SMOOT'S LLC

Description of Work: The salesperson was entirely out of touch with the actual crew, so what she said would happen actually didn't. The crew was entirely unprofessional. I just wanted them to do very simple things because I was 9 months pregnant and unable to dig. I wanted a row of Leland Cypress trees, two flower beds prepared (not planted), a vegetable garden area prepared, and a drainage problem taken care of. The trees (he charged me $100 for a Leland Cypress you can get at Home Depot for $30 - he said the high price was in case one died) are completely unevenly spaced, too close to the fence and spaced too far apart (I planted $12 trees in between the ones he did and you can hardly tell the difference). The beds were reasonably done, but I had to practically hound the crew to get them to DIG. The so-called topsoil they added was barely an inch dusting on the top and it's GRAY. (Topsoil isn't gray, is it??) Again, I was charged A LOT for plants (double the retail price, I think) and I didn't even want plants. I just wanted beds prepared. The drainage problem took nearly 2 weeks (just bury a tube...). I was told it would extend beyond my fence in the back yard, and then they didn't do that -- it went to the edge of my so-called vegetable garden space thus creating a little pond every time it rains. The vegetable garden was not tilled until I demanded it, again the "topsoil" added was a thin layer of gray stuff, and then they added a dusting of mulch. Every time I look at my backyard, I feel sick that I paid them any money at all. I only contracted with this company because I was very pregnant and couldn't do the work myself. Mr. Smoot came over several times, and I found him to be condescending. I would highly, highly recommend anyone to use a different company. Maybe their stonework is good (our neighbors have a good looking stone deck by them.), but their landscaping was so poorly done and they were so completely unprofessional.
