As noted above, this is an update to my prior review. My wife and I hired Movers USA to move our 1 bedroom apartment from Dupont Circle into storage and then eventually to California. Movers USA were very professional on the initial transport of our furniture, and explained the change of price from the initial quote prior to loading - they added costs for pieces of furniture that we had not noted in our original move inventory questionnaire, but did not subtract costs for having fewer boxes than we had originally asked to have moved. Regardless, the initial move went fairly quickly and was done efficiently. We had told Movers USA that we needed to put our furniture into storage while we looked for an apartment in San Francisco. We initially gave them a downtown San Francisco zip code for purposes of the quote. We were told to give approximately two weeks time from requesting our furniture from storage to it making its way to California and were told that for long distance moves there was some variability in regards to delivery date. After we finally found an apartment, we requested our goods to be shipped on February 20th. We were under the impression that the movers would come within two weeks of our request, but were hopeful that they might be able to come a little bit earlier so that we could leave our temporary housing, as each extra night without our furniture cost us over a $100 a night for housing elsewhere. During our initial conversations with staff, they continued to tell us that they didn't know when they would have a truck to load our furniture on, and they didn't want to even give us a range of dates because then we would complain if there was a delay. When we called on March 1st, staff still would not give us any idea of when our furniture would get on a truck, noting that according to the contract, the had 14 BUSINESS days from receiving the request to delivering the furniture. While that was a bit surprising, we asked if we could just get some clarity and an estimate of a time range, as each day without our furniture meant an extra day in temporary housing. After voicing some frustration at the inability to get any kind of estimate beyond what the contractual obligations were, we received a voicemail from a manager from Movers USA basically telling us again to read the contract and to note that they had 14 BUSINESS days to deliver our furniture. On March 5th, 13 regular days after our request for our furniture to be moved, I received a call saying that our furniture was finally going to be put on a truck and that it should arrive in California between 5 to 7 days and that the driver would call us 24 hours before delivery. I was very excited to hear the news as that gave some range of when my wife and I could actually leave temporary housing and start living in our apartment. However that excitement quickly dissipated when Stephen then asked me a series of questions which were clearly meant solely to adjust the cost of the move above the initial estimate. While I understand asking about things such as extra sets of stairs that were not in the initial estimate, what was beyond frustrating was that Stephen told me straight out that the semi-truck would not be able to fit on the street that I lived in and that they would need to charge me extra for moving our furniture into a shuttle van and then using that van to deliver my furniture. I had previously asked my landlord if the building we lived in and street could accommodate a moving truck and he had said yes. I asked Steven how he knew for certain that a truck couldn't fit - he said downtown San Francisco is the worst place and it wasn't possible. I asked why this hadn't been covered in the initial quote since the zip code we had provided him to begin with also had been for downtown San Francisco. He said fine, the truck could drop off the furniture at some other location where a semi could fit; the truck could park down the street but we would be charged extra for every 75 feet beyond the initial 75 feet the movers had to walk; or they could go with the shuttle option for an extra $250. It was clear he had already had made up his mind and since he knew that we were basically held hostage while they had our furniture, I regretfully agreed to the shuttle option just so we could get our things and move out of temporary housing. I am hugely disappointed in these kind of tactics, as this is the kind of behavior that I was trying to avoid by going with a mover that was highly rated on Angies List. I will update this rating once we receive our furniture and see what other extra charges we are hit with and see the condition of the goods, but I wanted to update now so my prior "A" rating would not be relied on by some other poor unsuspecting person trying to move. Movers USA has made a difficult moving experience even worse.

AWESOME!! SUPERB JOB!!!! Great customer service. They were punctual came within the required time frame. They were very professional and they cleaned up after themselves after the job was completed.

These guys were great! I had last minute problems with my closing and had to reschedule the day before scheduled date. They worked with me to get a team together for Saturday. The team showed up on time, explained everything clearly, and worked efficiently. They were extremely polite and communicated with me throughout the process. I would definitely use them again and would recommend them to anyone.

