I think these guys do quality work but I was very disappointed in my last (second) visit to them. They did not bother to tell me that they had chipped the wood paneling in the car when replacing the radio and they failed to honor my coupon that would have saved $50.00 off of my $1700.00 bill. In addition, their website feedback function was not working so I sent them an e-mail and never got a response. Bummed that I will need to search for another car service now that I'm due for a major service.

The first visit went great. They fixed all of our problems ,were very professional and did a great quality job. After the visit, as I was picking up our vehicle, RIck had mentioned a list of services he suggested we look into in order to maintain the vehicle. I was traveling out of town that weekend but told him I would e-mail him when I returned so he can email me the list of services needed as well as pricing. A week or so went by and I recieved no response. Rick called, left a message and said he would look into the paperwork and send me the services they recomended. It's now the end of June and I still have not heard back. We're not mad or anything, but I also can't wait a year to find out what we need to do to get this vehicle back in shape. We actually have $$ we want to spend with them becasue they did such a great job, but we most likely won't wait around any longer. Again, we were very pleased with everthing they did to our vehicle and everyone we encountered. We are just a little disappointed in their follow-up ability.

I've been going to them for 3 years. They are very good people, very professional, very courteous and did a good job in terms of followup. They could decrease their price. I will use them again in the future.

The repairs went very well start to finish. Prices quoted up front, work done on time....absolutely no issues.

I brought it in my X5 because there was a mystery problem that two other mechanics could not diagnose and that includes the BMW dealership. I had the car in and out of the dealership about five times and they could not fix the problem. Eventually the dealership decided the problem was my valve seals and the price tag to fix that was so high it would not have been worth fixing the car. So I took it to Gili for a second opinion and he identified the cause of the problem within a few hours and it had nothing to do with the valve seals! Gili also performed some other much needed work - replaced the spark plugs, front brake pads and rotors, brake vacuum pump, intake manifold gasket, timing cover gasket, valve covers and burned out brake light contacts. Gili checked in with me regularly, explaining everything in detail and making sure I was ok with the work that needed to be done. Gili and his team spent a lot of time on my car and the price he charged me was incredibly reasonable. They really went the extra mile to figure out what was wrong with it and my X5 is now running better than when I bought it in 2010. I highly recommend Gili's and won't take my car anywhere else now. They are honest, reasonable and extremely knowledgeable about cars - these guys know what they are doing! A huge thank you to Gili and his team for saving my car.

They did a very thorough diagnosis and estimate, and were very helpful and proactive in pointing out other areas that might need attention. As well, we requested an estimate for some bodywork, which they have a companion ?Gilis Body Shop? adjacent to their Auto Service. I would recommend Gilis highly: they are courteous, helpful, and honest and extremely professional. We ended up not using them to do the work because of their distance to our house but they are extremely skillful as I found later that their prognosis were right on target. Their price was also reasonable.

Despite Gil's Automotive's modest appearances and large number of cars parked outside, my car was serviced at the appointed time. They were efficient and professional. Very pleased with the outcome.

When I took my car in for the auto-insurance approved repair last week, the insurance company originally sent a refurbished bumper to replace the damaged bumper on my car. Gili rejected the refurbished bumper as being substandard, took pictures and made the case with the insurance company to provide a replacement bumper from the manufacturer. It took a few days longer, but Gili's provided the documentation so that my rental car was extended and limited my inconvenience. Gili's is alright with me.

Since I was in the hospital and couldn't get my husband to pick up the car, they sent a driver to give him a lift to the shop.Even took my car to nearby tire shop so I could get much need new tires. Overall there work is excellent, prices are fair and they are very accommodating. Did all the work within a couple of days.

They used a computer to diagnose the reason for the lights turing and it turns out that the ABS switch was not functioning. They were able to correct the problem. They made it a very painless experience. They did have to order the part and when I brought the car back the next day, Gilis had the repair done in less than an hour.

The engine started shaking on my BMW 325xi, and I took it to the dealership for service and diagnosis. They told me I had to replace the Ignition coil and valve cover gasket, and recommended some additional things (drive belt, etc.). The dealership estimate was $2400. I was price shocked and decided to find a shop thru Angie?s list and found Gili?s. I got an estimate from him over the phone for the same work that dealership had recommended, and it came to $1400, a little over half the dealership?s price. When he looked at the car in his shop, he confirmed I needed to do most of the work dealership had recommended, but there were some other things that were unnecessary. I was really impressed by his honesty and the lower price, and am very happy with the work he did.

Second time here, friendly, patient staff. I know enough about cars to get into serious trouble so they took the time to educate me beyond saying we replaced xyz part. They can be a bit pricy, but it you generally don't have to come back a second time. Well known around Rockville, MD, Location is a pain to get to and does not show up accurately on google maps/mapquest.

