After reviewing painters on Angies List, I initially contacted Carlos via email and asked if he would provide me with an estimate for the painting and powerwash. He replied that he would and within days he forwarded to me a detailed plan of work and an estimate of costs. Since the estimate included references to architectural details that I don't have (like a back door and frame) and work that I did not want done (like painting the window frames), I edited the document. He accepted my revisions and we set a date for work to begin. He arrived promptly with his crew on the appointed date and time. We reviewed the project face to face, working from our "contract". Originally I had included painting the gutters and downspouts in the scope of work. The windows, gutters and downspouts had just been replaced and the only reason I wanted the gutters painted is that my HOA advised me that I was not in compliance with community standards by leaving them the "stock" color (white). Carlos said that while he would paint them if I wanted to, he advised against it because new gutters are manufactured in such a way that their natural finish is protection enough and paint would only attract dirt and mildew. I checked with the manufacturer and they concurred. Work progressed over several days mostly because I was not always there to review and make corrections. Take note: Carlos will follow your instructions to the letter, so be precise. Example: The side of my house faces north and is constructed of brick. There is an architectural detail in the brickwork, below which mildew tends to form and above it, not so much. But it is not a hard and fast demarcation. I used that architectural detail as a guideline for the powerwashing. "Powerwash below the detail, but no need to above" I said. I never said anything about mildew and they did exactly as I said -- powerwashed below the detail but not above. That left some small patches of mildew that they needed to come back for. OK, that's on me. Another example: Our contract said "replace rotted wood". After job completion and for final review, I got my binoculars out to inspect the fascia boards along the roofline. I detected a very distinct area of decay such that there was an actual hole in the wood. I expected that this kind of thing would have been discovered during actual painting, if not before, and addressed then. It was not and I had to call Carlos back to fix it, which he readily agreed to. My overall impression is that Carlos Mosquera is eager to please his client and will provide the best possible service to realize that goal. I'll conclude with a list of PROs and CONs. PROs: Carlos and his crew are prompt, professional, courteous and hard-working. Once work began, it progressed apace. There were no drop-outs or delays. Carlos effectively kept on top of things, even though he was not always physically present. Work areas were kept clean both during and after the job. The quality of the work itself is excellent. He responded to my wishes and concerns courteously, respectfully and with assurance. Leftover paint (two colors) was left with me. A nice touch. CONs: Carlos is not a native English speaker and I had to work to understand him, although he understood me perfectly. His crew however speaks only broken English if at all.

Carlos' employees did a fantastic job painting my home. They arrived on time and were professional. I personally met Carlos and it was a pleasure speaking with him because he wanted to make sure we were pleased with everything. He wanted to make sure we were completely satisfied. The team arrived on time on the Monday Carlos said they would. They worked with 3-4 people and progressed quickly. They were careful of the plants around our house and cleaned up after each day and at the end. On Friday - losing one day to rain - they finished.

Carlos quickly responded to my inquiry for a quote and was able to send someone out to take a look at the job shortly. Getting the actual appointment scheduled was another matter -- they seem to be busy because of good references. Not a bad thing. We got the appointment within a week or so, but it was made on short notice due to rain limiting outdoor work. The painter did an excellent job with the ceiling and floor board -- none of the former damage was noticeable at all. The paint used exactly matched our living room, as promised. This was all very well done and I was very pleased with the results. However, I discovered that I still had a slight leak under my kitchen sink and a plumber came out the same morning to have a look. I was doing to need a new dishwasher, and until I installed it, there would be a potential for a leak to continue on the floor board (the reason for replacing it in the first place). Now, the leak was much smaller, and by not using the dishwasher at all it was not going to present much of a problem. But to be on the safe side, Carlos' painter only primed the floor board under the kitchen sink and left me the paint. He was originally going to do two coats of paint. So, the only disappointment was that I was still charged the full quote even though he did not do any painting in the kitchen cabinet. I painted it myself shortly after replacing the dishwasher.

