Description of Work: The company scheduled the visit promptly. When they came to our house, they inspected the chimney and saw no soot or blockages (we have gas appliances but no fireplaces), so didn't need to clean it. They did see some cracking in the tile lining of the chimney, so they gave us an estimate for getting a liner. At first we felt a little cheated since they hadn't cleaned the chimney, but when I called, I talked to a very helpful manager (Katherine) who explained that since they hadn't cleaned it, we should get a refund through Angie's List. She also talked to us about getting a CO2 reader and getting the chimney re-inspected regularly so we don't get CO2 poisoning before we get a liner. I would use this company again if I needed any chimney inspection/cleaning, simply because of the staff.

Description of Work: I chose this company after getting two other estimates. Of the three companies, American Professional Chimney took the time and gave me materials to read that explained the importance of a healthy chimney to prevent things like carbon monoxide poisoning and energy conservation. Their price was also the most reasonable and I needed alot of work done (new pipe from water heater and furnace, new flue, new cap and several layers of brick repair). If I didn't get these repairs done, carbon monoxide leaking would have been a big issue for me in the winter months while using the furnace. Scheduling was a breeze, all of the office staff were great and patient with my zillion questions. The chimneys guys came right on time, completed the work as planned and explained things about the project along the way. When they were done, on the way out one of the workers smiled and gave a thumbs up and said, "Your home is safe now." To me that shows that they recognized my concerns and that the job they completed was critical to my safety. Last, they did a tuckpointing job around the base of my house and even surprised me by removing a huge stubborn root that had been growing from the side of the house that two previous contractors found too difficult to remove. Great experience, the workmanship looks good, and I will refer happily to my friends and family.

In their defense, the information on my account was outdated, and it was around the holidays, but they still should have called me back once I gave them the correct info. We no longer need this service.

Description of Work: I called to get an estimate, and the person on the phone informed me that they do not service my area. I thought that was odd because I live 20 min from their office in Jessup/Savage area and they have reviews from customers in Columbia that are 40+ min away.

Description of Work: They did a great job - not time, clean and very professional - just a chimney cleaning but also pointed out several items in the fireplace and at the roof that need repair. Provided a written estimate for the repairs. I would use them again.

Description of Work: Got a call from the receptionist within hours of accepting the "Big Deal". She took a surprising (pleasantly) and knowlegable history of our fireplace needs and history. We scheduled an appointment within about a week of that call. The men already knew a lot about our chimney, its' latest repairs, and our concerns before they even got started. Really efficient! Then cleaned the chimney, inspected it for cracks or problems, and gave us a report of what to expect going forward. They draped the hearth area and left no soot behind. They were polite, neat and efficient. Would call them again any time!

Description of Work: I had caulking redone outside, between the chimney and the house wall. I also had them coat the chimney with silicone. The company had to come back to do the latter when the weather was good enough to allow the silicone to dry. They were very responsible about 1) calling when they were to come 2) calling when weather reports changed and rescheduling was necessary 3) giving a window of a few hours when they would be coming by (I have a tenant in the property, so not disturbing the tenant more than necessary was important) 4) billing only when all the work was done, even though performance was delayed by weather/no fault of company. I also very much appreciated that they gave me a detailed estimate of each piece of work they could perform or that they recommended, and did not push me to buy all of it -- they simply took my order when I called to pick the work to be done.

Description of Work: Since this work was on the roof, repairing the chimney, I don't know what was done. I am assuming the work was done correctly. The work listed to be done: patch cement crown with new mortar, scrub moss from joints, apply water repellant to exterior chimney, seal the flashing with siicone. My problem was not the work but the price. Originally $460. The first day 2 men spent 15 minutes on the roof. To finish the job took 1 hour. I felt that $460 was too much to pay for 1 hour and 15 minutes work,, regardless of the cost of supplies. I called the office and the manager was very accommodating and reduced my bill to $368.
