Called to remind before arriving, came on time, cleaned up well, friendly and professional.

It went fine. I didn't pay anything extra and they are very knowledgeable about chimneys. They were thoughtful about not getting anything dirty, so they were very clean in taking the soot out of the chimney. So their cleanliness stood out.

For professional Cleaned very well. Provided sand and rock layment and inspected chimney.

We needed our chimney swept ASAP! Called and they arrived the next day right on time! They did a fantastic job and cleaned up better than I would have myself! They filled us in on all the details about the status of our fireplace and were very helpful, knowledgeable and trustworthy! Would definitely recommend and use again in the future!

Purchased voucher on 5/5/2014. Received an email from them on 5/6/2014 requesting my phone number. I responded on 5/6/2014 with my phone number. They called me on 5/9/2014 and informed me that there will be an additional $25 charge because I am not in their service area even though I checked their website and the map on the website includes Lake Orion in their service area. I told them I would think about it. I emailed them on 5/16/2014 requesting a refund. They responded on the same day saying I would need to go through Angie's List for the refund and wanted to know why I was requesting it. I responded back on 5/17/2014 that it was because of the additional $25 charge. They responded back on 5/19/2014 apologizing for the inconvenience. It is their loss because I do need masonry repair and they could have made more than enough money from that to cover any of their additional expenses.

Steve described and showed us via video problems that he found in the chimney and detailed how they could be fixed. He gave us a written estimate of the job that will need to be done before next use of our fireplace. We will have Detroit City Sweep come back to fix our chimney problems. He showed up at time, was pleasant and efficient. Change GED out ashes, reset logs, cleaned glass. Helped me with an issue I'd been having with my damper. Fireplace looks great

The two young men who completed the work were very nice and respectful.They introduced themselves. They laid down sheets to protect the carpet.They inspected my chimney and told me the damper was damaged,which I knew since it couldn't be closed properly.They suggested I replace it which I intended to do .I told them to go ahead and replace it. When they went on the roof to sweep the chimney they noticed that the cement around the base of the chimney was cracked and broken, they showed me pictures of the problem which was good so that I could actually see what they were talking about. I decided to have that repaired which they will come back again to complete. After the work on the damper was done the young man showed me how to operate it and had me try it also. He went over the bill with me to be sure I understood the work they had done.I would recommend this company to my friends and acquaintances as I had a good experience.

They were very professional, prompt and friendly. Steve and his partner were very respectful of my home and used protective covers on their shoes and covered the floor around the fireplace. I also requested a quote for tuck pointing and replacing my concrete steps. When they were finished, Steve gave me a written receipt with an estimate for a chimney cap, tuck pointing and the steps. He also gave me brochures for the chimney caps and reviewed the proper care and use of my fireplace. I will be using Detroit City Sweep to do the tuck pointing and the stairs as the estimate was reasonable and fair and l like their professionalism and efficiency.

Steven called about 30 minutes before he arrived. He was very polite and laid out the plan of attack when he arrived. He was courteous, explained some of the nuances of operating and having the fire place. He took the time to explain how to use the fire place when I asked given that it was a gas fire place and I had not tried to use it since I purchased the home. The whole thing took about 90 minutes. He was very professional through the whole thing, explaining most things about the fireplace throughout the process. Would recommend and use again.

Performed services as listed and more-also inspected chimney. Cleaned up and around fireplace. Recommend.

I have listed all of the items above and as I previously stated, they were prompt, courteous, explained what was done and cleaned up the area.

Excellent service. Steve and his partner showed up within their estimated time window, promptly, professionally, and courteously did their work. This home is a rental, so I need to run all work proposals by the landlord. But, if he agrees to perform any of the recommended services, I will call Detroit City Sweep.

The serviceman was a little late, but that was not a problem because they called and advised me. He was very professional....put booties over his shoes to keep carpet clean. Also spread large canvas in front of fireplace to keep it clean. He answered questions that I had about the fireplace. He cleaned and checked everything. Cleaned the glass spotlessly. It looked like new when he left. Perfect!!!!!

Service was excellent. Provider arrived on time and was very respectful of my home - always remembering to cover his shoes before entering. We discussed my concerns and did an extensive evaluation after which we determined what needed to be done, when each task would be undertaken and at what cost. Explanations were clear and concise. He and his assistant cleaned up the area, replaced the stove, and cleaned the stove and fireplace area before leaving. Both were polite and efficient. Further discussion ensued as to when to perform the remaining job - purchase and insertion of a new liner. The estimate provided was right on target, no changes were made after the work was begun. This company has demonstrated the best work ethic and a level of professionalism that I have not seen in a very long time. I would happily recommend them to anyone who needs chimney cleaning/service or other related work done in/on their home.

Appointment started with a phone call an hour before the appointment to ensure we were home and would be ready. I met them at my home they inspected the chimney and laid down material to keep my carpets clean from the entry door to my fire place. They showed me the problems and gave me pamphlets on what should be done further past a cleaning and explained everything in detail and showed me my fire place and the additional products available to accommodate my requests for keeping moisture and animals from being able to enter the chimney. Very professional and wonderful service.

Although this review is an A, there are a couple of issues I had with provider during this service. Provider didn't quite do everything that was explained in the discussions about the additional services that were purchased. Also, the chimney cap, that was purchased from and installed by provider, isn't as easy to open and close as represented. That being said, the provider was prompt, very professional, very neat, and very courteous. Originally, the provider was called in order to have chimney swept and inspected; also, the chute's reservoir was to be cleaned. Provider suggested the installation of a chimney cap and a new fireplace chute cover. The prices that were quoted I understood to include the removal of the all the old fireplace hardware. All of the services discussed were performed. Provider was paid, then he left. After that, I discovered that the old fireplace hardware was still in place. I contacted provider who stated that he would have had to "grind" out all of the old hardware and was still willing to do come back and do that. I elected to just leave things as they were. The new chimney cap is closed by firmly pulling a beaded chain in the fireplace straight down and then snapping the chain into a notch located on the side of the fireplace. This is not as easy as the provider made it sound. Opening and closing the cap was done easily by the provider, a young man. I think anyone that has an issue with their arm, or back, will find it very difficult to open/close this cap. Senior citizens probably won't be able to open and close this cap. As it is, I leave the cap open for entire weekends because of the difficulty of using the chain to open/close it. The fireplace is mostly used on the weekend. While I am not crazy about the chimney cap operation and I wish provider had communicated better what was going to happen (or not happen) with the fireplace hardware, I still strongly recommend Detroit City Sweep for chimney sweep service.

They were good. Everything was really good.

An ideal contractor experience. Very professional experience with the office staff on the phone. Quick turnaround time from my first call until the service was performed. While it didn't work for me, they even offered to come on a Sunday! They arrived exactly on time, cleaned my chimney and gutters quickly and to my standards, within 2 hours. I would highly recommend this contractor.

I was on the roof, then down to the fireplace, then back on the roof, watching Steve & assistant work, Steve willingly explained the processes as they went along (I was hands on mainly out of couriosity of watching work done as a first time chimhey house owner.) The work was done diligently and to my satisfaction, thoroughly.

It went great. He showed up on time. He got right down to business. Very Polite! He took pictures before and after.
