It was pretty good. They did a good job. There were no additional charges. My fireplace used to not lit. So, I asked them to fix it. They didn't fix it. They said, "Oh, we only do the cleaning." They said, "Somebody has to come here and they will charge you $90," which I didn't like. It was an easy fix for them. That was the whole idea I called them. It took them an hour to complete the service. The actual service was good. The only thing was, the reason I called was not fulfilled. They could have fixed it and charged me for the parts. That was easy. They came on time. They were pretty nice and decent guys.

I can't speak as to the quality of Detroit City Sweeps (DCS) work because after three scheduled visits they never made it to my home to do maintenance work on my fireplace. What I can share is their poor scheduling practices and arrival times. As mentioned above, I scheduled three different visits with DCS. I was first scheduled to have someone from DCS come to my home on December 12th between 1-4 pm. It was after 3 P.M. when someone called to say he had car trouble in the morning and that he still had two customers in front of me before he could make it. I had other plans though and didn't want to wait that long so he said he'd contact his support staff to reschedule me. I never heard back from anyone so I sent an email on December 16th letting them know I hadn't heard from anyone yet. A lady called me back on the 17th saying she wasn't aware of what happened and did I want to reschedule. So I set up an appointment again for December 19th between 1-4. On December 19th I waited again from 1-4 and at 4:15 received a call saying he was in Grosse Pointe (quite a ways from my home) working at someone elses home and wouldn't be able to get to me until late. Again, I had plans that evening so I called and rescheduled a third time for December 22nd at 5 pm. So I waited again on the 22nd from 1-4 and as usual I get a call at 6:30 P.M. saying he's 1 1/2 hours away and do I still want him to come. I told him that I was already out and about and that I'd reschedule again. But I knew that that was it with this "company". I remained calm and patient each time I spoke with someone from this company and they were always apologetic - but seriously, three strikes and your out !!!

I am not very happy with this company. They are bad with responding and I've been waiting over a month to hear from them.

Very professional job well done. Also took pics and pointed out some other repairs need. Also quoted those repairs.

Gentleman wore booties when he came in the house. Brought everything he needed, including his own vacuum and glass cleaner. Was nice to my dog.

The service provider was knowledgeable and positive. He worked confidently and professionally. He was here for about an hour and explained everything to me. Our fireplace had not been tuned up since we had it installed 10 years ago. I was impressed by all that was done. And by how much better it is working.

Did a great job came out in the middle of a snow storm and was on time.

After reviewing the estimate we decided to schedule a repair time with them. The first time we scheduled with them they gave us a 9am to 1pm window on a Tuesday. At about 10am I called to see if they were able to provide me with a more specific timeline they, told me that they were just about to call me but and that they couldn't get a technician out to my home today, and that they would have to reschedule my appointment for Saturday from 9am to 1pm. The following Thursday I happened to be in my kitchen when I noticed a white van with sign on the side that said "Detroit City Sweeps". I waited and watched as a man parked his car and begin to walk toward my front door, and then immediately turn around and get back in his van and drive away. I'm not sure what that was all about but I'm pinning it on the companies inability to manage and schedule their technicians properly. Come Saturday, I waited until about 10am again when, a neighbor down the street invited me over to say hi. I went over thinking that if the technician came they would call, and I would be able to quickly leave and be there to let them in. After coming back from my neighbors house, i called to see if I had missed the technician, the women on the phone informed me that I had not, but that they would need to reschedule my appointment again. To summarize Detroit City Sweeps had to cancel my appointment twice, on the day of the appointment without calling me first.

Rob was fast and thorough, and clean. He spent extra time walking me through some pointers on our fireplace and the types of wood we should use. I really appreciated the additional information s it makes us feel more safe in using the fireplace.

Overall, very professional service. Kept house clean from debris, tried to clean bricks but stains were pretty tough, so they left some de greaser for me to continue to clean.

Their suggestions and responsiveness to my questions were given in an objective manner not with pressure to utilize their company. They gave information for other businesses to obtain material/supplies. They also did a follow up call inquiring about the service provided and whether I was satisfied. I would definitely use them again.

Went well. Ended up calling them back about 15 months later to do the actual work for the chimney concrete cap and aluminum cap as needed. Would use again. The ladies that answer the phone and set up the appointmtents are professional and polite. Very helpful and easy to work with.

They came out for a gas fireplace tune up from a advertised angieslist special. The did show up late but called to inform my wife the where running behind. They finished the tune up in a timely manner and where very professional.Shortly after the tune up on our gas fireplace the pilot light would not stay lit. We call for them to come back out after Thanksgiving. They told us they would come out between 9:00am and 1:00 pm. They called to say the y where going to be late. They also said it was possible they would have to replace the thermal coupler and it could cost up to $250. After the call I decided to cleaned it with steel wool and the fireplace stayed lit. Part of the fireplace place cleaning was to clean the thermal coupler. They called again to say that it would be even later before they got there. When I told him that it was working after cleaning the thermal coupler and asked wasn't that supposedly part of the job. He then stated he did and hung up. I called the company direct and was told the manager would call me back. I received no call and the tech never showed up. It's amazing coincidence that the fireplace worked fine until they did the tune up. The fireplace is only 4 years old. After tune up was done I did give them a good review. A company that does not do the work they where hired for or stand behind does not deserve a good review. I will also be filling a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

The installer Chris showed up on time. He was extremely professional. Our fireplace had not been used in a long time and took a while to get started. He figured out how to make it work, and showed me how to start and run it. He then cleaned out everything, put all new materials in the fireplace and re-arranged the logs to make it look awesome. we have had a few people over since it was done and everyone has commented on how nice it looks. I would absolutely use this company again. Chris was awesome to work with

Very professional, the fireplace looks great, and works again! They even came back out when we couldn't get it to light, and they came back out and walked us through how to get it to do so without charging us a second dime. The tech was friendly and on time. I'd recommend them.

This was one of my first purchases on Angies list, couldn't have gone more smoothly and couldn't be happier with the Company and their service. From scheduling to communication with the driver when he was on his way to their professionalism it was A+ all the way.

I am loving my fireplace now just in time for the cold weather. It was not operational until Detroit City Sweep came in and cleaned and assembled my gas log pieces. Now everything works perfectly.
