A delightful experience. Jed personally took my calls as we discussed the project over the phone. He arrived on time for a scheduled appointment to look at the space, show me his portfolio, and discuss plans in more detail. He solicited my idea which he then improved significantly. Jed accepted some modifications that were important to me and drew up some rough drawings to be sure we were talking about the same thing. He provided a ballpark estimate on the spot to be sure it was worth both out time to proceed. He explained pricing variation related to different options we had in materials. About two weeks later he provided a firm quote that came in about 10% higher than the ballpark estimate. He explained the cause of the variation and expressed willingness to revisit the design if we needed to contract within the range of the original estimate. About three weeks after we signed a contract and made an initial deposit of 33%, Jed provided detailed, dimensioned, computer-generated drawings from all relevant views. The second payment was due at this point and the third upon completion of the work. The estimated completion date did slip a bit (around two weeks on a two month project, if memory serves), but Jed was up front about the slippage and the reasons for it. Every piece was entirely constructed from scratch and completely finished off site. Installation was a breeze. They needed to hook up a saw behind the house to cut trim to length since they were scribing the built-in to the walls of my Victorian rowhouse. I think installation took most of a day and was performed by Jed and one assistant. It was not terribly noisy and they did a very good job of cleaning up after themselves. They left touch up bottles of the stain and the clear coat. We were completely happy with the work and the entire experience. We were able to get a custom-made cushion from an online vendor for about $300. I wish I were able to upload pictures because you simply wouldn't believe how amazing it looks! Updated because it was eating away at me that I had given a B for price and punctuality just because I am a little on the cheap side and because the schedule slipped. My quirks shouldn't negatively reflect on someone who really knows what he is doing and delivers amazing work.

We contacted Jed Dinger after seeing the stellar reviews on Angie's list and I must say that we were never disappointed from that point forward. Our initial communication was through email where I provided photos of the space we wanted transformed and provided him with details of our tastes and what we envisioned. We then had a consultation in our home where we discussed options, material, and finishes He was very attentive to the details we gave him about what we liked and he quickly came back with a design and quote within a week. Of course we were initially over the top with what we wanted to spend and we eventually scaled back to a design that met our budget and had that unique personal touch that we loved. Not to mention, Jed and I were able to exchange design sketches in Google Sketch-up which made the feedback process quick and painless. All in all, the stand out quality that I noticed in Jed Dinger was his attention to detail which definitely stands out in his finished work, interaction with the customer, and the quality of the craftsmen that work in his shop. They are all top notch and I definitely recommend them for any custom cabinetry that you may have in mind. Overall, quality that you pay for but NEVER regret. Thanks Jed and Mike :)

I originally contacted Jed Dinger via email and he immediately responded by calling me. I described the project and he asked that I email him pictures of the units. He based his estimate on those pictures. He offered the option of having us deliver/pick up the pieces to save us money. The price was very reasonable, as it was less than half of a previous estimate from another Angie's List "A" rated service provider even after we needed to ammend the original estimate. It was finished ahead of schedule. I am thrilled with the work they did. They modified our entertainment unit/bookcases that could no longer be used and tuned them into a beautiful, functional piece. The flat screen TV can now be placed on top of the credenza they created. The wood top is beautiful and the stain matches the original unit perfectly. Jed, Mike, and Andrus are all very nice to work with. I recommend them highly.

During December and January, Angie?s List provided eight referrals to my search for a cabinetmaker. Three were in other states at prohibitive distances from my home. Two were not really cabinetmakers but rather retailers of standard factory-made cabinets that were below my quality standards. I visited the remaining three. Jed Dinger quoted approximately 70% more than one of the other two; but I chose Jed Dinger because during the time I spent in his workshop, I was impressed by the quality of the work I saw in progress; and because Mr. Dinger was not only very personable but also very knowledgeable (for example, he pointed out a problem in the specifics of the drawing I had spent hours meticulously creating, and suggested a solution). After discussing every detail of the job and possible alternate configurations, I knew that although the cabinet I designed is unconventional, Mr. Dinger would build exactly what I needed and that his work would be of very high quality. That observation turned out correct on both counts. The one-of-a-kind cabinet Mr. Dinger delivered is precise to my specifications; its unusual drawers work perfectly, and its quality and finish are first rate. While his quote was higher than the other two possibilities, I regard it as a bargain because of the quality and effort that he devoted to it. I will definitely return to Mr. Dinger for future cabinetry and I urge others to do so also. I rate his work A (?excellent?) for quality, price and other categories.

Jed is seriously the man. From start to finish, working with Jed was terrific. Estimate was easy - described the project in an email and sent him pictures. He sent back a price that was extremely reasonable. Told Jed that we wanted it completed by the middle of January - he got started the night he came out to look at the job. The quality is terrific, he adapted as we kept "adding more" and tolerated everyone's interest - be it mine or my son's! I can't wait until I have a big project to do with Jed.

I cannot say enough good things about my experience with Jed Dinger Designs. We recently moved to DC and needed built in bookshelves for my husband's many many books. I found Jed on Angie's List. He was incredibly nice and helpful during our original meeting. Once we decided on a design, he measured three times to make sure his work was accurate. In particular, he built one unit that ran beside the stairs, and he wanted to get it exactly right. Well, his work is beautiful. We couldn't be more pleased that we picked him to do it. This past weekend, we had a friend over who builds furniture, and he was very impressed with Jed's workmanship. He is a true artist. Simply put, you cannot go wrong with picking Jed to do this kind of work in your home.

