The movers came picked up the furniture and delivered it to my home. They were were polite, professional and quick. They did everything I asked them to do and I was extremely happy with my experience from a to z. In an industry where there is so much corruption I must say they deserved an a+ and I would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: A friend of mine sold her Condo in Washington D.C. and had no use for the furniture in it so she offered to give it to me. I called Movers USA to see if they could pick up some of the furniture and deliver it to my home in Annapolis.

When I started to unpack, I realized that on the 2nd day of packing, Dec 29th (which wasn't supposed to be a day of packing at all), when I had no extra people there to help watch and I ended up being pulled away to the new house by Verizon (because it was supposed to be an 'unload at the new house' day), the guys had been randomly throwing objects in boxes without care. This is probably because they had so seriously underestimated the size of the job and they just wanted to finish up quickly, plus I didn't have adequate supervision to keep them on the straight and narrow. It was amazing what they did. Just a few of the highlights: --lamps were flung in loosely without any protective packing in large wardrobe sized boxes with lots of other loose items; needless to say, they were broken --a *live potted plant* was dumped in one of these large boxes; not only did the plant die, but the pot itself--which my daughter had made for me in elementary school--was shattered. --several items that used glass were broken--e.g., the glass frame on one of my pictures; a glass vase. --my daughter's bookcase had the back ripped --a small wooden desk had a drawer broken --the back corner of a sofa was ripped Well, in my experience, some damage does happen while moving, although there was more with this move than with any other move I've had. I was willing to accept it as part of the process until a day or so into unpacking when I realized that one tub from the storage room in the basement was missing. I had put some jewelry into this tub. We searched all over the house and in the storage area. No tub. I contacted the moving company and got as a response, "My guys are all terrific; if you have any claims to make, we have a third party company that handles our claims." I went back to the old house and searched there and by happenstance decided to go outside into the backyard. Lo and behold, there were several items just sitting there in the backyard. They had never been loaded onto the truck. I picked them up and put them in the car and brought them back into the new house. It was obviously unclear to me at that point whether the guys had actually *stolen* the tub, or just left it out in the backyard, where it was either taken by someone else, or conveniently disappeared. However, when I began going through all my other storage tubs (now in the storage shed in my new house), it was clear that they had actually been rifled through, and many of the items that I thought I had had disappeared. There was nothing left of any value in any of the storage tubs; most of them were even half empty. Of course, it's possible that everything of value was simply left in the backyard (negligence). If it disappeared over the next day or two, there' s no proof of how it occured. This struck me as more than a little convenient, especially since we were in a very safe neighborhood. In addition to the valuable stuff, other items simply disappeared, including some furniture. I have never in all my moves had items simply disappear like this. When I tried talking about all of this to the moving company, I basically got nowhere. All I got was a flat statement, "All our guys are really honest. They would never steal anything." There was no apology, no coming out to visit to personally survey the damage. It was just, 'fill out a claim form with this third party'--very hands-off. The claim process itself is horrendous. It is now March and I filed the claim in mid-January. I have been getting legalistic runaround from the third party, who wanted a list of 'repair estimates' even though most of the damage was things that could not be repaired, only replaced, and even though I did not purchase the kind of insurance that would even pay for repair and replacement. SInce it's all by weight, there is no compensation for my missing jewelry or anything else of any value, and actually when you look closely at the fine print, the company absolves itself of any responsibility for any valuables going missing. (If everyone is so honest, and no one ever steals anything, why would they need such a disclaimer?) Just for comparison, I had a move in the mid-90s from New Orleans to Connecticut--a much longer move than this one, also including several days of stuff in storage. When they unloaded there was a bookshelf that they had taken apart and could not put back together. I called the company and they sent a guy out right away who looked at the bookshelf and wrote me a check for its value on the spot. (I think it was all of $35, not a huge amount--it was more the professional way they handled it that impressed me.) I never even 'filed a claim'. They simply stood by the quality of their work and took care of it; and this was one of those huge national companies. Here we have a small moving company that you think would care about its reputation among its local customer base, and they farm this whole process out to a sharkish third company that seems to view its job as being rude and setting up obstacles. I tried calling the third company and the guy on the phone was *so* rude and *so* aggressive, I actually hung up and felt too intimidated to even try to call them again. Whoever the third company is, they are not