Description of Work: When my 2005 JVC DLP 55inch TV picture lost one of the three color projection channels, I looked at the JVC web site and found that the nearest authorized repair locations were east of Baltimore or in the Germantown area. We live in Columbia and getting the TV to those locations was not an option. Was considering buying a new TV and letting the delivery service take the JVC away. The 2005 JVC cost $2,300. Thankfully, I checked Angie's List. There were 2 highly rated TV repair service providers listed in my area - one local. Used the Angie's List email to describe what was wrong and asked if the local service could make repairs or if I should just junk the TV. The local provider did not respond to the email so I went back to the List. Noticed that Certified had quite a few "A" ratings and very good comments. Sent Certified an email. Don responded the next day. We arranged a time for him to stop by - he was right on time. He ran a set of diagnostics and told me what the problem was and that he might have problems finding parts (set was 7 years old).Told him I was going to be gone for a week and to take his time. When I returned, he had left a message that he had found parts that should work. He stopped by a day or two later and disconnected the electronics to take to his shop. Called back two days later and arranged to bring the electronics back that Friday. He reinstalled the electronics, showed me the part that had failed (actually melted and fused to the optics), ran the diagnostics to optimize the picture, and then spent time cleaning the inside of the screen. Quite frankly, I believe that the picture is at least as good as it was when I first bought the TV. Don is very professional, punctual and trustworthy.

Description of Work: MY HDTV was getting no picture or sound. Don, the Certified Electronic Tech, had a good idea of what the problem was before he evn got to the house. He had also serviced this TV about 18 months ago for a different problem. He opened the TV and did some voltage meter tests and immediately narrowed in on the trouble. He had to replace 2 components on the main power board. That would have fixed the problem but he sat down and patiently re-soddered probably 100 or more contact points on the board. He did this, not because it was necessary to fix the problem but because he said they have a tendency to weaken over time and since he had the board out, he would feel better if he strengthened the contact points. In other words the guy did preventive maintenance on the TV when he really didn't have to. Not many, if any, sevice techs would do that. When he was finished, he put board back in place and the set was fixed. Picture was better than before.

Description of Work: We had had a small fire and the contractor used by our insurance company called an ''electronics'' company to "clean out all the electronics in the top floors of our house of smoke. IRRS who is nowhere to be found in the phone book or Internet did the "work." First of all, we had no smoke. They descended on our house and like the Grinch stripped everything visible that could be considered an electronic and took it with them, including my camera. They then dropped everything off in bundles of wires and gadgets covered with saran wrap. I was at a loss. We have seven room with TVs and cables and dvd/ vhf players and I couldn't get most things connected. I called Certified and was told what the job would enfail. It was the smartest thing I've done for my home. The technician arrived on time. He was very pleasant. He went right for the CD player and got it working since IRRS broke it. Then he worked methodically going room by room and placing the correct gadgets with each TV. He also programmed the remotes so that all we have to use is the Comcast remote. He also set the time on all the TVs. It was a piece of cake to him and he seemed to enjoy his job. He was so professional and in the end he told me to call them back if there was any problem. He charged an extremely reasonable $125.00. I had been in limbo in my home and now I can go to my sewing room and watch TV or a movie while I work or watch TV in my bedroom. My home is becoming the home I mis. I cannot praise this company enough.
