Description of Work: On May 25, 2013, I paid for six man-hours of landscaping, to be performed by Mulberry Bush Landscapes. I am not happy with the response I have been getting. It took about a month for the company to schedule a visit, after I first contacted them. I thought no problem. Now, we'll get started. A couple of weeks later the proprietor (Joe Gibbs) came viewed my property & discussed my plans. He was to come by later on his own & take measurements. Another couple weeks later the proprietor said he wanted to come with a planner to finalize my plans. He was offering services of a planner FREE of charge. I asked about the six man-hours. Time was moving on with no work yet began on my lawn. I reiterated to the proprietor the work I wanted done. The proprietor stated he would discuss all that with me when he came by with his planner, at no additional charge to me. I said, fine. I want to know how much of the work the six man-hours would cover, any additional cost to cover all the work I wanted done & when the work could get started. We scheduled to meet on Sat, July 13, 2013. The proprietor, Joe Gibbs, called me that morning & stated he could not make the meeting (other commitments). That he would send his planner to meet with me. I told him that we needed to cancel the meeting. I was expecting him to review the costs for the work I needed done, now. I did not want to speak with a planner about any future projects. Mr. Gibbs stated his planner could speak on the work I wanted done & he needed her to take measurements so he could get started on the work. As well, she could offer additional ideas on my yard FREE of charge. I informed Mr. Gibbs I was not going to be discussing any other work, at this time. I also asked hadn't he taken any measurements? (He was to have done this a while ago.) His planner (Sui Wong) arrived over an hour late (got lost) for our appointment on Sat, 7/13/2013. I informed her I did not want to discuss any other projects. I wanted the work done which I had discussed with Mr. Gibbs. His planner proceeded to ask what work I wanted done. I asked her whether Mr. Gibbs had given her any information regarding my yard. She responded she wanted to ensure she covered everything. Exasperated, I went over all the work again that I wanted done. I asked her how much of the work would the pre-paid six man-hours cover. Ms. Wong said she wasn't sure. She would take some measurements & pictures & take everything back to Joe (the proprietor) for him to answer. Fri, July 19, Joe Gibbs called to schedule a meeting to review everything. We agreed he would meet me at my home on Sunday, July 21, 2013, 10:30am. Mr. Gibbs also stated he felt bad how things were going so he was sending over someone FREE of charge to put mulch on my front flower bed. Fri, July 19, a young man did mulch my front flower beds. Sun, July 19, 2013, Mr. Gibbs arrived at my home at 6:45pm. OVER EIGHT HOURS LATE! I asked him what happened to our 10:30am appointment? I was expecting a no show, after he did not show up or call earlier during the day. Mr. Gibbs responded he was in the area, this evening, & thought he would just stop by. He had not really expected to catch me at home. I asked again about our morning appointment. Mr. Gibbs responded there was some confusion about whether the appointment was on Saturday or Sunday. I asked didn't he have my cell phone number? Why didn't he call? Mr. Gibbs' response was, well I have the contract here, if you would like to discuss it now. I invited Mr. Gibbs in & proceeded to review the contract. While reviewing the contract, I informed Mr. Gibbs of my disappointment in getting the work started. I also informed him that I thought he was over-whelmed & could not effectively handle the work he had advertised for. Reviewing the contract, there were seven line items with a bottom line price. I asked Mr. Gibbs to individually price out each line item so that I could see how he derived at the bottom line. (I thought the price was high.) I did not mention it, but I also wanted see whether or not my pre-paid $299 was considered in the bottom line price. Mr. Gibbs responded it was a fair price. He did not need to make money. He did this kind of work because he enjoyed it. (I didn't understand the "not needing money" comment.) Mr. Gibbs continued, if I wanted to stay home to count the hours while they worked that I could do this. Stated, he presented a fair price for the work I was asking to get done. I informed Mr. Gibbs I would get back to him. I needed to do some price comparisons. I asked Angie's List to return my payment for this "Big Deal". I do not have confidence in Mulberry Bush Landscapes completing the work that I have asked for in a timely & effective manner. Nor, do I have confidence in their pricing. I have checked with neighbors who have had similar work done for 1/3 the price.

Description of Work: Didn't go well enough. Had too much difficulty scheduling the service. There was no follow-up to our first conversation and no response to a follow-up e-mail from me.

Description of Work: Never heard from the contractor, after twp attempts to schedule a consultation to discuss the work. I guess they don't need the business.

Description of Work: We did have an initial meeting with Joe the owner to discuss the work to be do that went fairly well. However attempts following that to actually schedule the work never actuall ended with a date on the calender.

