The technician called ahead and was right on time. He explained what he was doing and what my options would be as to make my fireplace usable - efficient and up to current code. Very informative and I will be using them in the near future when I get the recommended work done.

My request for service was answered promptly. I was given a choice of dates and times that would work for me. The 2 man crew showed up on time and performed the requested services efficiently. They may a couple of recomendations but did not pressure me for additional services. They explained the operation of my fireplace since I had just purchased the house.

The technician made our gas fireplace look like new. He removed the logs, cleaned out all the soot and dust, vacuumed the interior, and polished the glass doors. He even went on the roof to check the chimney. The technician was very efficient and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone needing this service.

Two technicians came out to the house on time. The cleaned the gas logs and put new sand into the fireplace. They brought their own tarps to ensure they didn't make a mess. Very polite and professional. I will use them again. Thank you!

They were very responsive and worked around my schedule. When I had a question, they sent me directly to the mechanical expert who returned my call in short order. There is no need to look elsewhere. These are the "go to" fireplace people.

It was not worth the price I paid for it. The service man was late getting to our home, although he did call and warn me he would be late. I was a bit upset that he could not put the logs back the way they were when he was done. He had trouble putting the unit back together, but was able to after my help. Our fireplace works well, I just wanted it checked out and cleaned. He mentioned to me that it may be time to replace my unit, which really put me on the defensive with him and this company. When you purchase something that is supposed to have a value over $200, you expect it to be $200 worth of work. I would say it was not even worth the $50 I ended up paying for it. When he started putting the glass back on, I noticed that he hadn't cleaned it. I asked him if he had cleaned it and he said, "No, we don't usually do that". I told him that I bought a gas fireplace cleaning and inspection and that I expected to have the glass cleaned. At first he told me he didn't have the supplies to clean it. When I inquired further, he said, "You know what? I may have some out in the truck, let me check, and if I do I'll do it for you". Like he was doing me a big favor. I do not feel confident that my fireplace got a thorough inspection for safety, etc. Nor did it get very clean. I ended up opening it back up after he left and vacuuming and cleaning the bottom inside unit.

Service person was very nice and friendly, but wasn't that careful about keeping the surrounding area around the fireplace clean. When he first started, he started placing the dirty logs directly on my carpets. I quickly rushed to get a towel and asked him to pile stuff on that instead of the carpet. He was good about doing that from then on. He also walked into the house with really dirty shoes and was generally not that careful about cleanliness. The service was not worth the voucher price...it took him 5 mins to tap a rock on the pipe to clean the gas fireplace. He did not clean the logs, the base, or anything else...just the holes in the pipe by tapping a rock on it.

The service went very well. After inspection we were informed some of the masonry in the fire box had cracked which explained the heavy burning wood smell upstairs. We had a voucher for $100.00 towards repair and that worked out fine. We made an appointment to have repaired the next week and was done when they told us it would be . Excellent job and on time. I was at work when both jobs were done and when I got home I could not tell that he was here, everything was cleaned up so well. Very happy and will be using them in the future.

Their customer service called me to see how things went. I explained everything to them, they said they would research it and she never contacted me again.

This company is wonderful! Punctual, organized and knowledgeable are cornerstones of their ability to get the job done quickly and effectively. Our technician was clean, quick and provided additional information above and beyond what I had expected. Do not hesitate to take your business here.

Bought a Angie's List Big Deal for a $99 for a Gas Log Fireplace Tune-Up, Cleaning, and Inspection. The technician that arrived was prompt, called ahead, and was very professional. He inspected our gas log and quickly noted that it was quite old (likely the original with the house) and needed to be replaced. He checked the pilot and found it to not be functioning. The entire gas log assembly needed to be replaced. He wrote up the service, gave us information about new gas logs, and was done. The visit took less than 30 minutes. He mentioned that the inspection cost was $79, but I paid $99 for the deal. I did not receive a tune-up or cleaning, but that was because the unit was beyond repair. Unfortunately, several days after the service was provided, we did smell gas in the fireplace. We weren't sure if the unit wasn't turned off properly, or began to fail worse than before. We had to turn off the main gas line to the fireplace. This wasn't a problem prior to the service. Not blaming the company or technician, but this was our experience. Overall I was happy with the company and technician, but feel that I overpaid for the services provided by buying the deal off Angie's List

Wonderful. Will call them out again when needing the dryer vent cleaning. As I looked over the business card this company also does tuck pointing. He gave me an estimate and I agreed. That was done on 7/23/2015. Again he did a terrific job. Beyond my expectations and I received a senior discount. All smiles here.

He was prompt and courteous. Explained what he would do to clean out fireplace and did it. Best of all he was VERY NEAT. There was absolutely no mess and he cleaned up after himself. Price was excellent - based on an Angie's deal.

We couldn't be more pleased. The technician, Rob, was very professional, and worked his backside off. We were afraid we would be told that the voucher we purchased from Angie's List would not cover all he did, because the last service people we hired (NOT from Angie's List) did that, but there was a never a word about wanting more money. We absolutely would use the services of Detroit City Sweep in the future, should the need arise. Thank you to Rob, their technician, and thank you, Angie's List!

My dad was there while the services were provided. He said that they did what was expected, were timely and professional. They did exactly as we had expected - no complaints here!