I contacted three movers from Angies List and obtained quotes from all three movers. I selected Movers USA because they were able to move me on the date that I preferred. I found their quote process to be fair and reasonable and each person I spoke to via phone was always very courteous and professional. I also really appreciated that the movers showed up on time and was ready to roll with getting my move started. Moving and relocating can be very stressful and it was a great feeling to have professionals show-up, secure my furniture with moving blankets, tape, etc. My glass table was moved without a scratch as well as my beds and furniture were assembled with care. Finally, what I really appreciated was two phone calls from management at the Movers USA, to make certain the move process was going well and a follow-up call when the job was done, to make certain I was a happy and satisfied customer. I would certainly use them again for future moves. Thank you Movers USA for a fantastic moving experience.

Absolutely awesome job. All of the workers were kind and polite. Very happy workers. They moved so much stuff so fast!

The experience with Mover's USA was outstanding. First, the bank changed the settlement date 5 times. Each time, Mover's USA was very understanding and didn't try to charge any type of cancellation fee. They also followed the day before to see if things were on. On the day of the move, the staff arrived on time and began a very thorough job of covering/protecting our furniture and then loading it into their trucks. When we found out that day that closing was postponed again until after Christmas, Mover's USA was very helpful in allowing us to store our stuff in their trucks at their facility. Finally, when closing finally occurred and we were able to move into the new home, Mover's USA arrived on time with our stuff and unloaded it, all within their original estimate. We were very happy with them and will use them in the future.

Great customer service and follow through. Movers were prompt and courteous. Everything arrived safely and the team finished ahead of schedule.

Arrival at 9Am, phone call beforehand to let me know what time they'd be here. Moved boxes, wrapped furniture. Did well, very communicative.

They were very efficient and did a great job. I don't think they damaged anything and didn't even scuff the walls.

Efficient, courteous, helpful

Well I should have known that things where going to go wrong from the start. I was told that the movers were going to show up with a 26ft truck just for my place... Instead they show up with a truck half full with another family's belongings. I was reassured that furniture would be wrapped up in blankets. As the day progressed it was becoming very clear that they didn't have enough room for all of our belongings... and they where taking alot of time repacking the truck to fit items in. Finally they gave up and gave me two options, either they leave some items at my old place or they make a second trip... which they wanted to charge me for. Keep in mind that if the truck hadn't already been packed, it wouldn't have been an issue in the first place. So we finally get to our new housing... they start to unload, they open the back door and about 4 boxes fall off the back of the truck. I offered to help and they assured me they could handle it. So on things went for a few more hours, their leader assuring me that things would be done on time. I dont remember when they finished, but I believe it took about 10-12 hours. I thought all was well and they went about there merry way. While I was stuck with a small uhaul truck worth of items at my old place. That cost me another 100. As my fiance and I went about unpacking, we realized that almost every nice piece of furniture we had, had either been scratched, torn and/or dented. Almost none of the furniture had been wrapped, they tapped the cushions to my couch, then proceeded to carry by the tape and tore the fabric on the back of the couch. My fiances grandfather had made her a hope chest when she was a girl and that had a great big scratch across almost the entire top. All of my bookcases were scratched up, my desk was scratched up. Our dressers had some marks on them and my entertainment center got dented some. I will be completely honest, I did not contact the company after the move, the only insure like 60 cents on the pound. And considering items like say our couch only weight something like 100 lbs and my couch cost me almost $2000, the math doesn't ad up for it to be worth my time to get a few hundred dollars to try and replace a few thousand dollars forth of furniture. I would not recommend this company to anyone. Its not worth the trouble.

The movers were on time and very professional. They were very polite and got right to work. The ensured every thing was wrapped and packed prior to placing anything in the truck. They also made sure they placed items in our new home where we wanted them. They were very helpful. The price was competive especially with the Angie's List offer. The movers did not waste any time. They worked the enire 8 hours they were paid. They did take a lunch break and water breaks of course. I would absolutly recommend this company to others.

I had a wonderful experience. I have a lot of expansive furniture. Everything was very good well. The movers were very patient with me. I have moved 10 times in 15 years and they were the best movers i have ever had.