I went with Carlos Mosquera after having received two slightly higher estimates for the work. I had a tight time schedule as a I had one week between the closing and the date I was moving in. Carlos was very friendly and also came with his floor guy, Saul, when he came to give the estimate. Carlos assured me that Saul could finish the job in the week. The floors were the original heart of pine floors but had been painted and covered up with carpet, while the rest of the condo had the same wood floors but refinished. I wanted the carpet removed and the floors refinished to match. They completed the work but when Carlos and I went to check the work the day before my move, I discovered that the floors were very rough with little sharp specks all in the polyurethane and that the shoe molding had not been installed. When I told Carlos that I was unhappy with the condition and quality of the refinishing, he told me that it would be difficult to get them completely smooth because they were old floors. I knew this not to be the case because the living room and hallways have the same wood floors and they are beautiful. Despite his assertion that it was just the poor condition of the old wood floors, he wanted the customer to be happy with the work so he resanded and refinished the floors once again. Since I had movers rescheduled the next day, I had to reschedule them while Carlos' team finished their work. Saul redid the floors and I was happy the finished result. It did take a while to arrange a meeting time with Carlos to get the keys back and pay the remainder of the fee but it's because he's very busy. While I wasn't happy with the way the floors turned out the first go-around, Carlos' effort to make sure the customer walks away happy is very reassuring and I was pleased with the end result.

Carlos and his crew were terrific. He first came by to discuss the project and see the room and provided me with an estimate that included all labor, paint, and other materials. The work was scheduled for a few days later. He and his crew of two painters arrived promptly on the scheduled day. The two painters went to work immediately and finished in about five hours. They were very careful when moving the furniture so as not to scratch the hardwood floors. They moved everything to the center and covered it with plastic so it didn't get dusty when they sanded. They were extremely polite and respectful and clearly professional painters who did this every day for a living. I was very pleased with the results and plan on hiring them again in the near future.

Very good experience and very good finished product. Carlos was quick to provide the original estimate, to adjust to a request for upgrading the paint originally chosen, to expanding the original scope slightly, and to other small details. Enrique, the crew foreman, was exceptionally cheerful and responsive to all detailed questions, to requests to be sensitive about moving furniture, and to correct the very few minor omissions or details that got overlooked during the job. All the painters were very polite, careful, thorough, quiet, and diligent about their work, Despite the disturbance to normal life that such a painting job necessarily entails, this was as good an experience as we could wish for. We certainly would use this company again, and will recommend it to friends.

Carlos was very responsive to my initial phone call and gave me a bid within 24 hours of visiting the house. Once I faxed back the contract, he gave me a date to start and came early that morning. They power washed the house which had a lot of algae on it from the trees. It rained for a couple of days and he purposely waited to allow the house to dry before they prepped and painted. As a result of the rain delay, his crews worked all weekend to stay on schedule after confirming it was okay with us. They were meticulous about prepping and painting and they were also pleasant and polite to have around. Carlos was here each day to follow up and be sure any concerns we had were addressed. They found two window sills which needed to be replaced as well as a board under a gutter which had rotted from moisture. Carlos brought the wood for replacement and made the whole process seem easy.The house looks great.

Carlos provided the estimate immediately, and even with the continuous rains, apologized for delays he had no control over and showed up as soon as the sun was shining to finish the project with extreme professionalism.

The estimate for the work provided by Carlos was the lowest of two bids that I received. They were quite responsive in scheduling the job--within seven days of accepting the estimate. Carlos crew arrived at the time that they said, confirmed all of the details regarding the work to be done, and started work. They moved the furniture as necessary, prepared all of the surfaces and began work. They applied two coats and cleaned up when the job was completed. They completed the work in two days. Carlos stopped by twice to make sure that everything was going to my satisfaction. Upon completion, Carlos indicated that he did not wish to be paid until we were completely satisfied with the job.

I thought the pricing was incredibly reasonable, I even paid them a little more than they asked. They had excellent customer service and took their time making sure the repairs were complete before painting. They did what needed to be done and didn't rush through the job. The crew leader and owner came a couple times each day to make sure I had all my questions answered. I will be using them again in the future.

These guys are great. They are priced well. They did a great job. The estimater was on time and answered all questions. The painters completed a pretty big job in only two days. I was suprised. It looks great and I couldn't be happier. I tell people about the company all the time.

Carlos and his team are great! Received an estimate over the phone as we were not yet living in our new home. His team was very professional and punctual (early on both days!). Earnesto and the three other individuals who did the painting worked very carefully and swiftly. We used them for our entire house and are very pleased with their work.