Description of Work: Took several phone calls to provider to get a response to setting up an appointment. Approximately a week later we finally received a call back and were informed they could not perform the service in our area.

Description of Work: We bought this coupon for leave cleanup last fall, but after finding out that there would be additional expenses (hauling, dump fees, etc) we decided not to used it. We spoke with the provider about saving the coupon for possible use at a later date, and he was very accomodating. But in the end, we haven't found a good use for it, so we decided to seek a refund.

Description of Work: Consult on overall landscaping priorities, shrubbery pruning and removal, re-grazing the soil to prevent erosion and improve drainage away from the house, removal of leaves. Did a very good job at all of these tasks. Communication could have been better in order to get excellent rating.

Description of Work: They did a very thorough and much-needed Fall yard clean-up, including leaf removal. I got the Angie's List deal, and I felt it was a very good value.

Description of Work: Due to knee surgery, I was unable to remove the leaves from my yard. I decided to purchase the $199 post Sandy/leaf removal service from Mulberry. Because of unforeseen circumstances, Mr. Gibbs wasn't able to come on the scheduled date and time. But, we were able to agree on a date and time, He was more than gracious with his service, even giving me a poinsettia plant as a gift and offered to perform additional services free of charge. And yes, the leaf removal was fantastic!!! In this day and time of poor service, lackadaisical attitudes and the like, I can freely say that Mulberry Bush Landscapes are a step above the others; one that I will freely recommend to others with hesitancy.

Description of Work: Were to give me yard cleanuup with one or more people depending on amount of time I chose. I was expecting either two or four but they had another job that went over, and several hrs later sent only one person. He was alone most of the time but in the last half hour sent 3 more. As it wasnt finished i agreed to having them finish and mulch. They wanted to charge me a lot for mulch but agreed on a lesser "wholesale" price. Nonetheless the extra time to do this reverted to their normal rate for 4 persons, which really jacked up the price. I could have let them leave the job unfinished so i suppose it was my fault, but all in all their prices were too high to make the time needed effective.

Description of Work: I purchased a big deal online. I believe Mr. Joe Gibbs came out to my house several days after my phone call to evaluate the scope of the work I wanted done. He asked me if it was possible to wait until the end of October because he was swamped with doing planting while the weather was nice because of the big deal he offered. I said I was fine with that, that I understood. I have not yet heard from him as to when my job will be scheduled. In fact, every couple of days I remember that I guess I will have to dig out my receipt and give him a call. Needless to say this has put a bad taste in my mouth since I've already paid for the work but have yet to get it done!

Description of Work: I very much looked forward to working with Joe Gibbs. During our several phone conversations, Mr Gibbs was very professional and polite and importantly, scheduled the yard work promptly after our initial conversation. I explained my expectations and he promised to send workers who were experienced at pruning. Regretfully, I was very disappointed with less than professional attitude, especially of the one workers. Although I paid for 6-man hours of yard work, he tried to tell me that it was only for 4 and that the two of them would work only for 2 hrs, instead of the expected 3. This was in addition to their 2 hr late arrival. In total, cleaning of broken twigs, pruning and weeding was not done well.

Description of Work: Mulberry Bush promised to have all work done by July 10. Didn't even show up until I called and complained in August. Same problem for work to be done in June. Always wanted money in advance and then did not show up.Changed what they delivered from what was promised. Tree trimming was good when finally done. Landscaping was fine but two months late. Lawn sprinklers ruined and never fixed.

Description of Work: Joe and his crew came through in a pinch and earned themselves a loyal customer. When our previous landscaping company fell through, Mulberry Bush was here the next day. They took care of our fall yard cleanup, pruned bushes, trimmed back ivy and other ground cover, and mulched throughout. Joe recommended several things we could do to improve the look of things and they took care of some of them that day while onsite as part of their work. We highly recommend them and we plan to use them again.

