"Thanks again for allowing us to work in your home for this second project. We would love to come out for some professional photos."
Design by Elaine and supervision of the work by Steve was excellent. Incredible service ethic and very concerned about the details and customer satisfaction.. Every project in home renovation in a 30 year old house runs into unexpected issues and Kenwood always dealt with them in a very professional manner. Their workers (they do not subcontract) arrived timely and always cleaned up for the day. They were pleasant and very skilled. The master bath was perfect and we called them in for the kitchen two months later. Follow-up on any small issues was handled speedily and to our complete satisfaction. They are not the cheapest contractor in the area, but who wants a cheap job fraught with mistakes and attitude.
We highly recommend them and would not hesitate to have them work on our home again.
The only hiccup was with the granite / marble place they recommended - Classic. They were a nightmare, but that was not Kenwood's fault at all. However, I would strongly recommend going elsewhere for your counters.
The demolition went very smoothly, after which the plumbers and electricians re-located all the necessary connections, the walls were made ready, and the flooring was installed. My cabinets are fantastic, the faucet is beautiful, the island and all the quartz countertops are sensational, and the lighting is awesome. The workers also installed all my new appliances--which fit perfectly because of their very precise measurements and planning. They did everything I wanted and more, and they did it all in about 3 weeks.
My kitchen is a real showpiece. We just enjoyed family here for Christmas, and it was the best ever, because everything in my kitchen is so much more accessible and because the traffic flow and all the extra space provided by the island make cooking and entertaining a joy!
Workers were always pleasant, easy to communicate with, clean, professional in all ways. They made certain that every detail was perfect before calling the job done. I also appreciate Kenwood's wonderful showroom in Abingdon where I could see and compare all my choices. Joel White was so very helpful in guiding us so that we ended up with the best choices of materials and still stayed within budget. The people at Kenwood are friendly, caring, and concerned about the customer's satisfaction. I am so glad I went with them; a better choice could not have been made.
We worked with Brad in the Columbia/Ellicott City showroom. He was very helpful and provided detailed plans and drawings of the work as well as suggesting options. Not to mention that he was very patient with several visits from us to clarify and change a few things.
Work began the last week of April and was completed by the end of May. Most of the work was done by Kenwood personnel with only electric, plumbing and the granite countertops done by subs - all of whom have existing relationships with Kenwood. We were quite pleased with Kenwood's personnel. Particularly Marshall (supervisor) who was on site nearly every day and always available if needed and Tim who did the cabinetry, window and all of the trim. Unfortunately, I don't remember the names of the people who did the tile floor or the back splash as they were very professional too. The work was first class.
Now the twenty four dollar question - were there any problems? Of course there were. There are always a couple of glitches in a project like this. It's not whether there are problems, it's how well the contractor deals with them. Kenwood gets A++ on resolving everything to our satisfaction and doing so very quickly. It was such a pleasure to deal with people who care about the job they do. That includes everyone we dealt with from the beginning with Brad through the last day with Tim. You will be hard pressed to find a better company to deal with.
Our carpenter Jeff was great. He did an awesome job. Our floor guys were great, as were the electrician and plumber. Beth from the office, who was in contact with us during the job was always pleasant. She supplied a calendar that told us what was going to be done everyday. If anything changed she would contact us. There was also a binder with everything that was needed for the people working on our kitchen. Shannon also stopped by to make sure everything was going well and we were happy.
I cannot say enough about Shannon. She knows her stuff. We love our kitchen and I give Shannon and her ideas all of the credit. She met us at stores and helped with our selection choices. She was an absolute pleasure to work with! She even helped me pick out a paint color when the work was complete. Kenwood, I hope you know what a treasure you have there.
Kenwood staff accommodated our needs and were pleasant to work with. They were very reasonable regarding our requested last minute changes and did not nickle and dime us to death like some contractors do. Any time there was an unexpcted issues (and there always are in houses), they quickly and effectively addressed the issue. These folks are pros, from the the design to the carpentry to the electircal, painting and plumbing. We couldn't have had a better team. We were very pleased and would definitely recommend Kenwood Kitchens to anyone contemplating a home remodel job.