Came promptly (I called at night, he answered,) came the next day for the estimate and set up the work on the saturday to accomodate our schedule so we wouldnt have to tolerate the mess until he could come at this first regular opening. Brought two workers, who prepared carefully helping move the furniture and paintings out of the way, using plastic to protect windows and in doorways to keep dust from rest of the house. Extra worker came to assist w painting at the end. Did work as described above. Showed us that the old parts of the ceiling were secure. They were polite and extremely neat, quiet , and Carlos came over several times to check on the work. They cleaned up, even vacuuming the floor after sweeping. Carlos is a very personable man, gave us the right time, and what seemed a reasonable price, so we did not compare or research prices. it seemed fair to us.

(Aug 2011) July Carlos Mosquera painted my fixer-upper house for a very reasonable price; and they did a great job, I experienced no problems whatsoever - no mess, no do-overs, no scheduling issues. The house is about 50/50 vinyl siding & brick. Some of the brick was painted, some was not, so the unpainted brick needed primer. The house was exceedingly ugly. I'm fairly certain Carlos came to the house every afternoon to check the work done that day. I selected th/e colors obviously, but he guided the painters on what surfaces needed what color, or what primer, or additional coats, or whatever. I am grateful and my neighbors are too - I know this because the house was an eyesore, frankly, and I've gotten 5 or 6 walk-up verbal compliments from people in the neighborhood. It was a total transformation. They did a great job. Thanks again.

While the initial call to arrange a quote was pleasant and professional, the rep did not come at the agreed time. When I called an hour later to followup, the rep was disorganized, slightly rude, incomprehensible, and claimed that the appointment was some other time. Its possible is my mistake but I think he knew he was missing the appointment. No point in asking them back compared to the other three companies that did not misunderstand the time, and were super efficient and courteous. Perhaps this is a one off experience, or its my fault, but the response to the mis-schedule was disappointing given the tremendous reviews for this company.

In mid-July I set up an appointment for an estimate on 8/2/11. In July the company was very responsive in returning my call and setting up the estimate. On 8/2/11 no one showed up at my house, nor did anyone from the company call me. Completeley unprofessional. I had 6 other contractors in on the same day for various estimates and all 6 of these contractors contacted me to say they were on their way or if they were running behind schedule.

An excellent job; totally professional, punctual, very high-quality painting: extremely skilled and courteous crew of painters - it could not have been better. I would definitely use Carlos Mosquera again, and give him the highest recommendation

The story: We got started on this project mainly out of concern with the rotted wood in the house trim. It had gotten really bad in the french door frames, and several windows. It looked really horrible. The bay window was especially bad and I was worried we'd get a threatening letter from the HMO manager demanding repair. My husband called Mr. Mosquera's cell and set up appointment with his rep, Mr Ferimin, at a time convenient for us. Mr. Ferimin came promptly, walked around house with us, discussed details & issues and options & what we needed included and what we didn't want included. Also explained the company. And took a lot of notes. We were emailed a detailed proposal with estimate, terms, references. (Suggestion: After the appnt, send an email from yours to his to avoid email confusion in getting proposal. [email protected] ) They started work promptly on the scheduled date. As we were keeping the same builder color scheme, Carlos made sure he had the exact color match by getting from us the builder color names, and also used a peeling paint chip from the trim. And the paint did match perfectly. The carpenter replaced the rotted wood with PVC and it was done cleanly and looked virtually like new house framing. The paint is smooth and careful and I did not see any spatters. Carlos gave us paint chips for the deck ( Sherwin-Williams DeckScapes) and we picked a color. The deck is nice & bright & flat & we can walk easily up the stairs. After we made the final payment, we found a few stuck windows and we called and he came back with the crew the next business day and took care of them. Overall, the work done met & exceeded our expectations and we received excellent value for $'s spent. He was very easy to contact via cell. We appreciate the attention to details. The HMO manager can drive by and look at our house any time, no problem!

Mr. Mosquera promptly responded and visiting the property and made suggestions as to the type and quanity of paint needed. On the day of the painting he and his crew were prompt, on time, and did an professional job without any complications or spillage on the floors. My experience with him was excellent.
