Mr. Labor

I first was told the name of the company I was dealing with was Mr. Mover....until Erin Gauthier called after our move claiming to be the owner of the company we hired... which was now named Mr. Labor. Derek and Jeremy, who claimed to be co-owners and brothers, came to my home to give an estimate of the move. I showed them around my home and in my garage. While outside, I was asked if I would like them to move the playscape as well. Yes! If they are able, I definitely would like it moved. They took a quick look at it and said it would be no problem. When back inside, we negotiated on a price of $900 for packing, moving, unpacking, and reassembly of the playscape. The said they would bring 4 men and the full process would take from 9AM-10PM. On moving day, they arrived 45 minutes late. The did come with 4 men AND a woman--- Derek's fiance. After the truck was full, Jeremy asked if they could also use my vehicle to transport belongings. I declined. Jeremy said they did not anticipate a second trip and would have to come back for more belongings from the house and also the playscape. They said they would need more money. They moved the full truck to my new home. Meanwhile, Jeremy spoke to my husband about a new price since he did not expect more than one truck full and it would cost them more money and gas to do so. He also claimed I added more items to be moved....I absolutely did not! Jeremy raised his voice, called me a liar, used foul language, and was very abrasive. To avoid further complications, we agreed to pay more even though this breached our original agreement of price. Within 20 minutes, I mentioned unpacking. Jeremy now states that was not included and begins to yell again and became threatening. I called the police. Two of the movers took off when they heard the police were coming. About an hour later, Derek and his other worker continued to move my belongings into my home. Jeremy did not come back and the other one who left with him came back approximately two hours later. They returned to my previous home to get my other belongings. However, they did not have the correct tools to take down the playscape. It was agreed they would return the next day to finish the job with the correct tools since it is now dark out and raining. Later that night, while putting my 4 year old to bed, I notice her bed is very unstable. The slats are broken and the bolts were barely tightened. VERY DANGEROUS! Not to mention, I now had to purchase a new bed. Pictures frames were broke and unsalvageable, tables were scratched, master bed slats were banged up so badly saw dust was sitting on it from the deep gauges, Leather couch has a HUGE piece torn off the back, and much, much more! After all this, we did not want them back. The following day, we received a call from Erin. She was accusatory, did not care about what happened to us, our belongings, and how we were treated, did not ask to get our side of the story, and said she only cared about what her employees told her. On the phone, Erin told us she did not have a moving license nor is one needed. **NOTE: In the state of Michigan, a license is required to move home goods. During the initial meeting, Derek and Jeremy said they had one. Upon unpacking, glass was thrown into boxes without being protected from damage. Nicknacks were put in without regard as well.
