Fresh Start Cleaning Pros

Larry and his crew did a great job! I would recommend them to anyone. We had to pay a little extra because the square footage of our decks exceeded the promotion amount. Larry was very responsive and took the time to answer questions and address my concerns even though he was very active out in the field. We live on the east side and they were still very willing to travel and honor the promotion that was running at the time. He even provided a certificate of insurance when I requested it!

The company arrived on time to performed the said services. I was very unhappy of the entire process. First the company comes to the home in a residential vehicle and to perform the service they use a non commercial pressure washer. They are 1 hr into the job when i go outside to inspect the job and notice they are only spraying the vinyl part of the house and totally skipping over the brick part of the house. I ask why he isn't cleaning the house and his response was they only instructed him to clean vinyl. I instructed him i paid for a pressure washing of a home that is under 2000 sq ft. as advertised and thats what i want. They was only using cold water instead of hot which they couldn't do because of non commercial equipment being used. For the 200 i paid for the service i could have went on craigslist and purchased the power washer they was using and properly cleaned my own home. Very disappointed with my purchase from angies list for the first time and not purchasing with this company again!

Average job. Soap residue left on wood floors.

I promptly received a call to set an appointment for an estimate as my deck was slightly larger that the square footage stated in the offer. The offer also included carpet cleaning for one room. Since I didn't need my carpet cleaned I wondered if I could trade off the carpet offer for the extra footage on my deck. The company very generously allowed me to do that. Shortly after my estimate appointment I got a phone call and the work would be started May 1. One of the owners and an assistant showed up early on May 1 as promised and did a great job cleaning my deck. It looked new even though it was built around 1995. Not only was the deck powerwashed but also the stairs, railings and many, many railing posts. They also moved two very heavy wooden barrels filled with dirt and plants that we could not move ourselves. The deck needed to be dry for two days before the sealer could be applied. I asked if they could find a water based sealer because I had problems with slippery mildew forming on the deck because it was mostly shaded. I had read that that kind of mildew fed on oil based sealers. We had a rainy first two weeks of May but as soon as the weather broke they were promptly out to apply the sealer. They did apply a clear water based sealer on the deck, railing and posts that I was very happy with. So far (I'm writing this in mid-July) the deck still looks great. I am very pleased and certainly received every bit and more of what I paid for.

As requested, Fresh Start followed the manufacturer's instructions for application of all products, cleaners, stain, etc.. They had to come back on different days to get the project done as required. Fresh Start was flexible about doing the work on a day that met the manufacturer's parameters for use of the product. Outstanding performance! Fresh Start did a great job!

I made my first appointment and when they showed up an hour and a half late, I told them I would not be available to stay. We scheduled a 2nd Appointment and once again they called and said they would not be on time. They missed 2 appointments, so I got a refund for the Big Deal.

Because of the deck, it was all dependant on the weather. Because they had to wait for the deck to dry, it took a few days before they could seal the deck. The service was good, but I told him he needs to be more communicative with his members. It was a little tough to get in touch with him when I needed to and there were a few times he showed but didn't call.

The owner sent out another crew to finish what the first did not and they were nice. Not the kind of experience I expected. I also bought this "big deal" for a friend before I had the actual cleaning and regret it.

I did not receive any deep cleaning services. Basically only dusting was done, and that was not thorough. The two girls were pleasant, but they were here for only 4 hours when they were supposed to be here for 6. I was just dissatisfied with the cleaning. They did not dust the baseboards, some of the table tops, or the window sills. They did not even use a vacuum.

The crew of two girls was supposed to come at 9 AM. As they did not show up till 10 AM, I called the office. I was told that they left at 8 AM for the job. Finally they showed up at 10:20 AM and started work at 10:30. At 12:00 they left completing only a part of the job they were told to do. The quality of the work was mediocre at best. I paid for 6 hrs of work, got only 3 hrs. The owner is probably going to copy and paste the same comments as he posted in response to some of the recent complaints about the company. But the fact here is that despite similar issues with recent users, the company has not changed its business practice. I will not hire them again.