Description of Work: This is an official request to be removed from Angie membership list. I purchased this service on Sept 18, 2012 but the service did not start until October 13, 2012. In making the initial call to schedule an appointment, I was told that my address was outside the service area. "A specified area was not noted on the flyer". The receptionist would not schedule me and claimed that she was going to contact Angie--to say the promotion did not cover my area--that it was too expense to load a truck to come out and service my area. A week later Joe Gibbs called me to schedule an appointment to apologize and stated that the purpose of putting the promotion was to expand his business. Even though his business does not service my area, he could contact someone that's in the business close to my residence to do the job. The only reason why I did not cancel the promotion is because I am a senior citizen and have had knee surgery which left me unable to manicure my yard--and really needed the help of a landscaper Mr. Gibbs scheduled y appointment for 9 am October 6, 2012, but he did not show up and did not call. I call him to find out what happened--his response was I try to get someone out to see you some time in the afternoon. A gentlemen did call to say he can get to me within in 2 hrs I decided that too much of my time had been wasted trying to received a service I had paid for--I wasn't going to spend 2 more hours waiting for a potential no show--so we rescheduled the appointment for 10 am Oct 13, 2012. I found out that Mr. Gibbs out sourced theLand service to some one else who said to me he works for Gibbs part time. The man's name was Greg. Greg did the work under the four hours and realized that there was not enough mulch to cover my yard. He said he would go and get the additional mulch and come back to finish the job in 3 hrs. I gave him $70 to get additional mulch and an additional $50.00 for an another hours work to trim my holly tree. He said that Mr. Gibbs said it was OK for him to charge me up to 2 more additional hours over what I paid in the original promotion. I just wanted to get my yard cleaned--so I paid him cash. (BIG MISTAKE). He did not come back and would not answer his phone. Greg responded to my call about 8:30 pm saturday night--apologized--stating he ran into some problems--however, he would come by SUNDAY afternoon to finish the job. Part of the original job was to pruned/trim my 2 holly trees. Greg trimmed one and not the other. Part of the original job was Greg to transplant two shrubs--he never got around to it. On Sunday Greg showed up at 2:30 with only 5 bags of mulch which was not enough to complete the job and he did not have the proper tools to complete the job. I borrowed my neighbors tools, which were not sufficient, as a results, Greg chopped and brutilized my beautiful holly tree--did not put down the mulch and promised to come back on Monday October 15th with a saw to properly trim my tree. Needless to say he did not show up. I made several calls--the excuse was he could my talk to me at that time and would call me around 8:00 pm--he never called. I called Mr. Gibbs on Tuesday, explained the situation and he promised to send out his BEST Guy to clean up the mess. the gentleman did show up, trimmed the tree, but did not bring the correct mulch--what was put down early was black mulch, the new mulch was hard wood. The new guy did transfer the plants and cleaned up Greg's mess. this was done yesterday October 17, 2012. I got your email before I've had an opportunity to call American Express to dispute the charges and file a complaint with better business bureau. I did not get what was advertised and what I paid for. I never met Gibbs and my business was not important to him because he out sourced it to 2 different people--causing me more than the original $199.00. So, I made a decision--I will NEVER use Angie List again, will never refer any one to Angie's List, and if anyone ask I will surely share my experience. this particular situation is the second bad experience with Angie's list out 3 tries all in one year. Three strikes is more than enough for me. There was nothing professional about this company and I am having a very difficult time trying to understand why this company was not screened, signed Luvenia Turner

Description of Work: This was a deal that Angie's list offered and I don't remember if it was $200 or $300 for 4 hours of yard work. We had them rake and dispose of the tons of leaves we get. The man who came out was helpful in explaining what we could get under th deal and I would have paid him to do a few other things, which I told him, but they ended up doing the leaves and that was it. They did a great job of what they did. A perfect performance would have been doing the extra work and giving me a bill, but I imagine they were swamped because of the Angie's list deal.

Description of Work: The $800 includes the Angie list coupon, which was $199 for 2 people for 2 hours. He gave me a discount on the additional hours. I bought this coupon ages ago, and worked with Joe Gibbs to have the work done at a later date. In fact, I forgot about the coupon and he called to remind me that I was entitled to the work. I had him remove shrubs, move plants, weed and clean out 3 flower beds, mulch and add weed killer. One of the flower beds is hugh and on the side of a hill. He also trimed and shaped all the shrubs, something that hadn't been done in years. When I had him remove 3 shrubs (that I hated) he gave me some excellent suggestions on how to redesign the area. Joe is easy to work with - I told him what I had in mind and he made some suggestions that I followed. I would definitely use him again.

Description of Work: They did a beautiful job with my yard, not only cleaning it up, but edging the lawn, trimming bushes, and weeding out tons of clutter. As a result, the garden looks totally renewed. The owner is also a pleasure to work with.

Description of Work: Service provider was to clean out beds and put down mulch. However, service provider did not really clean out beds well and member had to supervise and ensure work done properly.

Description of Work: I got the Angies Big Deal for 4 man hours of lawn and yard work. They had an opening and 3 men came the next day. They did more work in an hour and 20 minutes than I could have done in 3 days! They cleared weeds in beds, edged and laid mulch, trimmed shrubs and cleared all the leaves and debris from the garden. It looks great. The workers were very responsive and worked with me to make sure I was happy with the results. The only thing they did not do was to prune a crape myrtle that needed it.