nice people who care about customer business and customer concerns. Would a business that actually *cares* about honoring whatever damage their employees do hire such a third party to handle their claims? Basically, I had a lot of stuff damaged and a lot of stuff go missing. I have never out of all my moves had such a bad move. This was apparently due to vastly underestimating the size of the job but not really taking the steps necessary to correct this underestimation(incompetence), and then either leaving a lot of stuff in the back yard instead of loading it on to the truck (sheer negligence) such that some third party stole it, or the guys themselves playing a part in the items disappearing (theft). Since there are a couple items missing which were among items that were packed carefully on Wed, and then when I unpacked them at the new house, all items were accounted for except for one missing, it is hard for me to completely rule out theft. Be very careful of this company. If you use them, make sure there are lots of people available to watch them at all times--at least to make sure they pack carefully, if not to avoid downright theft; also if you use them, be sure to get the replacement value insurance, not the per poundage insurance. Also, if you think your job will take more than one day, make sure they understand the size of the job, and that they complete the packing in day 1 as contracted for, and that the truck they bring is large enough. What a nightmare.
Description of Work: I grew up in the military and as an adult have moved many times privately. So, I have a lot of experience with different moving companies. This is without doubt the worst move I have ever had in my entire life. On Dec 28, 2011, they were supposed to pack out my old house; then on Dec 29, they were supposed to load the truck and drive it the 3 miles to my new house, and unload. 2 day job. Due to my experience moving in the past (I have a *lot* of books), I was very clear that they would need to start early in the morning on the 28th and pack all day. I arranged to have friends come and stay during the packing process, since in my prior experience it's best to have people around keeping an eye on things during packing. The first thing that went wrong is they didn't arrive till 10 in the morning on the 28th, despite my repeated phonecalls, and my repeated statements that packing would take all day. Then there was confusion about the fact that it was indeed a two-day job and not a one-day job. The guys who arrived seemed clueless about the size of the job or its details. I ended up calling the central office to clarify matters. The deal had been that the packing was a flat rate already included in the labor estimate, and then on the second day I would pay per hour. The guy at the central office confirmed this. While doing so, I also asked about insurance and was told the guys were professionals who did quality work, and they never had complaints, etc. I finally went with the per poundage insurance and told the team leader that his supervisor had praised their professionalism. The guys packed while we kept an eye on things and they seemed to be doing a careful job, so I felt assured. However, I was surprised when they stopped work about 4 pm, so they had worked just 6 hours, from 10-4. They had *not* finished packing. They said they would 'finish it up' in the morning. Okay. Unfortunately, I had not arranged for anyone to stay with me on Thursday, so I had no one else to help keep an eye on them. However, they had seemed fine on Thursday, and I was assured by the manager's faith in them, and also I felt I didn't have a choice. So, I went with it. On Thursday morning, they brought an extra guy and came early and started packing the basement out. They were still packing by early afternoon. They ran out of book boxes and I helped them find additional book boxes. The team leader was very polite and I assumed everything was going well. Then Verizon called at my new house and needed me there to take care of some stuff related to installation (recall that on Thursday, I was supposed to be dealing with *unloading* at the new house, because it was supposed to have been *all packed* on Wed). So, I had to leave and go to the new house to take care of Verizon. The guys were all alone in the old house, presumably finishing up the packing. Then in the mid-afternoon, the team leader called to say that 'the truck was full' but they weren't finished loading everything into it. I drove back to the new house. THere were many items still left in the house, but the truck was indeed full. They had not sent a large enough truck, again underestimating the job. But that's minor compared to what happened next. We drove the truck to the new house, they unloaded, then sent some of the guys back to the old house to get the rest of the stuff, and some of the guys stayed at the new house putting items together. I did my best (again alone) to go back and forth between the houses but it was really hard for me. Finally, I got a call from the old house that 'everything was packed' and for me to come over and look at it. I inspected the entire house and everything seemed to have been packed. I did not open the door and go out into the backyard. The team leader seemed very uncomfortable by then--still trying to be polite, but I sensed something was wrong. However, I figured he was just tired and frustrated from it having been such a long day with so many miscalculations on their part. Little did I know. We returned to the new house (it was early evening by then), where we settled the bill and I gave them a $100 tip. The team leader looked very uncomfortable when he took the tip. Again I didn't understand why. I realized when I began to unpack. My saga continues in the essay space below.