Pros: I received a confirmation call from their office the day before the appointment The 2 cleaners showed up within the 1 hour time frame stated & were pleasant young women They brought their own equipment & supplies Cons: The 6 hours/2 cleaners for 3 total hours advertised was only 2 cleaners for 2 hours - NOT a good deal!They didn't clean top of fridge, top of range hood, interior of microwave, or even clean under the small scatter rug by the sink. Kitchen floor didn't appear to have been washed very well. Toaster oven top was wiped, but nothing was touched in the interior (crumbs, glass door, etc.). No wastebaskets were emptied in entire house; hall mirror wasn't cleaned. Overall, cleaning was very superficial. Although there was a quick walk through afterwards (which appeared to be okay at the time) there was no written check list of the services which should have been performed, so it was difficult to think of what SHOULD have been done on the spot. I blame myself for that. I told them not to wash the 5 windows "included" in their price,(since I'd just had all the windows done inside & out) but to just spend the windo washing time time elsewhere in the house. This obviously didn't happen, since they only stayed 2 hours and what they did wasn't very good.

They contacted me very quickly after our purchase and made an appointement. They arrived on the day of the appointment, cleaned our carpet and power-washed the deck. then we quit hearing from them. after several weeks they sent an email saying they had to wait for several dry days to finish the task. we waited for more than a month without hearing anything. finally only after threatening to report them to Angie's List did we get a response. on the appointed day two very nice men, but without any identification that they were from the company, arrived and said they were there to finish the job. they completed the job in two days (did not have enough stain to finish in one day) and the job is well done. The men were polite and careful. the job itself is well done. My frustration was with an almost complete lack of communication. if they are not busy they do a good job.

Their service was everything I could have hoped for. Once an appointment was made, I was keep informed of what time I could expect the crew to arrive. This was very helpful and allowed me to stay at work until shortly before I needed to greet them at my home. Once the deck was powerwashed, the crew was to return the following morning to apply the stain. They only apply a clear sealer. I wanted to re-stain my deck in the same color as before, so I purchased the stain for the crew to apply. Then the rains came. For the next week or so, the stain application had to be postponed several times, since the stain i selected needed 48 hours dry before application. Throughout this delay Fresh Start keep me posted with several phone calls and as soon as a window opened of dry temperatures, the crew arrived and performed their service. The stain was applied using an air compressor, which I feel was superior to brush or roller. All and all, I was impressed with the crew and their work.

The workers were prompt and efficient and seemed to do their best. I am disappointed the driveway didn't clean up as well as I hoped. After it dried thoroughly I notice it is streaked so could have used more power washing.

Lousy. Not punctual, left 1 hour earlier than promised, dirty spots remained, trash and dust not cleaned out, shower floor & chromes having dirty spots, as well as shower door being still slimy with soap scum. Is this deep cleaned? You must be joking!

These guys were really professional and easy to work with. Larry and his assistant (can't remember his name) showed up early on the Saturday of our appointment and spent about 2 hours power washing the deck. He explained that the labor would be about 50 bucks more than in the Angie's List deal because our deck had a bigger square footage, which I thought was more than fair. They returned 48 hours later, after it dried, to seal it. Looks great; water beads up. Good experience start to finish.

We bought a special Angie's Deal coupon for $159 for a spring clean up of the garage. When I called they scheduled the appointment for the day I requested. They called before hand to let me know they were on the way.The crew was very professional and listened carefully to what my husband and I wanted done. They offered "up charges" but not in a hard sell way. We paid extra for: being more than 20 miles out of their home base zone, special deodorizing spray, and truck full ofjunk hauling.We were aware of the extra charges that we might incur before they came out. I paid them gladly. It was a huge job, one that my husband and I had no time to tackle. They accomplished the complete job in an afternoon.

Same as above. However, just try to get on their schedule and it won't be overnight as they are busy.

Larry showed up to powerwash our deck and playscape on a Friday, did part of each, said he needed a different cleaning product and never showed up again. He left 2 voice messages for us the following week saying that his schedule was backed up due to rain and he also sent out a mass email stating the same thing. We never heard from him again. That was over 5 weeks ago! I've called several times to see where we are on his schedule and each time the message states that his voice mailbox is full. I even emailed him - no response. Several other people who bought the same deal emailed each other checking to see if anyone has heard from him - lots of very unhappy customers. He's ignored all of the other customers' emails as well. Nobody can get a hold of him. What a scam.

