The Gutter Guys

They called us back right away, and were very friendly. They did a great job.

Gutter Guys had many Angies List reports, an "A" rating, and a coupon for a discount on gutter repairs. I called them on Sept. 30 and they indicated there was a $150 minimum for any job. The estimate for replacing the back gutter with hidden hangers, and simply securing the nails on the front gutter was $150, so the coupon would not apply. I would not have to be home for the work to be done. While they came to the house promptly to review what would need to be done, and left a spec sheet for me to sign, it took nearly a month to get the actual work done. And that's after I had to contact them a few times to get on their schedule. The work was finally scheduled for 10/25/11, and they asked me to leave a check for the work outside somewhere where they would see it. They replaced the back gutter on 10/25/11. When I came home that evening, I noticed the the front gutter nails were still sticking out as they originally were. I had to call to have them come back out to finish the job. The front gutters were secured on 10/31/11. Bottom line, the price and ultimate job were satisfactory. It just took longer than I had expected to get the work done.

Signed up for a "Deal of the Day" (mistake). I called to schedule an appointment. They said they had to perform an estimate and I had to be there. Waited on Saturday morning - no show. Called and they said they could do it without me and email an estimate. After the date of the estimate came and went with no email I called again. No show Called again. Someone showed up talked to a sitter at the house, looked at one or two gutters as far as I know, said it was no charge. I got a rambling phone message but no estimate .I did not call back. If they can't do an estimate I don't want them touching the house.I would never use these guys. It is a mystery to me how they got an 'A' rating that the deal of the day said they were.

On the whole, the job went well. They did what they said they were going to do. We had a lot of rain; so it took a while for them to get out, which was disappointing. There was a broken light that we had to have them come back and fix, but they came back the very next day and fixed it. They did a good job.

James Dennis came to our home and gave us an estimate. Their price was reasonable but we went with another company.

The whole process went very smoothly from initial estimate to job completion. In fact, they were even able to beat their original install date, I suppose due to an unexpected opening in their schedule. The employees who came out to do the installation were efficient and professional, and answered the few questions I had with no problems. They performed all of the work per the work order and cleaned up after themselves. I feel fortunate because I was able to get them replaced prior to the hurricane and all of the rain our area (Maryland) received in late August and September, and the product stood up to all of that beautifully. I had originally signed up for the deal to have them come out to clean the gutters, and thats when the estimator showed me that two of the gutters were beginning to separate from the house, which I had not noticed prior to that - this is why I opted for the full replacement, addition of the GutterGard system, and additional downspout installation. Overall, a great experience working with this company, and I would hire them again.

Overall, everything was excellent. I was very well pleased with their work. I was impressed because they had the latest technology, they were capable, and hard workers. The clean-up was perfect.

They were fabulous! Prompt, thorough and really looked out for our best interest. They made us aware that a gutter guard we had (from the previous homeowners) was actually known to make drainage worse and also to rot roofs. They recommended we have it removed - and we agreed. I am grateful they brought it up - since it was missed by both our home inspector and our previous gutter cleaning company. The cleaning was quick, they cleaned up everything and left the house in perfect condition. We were extremely satisifed and will not hesitate to use them again in the future.

Both the estimators and the crew were very professional. They listened to what I needed done and pointed out some additional work that I should do. The crew was really great. It's been real rainy, and these guys actually did the work far sooner than expected. They were on the job for some time; our gutters had a lot of shingle dust in them and really needed to be cleaned, and there was a lot of gutter repair work. These guys did not cut any corners - they did everything. They even cut/trimmed the wisteria vines that had covered a lot of gutter - cut the vines, cleaned up and took the debris to the woods, and moved many flower pots out of the way to do all this. These guys went way beyond the job and did a lot extra work for us just to make sre things were done right. I recommend them without any reservations. We will use them again - both to clean our gutters and to replace our gutters in a year or two. They really do quality work at a very reasonable price. They really are a professional group of guys who went well beyond any expectations I had for the job. Great guys to work with.

A friendly, professional estimator came by on 5/21, and the work was scheduled to take place at my convenience, which I really appreciated. (Service date shown above is to the best of my recollection.) Two very brave individuals climbed up onto the roof and had the gutters cleared out in no time. All in all, a very positive experience.

Although the estimator was an hour late, I appreciated the fact that he called to give me a heads up and to apologize (a rarity these days!). When Matt arrived, I found him to be both professional and courteous. I liked that he took pictures of my existing gutters and gutter guards to show me what they looked like, and that he took the time to explain my options and to thoroughly answer all of my questions. I received a phone call less than a week after I signed the contract, and the work began the next day. The crew (2 guys) arrived about 45 minutes later than I had been told, but upon arrival (and throughout the day) were equally as professional and courteous as Matt. The job was completely finished in one day. Cleanup was good, though I did find several of the old gutter nails in my yard without really looking for them (but I would say the majority were removed). Even though the homeowner is not required to be home for this type of work, I recommend having someone be home, because there was a bit of confusion over the work order (apparently whatever was written on the work order did not exactly match my contract). If I had not been home, it's possible some of the work might have been missed, but because I was home, we cleared things up quickly and all went well. The balance due on the final bill was also incorrect (it did not account for the deposit I had already made), but this was also quickly remedied without hassle. Overall, I am very pleased with The Gutter Guys. They are friendly and professional, and the quality of workmanship is very good. Their price was competitive (I had an Angie's List coupon), and the wait to have the work done was very short. I waited until it rained to submit my report, and I am thrilled to say my new gutters and gutter guards look great and work even better.