This was an excellent move. The rate we were quoted was hourly and we were promised 2 movers. However, right on time, 3 movers showed up! This saved us quite a bit of money since naturally 3 men move faster than 2. They were very efficient and quick. Overall, we saved about 200 dollars off the quoted price. The move was pleasant, the movers were very nice and careful with our things. I would highly recommend Movers USA.

This company is not just good, they were great! They held my items in storage for 3 weeks without charge while we were finalizing our living arrangements here in Florida. They perfectly timed their delivery to when we were able to move into our new residence. Gill, the owner was a real pleasure to work with, and the driver (I can't recall his name) was extremely professional and helpful. The service was outstanding and our things arrived in excellent shape. This is a company I recommend without reservation.

I will recommend them. The only thing I was disappointed was that my stuff was being moved from Baltimore to Florida and I was under the impression that my furniture would get there in between Monday to Wednesday, but it didn’t get there until Friday. I was very upset about it and they took half the payment in Baltimore and the other half in Florida. My son had to sleep on the floor which was very inconvenient. The quality was good; they came when they were supposed to and protected the furniture. The price seemed reasonable when I compared them to others. I would hire them in the future, but I will ensure they give me a specific date to deliver the items.

Overall, I was very pleased with the service. The team arrived as promised, but there were communication problems regarding the location of the university and how to reach the area where they were permitted to park. Although I had provided this information, including map links, to the individual who scheduled the move, apparently it was not passed on to the crew. The driver did not seem to understand my directions, and a Parking Services officer had to intervene and ask them to turn the truck around after they entered the one-way drive the wrong way. Despite these initial difficulties, the move itself went very well. The packing of files was efficient and the secure padding of the wood-grained file cabinets prevented damage to the finish,. At my home, the team dealt effectively with a narrow alley and delivered four metal file cabinets and their contents to my detached garage. The hardest challenge was moving a two-drawer and a four-drawer lateral file to the second floor of my townhouse. Because they are wood, but composition board, the files are extremely heavy. They did an excellent job of maneuvering the tight stairwell and hallway, with no damage to the file cabinets or the walls. I greatly appreciate the team's hard work.

They worked hard and got us moved within the estimated time, which was great. They moved our very heavy piano without mishap, and were helpful in positioning it right where we wanted it in the new house, which took a couple of tries. They set up my daughter's bed, which was very helpful. The main office was helpful with scheduling (we moved the date once because of weather, and they were very accommodating). Overall, it could have gone better. They damaged the front door slightly with a dent, while moving out a large sofa. Then they added three new small dents to our stairwell ceiling when moving out the bedroom dressers. Granted we have a tight turn on the stairs and not a lot of ceiling clearance, but we managed to get the same furniture up the stairs ourselves with only one small dent in ceiling. They broke a ceiling light bulb in the basement - admittedly the ceiling there is kind of low too. And finally, my bedroom dresser received a small but noticeable dent in the top surface. It's not a new dresser, and does have some blemishes, but this new one is the most noticeable now. Later note: Movers USA was very concerned that we had had a less than stellar experience and sent someone out nearly right away to inspect our houses and the dresser. They credited us some of the cost back for the damage, which we appreciated.

They were very professional and careful with all of my valuables. No service was performed because no one is available during stated business hours. I tried to get in touch with them 4x over the course of 2 days. On tuesday 12/20 beginning at 10:30am a man transferred me twice and I was on hold for 8-12 mins each time before I hung up. On wednesday 12/21 I called at 2;pm and was told no one could help me, "try again later". I called again at 5:20 and was told "everyone gone for day", even though their hours are listed as 6:pm. I called them because of the 20% coupon, but they are not worth it.