They job took longer than it was suppose to. They had some problems with the employees and we were unhappy with the deck when they were finished. We called the office and left messages but they didn't return our calls. Since the job took much longer than expected the owner did wave a $100 fee.

The guy came out, scraped the deck, did some washing on a Saturday. He said that he couldn't get all the paint off the deck, so he'd need to come back & sand. Then he could paint it whatever color I wanted. He asked for $150 for the paint. My landscaper was trying to put $3000 worth of mulch around my deck. I check with my landscaper as to whether or not he came on the 29th as promised as I was out of town. It turns out he didn't show up. He texted me days later saying that he was trying to catch after 2 employees quit. He said he'd be out the next but didn't show up until 2 days later. He still couldn't get all the paint off & said he would have to come back - again. This was the Thursday before Mothers Day. He promised to get it done before Mothers Day. I waited until the Wednesday AFTER Mothers Day, texted him and asked that he send the money back. He never responded. I texted again asking him to at least contact me back. He said the president of the company was supposed to send me a check. It is nearly the beginning of June and I still haven't gotten money back or heard anything else. There are wood splinters all over the deck & I never even got my carpet cleaned - It wasn't even mentioned! They were TERRIBLE.

I bought the coupon and scheduled the work for this past Wednesday 5/23/12 at 10:00am. Back story, I just bought this home and have not moved in as yet, I was attempting to get the deck painted and the carpet cleaned prior to my move in. I was called by their receptionist Ki Ki and told they were running behind and would be at my home between 12:30pm- 1:30pm,1:30pm came and went and did not hear from Larry or Ki Ki. at 1:40pm I called and was told they were still at the other job. I asked when they would be at my home? Ki Ki called Larry then called me back saying 3:30pm, I asked was this a firm time because if not I could not wait past this time. Ki Ki confirmed the 3:30pm time and Larry and his co worker "Limey" arrived at 3:40pm. Larry apologized profusely and offered to clean extra areas for free. He did an area rug and he cleaned a basement window trench for free as a courtesy for his being 5 1/2 hours late. Larry pressure washed the deck while Limey started on the upstairs carpeting. There was a large stain in the guest bedroom that Larry advised his carpet guy could clean. Limey worked on the stain for a while but the stain is still in the carpet. In an effort to clean the stain he repeatedly soaked this sudsy solution into the stain the suds began to overtake the interior of the machine and they had to empty out the excess as the desudser they had was not solving the problem. In any case Larry was to return the next day at 3:30pm in order to paint my deck. I turned the air conditioning on high in order to assist in the drying of the carpet. Larry arrived on time for Thursday Deck painting, he and his assistant taped the deck and completed the paint job and it does look good. He did get paint on some of the brick to my patio and one of the pipes. Thursday evening Larry finished the painting and left my home at approximately 5:40ish. Please note that the carpet was still wet in my house 24 hours after the cleaning. I did not go to my new home on Friday but returned this morning at 8:30am. When I opened the door I immediatly smelled a very pungent smell. It had rained so my first thought was rain had gotten in the basement. I checked the basement was dry and so I went looking for the source of this foul odor. I found the source it was the carpet particularly the carpet where Limey had attempted but failed to lift the stain. I was aghast as I had air duct cleaner coming within the hour and I am scheduled to move in on Tuesday of next week. My house smells as if every member of every team in the NBA stored their gym shoes in my house! It is AWFUL!! I had to apologize to the air duct technician for the foul odor in my home. I told him what happened and he recommended another carpet cleaners who may be able to assist me. I called them and they told me to place fans in the rooms and that perhaps the smell would dissipate once the carpet was dry. He said there was no gurantee that the smell would leave but that once the carpet dried then his company could come thru and try to see if they could get the funk out! I have bee calling Fresh Start since 8:30am this morning leaving messages abut the problem. To this moment I have not received a reply. To say I am disatisfied is an understatement, I am INCENSED! Who wants to move into a new home that smells like there was a smelly foot convention going on inside??? To top it off the non response by Larry or any person from Fresh Start is disheartening. I wanted a Fresh Start in my new home and instead I can barely stand to sit there for 30 minutes without going outside for some fresh air. The other persons I contracted with thru Angie's list have been good, this interaction is customer service at it's absolute worst. I would not use this company again nor would I recommend them for ANYTHING!!!