These guys are GREAT! I emailed them to come out and take a look at the work to be done. They promptly responded within a couple of hours with a date and time. They showed up exactly when they said they would. Two days later, they returned to complete the job and not only cleaned my gutters, but replaced the damaged pins as well. They did an excellent job and were very professional. I definitely plan to use their services again in the future.

The salesman came out the day after I called; we agreed on an installation date. They came a day after thye original installation date because of weather. I was kept up-to-date on the change in date. The installation took less time than originally . estimated. I was quite pleased with the service and people.

I had my motorcycle parked in the driveway and forgot to move it before I left for work. I came home to move it and Explained to the techs there about a few issues and exacitly how I wanted a few things done. The Tech did not like the way I wanted one of the downspout ran and pointed out the esthetic problem with what I had wanted to do. I thanked him for his advice and told him that was how I wanted it anyhow. They did do that like I asked. I also pointed out a problem with my downspout in the front of the house . it was too low to the ground . At that level I could not get good drainage away from the foundation. I explained it needed to be about 3 inches higher off the ground. He seamed to agree. I went back to work and when I came home I found the front downspout about the same , too close to the ground. the rear downspout was placed just like I had asked. There were only a few traces of their work. a couple screws were on the ground and a couple other things around the house. Over all I think the cleanup was reasonable. My only real disappointment was the fact they never called back to see if I was satisfied. I have yet to contact them about the front downspout, it will have to be fixed. ( repositioned) I expect if I call they will come fix it. Overall I would recommend this company to others. It could have been much worse. and they did manage to complete the job in one day. They were here for about 10 hours.

The estimator came on time. The foreman introduced himself. The crew came the scheduled day and worked well, answering any questions I had. No problems with the work. I would call them again.

I contacted The Gutter Guys via their website, requesting an estimate. I provided an email address and a phone number. I received a phone call 2 days later to setup an appointment for the estimate. I submitted the request online because its easier for me to communicate via email during business house, however I was never sent and email. Another 2 days went by and I was contacted again. Fortunately I was able to answer my phone this time, and we setup an appointment for 6pm on Friday 6/3 when someone would come out to my house and provide an estimate. My neighbors needed their gutters cleaned as well, and it was stated that both estimates would be completed at the same time. On Friday, 6/3, 6pm came and went without anyone showing up or calling. At 6:30 I called the contact number I had bee provided by the Gutter Guys representative I had spoken with, and received her voicemail. I left a message indicating that no one had shown up, and clearly they had no interest in my business. On Monday, 6/6, I returned home from work at approximately 5:30pm to find an envelope stuck in my door. Inside the envelope was an estimate, from The Gutter Guys, for $125. I have about 40 feet worth of gutter, so the actual estimate is just insulting. There was also no mention of my neighbors house, or the missed appointment. Its also worth pointing out that clearly there was no need for me to be home for the estimate in the first place, which contradicts everything I had been told in my initial phone call. I will never use this company ever again. I prefer places that listen to customers, and follow through on expectations.

I purchased an Angie's List coupon for The Gutter Guys to clean our gutters for $95. They sent a man out to inspect the house to make sure that our house fit the requirements for the $95 coupon (it did), and this was done within a few days of my first call. About a week later, they were able to send a team over to clean the gutters. They did a fabulous job, were very polite, and left the site clean. This was a great experience, and I would definitely reccomend them, and use them again in the future. Thanks Gutter Guys! -TMC

I contacted The Gutter Guys four times in three weeks and was not able to get anyone to call me back or provide a quote. I only need a gutter and downspout installed on a row home. I used the Gutter Guys about three years ago and had a great experience, but it seems things have changed. For this new job,I first called in mid-May and was told that I would have a quote by Friday, 5/20. I didn't hear anything and called them back the next Thursday on 5/26. I was told that "Matt" would be contacting me that very day. I didn't hear back yet again and followed up on Friday 6/3. Again I was told that Matt would surely call me since I've been waiting for two weeks. I made my last call on Tuesday, 6/7, and told them if someone didn't call me that day, that I'd hire someone else to do it. Nobody called. Each time I called, I received a lukewarm response from the receptionist. She gave me the impression that she didn't care and wasn't going to lift a finger to help me get some service. Maybe she passes the message and it never gets done so she feels powerless. Anyhow, I was tired of the empty promises and looked elsewhere for gutters. Update: After my Angie's List posting, I was contacted by Matt with a quote and then by a manager a few days later. They were professional and apologized for the lack of service. I do appreciate the follow up even though it was after the fact. I've updated my ratings above to reflect the attempt to salvage the relationship.

They were quick to give a quote. We were told that it would be two to three weeks before they could start the actual work once we gave them the green light to proceed. I had to follow up with them at the end of the three weeks. But once i did, they were out there immediatelely. The work was performed quickly and professionally. The price was way better than any other we received. I will definitly use them again.