We found Jed from Angie's list. Called and made an appt. He worked around our schedule was punctual for the appt. We described the work, he was immediately interested with the complexity of the project and how it could be done. He took measurements and worked up a CAD drawing which he sent with an estimate. We signed and returned the estimate and part of the payment. Once we approved the final drawings and measurements, we sent the next part of the payment. Jed scheduled the install day according to our schedule. He and his assistant kept us informed of their arrival time. Jed and his assistant unloaded the pieces and in a new hours had installed the bookcase. It looks wonderful. We are extremely pleased and would work with him again.

Jed is personable and professional. He was a great pleasure to work with, and I will be sure to call him again for any future projects that I have.

My experience with him was good. He had a great portfolio. The estimated price of $7000 was a little expensive, but as soon as I get the money together, I will probably work with him to get my work done.

Jed responded immediately to my initial inquiry and soon after that came to our house to give me an initial quote. The work was completed in a very timely fashion, actually sooner than originally told. Overall experience was great. I would highly recommend Jed.

Jed was excellent on many levels. I needed to have an existing custom cabinet modified to accommodate a new refrigerator that I was having installed. Since the cabinets are custom made and the refrigerator was to appear as completely built-in, I needed the modified cabinet to exactly match the existing cabinets while giving the appearance that the new fridge and the old cabinets had been installed at the same time years ago. I called Jed and we talked about what I wanted done, then exchanged emails including pictures and specifications for the new fridge. Of note during this planning process is the fact that Jed always answered the phone and always returned my emails. His responsiveness continued throughout the entire job and included confirmation calls the day before he was to come to my house. I essence I always knew where the job stood and when it would be complete. This was great since I also had to coordinate the delivery and installation of the new fridge. On day one of the job, Jed arrived about 10 minutes late but it was OK because he had called me at the orignial time to let me know he was running a little behind. Once he arrived he was ready to get to work. We talked a little more about the modification and when the fridge drawings lacked a critical measurement, Jed and I made an unscheduled trip to the appliance showroom to get a first hand look at the new fridge and see how it was supposed to look when built in to a cabinet. When we got back Jed got to work. The job was split into two days, with the first day focusing on deconstructing the cabinet that was there and the second day focusing on reconstructing the new cabinet. Overall I was completely satisfied with his workmanship, his professionalism, and his responsiveness. He stayed true to his estimate and the modified cabinet looked great. The installation of the fridge went well and the end result is that the new fridge looks like it has been there for years.

Excellent craftsmanship, attention to detail, and a joy to work with. Working with him was the best experience we had during our kitchen renovation.

The process was excellent from start to finish. Jed worked with us to conceptualize the cabinet, showing us pictures from his portfolio (which was very impressive). He is extremely knowledgeable, creative, and easy to work with. After that first meeting he left with our ideas and detailed measurements. He returned with a design sketch that allowed us to visualize the cabinet before it was built. After receiving our approval on the design, the cabinet system was built in his workshop and then brought to our house for installation. We were very pleased with the final product and would work with Jed Dinger Designs again.

He came out a couple of times to measure and then presented me with a CAD of the design. Most of the work was done in his shop and the installation only took one day from start to finish. I am really pleased. It looks great. He really is all about the attention to detail and he makes suggestions for how the finished product should look. I would recommend Jed without hesitation. His work is not cheap but you will not be sorry. The quality is outstanding and he is easy to work with.

Jed?s work is excellent and far superior to anyone else I have worked with. He listened to what we wanted, discussed options and showed us how he would design it, always allowing ample time for our feedback. He was very sensitive to our budget and timing and scheduled his work with the other contractors so not to have any conflicts. I cannot stress this enough, while in our house he always maintained a professional work area and treated our house as he would his own. The project was finished on time and for the amount Jed quoted.

His work is superlative. He listens well, designs, tests, implements, installs and cleans up afterwards. He has been a joy to work with. Happily, I have some more work for him to do.

My experience from start to finish was outstanding. I found the company on Angie's list, and can't recommend Jed highly enough to others looking to have quality, custom built-ins for their home. He was extremely responsive (called me back within hours of my first call and came to my house that night to scope out the project and provide me with a quote!), detail-oriented, creative, and professional, and the work he and his colleague did is very high quality and rich-looking. Jed worked long hours to accommodate my very short timeframe and built and installed the cabinets within 2 weeks (from quote to delivery). He worked with me to help me determine exactly what I wanted in my living room. He provided suggestions after carefully listening to my thoughts and concerns, talked me through pros and cons and alternatives, and ultimately provided me with CAD drawings depicting two options. He designed the cabinets/bookshelves to blend in with the existing design details of my crown molding and baseboards and worked around existing fixtures and space limitations to create cabinets/bookshelves that looked like they had always been there. The result was a very elegant and finished-looking product. Jed was an absolute pleasure to work with and he and his colleague worked very efficiently and professionally together. Jed's work is total quality, and he is a consummate professional. I am thrilled with the result!

Beautiful craftmanship and we were super pleased overall. He was responsive and helpful over email before coming out to the house as we discussed scope, ideas and rough cost. He was professional and creative on his first trip to design and measure. Project was completed about a week ahead of schedule and looks great. He listened to what we wanted but made smart and helpful suggestions to improve the final look and design. He is a furniture maker at heart that does a lot of cabinet work.

This was one of the easiest home improvement/contractor experiences I've had. He talked with us extensively about ideas and suggestions for the project, completed it exactly on time, and followed up afterwards. We love how the bookcases transformed the room.

I had seen Jed's work and was very impressed with the quality and design of his work. We met several times before the final design was completed. Each time we met, Jed added his design skill to my needs and the end result is exactly what I wanted. The unit is beautiful. Jed loves and understands wood and was great at "transforming" my ideas into a work of art. He is also a delight to work with.

Fantastic. This cabinet is a real conversation piece.

The project went very well. The only "don'ts" I had were on my end. A few design flaws I incorporated I would probably change, i.e., cabinet door open direction, adding additional size and extra cabinets. But I have no complaints.