Kenwood staff was outstanding to work with and functioned as a real team. Shortly before the project began, Beth, the production manager, provided a detailed schedule of project activity for the next four weeks. Marshall, the project manager, was accommodating, flexible, thoughtful, professional, knowledgeable, and reliable. He took an active interest in our project and was on-site almost everyday; some days, several times a day, either being attentive to the work of the various craftsmen, bringing in additional resources or making adjustments as necessary, making sure the work was being done correctly, helping the carpenter/installer on occasion, or providing timely and needed supplies. Beth and Marshall were professional and friendly and kept the project moving along smoothly.
Tim Carter, the carpenter/installer, was a master craftsman, prompt, reliable, professional, and very friendly. (A neighbor had a bathroom remodel project completed by Kenwood Kitchens and had stated that Tim was a perfectionist.) We also found Tim to be very detailed-orientated and a perfectionist. It is through Tim's expertise, craftsmanship, and hard work that Brad's design came to life. We could not have asked for a better carpenter/installer. Larry, the master tile finisher, was professional, soft-spoken, hardworking, and attentive to every detail. The truck support crew were likewise hardworking, professional, and willing to assist as needed.
Kenwood Kitchens' attention to detail, timeliness, organization of all the various craftsmen and support personnel (including the carpenter, plumbers, electrician, hardwood, granite and tile installers), and professionalism was exceptional. Most impressive was how everyone worked together as a team to complete our project on a time. We would not hesitate to use them again in any future home remodeling projects and we highly recommend Kenwood Kitchens and Bath.
The Kenwood onsite staff was simply outstanding! Marshall, the project manager, was professional, creative, knowledgeable, and reliable. He showed a personal interest in the job and satisfaction of the homeowner, he was especially attentive to the quailty of the work and making sure the job was done correctly. All of the tradesmen were extremely friendly, prompt, reliable, and provided the utmost professional workmanship. Bill Bonolis, the carpenter, was a master at his craft and was able to create a lit bulkhead over the vanity that I couldn't be happier with. Larry, the master tile finisher, was professional, hardworking, and attentive to every detail, resulting in a gorgeous finished product. Beth, the production manager, provided a scheduled calendar of the work progress, she was friendly and efficiently kept the job moving smoothly. In summary, the project is scheduled, outlined, and maintained on task, one of the many reasons we choose Kenwood for our projects. We have been thrilled! Their attention to detail, organization, patience and professionalism were a huge selling point. Without each team member's commitment and expertise the project surely would not have run so smoothly - Kenwood has an exceptional team for design and implementation.
We talked to a number of designer/contractor outfits, and we would not have gotten this quality for the price at any of them. Two thumbs up for Kenwood!
They also made many mistakes along the way. To name a few:
- the floating vanity (the centerpiece of the remodel) was sagging and would not support the granite counter-tops, so they proposed just putting a crutch under it, which defies the whole point of a floating design;
- they forgot to block in the walls enough to support the closet doors, so they had to pull the drywall off (after it was already painted) and put more studs in there;
- the medicine cabinets were supposed to be recessed, but apparently they didn't tell the rough-in contractor, who never made pockets to hold the medicine cabinets. They are now and quot;recessedand quot; by about the depth of the drywall, and we are waiting for some molding to and quot;fixand quot; the problem by hiding the part that is sticking out.
- plumber had to come out several times due to leaks on sinks and missing part on shower head.
My biggest complaint, however, is that they are extremely late. This was apparent to the subcontractors within 2 days after they started, when they told me that the job would be at least 2 weeks late (I wish it were only that bad).
They are now stonewalling me on dates and not responding to emails.
I would never use them again.
"Since the original posting, we have completed this project which turned out beautiful. It was unfortunate that upper management was not informed about the issues until late in the installation. We take full responsibility and have established new procedures with the designers and job supervision to correct something like this from happen again. We appreciate the customer for allowing us to correct and complete the bathroom. Scott Waldhauser - Kenwood Kitchens"