Cleaning was okay, I would be hard pressed to call wipe down of bathroom sink with a Clorox wipe (that I provided) a deep cleaning. Also, I question the use of a Mr. Clean multi-purpose cleaner as the best choice for hard-wood floors (I provided an alternative). One of the times they emptied the dustpan from sweeping in the trash can in the bathroom; they clearly missed the trash can and deposited the contents of the dustpan on the bathroom floor. None of it was really a big deal; but I would conclude that I got what I paid for; had I paid full price, I would have a different perspective.

I purchased the $119 for six hours of deep clean on 4/26/2012. I scheduled them to come out for the first available appointment which was 5/11/2012. I was told that two people would come out and spend 3 hours doing the deep clean for a total of 6 hours cleaning. I was told that they would arrive between 2-4 pm on that date. On the day of the appointment I received a call from Keke who advised that someone had called off and that the 1 person who would be coming out would be able to arrive at approximately 4pm. She asked if that would be acceptable. Initially I agreed but then I thought about it and decided that it wouldn't be ok as I was expecting 2 people that would clean for 3 hours not 1 that would clean for 6 hours and thereby be in my house until 10pm on a Friday night. I called Keke back and told her that it would not be acceptable and asked to reschedule. She informed me that the next appointment would be on 5/22/2012. I told her that was not acceptable and that I would like a refund if they couldn't come out sooner. She said she would have the owner call me to discuss it. Shortly after that Keke called me back and said they could have 2 people out to my house the next day, Saturday, 5/12/2012 @ 4pm. I told her ok. The next day at approximately 2:50 pm I received a call from someone who said they were on the way. I told her that they should NOT arrive until 4pm as I wouldn't be home until then as that was the appointment time. The woman on the phone got an attitude about it which caused me to tell her that I was no longer comfortable with them and wanted to cancel and get a refund. I told her I wanted to speak to the owner of the company to express my dissatisfaction at which time she said I could talk to her "supervisor". She then put another woman on the phone and I tried to explain to her why I was no longer comfortable with them (times kept changing and they did NOT sound professional) and that I would not allow them into my home. As I was trying to speak with her she HUNG UP on me. I immediately tried to call the number back and consistently was put to voice mail which wasn't set up. Within 30 minutes the illusive "owner" Larry called me and wanted to know what the "problem" was. I explained to him that I was getting uneasy feelings over the inconsistencies and unprofessionalism and that I when his employee hung up on me it was the final straw. He at that point said that I had become belligerent with his employee and that she had the right to hang up on me. I told Larry that if trying to explain why I was uneasy and asking for a refund was being belligerent then I would accept that characterization. He then told me that he I could take it up with Angie's List and that he was now going to HANG UP on me and he proceeded to do so.

What a terrible experience. They were scheduled to come out on Tuesday, but, on Monday, I received a call from Kiki to reschedule because the cleaners they scheduled for my home had a funeral to attend on Tuesday. Okay, fine. Life happens and we rescheduled for Thursday between 9-10 AM even though I was wondering why we didn't receive a call earlier seeing that one doesn't find out about a funeral the day before it happens. I work so I had to rearrange my schedule in order to accommodate this change. I made sure to tell Kiki that I work and that it was really important that they arrive on time. She assured me that they would be on time and guaranteed there wouldn't be any issues with them getting to my house to clean it. On Thursday, they hadn't yet arrived and it was 10:20 AM so they were 20 minutes late. I called Fresh Start and no one answered the phone; I left a voicemail to find out when I should expect someone to show up. I called again at 10:45 AM because no one called me back (you'd think that someone would care enough to call back after this is the second time they've inconvenienced a first-time customer). This time, I received a message stating that their mailbox was full. I then contacted Angie's List and got a full refund for the Big Deal. My wife and I now have to hustle to find another company before the baby comes and, guess what? We are having trouble finding a company who will come out on a day or two notice. Thanks, Fresh Start, for your poor communcation!!