My fair rating for professionalism and responsiveness reflects my experience of standing at the counter as a new customer for substantial time before one of the three persons on the other side of the counter acknowledged my presence. Cost of oil change significantly more than that purchased through the Big Deal because of the type of oil previously used in my car. I did take the car back to Gilis to have brake work and other dire work completed, so I do believe the shop provides competent services. However, I have since gone back to an independent shop that specializes in Volvo. I benefited from their wilingness to provide a ride to the Metro and that customer service was appreciated.

Gil's is amazing. I scheduled my oil change around my eye check-up (around the corner). Dropped the car off. By the time I came back, probably less than an hour later, the car was done and waiting for me. The staff is SO friendly and easy to work with. They answer any and all of my questions with a smile.

They did not inform me prior to arriving that I would be accommodated after patrons that were not there to use their Angie's List deal, which equated to about a 6 hour wait. I live 40 minutes away from the location and had made no arrangements for someone to pick me up because I had no idea that I would be required to wait so long for a service for which I booked an appointment ahead of time. I asked them if there was anywhere that I could go and sit to work (besides their small waiting area) and they pointed me towards a nearby grocery store (about a 15 minute walk), but did not offer to drive me over and drop me off. When they were finished with my oil change they provided me with a printed bid for recommended work, but did not explain it to me or discuss with me why or within what time frame they recommended work should be done. They were nice enough, but definitely treated the Angie's List deal like it was a favor to me, not an opportunity to meet a new client. I have since had another auto mechanic inspect my vehicle and am planning to return to them to perform the quoted work instead of returning to Gili's.

about a month ago, just 5 days after oil change at lube center, my car smoked on high way, insurance towed it home and I tried start it several times, smoke badly, never tried to drive it before called Gilis Automotive. I chose to call Gillis because it is the best Auto service on Angie's list which I had bet $35 a Angies membership (disappointed so far). Car was towed to Gilis yesterday, called me today with their discoveries 1. Battery died, quoted $200+ for replacement 2. Start with noise, need a starter, I did not ask price (might be $500) 3. engine code says catalyst converter inefficient, quote catalyst converter $900+ 4. oil dip tube broken, quoted $25 5. engine misfire new sparkle plugs replacement quoted $300+ 6. ignition wire too old, replacement quoted $170 7. I was told the smoke is not the problem of engine, but from the last oil change (might be a spill on somewhere) When I ask them since the car is so deeply sick, is it worth putting money on fixing it, he don't understand what I was saying and insisted I need a new battery to start the car first, and refuse to give opinion on if it was worth fixing, I can not say he is not honest but I do wish he should have given advice as a friend, I would not complain about the person who talked with me and he is pretty nice though. I am suspect with the quite scary list, only allow Gilis perform the replacement of oil dip tube and the ignition wire, this two totaled $309 on the phone (which include $85 towing fee for the towing truck). By the time I pick up the car, the receipt came with a number $487, and I said there must be something wrong, and Gilis found out that they charged me twice on the wiring parts, so refund me $150. I got back to my car, started it and open the hood, there was smoke coming under the hood, and tail exhausts, anyway, I will wait it fade out as I believe the machanic at Gilis' judgment. Suprisingly, I found a feet long flash light remain there which reminded me some doctor left a operation knife in the patient stomach... When I drove my car home, open the hood again, see the battery cover was a little loose, but I could not put it back, then I noticed that my air filter box was wide open, it suppose to be sealed so the air goes through it get cleaned. My wife and I spent 15 min to put it back but I know the past 30 or more minutes I had been driving with unfiltered air all my way home at this Friday evening. This remind me again, that a doctor open a patient's stomach and forgot seam it after the work. 3 mistakes in a roll, I can not believe it will happen, but this is a Friday afternoon, maybe it is common at any auto shop? I hate giving small business negative reviews, but I feel obligated to make the owner aware of the way of improvement and win more customers in long run---even you claim No. 1 on Angies list ....

I have had work done here before and they were great and reasonable. They provide transportation METRO or Starbucks and will come and pick you back up, which is great. However, I could have had the same service performed at the Volvo dealship where I purchased the car for $100, e.g. the same price. So I really don't see the value the "deal" that was offered - $100 for $197 for 4 wheel alignment. What was worth the extra $97?

Very pleased with the honest service, estimate and evaluation of other items that could benefit the car. At no time were they pressuring to do the other service and provided a very fair price compared to others to do the work. I would use them and recommend them in the future.

Only downside was after the car was finished I had to wait nearly 30 minutes to speak to the office manager to go over the findings. They need a better system so someone can answer the phone and someone can attend to customers in shop. It was a very busy shop but seem to know what they are doing and not looking to "jack up" the price without a good explanation.

Inspection was very complete with estimated repair costs on old cadillac known to be in need of several repairs. Fairly listed needed repairs. Repaira estimates repair were reasonable but not low. Very professional inspection report that would have cost at least $80 anywhere elso, but was included with $24 oil change.

Service was good. Dropped it off before work and it was ready that afternoon. My two complaints were that they tried to put the wrong type of antifreeze in to top it off and they tried to sell me other services that were not required.
