECTIONS. IT DID NOT HELP THAT THEIR ENGLISH WAS VERY POOR AND I COULDN'T UNDERSTAND THEM. WHEN THEY FINALLY SHOWED UP AT THE HOUSE, MY HUSBAND LET THEM IN THE BACK (TO THE BASEMENT). AS THEY STARTED TO BRING IN THE CARPET, THEY WERE THROWING IT DOWN MY BASEMENT STAIRS. MY HUSBAND HAD TO RUN OUT AND TELL THEM and quot;I WOULD APPRECIATE YOU NOT DOING THAT.and quot; SO NOW INSTEAD THEY STARTED TO BRING IN THE CARPET AROUND THE CORNER AS THEY CAME IN THE BACKDOOR, REMOVING THE PAINT OFF OF MY MOLDINGS OF THE BACK DOOR. I HAVE PICTURES OF THE PILE OF PAINT LEFT BEHIND. NOW WHAT I WAS TOLD WOULD ONLY TAKE A COUPLE OF HOURS TOOK MORE THAN THREE. THE MEN KEPT USING THE BATHROOM AT THE TOP OF MY STAIRS SLAMMING THE DOORS (BACK DOOR AND BATHROOM DOOR) INTO EACH OTHER. THEN BECAUSE THEY TOOK SO LONG MY HUSBAND HAD TO LEAVE FOR WORK AND MY MOTHER STAYED AT MY HOUSE, WHERE THEY MADE HER FEEL EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE BECAUSE THE MEN SPOKE LOUDLY IN A FOREIGN LANGUAGE THE ENTIRE TIME. THEY WERE COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL.

Terrible! Too complicated to re-live by posting here, but very poor craftmanship in terms of molding installation and customer service in the main office in Detroit. My salesperson was fine, she felt terrible, but could not get me the help I needed to resolve damage done to molding, and floor, they should stick to carpet. They are no less expensive than anyone else, I had other quotes, so don't think you are getting a deal, it is all the same in the end.

appearance was very nice. but only 3 years later (8/12) there is so much water between the liner and tub that it feels like a water bed, and is spilling out onto the floor! I called Empire on aug 28, they were to call back in 1 -3 days. they did not call lback. I called again Aug 28 - they claimed that they had 1 wrong number, and the other number I had given them blocked unknown callers, so I again gave them 2 phone numbers to call me on. Again , no callback. I had to call again on Sept 4, explained the issue, and finally got a call back that day. and guess what - after all this, I was told that they don't do this anymore, and furthermore, their work was only guaranteed for 1 year!! I waited all this time to hear this, with water spilling onto the floor, have spent $2600 of our hard-earned money, and now this. After only 3 years of light use, we have a repair estimate ( from another company) for $225!
Description of Work: Empire installed a bathtub liner and surround Sep 2009. I had to call re tub liner defect on Aug 2012.

This was a first class service experience from start to finish. Our salesman Eric was very helpful, He even made a second trip to our home to verify that our selection was good after we had our counter tops installed. The installers were exceptional. Brant and Will arrived early and worked straight through the day to complete our job. They were very organized and went out of their way to ensure everything was done to our satisfaction. After I told them that I had recently had back surgery, they would not let me lift a finger to move anything. When we have our house re-carpeted later this year, I will ask for this install team again. My hats off to the entire Empire team that help with this project.

Quote process went as expected. They were on time and explained the products. I had Empire out the year before for a quote, and the "buy now pricing" process was in effect, but this quote was fair and seemed reasonable. Carpet seemed of a lower quality than competitors, but I think that is was actually the age/condition of the carpet samples. For a company that does all of the furniture moving, price was competitive. We went with a lower quoted local business.

They did an excellent job and cleaned up after themselves. There was no fuss, no muss! They were even 10 minutes early. They moved my furniture for me and ndash; some of it was very heavy! Everyone who comes to my house says and ldquo;Wow I really love your floor!and rdquo; They left me extra flooring in case I had a problem or needed to replace anything too! You pay for the materials but labor is free so the extra laminate was great because I won't have to pay labor for repairs! The job ended up being bigger than expected - They brought in an extra worker to finish the job and didn't even charge extra.

To start he came late, but that was the least of it. During our initial talk about what he offered he answered his phone twice for 3-5 minute calls and didn't seem apologetic about it. Finally he measured 100 sq ft more than every other estimate I received. He only showed us 3 wood color options and said the other ones are "very expensive." Did his sales pitch of "normally I only discount 10% but for you I'm doing 25%......" Then he told me for his 400 sq ft of space (312 with everyone else) it would be 3200 for laminate (Over $10 a sq ft for laminate?) . When I told him that was significantly higher than anybody else, he said all their laminate was garbage and became agitated and we were done with him at that point.

I was given various quotes by competitive carpet salesmen. Except Empire was high priced. I mentioned this to my Empire salesman and my quote dropped $500. on the spot. Why not be competitive to begin with?? O.k. so he could install the next day. Good! I have an upcoming social event and would like to make my house more presentable. I decided to go with Empire. I was expecting installation to be today or tomorrow and had been waiting for the salesman to contact me to confirm . I called him yesterday hoping to get such confirmation. He texted me back that he is no longer employed by Empire and gave me a managers name and phone number. I called and left a message. No response. I texted him, no response. I went elsewhere! Very disappointed!
