Requested three different dates and got our first choice. Steve gave me a window of 9 AM - 1 PM, and said they would call about 15 minutes before arriving, which is exactly what happened. Rob was the technician who did the sweep and performed the cleaning and the inspection all for the $99 fee with no additional charges, and was in and out in just under an hour. Going into it, I expected that it was "too good to be true" and was prepared for having the high pressure sales pitch to perform additional work while they were on site for a "discounted" price that would not be offered if they had to come back, but that was not the case. Additional work was proposed, which I fully expected considering the age of the fireplace and chimney, but there was no pressure. As a matter of fact, the chimney needs some de-glazing and I asked if the work could be done that day, but Rob unfortunately didn't have the chemicals to do the work. For all the additional work that was proposed, I was shown what needed to be done and why, and because I am a skeptic, I have done some research on my own, and I have verified their claims. They also provided some estimates for the additional work (which unfortunately is substantial) and even gave a discount if all the work was performed at one time. They also followed up with a call a few days later and left a message to confirm that I was satisfied with the work performed and to discuss the estimates they gave for the additional work. I still plan on getting quotes from other providers for the additional work, and if the costs are in line, I plan on awarding Detroit City Sweep the work and will post another review.

The service man was clean and efficient, no mess to clean up. He spent about and hour and replaced old heating embers. He vacuumed inside fireplace. He gave me good instruction of operating the burner control. Over all I was completely satisfied.

It went great. I was suprised that it is cleaned from inside at the fireplace, not on the roof.

A little slow to respond but once scheduled, service was performed satisfactorily and on time.

It went well, they came at the appointed time, had buckets to collect the gutter debris and then luckily, it was our trash day the next day, so they just dumped it in our garbage can. Pleased with their service and will recommend them to my neighbors and friends.

After a bumpy start because of bad weather, the work was done very well. The service provider was very knowledgable and gave good advice on caring for our fireplace. We have them on file to call again next year!

Arrived on time and met expectations. I think he should have cleaned up after himself though. It was a very minor mess but if it were a bigger job I'm wondering if it would have been a bigger mess.

I heard from Detroit City Sweep the next day that I purchased the fireplace cleaning and tune-up....they set up an appointment in the same week....fast response. Chris showed up when they (he) said he would. His professionalism was above and beyond....he showed me how to turn on/off the fireplace for the season....I now feel safe doing this

Detroit City Sweep had the best price to replace my chimney crown and ended up pouring a concrete crown for a fraction of the cost of several competitors. I was able to see the before and after for myself and am very pleased with the quality and professionalism.

First of all, I really liked the customer service. The girls on the phone were very personable, and very friendly. They were people that I enjoyed talking with. That isn't always the case when talking to a business. Secondly, the job performed was top notch - I can't see inside of my gutters, since I can't climb a ladder easily, but I can say that care was taken with all of my shrubbery, flowers,and plantings (which are numerous), there wasn't any sort of debris left behind, and a nail that had been sticking out (and which had caught and ripped my flag) was put repaired without my having to ask. In short, I was very pleased and would recommend them again.

Complete waste of time. I'm really sick of pre-paying for a service & being given a choice of service times only to NOT be contacted by the service provider. When I finally contacted them 3 or 4 days after paying they said they hadn't received an e-mail yet stating what I paid for. They set the appt. with a 4 hour window & were late. My time is important. I don't like businesses that say they're going to do something & don't follow through. The extent to which I was serviced was basically being told my fireplace log was old, he wasn't going to light it, they sell replacement logs cheaper than other places, a new log cost around 1,200, your chimney looks clear, sign this & show me your voucher, the boss doesn't do refunds, thanks & good luck with the house. Also the tech smelled of cigarettes. I would have rather given my money to a bum on the street that's **** ** his luck for his next meal. At least then I would've known it was being used for something.

They worked out okay. I think their service was really okay. They were supposed to do some follow-up but that got delayed quite a bit. I just finally dropped it. I just decided not to do it. They were waiting for a part to come in but other than that, they did a pretty good job. My interaction with them was good. They did a fine job. They should do better with their follow-up. They said they had ordered a part. By the time we tried to hook up a couple of times, I just had somebody else do it.

It didn't turn out well. I've been in two minds. I have a gas fireplace and it wasn't working for years. The guy came in - he was the third or fourth. He knew exactly what to do and it works. That's the good part. He left a mess. I called a couple of times. They never came back to clean it up. There was additional cost, but he did a lot more work. The total cost was $300 to $400. It was worth it because he finally got the thing working.

We had significant build-up of creosote in our fireplace chimney, and purchased the "$99 for Chimney Sweep and $100 Credit Toward Masonry Repair" Big Deal coupon to have all of the creosote cleaned / removed so that we could use our fireplace without creosote-related safety hazards. Following the cleaning, and prior to leaving, the service provider informed us that only some of the creosote was removed, we would need to pay for an additional service to have the remaining creosote removed, and the fireplace was not safe to use as result. Additionally, when the service provider first arrived, he had concerns that the house was too cold for the chimney to be cleaned properly. He told us that when he first opened the fireplace glass doors, dust came out of the fireplace into the house instead of going up the chimney. Although this turned out to be a non-issue, I was not informed that there were house-temperature requirements when I scheduled the appointment. Overall, we felt that the service we paid for was not completed as it should have been, and that we were not properly informed of the preparation needed for the chimney cleaning.

He was professional, the work was excellent he was personable, he is just a person you would want to come back he was just good!

Quick service call, on time and experienced....will use again.

He did a wonderful job. He also showed me how to operate the fireplace. I would use this company in the future.

We were extremely impressed with the professionalism and friendliness of our provider. He was an absolute wealth of information. I'm happy to say our fireplace passed inspection and we even got some wonderful tips on how to use it more effectively.

They did a great job, showed me how to light the logs. Cleaned up after themselves. Very helpful

He came out and was unprepared he did not have the sand. He had to go out and get the sand and I asked him to get the extension for the fireplace handle. He did not come back with extender. Chris wanted to use my sand instead of him bringing sand. I let him know everything was supposed to be fresh.

The job went well. He has to come back to fix the outside of the fireplace.
