About 1-2 months after this work was done the brakes failed.

They were wonderful. They were quick, they were thorough, and they did a great job. They advise me of all things, you know, consider things that I should consider and they were very helpful with my insurance company. They were immediately responsive, immediately. I called them and they said yes. I went there; they told me everything that I needed to know concisely, clearly on my first visit.

Friendly and honest service, free coffee while you wait, everything I could hope for at a mechanic shop.

It was incredibly expensive but they warned me in advance. At least they gave me a ride to and from the Metro.

The mechanics found several small issues and one large one. They were prompt and courteous, and I felt they were thorough and fair throughout. The prices were not out of line, and I will go back. The shuttle service was also extremely helpful, and they did the work in a single day, which was also appreciated.

Decided not to have work done at this time, but company was friendly, professional and responsive.

It went well. I would recommend them. It was good service and he gave good service. He was honest and I have not had any problems with my car. I had to call them. I would use them again.

We got very good advice from the owner on what we needed to do to keep an aging car funning in safe condition, and what we didn't need to do. Service was fast and on time and right on the estimated cost.

Everything went better than planned. Rick was very detailed and got me in the same day I called. He beat the local BMW prices handily and informed me that work recommended by the local BMW dealer wasn't necessary at the time. I saved money and the repairs were completed within 24 hours.

They were [relatively] reasonably priced, very professional, very knowledgeable, and after speaking with the owner himself - was reassured they knew how to adjust engine warning lights [with manufacturers software]. They were careful to explain why the car "felt" as it did to me....and even detail how much 'life' I have left in my brakes and transmission. They also explained how a previous repair shops failure to adjust some engine lights...caused others to trigger. Again, assurances they had the software to adjust all engine warning lights - proved true. We asked more of them by having the car outside and ready as we returned from a trip - and lo and behold my care was there and so much better! I now trust them explicitly and they have all my car repair business.

Overall, it went very well and I would recommend them. They were responsive, and conveyed the impression of wanting to do a good job for the customer and not an impression of trying to take advantage of the customer as is the case with so many auto repair places. They followed good procedures about the estimate and getting our OK before proceeding with the work (the bill was higher than I expected, but the surprise came at the right stage -- before they did the work, not when I came for pick-up). They did not bat an eye at how old the truck was, although it did mean they had to order special parts which took some time to come in. They seemed to do a good job, although it was frustrating because the window that didn't work electrically, which they repaired (and apparently had to take the whole door apart to reach the motor to repair it) stopped working again within days after we got the truck home, and we had to take it back and go through the process all over again. But Gillis was very nice about re-doing the work and did not try to charge us again. The second time, it has mostly (though not completely) worked. We have not bothered to go back a third time. The work was more expensive than we expected, but it's very likely that we just don't know what these things typically cost. All in all, I think it was a good experience - especially with such an old vehicle. A lot of places probably would have refused it or really gouged us, unlike Gillis. So, I would go to Gillis again, and I would recommend them to others.

I had my car towed to Gilis because it would not start. It was dropped off after hours and they looked at the car the following day. They called and told me what was wrong and confirmed it was a bad starter. I authorized the replacement and they originally said it would be completed the following day and ready for pickup. I called back in about 5 min and asked if they could complete the work today and they told me it would not be a problem, come pick up the car after closing. I brought my printed Angie's list coupon and paid for the work. My vehicle is fixed and it was a good experience as always. It is why I keep coming back to Gilis. They are usually not the cheapest shop in town, but I don't want the cheapest work in town being done on my vehicle. Above all, they do quality work, give sound afvice, and treat my vehicle as if it were one of their own.

They are really good. They are pretty cheap for just a checkup. They are relatively inexpensive for anything else compared to some terrible body shops and they do a good job. They are not always looking to fix when if it is something that actually doesn't need to get fixed. They will give an accurate estimate and they are not looking to make money by replacing things that don't actually need to be replaced. They are faster than everybody else and they have real quick turnaround.

They embody all of the negative things you hear about auto repair. I recently purchased a used car and needed a MD state inspection. My regular auto repair shop didn't do state inspections so I brought my car to Gili's for an inspection. They told me everything was great except the ball joints which needed to be replaced. They said that if they did that they would also have to do a wheel alignment. For the wheel alignment alone they were going to charge over $150 - most expensive wheel alignment I've ever heard of. So the whole quote for this was around $800. I called my regular auto repair shop and they said that they would do it for $500. I brought it in to them for repairs and...surprise, surprise...they said that absolutely nothing was wrong with my car! They recommended I start the state inspection process from scratch at a different place, which I did, and the car passed with flying colors just as I suspected it would. A very good friend of mine is a mechanic and when I told him about this he said "oh, the old ball joint gag, oldest trick in the book". I understand that the pay system for mechanics is not the best (getting 1/4 of an hour of pay for an oil change, etc.) but taking $800 dishonestly from another person assuming that they won't know any better is stealing. This is criminal but worse than that is the fact that people come in and put their trust in in these people and they take advantage of them. Even though I dodged a bullet and saved a lot of money by taking my car to an honest shop, I still had to pay for two inspections instead of one.

They have a clean shop. They have an intelligent man behind the counter. They said it would be done by lunch time, and they called me just after noon to say my car was ready. Excellent experience all around.

I brought my 2003 Ford Taurus to Gilis for a thorough electrical system inspection after the vehicle went from starting strongly to barely cranking in the span of about four days in mid-March. (A different local shop (more conveniently located) had confirmed that the battery was fine and recommended starter replacement, but was unable to perform the detailed testing I requested because I knew that the failing starter had been replaced only three years earlier.) Wanting a detailed inspection and diagnosis from a shop that I fully trusted, I took the car to Gili's that evening, and they fit it in their schedule for the following morning. They performed the requested testing before noon, and Gil called with a thorough report on the results and detailed line-item breakdown of repair options. I opted to proceed with a simple starter replacement and picked the car up the next morning. I was very pleased with Gili's service and professionalism; and, while I could have had the straightforward starter replacement performed elsewhere for a bit less, I was happy to pay a slight - but fair - premium for Gili's thoroughness and attention to detail.

Very quick, great attitude. Toyota dealership offered quote for around 3000, they were able to do it for under 2000. They also recommended a rental place as well as called them and made arrangements for me.

services were performed as requested. front desk staff was not very helpful, though. the location was also further from home than expected.

I received excellent customer service at Gili's; all of my questions or considered and answered. I received step by step updates on the services needed and provided to my car.

We are very pleased with them. They're prices are reasonable.
