Congressional Piano Movers

Superbly. Congressional (Bob & Bill Haynes) brought a large crew and equipment (two trucks) to uncrate, transfer, and assemble my new piano plus retrieve another one for transport back to Germany. They did it with extreme care and professionalism. I was immensely impressed with their know-how and experience.

The work was done very professionally on both ends of the move. The pick up in York was accomplished in about twenty-five minutes. The piano was securely wrapped and protected, as were the piano legs, pedal lyre, and bench. The movers easily negotiated the few steps up from the sidewalk to the walkway and the steps from the walkway to the porch. Likewise, the unloading was efficient and careful. The movers recommended allowing the piano a period of two weeks or so to acclimate to new conditions within my home before having the it tuned. Bill Haynes, the business owner, takes great pride in the service his company provides. I can comfortably recommend Congressional Piano Movers. The quote for this job was better than others I received. In most cases, substantially so. The delivery date (a few days after the pick-up date), and likely the very reasonable fee, was predicated, at least in part, on Congressional Piano Movers' delivery of several pianos to New England on this trip. With the distance involved in the move and the inclement weather on that date, the delivery "window" was off by about two hours.

Upon arrival the 3 young men asked to see the location of placement for the piano.  They were able to back up to the back deck area and unload using pads and a dolly, then used a ramp to enter the house with the piano.  The legs were reattached and the piano placed where specified.  The massage chair was carried down into the basement by 2 of the men and placed where requested.  The drawers were removed from the dresser then transported up the narrow stairway along with the bulky dresser.  The young men were extremely helpful and showed great professionalism.  I would definitely call this company again in the future.

We were quite impressed with Congressional. They were a bit late arriving, but called to give me warning that they were tied up in traffic. Once they arrived, they moved, with care, a grand piano out of a very tricky 4th-floor apartment, managed to squeeze it into an elevator, get it safely out of the elevator and onto their truck. This part of the move was especially tricky, and I appreciate that they were willing to even try it, as the elevator was so small they had to rotate the body of the piano up onto the keyboard. They delivered it to our new house later that same day, and got it placed in the house. They gave us a nice deal on cups that they placed under the wheels of the piano to protect our floors. They also helped move a few other larger furniture items at the same time, which was incredibly helpful as we were dealing with closing out an estate. Very, very nice folks who treated the instrument with utmost respect, for a *very* reasonable price. I would definitely use them again (although I certainly hope to not have to move a grand piano again any time soon!).

They replied to my inquiries on Angie's List in a timely fashion and we scheduled a move at a time that was convenient for us.  They promised to call the day before with a 2-hour window for the expected arrival for the move and they did and said to expect them between 9-11 the next morning.
At almost 11 a.m., they had not arrived at the pick-up location and had made no effort to contact anyone at either the pick-up or drop-off location.  We had to call them and were told they were running late and could be expected at 1230.  They didn't show at the pick-up until 130 in the afternoon, over 2 hours late for their window.  People at both locations were inconvenienced by their tardiness.
The movers finally showed up and made the move.  Once it was completed, they refused to honor the AMEX card as shown on their Angie's List page and charged us 3% to use another credit card for the service.  There was no accommodation for the inconveniences they created.
I would not refer them to anyone.

I first left a message and received a call back from Sara very quickly. Sara was very pleasant and got back to me a quote and a timeline within a few hours. Something occurred outside of their control after they picked up our piano, which caused the delivery date to be postponed. They let me know of this several days ahead of time and offered me options including ways that they could still meet the original due date. I was not in a hurry, so we rescheduled for another day. Very friendly staff and very upfront and transparent. I appreciate good customer service and would use them again.

I asked for move for our Chickering upright and bench from PA to VA, and I was given a date in the same week. A two-hour window was provided for both pickup and delivery, and the service was very punctual. The movers noted any scratches prior to move and showed us everything that they recorded. Congressional told us that its service was insured. The piano was moved on a dolly out of the house and placed on the truck (used lift), where it was carefully wrapped with pads. The move out took about 10 minutes. The movers delivered the piano at a house with outside steps (Congressional personnel had asked up about inside and outside steps when we requested the move). The delivery and move into place was conducted in a very professional manner. At both ends, we found the movers very congenial. Our grandsons were practically the same afternoon as delivery. We would recommend Congressional highly.
